so coming from my problemetic e4200 router, I wanted to give out an another tryout to the name Linksys and brought their new wrt1900ac but nope... I am not even sure why I am here posting this, I am not a complainer type of person but seriously I might a be a bit piss after spending all that money to find out my router is not capable of releasing the IP address properly which is the only thing I needed my router to do I don't like to talk big but I doubt I wll ever get an another linksys product

so I travel oversees and I work trought my internet connection but today somehow my router decided to reset itself so I had no internet connection and all my work was late! I have UPS at home, remote IP switch just to make sure I will always have connection no matter what but thanks to your piece of junk I was late on a very important work NEVER EVER AGAIN LINKSYS I am so mad I want to **bleep**ing cry because of your junk hardware and software I almost **bleep**ing lose my job today you piece of **bleep**s!!! seriously how the heck a router goes and reset it self!! **bleep** than random freaking passwords??? I can't tell you how much I hate linksys now I usually don't make bold statements and I am polite but can't do that if I almost lost my job because of your junk hardware

Don't know why that was. This forum system has lots of bugs. It stalled out for ten minutes today for me. No one has been able to convince apple to fix instead of the ocasional patches.
And to top it off, you can't even speak with a Apple tech/Rep.

It is so hard to find answers to questions about my iMac desktop that I wish I never would have bought it.
Before we go much furthere, we need to know your os and exact machine.
We would like to use FaceTime on it, but cannot figure out how to install it/why it won't work on here.

WRT 1900 static IP's missing?

This is weird
I have 7 devices on my network set to static IP.
2 of them do not appear on the WRT 1900 network map and the Troubleshooting status page. One is a Elite TV , the other is an iTach RS232 adaptor
Both of them ARE on the network and can be accessed and used
Any thoughts?

I would presume that using static IPs on devices may not be a supported configuration for seeing it on the routers NW map. You'll need to ask Linksys about this. NW Map be dependent upon the addresing being Dymanic or Reserved. I do know that other Mfr routers behave similarly when using static IPs on devices. This maybe how all Mfr handle this kind of configuration. The IPs may or may not be listed in connected devices list thats detected by the router depending on router Mfr and how they handle this.
I do prefer to use reserved IPs on all my devices and I do use some static for other devcies that don't need much management. I would recommend using reserved IPs as this will handle the need of exact IPs for each device when they connect. Set static IPs for devices that don't need much management or bandwidth mangagement, ie, printers or NAS. If TVs are streamers too, I would use reserved IPs so any QoS management features can be used in the router and the router can manage that where needed.

WRT 1900 2.4 problem

Was hoping someone could help. Recently bought a WRT 1900. Set up was easy. Have seperate SSID for 2.4 and 5ghz. The 5ghz which our mobile devices use, runs fine and gets download speeds up tp 60mbs over the net. The 2.4 ghz SSID is the problem. This connects to my laptop, Xbox one, and WI U, as well as a yahmaha reciever. At first its fine and gets the same download speeds. Then all of a sudden the connection speed will drop on my laptop and i can only get 2mbs per second download speeds. Verifie this on all the other devices. The 5ghz remains fine. I f i reset the router the speed goes back up to normal but after a few hours it drops again and I have to reset it again. Is there something I am missing?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
What wireless modes are you using?
2.4Ghz and 5Ghz routers: Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and single mode N or Mixed on 5Ghz?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual Channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear. 13 for EU regions. Try channel 48 or 149 on 5Ghz.

Router Placement

3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

Wish Id never bought this junk

Im trying to simply burn a disc. 4.7 gig disk. fresh boot.no errors upon project checkout.windows xp. project 4.17 gig. was able to burn a disc an hour ago. now cannot.
i get a msg saying, "Windows error 20: the process cannoit access the file because its being used by another process.:
This is insane. so is another message which interrupts a build and says, "The file doesnt not exist." there are others.

Ill explain for you. Im working with about 30 files in my project. The error message should name the file- otherwise i dont know which is at fault.

fresh boot doent mean i booted my machine in the morning for petes sake. obviously. It means i booted windows and immediately initiated Adobe Encore.
Finally, you ARE the only one who bothered with my initial plaint about dual discs. again i replied at length to you. If you still wish to be helpful, could you reply in that thread? Again its several article posts down, and about a week old.

I told u where i got into trouble. I tried to burn a 4.7 disc. Default settings. The idea you miss is instead of YOU telling me where i went wrong, the msgs should. Thats the WHOLE POINT OF ERROR MSGS, NO??? Otherwise why not just print out a skull and crossbones?

seriously. I wish I never brought the BT homehub, it's absolutely terrible. It's connected a lot of the time but it's ridiculous for gaming, I constantly keep getting switched from open to strict NAT, I get IP errors stopping me from connecting and it's just ridiculous.

you would not have bought the home hub it comes as part of your broadband package

Qosmio X500/02G gaming/fingerprint/crashing problems

hi all, i have recently brought a Qosmio X500/02G about 2 months ago, i had initially had a problem where i launched modern warfare 2 and it took forever to load then i had massive lag in the game where my soldier couldnt even move most the time and i was waiting for it to crash but never did it just lagged the whole time, so took it into harvey norman to check it out they rebooted it and now i my original fingerprints dont work and when i try to install it again it says already stored but their is no finger prints stored in the finger print menu, however my game started running with less lag, but then once i passed a few levels it starts massivly lagging again, i have called toshiba support and havnt had much luck accept to take it back to harvey normans and get them to sort it but i havnt had much luck so far. I payed $3,300 for this machine and was promised it was the best for gaming but so far has been a massive headache, is it because its 64 bit? this model doesnt have an option to run in 32 bit as its designed only for 64 bit... advice? shall i take it back to harvey normans and make them fix it till it runs perfect with no lag or never crashes on any of my games (it even crashes on colin mcrae dirt)

It had problems the first day i brought it, and then when i installed modern warfare 2 it lagged like crazy and i returned it to harvey normans straight away to complain about it, then they reformated it and, i lost the fingerprinting ability with a few of my fingers as it stored it in a place where i cant delete and it wont recognise it any more, alot of people have this problem also with upgrading their toshiba to windows 7 where mine is reformating, and then the computer crashes on colin mcrae dirt constantly and especially when it loads the races up, then it freezes whilst watching a dvd on it in which i have to restart the computer, then the most recent event is it goes to a blue screen and tells me its dumping physical memory then shuts down and when rebooted the prompting got worse till the point where i have had to do a recovery where it is back to some what of a stable state but end result im not happy at all with this laptop and i wish i never brought it. If toshiba wants my money in future they better sort this problem out asap.

How can I revert my Macbook Air back to Mountain Lion?

I got my Macbook Air for Christmas in 2012, so it's only a little over a year old. It came with Mountain Lion, and it's been fine, until I updated it to Mavericks. Well, it was alright for a little bit, until the past two days, it has frozen on me for absolutely no reason at all twice. I wasn't running a lot of programs or anything, my hard drive space was fine, my battery was fine, and I've taken good care of it (never spilt anything on it, dropped or banged it). When it froze, the keyboard and cursor didn't respond, it wouldn't go into sleep mode and the sound skipped. All I could do was hold the power button until it shut off. So I was doing research on it and I think the reason is Mavericks. So I backed up my important things onto a separate drive, and I did the restart with command+r and I erased the hard drive completely. But now the only option for installing is reinstalling Mavericks, which I don't want to do because I'll be brought back to square one. My brother has a disc for Snow Leopard, but apparently you shouldn't downgrade a computer to a system software older than the one it came with...does this mean I have to buy Mountain Lion now or something? I don't have any backups in Time Machine (which is stupid of me). My mom has a Macbook Pro with Lion, but I don't know if I can do anything with that (unless it came with a CD, which I don't think it did, and besides it's still an older version). Am I just stuck with Mavericks then? I wish I never upgraded...unless the freezing is related to something else?

Okay. What I could possibly try doing is reinstalling Mavericks, and now that my computer's hard drive is empty, try using it and seeing if it starts freezing again. For all I know, the cause may not be Mavericks, and maybe erasing the hard drive might have fixed it...but if that doesn't work, then I'll probably have to contact Apple or something about it, and see if going back to Mountain Lion fixes it, or if there's something else wrong with my computer.

2 day old iphone 5s turns off at 95% battery life and will not turn back on. HELP

So I had an iphone 4s for two years, the battery started to not last as long, so with my upgrade I got the iphone 5s (greatttt). Anyways I had it for a month then all of a sudden I wasn't getting calls, it took over a minute for me to even get a call to send, then once I was on the call others couldn't hear me well, then it would drop (no problems with service, always happened with full bars). Brought it to Apple store, they told me it was a combination between the phone and my SIM card. They gave me a new one and recommended I go to verizon to get a new SIM card. That same day literally 3 hours later, the phone turned off randomly at 65% battery and WOULD NOT turn back on. I had to go back to the apple store, they restored my phone and almost gave me another new one. However they tested the battery and everything and came to the conclusion it was okay and that I needed to restore the phone and set it up as if I did not already have an iphone (not use icloud to bring EVERYTHING over) So we did that and it started to work, that was two days ago. Over the course of the last two days I have SLOWLY downloaded my previous APPS, however the only way to download those are to do it from the "cloud" because apparently I can't just get them from the app store. Well yesterday I got the blue screen of death, however it came back, I thought nothing except that it was over worked. Tonight it went down to 1%, I left it on the charger until it was at 96%. I had NO APPS open. Went to my calendar and added a event for tomorrow, put my phone down and then ten minutes later looked at it and its turned off. It will not turn on, I tried rebooting pressing both buttons, Ive plugged it back it, switched outlets, switched cords, NOTHING.
Of course I wish I never got the iphone 5s at this point.
What now?

OS10.9 Maverick corrupted my Seagate External Hard Drive, is there a fix yet?

I have seen pleanty of postes regarding the curruption and tried a few fixes, but none have worked.
Has a workaround / fix been developed, I have a 1.5tb Seagate GoFlex drived docked in a thunderbolt cradle with files I need, that OS now tells me is an empty WE MyBook.
I really want to cry I have tried so much but am reluctant to take it to the next level of using data recovery software on it as they don't really work that well and I have thousands of various files that without names and extentions are going to be useless...
I really wish I never upgraded to Maverick, I have had issues with Avid Media Composer, Adobe Creative Cloud, and others. Essentially it has brought me to my knees. and loosing my work drive while overseas means I really need what is on that backup drive, lm desperate.
Please advise if you have found any solutions

I have tried it as USB3 and un the Thunderbolt Dock, makes no difference. Still showing as MyBook and Empty.
Not sure if it was an issue with the fact that all my drives are formated as exFat so I can swap betweeen Windows and Mac, but I have lost 2 now both in the same way.
I think I have a bad maverick because I have another imac that updated fine and all the adobe apps work fine, on my macbook, Media Composer is stuffed, A heap of Adobe products, it is all bad.

Macbook Pro making loud noise

Hi, I am writing because I recently purchased (not really about two months ago) purchased a Macbook Pro. Now I have had this problem since the week after I bought my computer. I never brought it in because, well it was a present from my father and it seemed kind of like, I felt like scared because since it did cost 2,000$ I was scared to tell him. (I am younger than 16, so I have grounds to be scared.) So the problem is there is a loud noise that sounds like a messed up fan, but its sadly not, it comes from the top left of my computer. Next to the speaker spot, I don't even use my computer. It's like Manufacture settings because since it was broken I never wished to use it. So basically the noise is to the point where I would rather keep the computer off than turn it on. Now I am willing to do anything to get it fixed. I just wish I could use it without having to hear this noise.

If it's a manufacturer defect, it's covered. If it was caused by damage/mistreatment, then no. The fans should be quiet (and the cool the chips, mainly)...during heavy CPU activity you may hear them, but the sound should not be loud, and you'll mostly hear the moving air. I'd recommend taking it in.

Text input options missing

Hi,
After running some updates yesterday, the "show text input options" is no longer available in the options. Neither can I select suretype when writing a message. Would appreciate some help.

Had to re-boot after removing an application and everything back to normal! What bugs me is that my service provider tech never brought up a re-boot but rather wanted me to delete all my data and start all over!
