Steve is kicking back, under an alias, watching all the posts in order to formulate a game plan to iPhone software focus for 1.01
He's embarrassed by the AT&T bashing, since we are talking about his new buddy, and saying to anyone who is asking "What do you think..?" He's probably just watching saying, "Well there's always kinks and bugs to work out after an initial launch of a major product"
I'm mad. Sorry, I am. Maybe because I was one of us fools who ran out and thought after waiting in line to buy one, we would tear open the box like a birthday present and press a button or two and find the nearest place to get calamari in a pin-drop snap.
Well, all the nay-sayers who claimed to know better than to run out and buy something when its first released were right and I hate it. Apple seems to have done there part, but the service, once again, is just a swift kick in the __.
I need my phone for work, home and everything else. This was the answer to all my problems and now it's only made a perfectly functioning situation non-functional.
Steve...what'dya say buddy? Buy Verizon or at least hit 18 with the CEO to work something out...please

I have been a customer for 15 years with 8 lines. 2 fam plans
MR JOBS should have made sure AT&T was ready.
I purchased 6/29 9pm but still no IPHONE
9 people 15 hrs on the phone.
This is a nightmare. I just spent $1300.00 for 2 8g phones.
AT&T just told me it will take up to 4 days. Had to transfer account from business to personal. Did not know our family plan was a business plan. So after 9 hours of back & forth hold I am told "SORRY it will be another 4 days for the process to be complete because of billing cycle change." This is unacceptable.
Apple & AT&T were so unprepared for this.
First of all what is the big deal if the account is business the recording on hold says business customers come in and see the IPHONE. basically all business accts have to transfer to individual accts. I want to see 10,000 business customers want the IPHONE. What will they do transfer them all to individual?

    iPhoto 11 + MobileMe Gallery.
    All the iPhoto Albums are shared (synced) with Me Gallery.
    I'd like to know what is the best way to have all the changes synced.

  • Apple has left me out in the cold!

    I no longer have access to facetime on my iPad2 running iOS 6.1.3 and this was working fine till a week back. Apple suggests I update my OS to iOS 7 to solve the problem but I am not keen on doing that at all because iPad2 runs very sluggishly on iOS7 and I don't like the neon garish colours on 7. How can Apple do this ? I feel harassed in this suffocating Apple environment where there is no choice at all. I wonder if Steve Jobs stood for this "my way or the highway" attitude that Apple has started throwing at customers of late.
    I don't want iOS7! My iPad2 was perfect with IOS 6.1.3 and Apple has no right to deactivate a service that worked exceptionally well on this set up.

    sorry, I'm trying to find some humour in a situation that I seriously wish Apple would reconsider, as I too prefer 6 over 7.
    Can you imagine the flack Microsoft would get if they made XP not funtion when Vista was released, VIsta not function when 7 was released, etc?
    I watched TWIT with that guy who used to be good, Leo someone...and they just waxed over this last iOS update without even mentioning the Facetime ultimatum.  Apple sure gets some breaks in the press it would seem.
    I am not a coder, but is updating a "certificate" difficult?  That's a serious question to anyone who understands it.  It doesn't seem like it's something that would be worth killing 11% of users hardware over.

  • Desktop icons and window commands

    I've had my MacBook Pro since August...having been on Windows for 12 years. I've done a lot of reading and am slowly getting used to it.
    I vaguely remember reading somewhere that putting icons on the desktop is something Apple discourages. Is that true and if so why?
    I'm also just curious why the 'close window' and 'diminish window', etc. commands are in the upper left corner instead of the right.

    Wow, now I understand why my PC was really slower then it should have been. Shish, by the time the Google shortcut on my desktop would open, I'd forgot what I wanted to look up. It has been a challenge learning to use tabs but at least now the sites open in time for me to know why the heck I'm going there. I am still finding it hard to keep everything in folders but I do like the clean look of the desktop now. I thought maybe Steve was a neat freak and that's why it's designed like that too
    And I too love keyboard shortcuts. Some of my apps won't close unless I use Command+Q. Then they close without that inane 'are you sure' menu popping up. I use the MacBook so shortcuts are a must.
    And BINGO, Yodsquick to why the 'close, etc' commands are on the left. I really did wonder if Steve was left handed although I thought maybe it was related to the Mac OS being based on Linux too. But sig...why DO they drive on the left side of the road in Europe?

  • Hopefully useful tips for endless processing

    I also posted this in reply to another user, but I think it might be useful enough to others that I will post it here so it's not so buried.
    I'm just starting, after many, many hours, to see the light at the end of the tunnel with Aperture 3. I think A3 offers some great options, and is a diamond in the rough -- very, very rough, even in v3.0.1.
    But I think I have some VERY USEFUL TIPS for you here (again this is after a lot of learning by pain... 4 different attempts to "upgrade" my A2.1.4 library (42K images about 200GB of images).
    1st, and possibly most importantly the "SHIFT" key is your friend. You can use it when you restart A3 to stop the endless processing loop that A3 would fall into every time I upgraded or imported my library to A3 (or 3.01). All you need to do is hold down the "SHIFT" key while restarting A3, this should top all previously stuck processing as you upgrade your library. So use this tip after you first upgrade/import your library, if the processing bug hits. Then you have to be patient and go though your library and figure out where the problem files are (Apple has done a LOUSY job in not identifying what specific images A3 is processing in the "Activity Window" -- Let Apple know if this really bugs you)
    2nd, at this point you will need to systematically go through your library and figure out where the "problem" files are and "fix" them (in my case all of these worked just fine in 2.1.4 - go figure). I would start by generating thumbnails for all of the images in a project, one project at a time (I had 150 some in my library). When you get stuck in the "processing" loop again, you can restart A3 using the "SHIFT" trick, and maybe just try a chunk of images within that same project until you find where things fail again, and until you can get to the offending image (if it's a problem you won't be able to generate a thumbnail for the image -- and A3 will go into endless "processing" mode)
    3rd, this sound like a horribly tedious process and it is. But I can offer you some useful tips. In my case, and others as well apparently, a lot of the offending files are 16-bit PSD or TIFF images, especially if they had adjustments applied in A2.1.4. In my case I had fewer than 50 of these, so I exported an original and a jpg for each of these files. I re-imported the jpg and deleted the PSD/TIFF from A3 (I kept the exported original for future use). These files would then generate thumbs without endlessly processing. The other type of file that I ran into problems with were stitched panoramic images (often over 30MP) that I had applied adjustments to in A2.1.4. I simply removed the adjustments and the generated thumbs for them (worked like a charm).
    4th, download some good podcast, music or audiobook... this will take a long time.

    Funny you should mention this.... (actually it makes you look a bit like a "schill", even though you are not)... nope, as far as I can tell there is no way to tell which specific images are causing A3 to grind to a halt.
    Hence my comment:
    "(Apple has done a LOUSY job in not identifying what specific images A3 is processing in the "Activity Window" -- Let Apple know if this really bugs you)" and similar previous ones in other posts.
    I wonder if Steve, yes that one, knew about this, being the perfectionist he seems to be, if he would have this feature included in Activity Monitor ASAP, or more likely it would have just been fixed by now (more of a "one-button" solution). Anyone have his house #?
    In any case, I please let me (us) know if this helps resolve your problems... and consider joining the Facebook group as well and maybe we can hope for a much better 3.x.x version in the very near future.

    Sometimes we download 'apps', which may turn out just duds or NOT as good and functional as we expect them to be. Then we decide to delete and though they are deleted from iPad ( 4th Gen) or iPhone, the same remain in the iTunes and show up at the time of synching under App section.  The "Remove " option works only for deleting an app available on the device but not from iTunes ( computer) apps section. How can we Delete unwanted Apps for ever?
    Sometimes I wonder why Steve infused so mauch control into such mundane issues as deleting undesirable stuff?It irritates to the extent sometimes I feel, whatever is said Windows based OS is much more user friendly and truly functional...

    Followed by a click on Delete?

    I'd like to know if you modify (add faces, change order, delete, edit) photos on an album which syncs with mobileme gallery will it auto syncs the changes to the mobileme gallery also?
    As far as I can see when I changed the content of an album that is also published to mobileme nothing happens...
    Explain: I've made some changes and after 24h period nothing happens to mm gallery (the photos that I delete doesn't delete)

  • AppleCare Support alternatives

    Anyone have suggestions on how to go beyond AppleCare support for a solution. MacBook has been sent to Apple 3 times. Each time they replace HD install OSX. It returns and works for about a day and then apps start falling off and eventually the OS won't boot. Hired a technician (4.5 hours) who erased HD (zero data) and tried to install OSX from original disk, then tried Tiger install, then Leopard install. All got through about 1/3 of the install process and than failed. No working MacBook since Sept 28. Been the "product specialist" route, spent hours on the phone. All they will only do is attempt repairs on a computer that has been labled defective. What is the next step to getting a computer that works? How do I get out of this mess? Anyone know some other means of getting Apple's best to solve this porblem. One AppleCare techie said that the computer must have been sitting too close to a fan, magnet or TV none of which are in the area exceppt for the magnet that keeps the power plug attached. Silly guessing on his part. Help!

    Apple Customer Relations can't help.
    She sent me back to tech support and said to ask for a manager which is what we've been doing since September! Strange, no one at Apple can solve this problem and they won't replace the lemon!
    I wonder how Steve Jobs (if he was just a regular old user) would handle not being able to use his computer for 47 days why he waits for dozens of people to decide if they can or will fix it.

    Why would Apple purposely leave out the Q&A at the end of the press conference? There is a reason for this folks lol...because reporters were calling them out on stuff and Steve Jobs could not respond correctly to them. I know someone who went to the conference and they said the Q&A part was pretty 'heavy'. Come on Apple post the whole thing or don't post it all, stop trying to hide stuff from the public!

  • IPhoto can not find the original photo, does iPhoto copy the photo or just make a thumbnail?

    I'm scanning and putting all of my (paper) photos into my computer and then into iPhoto, tagging them, and doing all the time consuming things necessary to build a good library. 
    I've tried to open a few of the events and look at the photos I put in but I get an error that iPhoto can not find the original photo.  When I put a photo into iPhoto does the program only make a thumbnail copy with a link to the original, or does it actually copy the photo into the library?  I'm thinking the former.  Because I have a Time Machine backup, a hard copy, and (presumably) a copy in iPhoto, I have been deleting the photos AFTER putting them into iPhoto.  Do I need to keep the photos I put in iPhoto on my computer?  Will I need to go into TM and restore them?  Will I loose the information like Faces, Places, Keywords, if I do?

    I have exactly the same problem except my photo is named "L1000093.jpg" and it's been there for a year now, but suddenly, when I wanted to view it in it's album, ("Favorite" which has been there for a year too), it says "The photo P1010311.jpg cannot be found"!!!  What the heck is going on?  So I canceled, went back to the album, clicked on L1000093, clicked "show event", went over to Event, clicked "reveal in finder" and there it is, iPhoto Library/Master/blah blah blah... L1000093.jpg!
    Where the hack did that P1010311.jpg came from?  Sure I have that photo, but it's in a completely different event and a different album!  What's is iPhoto 11 / Lion / iTunes 10.5.3(3) up to?
    So I threw L1000093jpg into the trash, went into Lightroom, find the original, re-export it, load it again into iPhoto, added it again to the album (favorite), and guess what?  I just did all those and the same "The bloody photo cannot be found" message popped up and when I go to finder, there it is.
    This is a bug.  It's been a bug since 2006 as far as I can remember.  And Apple had never done a complete fix.  It's an if thing!
    And the most frustrating part:  Althought they call this an Apple forum and you have to sign in to participate, I have never seen one Apple software guy here saying "this is what to do", just us victims helping each other and many non-Apple folks guessing to the best of their ability to comfort us.
    Oh, toys are toys.  I sometimes wonder if Steve had fought so hard yet the cancer in Apple actually won!

While I'm listening to my music iTunes will just stop playing the song for at least 5 minutes and I can't force quit why does it do that? This is the first time I have ever felt like my iMac is just as bad as a PC and I wonder if Steve Jobs would have let the program be relase to the public with all the problems involved. No wonder Maverick was free. IT ***** BIG TIME!

    Since you are experiencing this issue with both a wired and wireless connection only on your home network and not at other locations, this issue would related to your router.  I would first recommend power cycling the router and testing the connection again.  If the issue persists, try updating your routers settings per the article below.

  • How the Heck can you send email to Verizon?!!!

    Is it just me, or have others found an easy way to send a tech support email to Verizon about billing or other issues?  I've used Safari and FireFox and every time I try to get to the page where you can send an email, there is nothing there.  It's like some horrible scam.  Is anyone actually getting through to them?
    Please help if you can.

    Ok, in no way were you told or was it implied that you didn't know what you were doing on some level. You stated you were having a problem. I and another poster stated that we did not have the problem you mentioned. I suggested things that may be going on...obviously an issue exists if some of us are able to access the email page with no issue and you are not. Pointing out that there are documented issues with FireFox (one of the browsers you stated you used) and various websites is an attempt to help you out. You may be an Apple Tech but that has absolutely nothing to do with you having issues accessing a Verizon website  page and possible issues with the browsers and the site in question (last that I checked isn't an Apple browser). At any rate, try going to the following URL: https://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/contact/email.jsp If that doesn't work for you then perhaps you can find a better solution. Being an Apple Tech as you stated I'm sure you can figure it out without any of my attempts to help you out. Good luck.
    Wow!  How interesting you read all kinds of negative things into my fairly brief reply.  I was just using broad strokes here to let you know that everything was up to date but the site is not kicking out an email form to me in either of the two, up to date browsers I'm using.  As you noted, this has little to do with technical competence and eveything to do with some flaw in the site that puts me in an infinite loop when I try to get a help desk ticket.  You never mentioned which browser you are using, but I'm guessing that it's IE?...  
    Anyway, lest you take umbrage again, let me state clearly that I'm just looking for an answer and while "it's not happening to me" is a partial one indeed, it doesn't solve my problem.  The link you posted is exactly where I end up going, but can't get through. That's what's so puzzling to me.
    I'm grateful for any replies, but please don't take offense because I'm trying to save us all some time.

    The thing that seems to be part of your issue is the browsers you are using and their compatiability with the VZW website. That is why I pointed out the things that I did to begin with. I'm sorry...you responding to possible solutions with " I'm an Apple Tech and know what I'm doing..." came off as if suggesting that you check your browsers and pointing out that a search showed that FireFox has a long list of website compatiability issues was beneath your level of knowledge because you're an Apple Tech and know what you're doing. THAT is what caused the response. You stated that the URL I provided took you to the same place you keep arriving when you try to go to it using the browsers that you are using. The URL works fine for me using IE. Another possible indicator that for whatever reason, the browsers that you are using and the VZW site don't play well together. I stated that I don't use either of the browsers that you listed so I can't troubleshoot those browsers...but perhaps trying a different browser will help you see the form so you can contact VZW as you initially wanted to. If using another browser isn't something you are interested in doing, perhaps doing an internet search about your issue will find fixes for the browsers and site issues...or you might just have to contact VZW via the telephone or go to a store if you can't contact them via the website. Another option you may have is to send a PM to one of the VZW Employees that post on here (you will have to search the forum to try and find one unless there is another way besides looking through the threads to locate one that has posted or doing a search in the search box). Also, I'm not so sure how reliable it might be but you can try going to the VZW Facebook page (if you use FB) and posting a message on there...perhaps whoever runs that page will respond with an alternative way for you to contact someone viz VZW for help. I don't know if providing you with the last email address that I was contacted from a VZW rep will help since I'm not sure if the emails are filtered to specific depts but if you want to try that then just let me know. Otherwise, maybe someone else can chime in and give you some help that you can use.
    Thanks for all the help, but unfortunately IE is not available on the Mac platform and Chrome is not fundamentally different from Safari or FireFox.  Verizon must have built their site entirely on IE webkit if the site really doesn't function properly on anything other than IE.  What a shame.  Anyway, that's also why I alluded to being an Apple tech and using the two major browsers that really are available for us.  I'm still not a Chrome fan (too much distrust of Google, I guess), but I know other Mac people who like it.  They're usually much younger.  ;-)
    Anyway, at this point we've both wasted too much of our time with this and I'll just call.  
    I think the thing that annoyed me the most about the problem was that it seems like VZW is really trying to make it hard for people to find the page to send an email.  Once you finally find it, you can't get it to work if you're using an Apple computer!  In spite of carrying the highly sought after Apple products, they may have designed an entire website that has significant parts not compatible with open source code on which both of those browsers (Safari & FireFox) are based.  
    And they wonder why Steve Jobs went to AT&T first?  ;-)

  • Email saturation bombing

    Unfortunalely I, like so many other trusting iTunes users, accepted the latest upgrade; it is now v 10.4.0.80.
    I accessed iTunes store last night to compose a "wishlist" of Elton John songs. I could not find the list according to Apple instructions, so I gave up and signed out, after posting this problem on this website.
    Today, I have found >100 emails in my box from Apple forums. Most concern app store problems, of no interest to me. Such a major blunder is uncharacteristic of Apple Corp. I wonder if Steve Jobs is having the same problems.
    I am reluctant to access any Apple services at this point. Attempting to "downgrade" to a previous version of iTunes seems unlikely.
    Where will this end?

    Apple, I'm really sorry to say, but your software blows chunks for wireless connectivity on your laptop computers since Tiger. I have no idea what you have done, but Airport wireless connectivity consistently and sporadically drops and reconnects. This issue has been well documented on the web by many, many users. I had hoped that you resolved this issue in 10.5, but you have obviously not! It looks like I'm going back to 10.4 on my MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, I had defended you and Leopard since it first came out, but I was DEAD WRONG! I REALLY WONDER WHETHER STEVE JOBS TOLERATES HIS MACBOOK PRO DROPPING INTERNET CONNECTIVITY SPORADICALLY! NO, I bet he doesn't. I'm sure his works perfectly well.

    Sorry to hear that. My MacBook's AirPort works flawlessly under 10.5.
