I wonder why ...(New Sequence set up)

Considering the excellent capability of CS5 to be able to 'Create a matching Sequence' to a clip when it is dragged onto the New Item icon...I wonder why one is still forced to go through the process of setting a Sequence up when initiating a New Project?
(I am aware that one can also create and use a Custom set up at that stage.)
Would be nice if that could be optionally bypassed straight into the application.

The workspace remembers which panels were open last time, including timeline panels, which is its job.
The project remembers which workspace was open, but not the specs of that workspace. If you were to close the timeline panels and then create a new sequence-free project, you would not see any timeline panels.
A force more powerful then Premiere controls the workspace behavior across many apps which all have different needs. "Premiere should keep track of open sequences at the project level" is perfectly valid but unlikely in the near future. I want to rephrase that:
edit: We do keep track of the open sequences -- if you have a sequence open, and reopen that project, that sequence will still be open, even if other sequences are in the same project.

  • Video camera compatibility for CS5? what sequence setting do I use?

I am new to the extraordinarily complex world of hard drive/hybrid cameras. I have always used tape and firewires with few problems. A student came in today with new camera she just bought a Panasonic SDR –H85. We downloaded a video file, but it would not import into Premiere. I also had no idea which of the dozen new sequence set-ups to use. How do I find out camera compatibility for CS5? (Adobe doesn’t list specific models.) And what sequence setting do I use?

Thanks for your help! For some reason we had a hard time finding these specs. It looks like it is a SD camera, not a High Definition camera (the HD on the side of the camera mistakenly meant Hard Drive, not High Definition?)
At any rate we now need to use the Adobe media encoder to convert the file so that we can import it into Premiere ….all with a loss of quality due to the re-rendering. (btw, what is the best file to re-render?). I suggested that the student who just bought it return it for a camera (preferably High Def) that will work in Premiere. Any suggestions?

  • Best sequence setting for Sony HXR-NX5U (1920x1080)? Also, why use Sony Content Browser?

    Hello,
I'm using Premiere CS 5.0 and I am hoping to find a sequence setting that doesn't require me to render footage from my new camera, a Sony HXR-NX5U.
Can anyone help me out?  Also, does anyone use Sony's Content Browser?  If so, why?  It seems like a wasted extra step in the workflow.

Why can't I connect to my brother MFC-J4510DW printer wirelessly? The printer is connected to the router.
I can surf the web. My wife can print from her PC wirelessly on it.
I wonder if some security setting may be keeping it from connecting to my MacBook Pro. I've installed the software, firmware and driver updates but
    it still shows "off line"
with the printer power on. Any suggestions?

All I can suggest right now is back up first the try to reset the printing system, (all printers in the list will be removed).
Then connect directly to the printer via ethernet or to the Mac using USB and restart the efforts you have made up until now.
As for router settings, it's possible but not likely that your router only allows a small number of clients. It's also posible that you have MAC address filtering on, lastly are you using the correct wireless protocol, (802.11a/b/g WEP or WPA etc)?

  • Why does Adobe Premiere CC crash whenever I put a new sequence in?

Just tonight, while editing for my short video with my new capture card, an interesting problem occurred. Whenever I paste a clip of any kind, no matter the format or the quality, I put it into a new sequence and it takes just 3 seconds to crash adobe immediately. I've tried with other files and even on previous projects, they'll do the same thing. How did this happen and really, how can I fix it?

I just got this computer in December. I have been using CS5 with no problems at all. Yesterday, I tried to save a very simple file to the desktop and illustrator crashed. It is happening any time I try to save the file to anyplace other than the one file that comes up when I use the "save as" or "save" command. Its happening no matter how small the file is.
I have already removed almost everything from my desktop as one person suggested. I have uninstalled illustrator, run the cleaner program, restarted and re installed illustrator. I have updated illustrator to the current version.
I am using osx yosemite 10.10.2
    I have 16 g of memory.
I have 258G free out of 500G total of storage.
    I am at a loss.
Do you know why it would be crashing?
    Please help.
    Thank you.

  • No xdcam-ex settings available when setting up a new sequence

    Hello.
When I start a new sequence, I am missing the xdcam-ex setting.  I've begun a project with footage shot from a Kodak Zi8 in 720p, and I can not find a setting that will agree with my footage.  The closest I got was AVC-Intra codec, but it still didn't work very well.  I hear that the xdcam-ex settings work the best with Kodak's .mov files, but I am at a loss on how to set up my sequence accordingly.
I use Premiere Pro CS4 and have installed all updates.
    3.1 quad core processor
    8gb ram
    Windows 7
    Thanks for the help!

Here is a link for the CS5 Clean Script.
The CS4 one is no longer there.
The script gets rid off all the stuff that most un-installs miss so you can install it fresh.

  • Copy setting to new sequence

I'm working on an HD project and when I copy the sequence and paste it in a new sequence where do make it the same settings? I went to settings and it looks like they are the same.

    1) It's only been a few hours. Calm yourself.
    2) You hardly gave any information to work off of. "HD sequence"? What kind of HD? What do you mean "copy the sequence and paste it in a new sequence"? Are you taking about nesting, or just duplicating clips? "I went to settings" is not quite a sentence.

  • PP6 Multiple tracks output setting & why MATCH SEQUENCE SETTINGS isn't seeming to work correctly!!

First... can you change a active timeline from stereo to mulititrack 16 channels for instance without creating a new sequence and pasting old sequence into new one.
    Also, watch this video...
16 channels of audio... great... try to match sequence settings it changes from 16 channels to stereo. Um... what's happening there???? How do we fix that?

Jim, this is the best place for Mike to post.
This is where the Premiere Pro engineers, testers, and product managers will see questions. It's extremely cumbersome to try to forward a tweet to the relevant expert, and it's even worse to try to troubleshoot and give answers longer than 140 characters (with screenshots) over Twitter.
That said, I'll get someone more familiar with the new audio features to have a look.

  • How do I see new Sequence "automated" Settings? CS6

    1. I'm importing from (Canon XF305) using Compact Flash Chips.
    2. I create a project and try to choose a preset sequence to match my camera.
       - In this case I assume that I should be choosing "Canon XF mpeg2", since that's the closest to my rig.
    3. When I import the clip into a bin and then try and put onto timeline I get a temporary ERROR...
       - "...Your clips do not match the sequence setting, Would you like to change Timeline to match the clips?"
    4. of course I say, YES, and after a moment, everything is good.
    5. How do I know exactly what the New automated sequence settings are for the timeline?
    6. I need to know so that next time I can choose the right PRESET Correctly?
    7. p.s. When I choose to view, "Sequence Settings" it only tells me "Custom" editing mode, frame size & aspect ratio, but not the PRESET title?

    Hi John.
I'm aware of both methods you mentioned (above), and/but this does not answer my original question.   I'll try and explain here:
When i insert my footage to the timeline, CS6 creates a "Custom" sequence setting that I don't recognise. It's not listed in any of the 'Presets", nor does the "Sequence Settings" have any more 'info" as to what it's custom setting are closest to (regarding to all of the known presets).
One would naturally deduce that by choosing the "Canon XF" preset settings listed in the choices, that my footage shot on a Canon XF 305, would naturally fit on that timeline without further conversions or questions by the program whatsoever. CS6 recognizes my fottage as being from some other type of unknown source, and I simply want to know, what exact sorce CS6 thinks I'm importing?
On this note (might have been the answer.... but not to be so), when I right click on my (supposed CS6 converted) Timeline Footage from my Canon XF305 Video Camera, and I click on "Properties", my footage is listed as "XDcam-HD Movies". Why?
Just to top this off when I creat a new sequence and chose the Preset, "XDcam-HD Movies", CS6 still doesn't think it's just that and wants to create a new custom setting? well, obviouse you say, because it's not XDcam footage, it's Canon XF Footage, but when I once again check my timeline's footage's Properties, it once again thinks it's, "XDcam-HD Movies".  Frustrating!

  • Matching media in a new sequence

Apologies in advance for any bad descriptions I may give. So I've edited a sequence in CC and I've just been told that I have been editing on the wrong sequence settings and that I also need to interpret the footage I have cut. To my knowledge I am unable to interpret footage once it is in the timeline and can only interpret footage in the media workspace panel by right clicking>modify>interpret footage. What I wanted to know is if there is any way for me either interpret the edit already in my timeline and paste into the new sequence? Or interpret the media in the workspace panel and somehow get my previous edit to be recognised in the new sequence without having to go back and re edit the footage cut by cut.
Sorry again for any poor descriptions, any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

You did not mention what framerate the sequence and the clips are.
Why do you need to interprete the footage?
You can go into the sequence setting and change the settings if you want. All the clips in the timeline will stay as is.
Adjusting the Interprete footage instantly updates in the timeline.
Going from say 25 to 50 frames the clip will have been cut down in half showing stripes on the end. Running twice as fast.
If going from 50 to 25 the length of the clip will stay the same but will run at half speed.
Just try it. Make a backup of the project in case you mess things up. Dont rely on Auto Save.

  • New sequence from clip not really matching my clips

We mainly do motion graphics and 3D animation, so I use Premiere Pro almost exclusively to edit together such pieces rendered out of After Effects using the Pro Res 4444 codec.  As an FCP user, my instinct was that if I invoked creating a New Sequence from one of those clips Premiere would create a sequence that would match my Pro Res 4444 clip exactly.  It doesn't.  It matches the size and frame rate, but creates a sequence with the Editing mode set to ARRI Cinema, I-Frame Only MPEG Preview File Format, MPEG I-Frame codec, and my pristine ProRes 4444 ends up with a yellow render bar in the sequence.
    Am I missing something?
I have to select custom from the Editing mode and manually select ProRes 4444, etc.  Not a big deal.  I could save that preset.  Just wondering why that function doesn't totally match my source clip.
    Thanks.

Being a recent FCP devotee I will see if I can interpret what this person expected.
By dropping a Prores 422 clip on the Make Sequence button, I will hazard a guess that he expected to see a Prores 422 sequence created. In the FCP workflow that  is the desire sequnce to play that clip in. What he is seeing in the second image (the sequence settings) is an AVCHD 1080 anamorphic sequence. And hes not sure why its not Prores.
Im sure once he reads the links Todd provided he will understand he is not in Appleland anymore and that there is a different workflow with PrP.
    How did I do?   ;-)

How can I export photos from APERTURE with a new sequence and ignore the embedded JPEG number? Have tried renumbering to no avail.
    has anyone resolved this issue?
This is now the second big Problem with using Apple's Appeture with NO apparent FIX...
Aperture has NO DIRECT way to Burn to a CD/DVD & apparently NO way to RE-SEQUENCE the numbering system????
ANYONE... I wish APPLE would address/fix these 2 problems... LIGHTROOM I guess is next?

    Hi David,
Coming in and whining loudly is rude.  We are all volunteers here, voluntarily sharing our expertise so that users like you can make the most of their time with Aperture.  Speaking just for myself:  although I do care about your success with software (it's why I'm here), I don't care what software you use.  If you want to use Lightroom, do so, and post your questions in an appropriate forum.
Burning files to a CD is a file operation done at the system level (it is built into OS X).  Aperture lets your create sharable image-format files from your Images.  You then use OS X's tools to burn those files to a CD.  Iirc, you can set up a "Burn Folder" in Finder, into which you can export files created from your Images, and with a single click burn your CD.
Naming the files you create by exporting your Images can be tricky.  There are _many_ possibilities.  Some things can't be done.  Sequencing can be done in a number of ways (see Léonie's answer above).  What have you tried?  What was the result?  In what way did this differ from what you expected?

  • New sequence render issues???

I have started a new sequence in my current project and have been unable to drop the footage I am using into the timeline of my new sequence without getting the red line and unrendered message. When I click on the other sequence tab and drop the same cut into it I have no problems......Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong??

The sequence with the render bar doesn't match the footage settings. Why don't you just duplicate the sequence that works, remove all the clips from it, and use that as your new sequence.
If you have FCP6, just create a new sequence of any type and it will conform to the first clip you drop into it if you've set this up in your user preferences.

    Hello all,
I can't open a PP project without this error message appearing:
"The preset used by one or more sequences in this project requires third-party components that could not be located. These sequences will be modified to use a custom sequence setting instead. To continue editing using the original preset, quit the application without saving the project, reinstall any third-party components that are required and reopen the project".
What I had been doing before this occurred was editing a PP project using ProRes sequences and multi-camera editing. Multi-camera was not working very well and after a few attempts to fix that I gave up and finished the job cutting 3 layers of video instead. AME refused to render the three finished sequences of over 1hr duration so rendered final videos from the PP sequences.
I tried deleting plists for AME, PP and QT, repairing disc permissions and rebooting but there was no improvement.
Client is satisfied for now but will want to come back to this job at a later date so decided to uninstall and re-install AME and PP in the hope both would be ready to work properly when needed again. AME works fine in conjunction with a different PP project but now I can't open the PP project in question without the above error message appearing.
Having searched the net it would seem that the problem may be caused by ProRes but I haven't been able to find a definitive solution for the problem. Does anyone know either:
    1. How to fix this?
    2. If I chose the "modified using a custom sequence setting", can I be sure that my sequences will look the same even if they don't use ProRes? The final deliverable format will be mp4 so as long as the overall look doesn't change then I can  afford a change in the edit codec. It's just that with three sequences over an hour long, I don't want days of work to be ruined.
Other older PP projects of mine open and work fine.
    Premiere Pro CC 8.2.0
    Media Encoder CC 8.2.0.54
    OSX 10.10.2
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Duncan.

Adobe web chat come up with a solution.
    Open the PP project.
Export your sequence or project as a Final Cut Pro XML file.
Set up a new PP project.
Import the Final Cut Pro XML file.
This will get you back up an running.
Since getting back to editing this project I have found that some things will be lost or change in using XML:
You will lose position key framing, black video clips, dissolve fx, audio levels, audio dynamic fx, the ability to open a multi camera clip and change the camera view.
You will keep cut points, crop fx.
Not perfect but only took a couple of hours to save 3 days work.
