I work on a Mac, System 10.5.2 I use an Epson 1680 Expression scanner and mainly stay within Photoshop CS3. I upgraded from System 10.4. Immediately, I could not use my Silverfast Scanning software vers. 6.5. The scanner would prescan but when I went to do the final scan, it would freeze up both Silverfast and Photoshop CS3. Out of frustration, I removed Leopard and went back to 10.4. The scanning performed just fine. Hoping to discover out that all the initial quirks had been ironed out, I re -loaded Leopard after 4 months of not using it. I installed Silverfast's latest software 6.6, installed Epson's latest driver and the scanner worked once. In all cases, I've had to force quit Silverfast and Photoshop and restart both programs. Again, the scanner will scan correctly one time then will freeze up on the second try. I'm considering going back to 10. 4 again and staying there forever. Silverfast says it's the OS and so does Epson. I can't get a straight answer. Do you have any idea why this is going on? I'd like to be up to speed with everyone else but your new system seems to bite. Please help me.

I'm running a Mac System 10.5.2, using an Epson V750 with Photoshop CS3 and Silverfast 6.6 Ai IT8 and it works perfect,
normal scanning / batch scanning / multi-exposure scanning, everything's fine.

I can't recommend using the Vuescan software.
It lacks the very nice printer-calibration feature for example, wich is new in SilverFast 6.6.

I am using a Photoshop cs2, and I wonder if it is possible to keep the settings of the guidelines when closing an image, with the actual document ? It would be nice to have the guidelines locked down, I find it than when opening the same or another image, the guidelines are not locked, it is annoying to have to lock them down again. and it would actually be nice, to ba able to give specific directions when placing the guidelines. Thanks

MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU + All In Wonder Problem
I've got a odd problem that is related to putting my machine into Standby. If I do so the night before, then wake the system up in the morning I see issues that point to memory corruption or driver failure or a conflict with the VIA chipset. Outlook Express will lock up on launch, the ATI digital VCR app will either not launch or fail to shutdown if it does. I clean installed Windows XP, then updated it with XP SP1. Of note is that the video card works ok with the OS supplied driver but if you install the ATI drivers (which are needed to make the TV and Digital VCR work) this stuff happens. I have reinstalled several times so I am pretty sure this isn't just a messy config issue. I've had bad experiences similar to this with VIA chipset mobos in the past so this doesn't surprise me.
Anyone ever see this? Know of a fix?

I had issues with the latest drivers from ATI. I downloaded the tv capture drivers, display drivers, etc. in the 7.7 bundle. I went back to the 7.6 bundle and have had zero problems since. -
i lost my iphone4 yesterday..i have find my iphone apps in there and its updated to IOS 5. i wonder if they would be able to still access my accounts in there after i remote locked it.? its offline whenever i checked till now.. im wonderin if ist safe coz all my emails are there and all personal info..i hope someone could answer me..i reported to the police the ist step..coz when it happened ..policemen are there..then i went to the nearest MAC center and tried to track it..but its offline..so they asked me if i want to remote lock it..then i did...which i think the mcreason why i cant track my phone beacause its locked?? or not until they connect to wifi or 3g but its unabling them because i locked it..?
but when i do remote wipe ..it will erase everything in there and i cant track down the phone anyomore?

I uploded the new itunes software and now my ipod touch is not getting reconized in my itunes. I went through all the trouble shooting support from apple. But I do have a avast antivirus on my computer i wonder if that is what is holding it up

I just bought a recertified Mac Mini core duo - it's not the newer model-, and I wonder if anyone here knows if it's possible to hook up my Mac flat screen LCD monitor to it and using what adapters? I currently have a DVI to ADC adapter connected to my G4 Powermac.

When I connect the RCA Small Wonder to my MacBook Pro, the device is recognized in finder as EZ201. I tried to copy the video files in the folder but within a minute or two, I receive a message that the disk was ejected improperly, even though the device is still connected. I was able to download the first few videos before it stopped working and was able to play them using Perian. However, when I tried to connect the device again, it froze my system and I had to force a shut down by turning the computer off. Why is the device initially recongized but then shows as improperly ejected when it is still connected? How can I download the videos if the MacBook Pro won't allow the device to stay connected?

This is the one that has the files for the backups procured by the Time Machine program. But it can't "connect"-- You 'll see int he sideways pic (sorry!) that the options STILL says "connecting"

When I try to open an .ai/pdf file received through my email, it won't open and asks for a password. I have never set up any kind of password for email security, but have tried typing in my standard passwords. Nothing works. I wonder if it has anything to do with the use of my Wacom3 Tablet...I've been having trouble with it and was getting the same message when trying to open the User's Manual in my Applications/WacomTablet file on my hard drive. Any suggestions? I just downloaded the latest version for the Wacom and recently upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.7 (which I hate, and my CS3 hates, etc.)
It sounds like you have a a password-protected PDF. The password was set by the person who encoded it.

I've been reading the comments re FCPX on MacBook Pro and now I'm scared. I'm taking a class in FCPX and thinking about buying to do videos for nonprofits. Won't be fancy stuff, but now wonder if it's a good choice. Also, a classmate who was in CA last weekend said he heard that Apple will drop support of FCPX. Any truth? Advice?. I'm on 10.7.4 with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz. Thanks.

While it is against the TOU of these boards to speculate on future products/updates what Thomas said is right: FCPX is quite a new product and it doesn't make any sense to drop it now.
The only thing that MIGHT get dropped at a certain point is support for older hardware/OS as FCP X progresses. -

Unless you've done anything to change it, Google keeps every email that ever passes through their server in your All Mail folder/mailbox/label. Even if you delete stuff, they hold onto it, there. You have to go out of your way to actually delete anything permanently.

I wonder how pro photographers use aperture?I shoot raw and my harddrive is alreay full.I'm not able to import new pictures. I don't know what to do. I created a vault. My plan was to create a vault(put all my master files into an external harddrive) and then delete all my projects in my mac pro's harddrive. Is it the correct way to do it ? What should I do if I have thousands of raw files ? How should my workflow be? Can I use an external HD and use aperture through the vault,without keeping the master files on my computer's hard drive?? Or should I shoot raw+jpeg and store raw files in an external backup harddrive and import only jpegs into my aperture library?
There's a bit to learn. It will slowly make sense.
Aperture is an empty field. You're given a tractor and a whole bunch of attachments. What you grow, how, and where, is entirely up to you.
Vaults are for back-up and only for back-up. They have nothing to do with storing your working files.
When your Library outgrows your system drive (and for good performance, you should leave c. 20% of every drive empty), it's time to convert some of your image's Masters from Managed to Referenced. ("Managed" and "Referenced" refer to Masters, not to Libraries.)
There are hundreds of posts in the forum, and several pages in the User Manual on using Masters.
Many people run Aperture with the Library on their system disk, and most (or all) of their images' Masters on external FW drives. This is a good set-up. Note that you will likely have to take steps to back-up the data on your external drives.
If you do the above, there should be no reason to delete any Projects.
The choice of RAW or RAW+JPEG or JPEG depends on the kind of work you are doing. I capture RAW only -- but I don't do any commercial shoots. Pros on deadlines report that the RAW+JPEG works well for them. Capture JPEG if it saves you time. IMHO, there is not a good reason to shoot JPEG to save space (space is cheap; time expensive).
Short-term solution: buy and use a FW800 external 1 TB drive, formatted "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", and using Aperture relocate the Masters of all images older than 30 days to that drive. (Be sure to change your back-up strategy to include this new drive; you may need a second new drive.)

Within the page for New Twitter, it is constantly refreshing the page. If I'm reading, it refreshes and I lose my place. If I'm typing a tweet it refreshes and deletes everything I've typed. I do not have any add-ons installed; basic list of extensions (Java Consoles; multiple versions), though I MS .net framework 1.1 has had trouble updating and is currently disabled and so is my Norton AV toolbar.
Again this only started happening 7-10 days ago, and I wonder if there was an update to Firefox or an extension/plugin perhaps causing this. Have had to resort to using Twitter on IE8. :(Does it help if you make the Find bar (Ctrl+F) or the Add-ons bar (Ctrl+/) (Firefox > Options or View > Toolbars) visible?
