I would like a medium gray background while typing.

I'm assuming that I'm not the only one where writing black on a white background is light trying to type with someone shining a flashlight into my eyes. I would much prefer to be able to set the ground to a (user adjustable for color and brightness/darkness) medium gray that would be easier on my eyes.
I've found that I can change the paragraph background to a medium gray for when I am typing and then just before printing I can select all and turn it off.
That is a pain for a few reasons.
1) I have to manually do this each time.
2) I keep forgetting to highlight all the text, change the paragraph background back to white, print, then change it all back to medium gray.
3) When doing this I also need to create enough blank lines below where I am typing so that I don't see the "white" part of the page while I'm typing. Now I can't just jump down to the bottom of the page to continue if I need to go back up and look up something or change something.

I have already sent this in as feedback. But if anyone has an easier way to do this now I would appreciate it.
WordPerfect is the only thing I miss from when I used to use Windows and DOS before it. If I only had the attention span and time I would make a WP clone for Mac. I don't, so I'm stuck with what I can buy or download.
There are other word processors out there, some of them have what I'm asking for. But they are ugly to look at and are very poor at working with both text and graphics in a publishing kind of way. I'm not heavily into publishing but have to do some brochures which Pages is really good at which is why I'm using Pages.

If you want the whole of the project background to be white, you can change the colour in FCP X preferences.
If you just want white for a section or clip, use a custom Generator from the Generators Library and change it to white in the Inspector.

Yeah and there's lots of people who disagree with this exactly because they want to run Pandora (or Skype) in the background. Do a search for "iphone and background apps" and see everyone get in a tiss. Ultimately the iPhone could do this but Apple chooses not to allow it, except for it's own apps (like iTunes).
However, I guess because I'm not a Pandora user, I actually pretty OK with this restriction. There are valid reasons why not to allow this, including:
1) Battery life if an app you didn't realise is running in the background.
2) Net usage charges if you had an app running in the background using up all your included download limits.
3) Potential that phone will slow down if it runs out of memory/processor time.
4) Makes the phone more complicated - do you really want to have to run a task manager type application so you can kill rouge processes?
But, saying that I can see why some people would want it and it is frequently given as a reason why an iPhone is not as good as other smartphones (though my my above rational I don't think that argument is as clear cut as people make out).

You can make use of X11's screensaver extension to get a system's idle time:
(taken from the code for sinac)

Of course, that only gives you the duration of the idle time. To do something after a specified timeout of x seconds, you could make use of a loop that checks the time spent idle, then sleeps for (x - seconds_idle(d)) seconds. On the next iteration of the loop, if the system has been idle long enough, whatever action you want to do can be triggered.

I've just installed the newest desktop version of the Firefox browser because my Opera doesn't feel very well these days. I'm trying to become friends with Firefox, and that's why I've changed the new tab settings in order to have my offline homepage loaded every time I open a new tab. There is an inconvenience — when I press Ctrl+T, the cursor appears at the end of the URL. It means that when I start typing, the letters show in the address bar after the URL of my homepage, so what I need is to clear the field first.
Is there a way to get rid of this? (If it helpes, I'm currently using Windows 7.)

Then you can use (Ctrl+L and) Ctrl+A to select all the text in the location bar or Shift+Home/End.

Email window jumps to the background while typing an email

I am using OS version 10.7.1 and mail version 5.0. For some reason, and I can't really isolate what is causing it, when I am typing the window will jump to the background. It seems to occur most often when I am typing an address in the "To" section. I will just hit a key, and the window will disappear to the background. I then click "window" and see it and bring it to the front, but it is becoming a real problem. has anyone else had this problem? I searched the forums and could find an answer.

I have a 2 inch gray bar across the top of my home page now after dragging a few windows around my desk top. I'm not sure if it's a mozilla thing or google thing but it just appeared and I would like to get rid of it. g

My home page is just www.google.com with a search box and a picture of some planets as a background from my computer. While I was dragging the restored down browser window, I slipped with my mouse and now I have a light gray two inch bar across the top of my background picture. It's below the; Search-Images-YouTube-News-Gmail-More icons. When I right click on it and select inspect Element (Q) it says div#gbx1.gbqfh in three different colors. I would like to get rid of it, but I don't know if it's a google or Mozilla issue. I know google has been changing things so it wouldn't surprise me if it was just a coincidence.

As an example, I'm going to my email in safari, while I wait for it to load, I open an excel document, and the OS decides excel should be the front app, so I go back to safari so I can enter my login info, but halfway through my password the OS decides that excel is where I should finish typing my password.

I want to be able to change my projectors default background while using my mac book pro. Currently it is showing Apple's signature background. I would like to change it to a plain black background so that when I disengage mirroring the screen the audience sees will go black; thus allowing me to make any necessary changes/switch programs and then engage mirroring. Any suggestions besides using a video switcher?

Hi you can create messages from two places either from the standard help menu.
help->create support message
or
test workbench status message->click messages tab and then click create button.
Now go to tcode Solution_manager
select your landscape and then press execute button you will get the list of all messages with status ,person create d and person responsible.
if you click any one you can go into the details of the same.

That is not a feature of iPhoto - suggest to Apple - iPhoto Menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback.
