I would like to AirPlay mirror my iMac and be able to use both my magic mouse and wireless keyboard, but the bluetooth range won't let me. Is there a way to extended its range?
I am buying an iMac to AirPlay mirror on my big screen TV with AppleTV (2nd generation). But my TV is located far away from my iMac and I won't be able to use my magic mouse or wireless keyboard via bluetooth connection. I know I can use an app to simulate both mouse and keyboard, but I really need to use the actual devices.
I wish there was a way to pair them to my iPad or iPhone, via bluetooth, and control my iMac via network. It is a cheap solution, as I wouldn't need to buy any other device. I believe all these devices, without modifications, have enough technology to be able to work as I've imagined. The only need was to adapt the software.
Is there a solution simple as this one, or do I have to buy a Bluetooth extender in order to use my magic mouse and wireless keyboard? If so, which BT extender do you suggest and what is its range?

If you are still under warranty, contact Apple to get it serviced. You can also visit an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider to get it looked at.

I would like to have one apple ID and sign in for the Australian Apple Store and for the New Zealand Apple Store without it asking me to switch stores. Is this possible? If not can I setup two stores (one in each country) using the same email address and same password (both and / or either)?
An iTunes account can only be used in one store at a time, and you need to be in that country with a valid billing address on your account for that country in order to use it there. An email address can only be linked to one account, so if you want two separate iTunes accounts then you will need two email addresses

I bought a new iMac today. I'm using migration assistant to move all my software, but the time just keeps getting longer. It says connect an Ethernet cable for faster data transfer. I did, but that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

Are you migrating from a Mac or a MS Window machine? Either way you probably should be in touch with AppleCare, you have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support. I have Premier Elements 12 and recently changed my computer to an iMac. I want to re-register my software on the iMac but the Adobe system won't let me. Anyone have an answer? Cheers Brian

I did not see your post 4 until after I had posted just now.
That is one of the drawbacks related to purchasing Premiere Elements as a download from Adobe...the download is specific to the Windows or Mac operating system to which it is downloaded. So all you have purchased that way are the installation files and a serial number for Premiere Elements 12 Windows. If you had purchased Premiere Elements 12 in the box packaging, that comes with a disc for Windows and a disc for Mac.
How long ago did you purchase Premiere Elements 12 Windows? If within 30 days of purchase, you can look into a 30 day money back from Adobe. But you cannot purchase the box packaging from Adobe. It only offers the download purchase from it. You would have to buy from an authorized reseller if you wanted the boxed purchase.
The way it is now, you will need to purchase new installation files and serial number for Premiere Elements 12 for your iMac.
That is the situation that I believe exists. More information if needed.

I like to have instant access to all my bookmarks as I keep my RSS links and current projects up there. When there are too many to fit in one row across the screen firefox makes a little pull down menu at the end with all the rest in. I find this really annoying, its just the same as the normal bookmarks menu; I find it really hard to keep things organised when I can't see them all the time. I would like it to make a second or even third row in the tool bar so I can always see all my current RSS and Pages. Can I do this? If it wont work on firefox does anyone know of another FS, OS or FOSS browser that will?
Unfortunately, the extension does not work with Firefox 4, and Alice have no intentions to upgrade it.

Problem with iMac and Wireless keyboard
The hard drive was faulty on my iMac. It took it into the AppleCare centre and they replaced the hard drive.
When I got the imac back none of the function keys work on my keyboard. For example when I press F11 and F12 keys they no longer adjust my volume.
I went into System Preferences > Keyboard and made sure that the "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys" was unticked. And still it makes no difference.
Is there something else I need to check, or could the AppleCare centre have done something wrong with my iMac?Do you have a backup wired mouse? If you do delete your Bluetooth evices and Re+pair them with your system. Then you can try the Resets, which won't hurt.

I have two Imacs 6 feet apart. One has no problem connecting to the wireless mouse and keyboard. The other indicates it can"t find it"s wireless mouse and keyboard.

I have two monitor speakers that I would like to airplay to from my iMac. Is this possible? Is there an adapter or receiver? The monitor speakers are KRK VXT8.
They have a trial version you can test before you purchase. It limits you to 10 minutes of streaming before it starts inserting noise into the stream.
But you may not need it. I've read a bit further, and it appears that you may be able to stream any system audio to an Airport Express without needing AirFoil since you have Mountain Lion. I though it would work only with an Apple TV, but I've seen mention that it works with the AE as well (I don't have one to try). When you get your Airport Express set up, go to the Sound (speaker) icon in the menu bar, hold down the Option key, and click the icon. You may see the AE listed there as a selectable output device; if so, select it and all your system audio should be sent to the AE, including Spotify.

I have just gone from PCM to MacBook Pro retina and would like to now go to imac. Is it worth waiting for retina on imac and when will it arrive

As a Mac man yourself do you think that the retina display is worth waiting for?
I'm 65, have used Macs since 1989, and struggle with displays, cataracts, and bifocals. What I've seen of the Retinas in stores is that text size gets sacrificed for image quality. There are quite a few complaints about Retina in the MacBook Pro forums about not being able to increase the size of menu text without it getting fuzzy.
My iMac 27-inch is about a year old and I can set the display res from its default of 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 and everything is sharp. I understand that handy trick will not work for either the older hi-res macbook pros or the Retinas, so I don't expect it for any other Macs.
Speculation on Apple policy and new product releases is actiually not allowed by the Terms of Use around here so I doubt you'll get an answer to the "when" part. Anyone who does answer "when" is either guessing it up or violating a non-disclosure agreement! Apple plays its cards close to its vest and we average users only know "when" when Apple posts the announcement.
