I would like to burn pictures to a disk in a certain order, not according to file numbers -is this possible?

Im using IPhoto and would like to burn an album to a DVD. In the album, I have put the pictures in the order I want them.  But it appears when I export them to burn on a DVD, they go in numerical order.  Is there a way to burn the album with the pictures in the order I want them to be in?

No.
Files don't have an order. They're just on the disk. The FInder can view them in a number of ways: sorted by name, date, size etc, but that's all. The only way to reliably get them to show in a preferred order is to name them... Pic_01.jpg, Pic_02.jpeg etc.
Fast way to do this:
Create an Album in iPhoto, drag the images you want to the album and arrange them as you prefer.
Then select all and go Photos -> Batch Change
Set the Title to... Text, and add, well whatever is appropriate.
Check the box to append a number to each photo.
So now they are all there in order as Text 01, Text 02 etc.
Now Export them. File -> Export
In the export dialogue there are a number of options that you can read about here:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
But from the point fo view of naming, in the export dialogue choose to use the Title.
Complete the export to a folder on the desktop.
Now you have a folder of files called Text01, Text 02 and so on.
Burn that to disk.

  • I'm new with my Mac. I have downloaded a gopro video to iPhoto and now I would like to burn it to a disk. How do I make this happen? Does it need to run threw iMovie?

Hello,  Im new with Mac. Ive downloaded a GoPro video to iphoto and now I would like to burn it to a disk. What is the best way to go about this? Do I need to do this in imovie?

I assume you want to burn a video DVD that will play in a DVD player on a TV set, correct?
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag  movie file into the open iDVD window for iDVD's Media/Photos pane being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
There are a couple of other video DVD authoring application available from the App Store. They don't have the versatility that iDVD has.  I've not used any of them so can't comment on their effectiveness.  I do, however, believe that there's no app that can do as well as iDVD in creating a prefessional looking video DVD.

Yes, by using a third-party utility such as Phone to PC or Phone to Mac.

  • I have iMovie 10.0.2 and I would like to burn a movie to a DVD. I can't figure out how to do this.

Any help I would be grateful for! Thanks

Make your movie and then "Share to File".
In the next dialog window change the dimension to 480 and use that file with iDVD.
OP: Do you have iDVD? Most newer Macs don't have it.
If you don't have it, go to youtube.com and search for "Burn files to a DVD on Mac" and burn the file that QuickTimeKirk suggested. Just keep in mind that is won't create a DVD with menues and such. It will just be a file on a DVD. It should work in a DVD player, but you'll want to test that to make sure.
Another option would be to use a thumb drive (handy if you have over 5 GB of videos) or an AppleTV (which is a nice way to view home movies and photos on your HDTV).

  • I would like to edit a shot with a person moving whilist everything around them is frozen. Is this possible?

    Please help

    eeeasy, have a look
    https://youtu.be/4OQDTVPEpJ8
    ok, just kiddin' ....
    What Luis said:
green screen the movin' person into a 'frozen' pic.
Don't move the camera (no pan, no zoom).
An use a masking tool, so the movin' person could go 'behind' persons/things. This would add some depth to scenery.
I once did that for a test, with masking:
    https://youtu.be/DrkQrrw1GUk
(afaik, it's called 'future freeze' )
but that is vice versa what you like to accomplish:
... that's done with masking and Motions Motion-Tracker, to keep the freeze in place....

  • I have a great number of Hi8 video tapes and I would like to burn them onto CDs through MacBook Pro (ME665LL/A), but I do not know how to transfer those footage into Mac. What would you recommend?

Hello everybody! My question is; my parents and I have a great number of video tapes (Hi8 and mini DV) and since I purchased a MacBook Pro (ME665LL/A) I would like to burn them onto CDs, but I do not know how to transfer those footage into Mac. What would you recommend(it can be a software, a hardware or combination of both)? By the way, I also purchased an external DVD-RW(Asus SDRW-08D2S) separately.

Just Google "convert hi8 to dvd" and you'll find a number of software/hardware combinations that will allow you to do what you want. One important piece of the puzzle is whether or not you still have access to the video recorder(s) that the movies were shot on.
    Good luck,

  • I would like to copy pictures stored in Events in iPhoto '11 on my iMac to my MacBook Pro which is running iPhoto '09.  Is this possible without losing the organization of the Events?

I would like to copy pictures stored in Events in iPhoto '11 on my iMac to my MacBook Pro which is running iPhoto '09.  Is this possible without losing the organization of the Events?

    Only way to do it:
Export each Event to folders in the Finder from the iPhoto 11 machine, copy those folders to the 09 machine. Import them.
Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.

  • Would like to add pictures to claim, option to upload does not exist

I had a cake delivered to my mother in law and it was totally different than what was advertised. I filed a dispute with the seller and stated that the item was not as described. Seller went ahead and escalated it to a claim while replying substitutions are acceptable per the terms on their page. They delivered a significantly inferior and different product than as described and I would like to attach pictures as proof showing this. I see files can be attached but at this time it says "none." I want to make sure the paypal team sees the pictures before making a decision, because it's just unbelievable how inferior and different the actual cake is that was delivered. There's no way I could have expected what was actually delivered, even accounting for substitutions. Please help!

You can only send piccies if paypal ask for them. What you could have done was put in detail before the dispute was escalated the reasons the item was so above and beyond what was ordered. However I have to say that paypal do tend to find in favour of the buyer BUT you may have to return the item back to the seller trackable at your own expense before getting a refund. If the seller is a registered business then you can pursue them for return shipping costs (if that is what happened) via a small claims court or similar in your country.    *****************************************  I give up my time to help you so a thank you or kudos would be cool.
Marking one of my replies as a solution would be appreciated if I sorted your problem.

  • Hi, I made a slide show with music from 81 photos I downloaded from my camera.  I would like to burn these to a blank DVD, but there appears to be no utility for export to a DVD for slide shows.  Help.  I want to distribute DVD copies to classmates

Hi, I made a slide show with music from 81 photos I downloaded to iphoto from my camera.  I would like to burn the slide show to DVD, but can't make this happen.  How do I go about doing this?

If the DVD is to play on a DVD Player, then Share -> Send to iDVD as iDVD is the only app that creates the correct file structure and format for this purpose.
If the DVD is just to hold the file, then Export to the desktop and burn with the Finder.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your best method would be to connect via USB and transfer that way, since videos are not transferred using photostream.
However you can stop photos on your mac being added to photostream in the iPhoto preferences > photostream by unchecking the automatic upload box.

I would like to burn a home movie from imovie. How may I do this? I have imported from a viedo camera  to imovie and cannot burn it to a blank dvd! ***?

    Buy iDVD.
    http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/idvd.html
With iDVD you can easily and quickly create DVDs with menus and graphics almost on the level of what Hollywood can do.
IDVD is easy to get. It is available on disk as part of iLife 11.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.  (works with all Mac OS 10.5 and newer.)
