I hope that someone in the community can help - I called the Apply main number in the US and the guy was clueless - he was even surprised that there are different time zones in other parts of the world. Yep, I'm an American in Paris and realize that after 7 years here that I just don't want to switch to a french keyboard. I'm in the market for a new MacBook Pro Retina (I already have one but am changing jobs), but can't seem to figure out how to buy one from Paris. Apple doesn't ship outside the US...
Any ideas?

Found some items on Google for what you can do, customize when buying, swapping out ($US200 it sounded like) so it is possible.

If you buy a brand new one, the tip is to order the devise directly at the online apple store and to ask for the free option Canadian keyboard. Canadian keyboard are also azerty! The apple.ca store lists an English or French BTO option. But I don't know if that's the "real" French layout or the Quebec government's stipulated CSA layout. And maybe one with the QWERTY or maybe QWERTZ layout.

I went to Power Buy in Central world and found out that the keyboard for the macs have thai characters as well as English ones. I wanted to buy a mac with plain English keyboard. In terms of screen real estate, I don't care much for it as I usually work relatively close to the pixel sizes and I generally work in very dum conditions so the antiglare is something I also dont care for. If mac offered a Matt finish screen again it would be a dream lol.
Retina though sweet is really just a gimmick, stare at one screen, starred at them all, so I'm fine with the regular MBP.
And size does matter.

You need to have a backup disk drive before you ever make changes to your system; to the partitions and hard drives. Most users at a minimum use TimeMachine to backup their system to an external disk drive, which a WD MyBook Mac 2TB are about $99.

It's difficult to get one at a shop or Apple Online Store because build-to-order Macs aren't available at them unless they are very popular.
The only option you have is to call Apple (1-800-MY-APPLE) and see if you can order a MacBook Pro with a Portuguese keyboard. In case you can, this will take days because it has to be ordered and delivered to the USAFD

I would not even ask a friend to *just hold* it for 25 days, as you have a 14 day grace period to return "for any reason" and that time should be spent using it to determine if there are issues.
You may also owe considerable "import duties" if you bring back a system purchased in the US. Your own country may want to take its 20+% (just guessing) import duties when you return home.

FYI, I have the same issue. I converted from MS Office 2010 to Mac Office 2011 by importing .pst files several months ago and I have noticed that many emails, which I originally received in MS 2010 but coverted to Mac 2011, show the paperclip as if there is an attachment. But when I open the email, the attachment is not there.
At this point I cannot find any pattern as to why some converted emails retained their attachment and other emails appear to have retained their attachment but the attachment is not visible.
I can confirm that there actually is an attachment by opening up MS Office 2010, but that is a huge pain becasue I have to open Parallels to do that. I have no issues with any attachments received in Mac Office 2011.
I spent an hour opening up a ticket with MS, sent them .pst files with examples and the guy was able to confirm that he could open the attachment in MS, but not Mac. BUT, of course, I was told that I would not be apprised of any ticket updates and that the only way I would know if the issues was fixed was when I was finally able to view attachments that I was not able to view previously.
