I don't have access to one.
I don't understand why the new address book is not backwards compatible with the data from former OS X versions.
In 10.8. preview was still able to read the files although it was already impossible to import them into the address book. But Why?

If you want to remove your Apple ID from the iPad you can just sign out in Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. That will not delete the apps from the iPad. He will not be able to update the apps without your username and password and he will have to sign in again in order to that.
If he is going to use his own Apple ID and he begins to switch and back and forth from one ID to the other - and if he downloads anything again using your ID, he will lock himself out of his own ID for 90 days.
If you are asking how to remove your email account from the iPad go to Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>your email account>Delete account. That will not cause you to lose any apps either.

Can someone please help, I have a dvd disk containing lecture videos, on a Windows pc it works fine, and the disk opens to the dvd menu. However on my macbook pro running Mountain Lion, it opens as a data disk, with video and audio in two seprate files??

Humor me. When you perform copy, do you then establish keyboard focus by clicking the mouse pointer on the destination screen for the paste action -- before keying the paste?
Have you installed any third-party keystroke mapping software that may be getting between the operating system and these two applications?
Under System Preferences > Accessibility > Keyboard, have you enabled Sticky, Slow, or EEK! Keys?

I would like to open a PDF file from my downloads and read it without all the resistance
When I try to open a PDF Adobe file from my downloads I get a screen that resists further use, I cannot open the file. Adobe seems to suggest that I have to purchase something or that the file is corrupted. All these files cannot be corrupted. This should not be so difficult, in the 21st century. Would like to be a smooth user.

I have been trying to transfer my iTunes library from my old PC to our new HP PC (Windows 8.1). We did back up our old PC files to an external harddrive but the iTunes files are 'jumbled'when I open them on the new PC and not in any format - only streams of titles etc., Is there a simple way to transfer my library to the new PC. Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to do. If you are trying to import content over homesharing from a computer you no longer have, you are out of luck. If you are just trying to redownload purchased content, you don't need homesharing. -
i downloaded the Mavs about 2 days ago. it restarted automatically as it stated... i have not really used it again until tonight. and boy was i so ******!

Thanks!You don't need to downgrade. If it worked in Mountain Lion it will work in Mavericks. Do this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
