Learning more about the features in PS touch

I was looking at PS touch, maybe for my ipod mini.
I was hoping to get more of a sense of what the features are, but it seems Adobe has replaced information with hype, giving us the Disney version of what their programs are about.
I'd like to know more about the features of PS Touch, specifically:
I assume I can use layers, but do they have modes such as darken, lighten, overlay, soft light, etc?
Can I create masks in these layers, so I have control over which part of the layer is applied to the image?
Does the curves tool have more than 3 points to adjust, can you add points as with full PS?
If I was working off my camera's memory card hooked up to the iPod mini, can I then do a save as of the image I'm working on, either saving it to the card or my device (in part to create a new image and to also keep the original) ?
It's very frustrating that this information is not more readily available to us. also, I may have missed it, but i didn't see a link to the forums from the Adobe pages, not under Learning, or about Adobe, or?

Yes, PS Touch uses layer blending modes just like in Photoshop (and Photoshop Elements). It doesn't have *every* blending mode, but the basics (like the ones you listed) are there.
The best that I can explain it as far as "masks" in PS Touch goes is that you paint your desired effect onto your image (via the Effects Paint tool). You do not need a mask layer per se as the effect is contained as you paint over the desired area. (You can adjust size, hardness, flow and opacity of the brush in this tool. If you have a tablet with pressure-senstive support, you can control size and opacity as well dynamically like you would with a Wacom graphics tablet connected to a desktop.)
You can add/subtract as many points as you want in the Curves adjustment. (There's a general Curves adjustment and one provided under the Effects Paint tool; both use the same interface for options.)
I don't think so, as the file system in PS Touch is self-contained (at least under Android; not sure about iOS). When you go to save a project, it's added into the main interface. (You can create folders to manage these projects, btw.) You can then export projects under a desired file type (like PSD or JPEG) locally or to a service like Adobe's own Creative Cloud or Dropbox.

There are two ways to address Still Image Duration. One is global, and applied before Import. One would determine the approximate Duration desired, go to Edit>Preferences>General>Still Duration. Then, all Stills Imported will have that Duration (as will Titles, and New Items, like Black Video).
Once that general Duration has been set, one can still, and on an Image by Image basis, click + drag on the Still Image's Head, or Tail, to adjust the Duration. When doing that, I like to have the Info Panel open and visible, to see exactly what Duration I have changed to.

Where can I learn more about the Logic Environment?

I've been using LogicPro for a while now - since version 7 came out - and I'm ready to learn more about the mysterious Logic Environment. Anyone know of a good tutorial or website on this topic? I don't have a specific question - what I need is a general overview.
My sessions are primarily audio recording and mixing with a virtual instrument from time to time. I rarely use MIDI except to play the synths and instruments.
My environmental experience so far has been limited to creating and naming audio objects, accessing "hidden" faders and as an alternate to the mix views provided in the global and track mixers.
I'd prefer free advice but I'm not against paying if it's worth it. I have read the manual but I have a feeling that it will be more helpful once I have a better grasp on the big picture. It's a reference manual more than a how-to.
My MIDI devices are an Axiom-61 and PreSonus FaderPort.

Apple has what they call "online seminars" available on the main Logic page

If you look on the bottom right hand side of the page, you see a link for online seminars. You'll have to go through a regstration process, then you can watch 3 or 4 streaming Quicktime videos of people using different functions in Logic. There's nothing really in depth there, but it does show you a few useful shortcuts and methods.

Thanks - I guess it is like there were two of me!
I bought the iPhone first and it seemed natural to link it to the (work) e-mail address which was in constant use. The iMac for home use came next and it seemed natural to use my home e-mail address, particularly as I knew by then that I would lose the work address after my imminent retirement. The same logic went for the recent puchase of the MacAir. I am not sure what happened with the iPad (also a recent purchase) - iTunes seemed to puch me towards the same ID as the iPhone.
It is not a huge problem - just makes my persona look schizoid! Otherwise very happy with everything Apple.

While doing some research, i came across some nice Adobe softwares like Adobe Muse and Adobe Edge Animate.
Which one would you recommend me to learn and master? I have also been looking at Adobe After Effects and it seems to be very nice too. I know it's mainly for those in the cinematographic industry but I think it might be useful for me to have some kinda knowledge about it, especially for making some Intros and animations for logos. What do you think about it?

After Effects is excellent for doing motion graphics. However, it's a pretty powerful program - thus hard to jump into and learn. Start here if you want to learn it: Getting started with After Effects
I would suggest you focus more on the software that does what you want to do (web) and leave After Effects for doing video work.

Want to learn more about the command line for Mac OS X

Hi, I'm kind of new here...I've been using my MacBook since last summer, however I want to really get a feel of the command line and would like some recommendations on how to learn more about it.
Looks like it is based off of BSD, and I've been using Linux for about 10 years now and also have a CompTIA Linux+ cert, however some of the commands aren't the same.
So, if anyone can post some websites/recommendations that would be great.

Buy any one or more of the many books available at Amazon.com about Unix under OS X. Linux and Unix are related but not the same. Even FreeBSD Unix is not the same as what's implemented under the OS X hood.
And you will find other good books at PeachPit.com.

The call library function require us to define the type of parameter that w are using.The type of parameter in cludes numeric, array, string,waveform and adapt to type.I would like to know more about waveform and adapt to type.

In the labview manual, there is very little mention about the use of waveform.How is this waveform being called and can i have an example to see how this work.
Also in the adapt to type paramete, what does this parameter do and in what circumstances do we need to use it.The manual say something about the use of this parametr.It says that scalar elements in arrays or clusters are in line.For example a cluster containing anumeric is passed as pointer to a structure containing a numeric. I'm going to share my experience with the "Adapt to Type" parameter.
Attached to this message is an example. The attachment is a zip file with three files: a dll, a c file and a vi written in LabVIEW 6. The dll contains a function that return a structure with 3 values (like the coordinates of a point in space, that is, (x, y, z)). You can see how the function was constructed by looking at the c file.
In LabVIEW, I created a cluster with the same three parameters. Then, I configured the call library function following the function prototype as in the c file. For the point variable I use "Adapt to Type".
I hope this can give you a head star.

I think my hard drive's dead; would like to know more about support

This is a couple questions, but namely, what's the most effective way to get your iMac turned in for repair? Should I just schedule a time to go to a Genius bar and bring it in, or do I need to go through the whole process of making a support phone call?
My iMac had a problem yesterday with a blinking question mark folder. I tried doing a disk repair, but it failed a couple times on me. I then formatted the drive (I have Time Machine, so I'm hoping I have that backed up at least), reinstalled OS X, but then it wouldn't boot afterwards.
After looking at the forums, I've seen a couple tips on getting some more verbose output from the monitor when booting (like holding Command + V for verbose output, Command + Option + P + R for resetting the PRAM (or VRAM?)), and after getting a more verbose output, I'm pretty sure this error clinched it for me:
/etc/rc: line 258: 27 Segmentation fault launchctl load /Library/LaunchDaemons /System/Library/LaunchDaemons /etc/mach_init.d
SystemStarter[29]: ipconfig waitall: Segmentation fault
So now I'm packing up my computer to take to support. I believe a seg. fault is about as bad as a hard drive can get when it dies, but I was wondering if anyone knows how good support is with these kinds of repairs, what kind of response I could expect from the Genius Bar, turnaround for a new hard drive (or will they just switch my whole computer out with another that works?), etc., etc.
I purchased the AppleCare, so I have coverage until 2010, so I should be covered.

You could schedule an appointment and then take the Mac in for repair. Alternatively, you could call Applecare and schedule a home repair. I know of a couple of people who have done this and were satisfied. If the drive does need to be repaired/replaced) be sure you get good instructions on retrieving your data (there are knowledge base articles that address that process (looks straightforward, but I have not done it myself).
As far as the name change, I think it would make sense just to set up an entirely new profile (as you only have six posts on this one). One of the things I did when I first signed on many moons ago is to decide that my name (not an alias) would be most useful. That has proved to be the case.

Well?I been thinking of buying the Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro instead of using my onboard sound. But I started to read on other fourms and product reviews and its about half split between on using a digital optical connection. I have these speakershttp://www.klipsch.com/products/deta...gmx-d-5-.aspx??(copy and paste)and I tried using all other connection that it has and they all gave very poor sound quality, all except when I went and bought a? digital fiber optical cord then it improved 0%. But when I went to make my back speakers louder I can not adjust any of the speakers.:smileysurprised: In fact I really can't control anything! So then I tried using the other connection?and I could controll the front right and left but had?poor sound and still not being able to control the others. So my question is if I buy this sound card will it fix all my problems like not being able to control each speaker?speakers? Another thing sense I have this hub will it even work with a sound card like this or (last resort) would I just be better off buying a new pair of speakers and this sound card (really don't want to get new ones?saying these are only 2 months old)? Wait until a PCIe Version of X-FI hits the market. Dont buy a PCI X-FI now. This card isnt worth the price in a new system because of SCP and many problems. Even if this card is working in your system perfectly, in Windows Vista there are many problems to solve for creative, especially Directsound is a missing factor in this OS which isnt adressed now. Alchemie is working, but it is not a solution for every game, and it looks like "patching" but not solving an issue. Creative is not to blame for this, but i think with a new PCIe X-FI creative will make a step ahead. I hope they will! I hope Microsoft will include Directsound again. I remember there was a similiar situation with WinXP and OpenGL. but implementing OpenGL is easier, because it requires?only a DLL file. I have too add that my X-FI is running fine in most ways, i can produce SCP with my SCSI controller, but i dont use this thing in normal way. It allows for text formatting (like various fancy fonts, lists, links, colors etc). you can open TextEdit and play with it. Plain text allows for none of that. you can only type text and that's it.
Mail converts Rich Text to html when you send messages composed in Rich Text. as i said most mail clients should understand it but there may be some problems. I don't have much experience with other mail clients so can't say more.
