I would like to revert back to Leopard Dock in Mavericks. Is it possible?

Hi, I started this topic on non-developers forum (I'm an ordinary user, not a developer) but as it turned out I should expect little help from them therefore I decided to take chances here. So, I would like VERY MUCH to have Leopard's Dock though I'm on Mavericks. I know that since Leopard's Dock was a PPC app it can't be extracted from Leopard's combo update and simply placed in CoreServices folder. I've browsed Internet but to no avail and I don't want to install too much third-party software that won't find use in my environment. The only solution could be to ask whether it's possible to have the means to make that app that would be working on Mavericks? If yes, then how to accomplish it, I'm catching on quickly, so I think I could afford this task, if I get some advices.
Or maybe I should request here if someone agrees to write such version of the app, I'm sure many other users would gladly have this Dock, because since ML (or even Lion) Dock wasn't much favorably acclaimed (especially its active apps indicators are designed poorly).
Would be glad to hear from you,
I.S.

Had you looked into existing Dock Modifiers for Mavericks, as in the past, some persons
did create and distribute this kind of product, often for free or little expense?
A revisit to the generalized topic may be seen in this results URL from a search on theme:
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=dock+modification+mavericks
Hopefully you can make use of some of these existing ideas and/or products, but do be
wary of some that may not be what they pretend to be; least you get adware or ??? stuff.
Good luck & happy computing!

If you want to reformat your machine and re-install all your apps and then restore from an earlier version of Time Machine  you can. However if I were you I'd update the apps.

No.  Apple does not support downgrading to iOS 6 or earlier.

  • I would like to go back to my old version. Version 4 does not support my Afrikaans spell checker etc.

Most of my work is done in Afrikaans en therefore my spell checker is vital to me. Your latest version is not compatible to the available spell checker and so I would like to revert back to the older version.
    Kind Regards

A spell checker that works in Firefox 3.6 should also work in Firefox 4.0 even if not listed as compatible.
You can force Firefox to install the spell checker or re-enable it if it has been disabled by installing the Add-on Compatibility Reporter extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter

  • Now running lion would like to go back to snow leopard

running lion would like to go back to snow leopard what do I need to do

Insert a Mac OS X 10.6 install DVD, restart with the C key held down, and install it onto a blank drive or partition. If desired, use the Disk Utility to erase the volume with Lion installed.
If you have a Time Machine backup or bootable clone of Snow Leopard, you can restore it instead of reinstalling the OS.

  • REVERT BACK TO LEOPARD

I use Time Machine to backup my Mac. I would like to revert to 10.5 after upgrading to SL, but I don't want to lose all the other changes to files, mail, etc. by doing so. Can anyone help me out?
    Just me venting:
I really can't believe that Apple released SL in the state that it's in...never again will I upgrade before the first patch, update, etc. This just screams Vista all over again to me. I'm really disappointed.

Why not just back up your files as they stand now by dragging and dropping onto an external--even the one TM is on assuming there is room.
Then, If you want to go back to Leopard, you will need to do an erase and install. I would first try the Leopard (i.e., 10.5) DVD. But, you may have to use the Snow Leopard (i.e., 10.6) DVD for the erase part. Let's assume the first for now. Startup from the DVD by holding down c when starting up. Next, when able, choose your language and stop. Then, using the menus at the top, select Disk Utility and erase you drive. Next, quit Disk Utility and continue the install. After the install is complete, insert your Leopard applications disk and install the programs you want. Now, you are done.
In the other case, you will have to exit the installer after exiting Disk Utility. Next, you would startup with your Leopard DVD again by holding c down during startup. Now, after selecting your language again, just click install. After the installer is finished, install your applications as above.

  • Difficulty scanning slides on my Epson V600  running Lion, Adobe Photoshop CS6,  and can no longer use the Epson scan application or the plug in for Photoshop. Should I revert back to leopard in my time machine to finish scanning my family slides?

I am running Lion 10.7.5, Adobe Photoshop CS6, scanning slides on my Epson V600 and can no longer use the scan application or the plug in for Photoshop. Should I revert back to leopard in my time machine to finish scanning my family slides?
In 10.7 there is not a twain that works with Photoshop for importing with all the options needed to scan transparencies. I noticed that when I was scanning in October 2012 I was still using CS6 so somehow I was managing to be able to use all the scan features.
They sell 2nd party software (VieScan and Silverscript)which I found to be just mimially OK and very hard to use.
I just want to scan like I used to.
Can I use time machine to go back to an earlier operating sysytem LEOPARD,  and then do my scans and then save the photos and them go back to the LION system?
I spent 7 hours trying crazy solutions - downloading Windows CS2 Photoshop and then using a program so I could run it on the apple. Then I couldn't figure out how to put a plug in for the scanner in the stupid windows Photoshop program. Googgling the computer like a mad woman trying to ask questions. I am not giving up...
    Please help if you can...
    Thanks...

I assume you've tried using Image Capture. Give VueScan a try.

  • IMac late 2009 i7 2t HDD, Grey screen problem on rebooting, tried all support recommendations inc re installation of Yosemite,  now about to wipe HDD backing up from time machine would like to go back to mavericks on this 2 days before help please

OSX Yosemite gray screen at startup, tried all Apple Support recommendations inc reinstall, now need to wipe HDD backing up from time machine, would like to backup 2days before Yosemite installation ie Mavericks help please

Do a backup, preferably 2 seperate ones.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert Yosemite to Mavericks
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

  • How do I revert back to Leopard from Snow Leopard?

I've been searching for days on a way to do revert back to Leopard from Snow Leopard (install Leopard over Snow Leopard).
I recently upgraded to SL and have had enough problems with applications that at this point I want to just revert to Leopard and wait a few months until I permanently upgrade.
I tried placing the Leopard install disk in and got as far as rebooting. Once it rebooted to begin installation it did this weird grey screen and force me to restart manually - it continued this in a loop until I removed the disk; which allowed me to boot back up in SL.
Is there a way to do this other than doing a full uninstall wiping all my data? If that is the only option, is there a easy way to transfer my data (Time Machine maybe or something else?)

I would transfer my data manually to a partition on an external firewire drive. Then, I would clone my SL installation to another partition of the drive. Next, I'd start up to my SL installation DVD and use Disk Utility to erase my internal. Afterward, I'd quit Disk Utility and quit the installer. Then, I use my Leopard install disk to reinstall Leopard. Since you are having app problems, I reinstall my apps using, among other things, the app disk that probably came with Leopard. Copy your data back, and you are good to go.

  • Reverting back to Leopard

Hello all, I have reached a stage where I really need to revert to an operating system that does what I need without crashing every 4 minutes.
I have used macs for many many years, this is not a case of 'lets diagnose' there are just to many issues and I have work to do.
The problem I have is I insert my leopard DVD that came with my mac and click restart as it instructs but it refuses to boot it just endlessly restarts/black screen/restart/black screen.
I have also tried starting up by holding down C and turning on but no go, I would appear to not be allowed to revert.
Is there anything else I can try? Worse case I could use another Harddrive, but that seems a tad excessive.

Hello all, I have reached a stage where I really need to revert to an operating system that does what I need without crashing every 4 minutes.
Just so long as you understand this is not normal. I understand you don't have time to troubleshoot further... though, for all you know, you've got some kind of problem that will still assert itself once you revert back to Leopard.
The problem I have is I insert my leopard DVD that came with my mac and click restart as it instructs but it refuses to boot
Well, that is a bit of a problem... there are really only a few possibilities here.
First, are you sure that you're using the right disk in the right computer? If your computer shipped with Leopard, you must use the gray disk that came with that computer. A retail Leopard disk may not work, and a gray disk from another computer definitely won't work.
Second, the disk itself may be damaged. Have you checked for scratches, cleaned it thoroughly, etc? Try putting it in a different machine (not booting from it) and see if it will appear on the desktop. For that matter, try it for the machine you want to revert. If it doesn't work, you'll need a replacement disk.
Third, you could have a hardware problem of some sort, such as a dirty or damaged optical drive. Do other DVDs work? Can you boot from the Snow Leopard disk?

Had to restore my computer and now have music on the iPad that I would like to transfer back to the computer. How do I do this? (Operating system is Windows Vista)

This depends, if the music was purchased on the iTunes store you can transfer purchases. If it was not then you would need a 3rd party program in order to rip these files to the computer.
