Purchases are tied to the AppleID you used to make them, so not tied at all the any particular device.
If you backup the iPod to your computer accounts' iTunes, then just restore her iPhone from your iPod backup. She can do the same thing for the iPod. You will have then switched their configurations over from one device to the other.

Are you sure? I restored my new iPod from the backup of my iPad and all app data was restored to the new iPod.. App data is part of the backup.

The recommended solution for most families is to share the same Apple ID for iTunes and App Store purchases, so you can share your purchases, but us different IDs for iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud. With this arrangement, each person can automatically download purchases made on the shared ID (by turning this feature on in Settings>iTunes & App Stores), while keeping their FaceTime calls, text messages and iCloud data (including photo stream) separated. Delete you mail account on the phone and disable to sync your mail account in the info pane in iTunes with your phone connected, same for contacts. Also deselect photo syncing in the photo pane. After the following sync, your mail, contact and photos should be gone.
Photos inside the camera roll have to be deleted on the phone.
Remember, that apps only can be used with the account they were bought with. If the phone will be set up with a different iTunes account, all of your apps will be removed.

You may have to call into Verizon Customer care if you have a smartphone to remove the data plan and help you move over. Other than that it's a simple swap between devices. Contract doesn't matter unless you negligent in payment(or the person who you bought the device from is).

Hello, I hope someone can help direct me on this.
A few months ago my old Apple G-4 went down. Since I only used it for I-Pod/I-Tunes, it's not worth fixing to me.
I love the I-Pod and all my 1,900 songs are stored on it. This is my second I-Pod and I orig. received the firt one when they initially came out.
I have new Dell Precision M654 laptop for work and would like to switch my I-Pod to this. BUT I'd like to import the songs from the I-Pod to the Dell. Since I've had I-Pods for so long, I don't have the CD's anymore.
I called my local LV Apple store, explained the situation and they said the directions were on Apple.com/support to do this. I can't seem to find them and I've been looking for hours.
Does anyone have any suggestion or can offer assistance/directions to do this? I'm really at a loss and don't want to lose all my songs.

If your iPod is Windows formatted, there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection.
