  • I would like to understand  if we can select a BOM by Vendor

    Hi all
    I have the following query:
In our subcontracting process we are often producing similar codes on two different vendor locations.
So would like to understand that if we can select a BOM by Vendor
u201CCan't select different BOMs in R/3 for different vendors producing same codeu201D?
    thanks and regards

    Hi all,
This would probably work but in my client we do not use production versions. This is not for the standard subcontracting process. This would mean that we would have to implement a completely new process involving Product costing as I am not sure if production versions created for subcontracting products would have any impact on them.
could you please tell me if there is no other option to get this to work without using production versions?
I have put a quick example to explain the problem in more detail...
For Finished product 9791070 I have created a BOM with two alternatives:
    1 & 2
Each alternative is using a different component...
When creating the Subcontracting PO the system automatically picks the component from alternative BOM 1
Please let me know if there is any other option within the PO creation process or within the PIR to use alternative BOMu2019s without the requirement to create production versions.
    thanks in advance

  • Would like to understand WHY changing the IP address seems to make a difference.

I have had significant difficulty getting my WRT54G v5 to pass to the internet multiple pcs connected by cable and/or wireless.  Default settings seemed to work fine to log into the LAN, but only 1 connection would go to the internet.  I called Linksys tech support and they successfully got me over at least the initial hurdle so that my 2 main pcs can now function, and a 3rd seems to also get through.  I've seen in this forum a BUNCH of similar posts, including some which say that success only lasts for brief periods of time.
What changed to get mine to work???.......192.168.1.1 was changed to 192.168.2.1.  What I'd like to understand is.......why does that make a difference?
I am not a networking technical guru by any means, but am I a novice to technical discussion.  Simply changing the address to go from not working to working does not make sense to me, and I'd like it to make sense so I can support this thing without spending hours every weekend.
    Linksys, can you please explain?

The address pool of the DHCP server are just the IP addresses which the DHCP server uses to assign them to devices which ask for an IP address via DHCP (e.g. computers which are set to obtain their IP address automatically). The DHCP server automatically supplies those devices with an IP address and assigns the correct subnet mask, gateway address, and dns servers.
This has nothing to do which IP address actually have internet access or not. After the device got its IP configuration from the DHCP server this configuration works just like any other configuration you may statically configure on some other devices.
The router connects all IP addresses inside your LAN to the internet as long as the devices use the router IP address as default gateway.
If you router has an LAN IP address 192.168.1.1 and a subnet mask 255.255.255.0 these two numbers together define that all addresses 192.168.1.* are part of the LAN. 192.168.1.0 is a special purpose address. 192.168.1.255 is the broadcast address of this LAN. Everything from 192.168.1.1-254 are normal IP addresses inside your LAN (with .1 obviously allocated by your router). Operating as gateway between the LAN and the internet the router accepts traffic from any of the LAN addresses and forwards it into the internet and receives the responses and sends them back into your LAN.
For the routing/gateway part of the router it is irrelevant where the device got its IP address from. This part does not know about the DHCP server. All that matters here is that the IP address is valid and inside the LAN subnet. If the device has a static IP address or DHCP assigned IP address does not matter.
It does not matter which IP address range the DHCP server assigns. Linksys uses 100-149 as default. Some other routers assign 2-100. Some others assign 2-254. Assign whatever you like. Orderly people split their subnet into various parts, e.g. assigning 10-19 to NAS devices with static IP, 20-29 for printers with static IP, 30-39 for VOIP phones with static IP, 50-99 for DHCP, 240-249 for other networking gear. Or in any other way.
The only important thing is not to assign a static IP address inside the DHCP server address pool. The DHCP server checks whether an IP address is used before it assigns it. If, however, the device with the static IP address inside the DHCP address pool is temporarily down, the DHCP server does not know that the IP address is used otherwise and thus may assign this address to another device. Now, once the device with the static IP address comes up again you have an IP address conflict. Therefore, never assign a static IP address inside the DHCP server address pool.

  • A few processes I would like to understand

Please can you explain to me each of the following processes as I want to understand where these processes
start and finish (general flow) and any important details to understand these processes as good as
    possible.
    ASN
    Container Scheduling
    Customs
    Delivery tracking
    Demands
    MRP

    hi
this is to inform you that,
ASN - this is nothing but its an ADVANCE SHIPMENT NOTIFICATION - will get printed before delivery & picking of goods.
Container Scheduling - this comes in TRANSPORTATION MODULE - like SCHEDULING a container for the delivery of goods.
Customs - this comes under FOREIGN TRADE AND CUSTOMS - like when ever goods are moving from our country using the PORTS or DRY PORTS or AIR WAYS - we have to show some documents related to the goods.
Delivery tracking - this comes in R/3 while goods has left the manufacturing plant it will be tracked until it reaches the destination point.
Demands - this comes in PP module in DEMAND MANAGEMENT - whether the requriment is passed to PP via TOR or not.
MRP - this also comes in PP in the name of MATERIAL REQURIMENT PLANNING, this is used to calcualte how much ROH, SEMI are requried for planning the requriment before the date of delivery.
    hope this clears your issue

  • I would like to understand how merging cells works

I am trying to reduce nine fields, into three, but can't understand how merging cells works. Because sometimes it will allow me to merge cells, and at other times the word merge is greyed out
    Regards Lee

The User Guide, which you can download using the link in the Help menu, explains merging cells pretty clearly.
I suspect the relevant line to your problem is:
"The group of cells you choose must form a rectangle, and they must be all body cells, all header cells, or all footer cells."
The merge option is probably greyed out because your selection includes both header and body cells.
I think there is a general feeling among users that merging cells should be avoided because it breaks some operations like sorting tables.

  • Compilations - Would like to understand this

I'm using the latest and greatest version of iTunes on my Mac running OS 10.4.8
If I view my music library in List mode and then also turn on the Browser View aspect, you get a window at the top where the music is listed in three sections: Genre, Artist, Album.
Now here's my annoyance. Let's say I imported a "Greatest Hits" collection into my iTunes library. In my opinion, a greatest hits album is considered a compilation, since the songs have been compiled over the years and grouped together onto one album. So, in the information area I click on the "Part of a Compilation" box.
But, what this does in the Browser window is that the program now lists "Compilations" under the "Artist" column.
So, if you have more than one album titled "Greatest Hits", all the songs from different groups get mixed together in the browser window.
And, also, now in the info window, you can list "Artist" and now "Album Artist". What's that all about?
Couldn't find anything in the iTunes Help.
PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   My first Mac was a IIcx. Those were the days!

When viewing compilations, sort by by Album or Album Artist.
you can list "Artist" and now "Album Artist". What's that all about?
Artist is for a specific song.
Album Artist is whose album it is.
Supernatuarl by Santan has like 8 different artists on the songs but the Album Artist is Santana.

  • I would like to review and manage my Aperture library from my iPad

I ride the train to and from work every morning. It would be very convenient if I could use my iPad to organize some of my digital life while on the trip. For example, I have thousands of blurry vacation photos I just can't seem to find the time to organize while I'm home, and it would be great to do this while traveling.
Are there any apps out there that tap into a digital library such as Aperture's and offer the ability to review/rate/delete items only to sync them back with the PC later?
I could ask the same question for iTunes and music - anything out there to change tags with a song and have it sync back later?

    http://www.pixelsyncapp.com/
PixelSync is the tool you're looking for
Also the developer is very responsive in terms of working out the bugs and taking suggestions
    Can't recommend it enough

  • SAP newbie - would like to understand integration options

What are the choices when it comes to integrating SAP (MySAP, ECC5, Oracle Db) with another external ERP platform (Windows based with MS SQL Db).  We wish to create approx 8 interfaces (Sales, Accounts, Stock etc) between a retail ERP and SAP.  I understand that PI could be a choice but this seems expensive and we don't currently have it set up. Any help to understand interface options much appreciated.

  • We have 4000 transports...would like to know the best methods of transports

We have 4000 transports...would like to know the best methods of transports.I understand mass transports and consolidation of transports through transport organiser can be of help ..However would like to understand more on the following points
1)In both the cases, how dependencies between transports will be managed.
    2)How Sequencing will be managed?
3)Which is recommended and under what circumstances?
    4)Pros and cons of each?
    Thanks
    Shamna

Have those transports already be transported (e.g. from Dev to Test?) - if so the transports from Test to Prod must be in the exact same sequence you transported them into Test because only then the coding status will be exactly the same.
If there was no transport yet then you usually transport in the sequence of the transport numbers - however if they have not yet been transported you don't know, if there are dependencies between different transports unless you kept a kind of log.
In that case the savest way to transport everything is to combine all objects of all transports into one transport and then let that one run into Test and Prod. That way you would not have to worry about sequence problems where a newer version is overwritten by an older version.
However the big transport only works if all the objects in those 4000 transports are not locked in any open request. You can create that transport by using SE03 and choosing 'Merge Object Lists' - just paste all the transports into the selection field and execute. You don't have to do all 4000 at once but do it in packages.
    Hope that helps,
    Michael

  • Want to Start Backing-Up and Would Like a Wireless Connection

I will try to explain my question as simple as I can, but my tech knowledge is not the best, so please bare with me. As I said in the heading I would like to start backing up my MBP (something I never have done) and I would like to use a 3.5-4 year-old Airport Extreme I have had for 4 years but never really used it much. I have a new MBP so I would like to understand what some of the basic terms mean first.
In the dock I have an icon called Time Machine. I saw a device that looked like my Airport Extreme at the Apple Store, but I think the guy said it was called an Apple Capsule. He also said the Apple Capsule can do great back-ups and also "get you up and running on a wireless internet connection." Although I did not check out the costs of all the stuff I would need, I wanted to get an experts guidance on what is what and what I would need to use the program I already have called Time Machine. The Airport Extreme I have is square has several ethernet port ports in the back a WAN port and a light in the front that can turn various colors depending on the status of the Wireless connection.
I am not sure if the Airport Extreme I have is still OK to use, safe enough, all of that stuff since technology changes so much in a short amount of time. So I was also looking at the LaCie Rugged Hard Disk Triple also 500 GB capacity option and if my 3.5 or 4 year-old Airport Extreme will work just fine use that and the LaCie.
I am alos trying to understand the difference between the icon on my dock called Time Machine, the Time Capsule, and what I would need counting what my MBP came with (The Time Machine for sure).
I think I got all the basic questions out for starters, and please let me know if you need any additional info if you need any additional info.
I should add when I first connected up the Airport Extreme when I finally got the nerve to call Applecare for help hooking up the Airport Extreme approx 3.5-4 years ago. the lady who was in Canada was very good but the process seemed quite complicated and that could have been because that was the first real complicated set-up I had done using my new MBP at that time. It seemed a lot of the complications came with all the passwords, security questions I had to remember, long numbers, etc. But since I knew nothing about Macs at that time it probably had a lot do do with that.
I am open for constructive criticisms and help but if you have a need to knock someone down please go elsewhere. I tried my hardest to explain what I need help with and when I decided to come to my favorite place for help, I came hoping I would not get a bunch of put-downs like has happened in the past.
thanks in advance for your help.

I appreciate your help. I understand now that Time Machine is software. What I do not understand is it software to be used with Time Capsule? Another device?
Apple intends Time Machine to be used to write its backup files to (a) a directly-connected (as via USB or FireWire) external or secondary internal disk or (b) the disk in a Time Capsule. All other configurations are officially unsupported.
I have not purchased the LaCie device yet. it seemed cool.
As a Time Machine target drive I imagine that the LaCie drive is fine for a directly-connected drive (option "a" above), but is not recommended for use when connected to a WiFi base station.
at the time I wrote this post, I had no idea that the Time Capsule was an Airport Extreme too
Apple doesn't call it that, but except for the disk drive it's functionally equivalent.
I appreciate your feedback on how to avoid some of the smart *** and mean comments I frequently get. I do not agree with most of what you wrote because although I post a post or Question(s), but I do not ask any specific person to answer or help me.
True, but that's not my point. When you post a question on a forum such as this, you do so with the hope that someone will reply with useful advice. To do that someone has to read your post to determine what advice to give you. So anyone who has any thought of helping you has to first read your post, which involves a certain commitment of time.
Frequently I do not get any answers or replies. it is their decision to try and help me or not. If they do not like the way the question(s) is worded or expressed in writing, they do not have to even attempt to answer it. That is what I never understood. The negative criticism would come with their first reply, but I did not even ask any specific person to help me.
It's hard to comment without seeing your post and the reply, but perhaps those people were just trying to help you (clumsily, perhaps) learn how to write better-behaved posts.
I do agree with putting too much info. in a post. I do try to keep it clear and concise, but that is very hard for me. So I appreciate your comment about that, because I do think I do have a tendency to write too much at times. I think it is great that there are people who like or want to do this, for whatever reason.

  • Would like to upgrade to Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 from DNS 6 (which would also entail a necessary upgrade from Windows 2000 to 7) but understand after all this expense and trouble, DNS upgrade may not be compatible with Firefox 6?

    Question
Would like to upgrade to Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 from DNS 6 (which would also entail a necessary upgrade from Windows 2000 to 7) but understand after all this expense and trouble, DNS upgrade may not be compatible with Firefox 6?
Main priority is voice activation upgrade. Ideas about how to proceed appreciated!

AFAIK, it's been over three years since a WinXP laptop or desktop PC has been sold; I specifically bought a laptop in June 2008 because it was being clearanced by that retail chain to meet Microsoft's deadline, and got it real cheap. It was tagged for the store manager to purchase, but he let me have it because I exceeded his expectations for the services I performed for his store and thought I deserved it. Anything that wasn't made for Vista-compatibility will be very iffy with Win7, IMO - so that basically rules out anything that was made before like Oct or Nov 2007.
Unless another DNS 11 user happens to see this thread and can verify whether it works in Firefox 6.0 or not, I don't what to recommend except for you doing a web search to see what other DNS / Firefox users have to say about compatibility.

No, iCloud does not handle 3rd party mail, and Google can already sync to all your devices without any help.
iCloud accounts are individual, there is no 'Family' account. Open an account for each user, each will have an iCloud address.

  • I would like to find a file manager/ image browser like ACDSee 32

Coming from the Windows environment (it is where I make my living) I have found the Mac environment to be significantly different and pose a considerable learning curve especially when it comes to file management. I like to be able to view and manage files from within the same application but have yet to find something that will allow me the freedom I am used to. Ideally I am looking for something like ACDSee 32 (the last good version) which acts like a typical file manager but has a full sized preview pane as well. This allows you to preview a picture then drag and drop it into a folder of your choosing. The software also allows you to do some minor edits and create folders as well.
Preview on my MacBook is a still born idea, iPhoto want to take all of my photos and store them in a proprietary environment (not happening) and Xie is a very nice file viewer but does nothing else. Any useful suggestions of a software that will do what I would like it to do would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
