I would like to upgrade IPAD2 ios 4.3.3 to 5.01

I have an IPad 2 Model MC769LL and I would like to now upgrade it to 5.01 from 4.3.3. I have downloaded iPad2,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw which I believe is not corrupt. I would like to use it to upgrade my iPad but my ITunes 10.7.0.21 what’s to put 6.0.1 and I don't feel comfortable enough to do that just yet. How might I accomplish this?

If you got the file directly from Apple's servers, you can try to install it by option-clicking the Update button (Shift-click in Windows) in iTunes and choosing the downloaded file. If you did not get the file directly from Apple - their server's domain name is "appldnld.apple.com", I would strongly recommend you not even attempt to install that file. There's no knowing what malware it might contain.
You are of course on your own if you update by any means other than Apple's approved methods and something goes wrong.
Regards.

YouTube and Google Maps licences have expired.
They're not 1st party apps anymore.
Apple has replaced Google Maps with their own. (Some like it, some don't)

  • HT4623 I have an iPad 3.2 and would like to upgrade the IOS to 5 or 6. I'm having difficulty doing so, including using a cable between my laptop and my iPad. What should I do?

I have an iPad 3 and have attempted, without success, to upgrade to iOS to 5 or 6. I've tried it wirelessly, without success, and cabled it to my laptop, also without success.  What am I doing wrong?

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device. It will be updated to the newest iOS release supported by the device’s hardware
The maximum iOS version for the iPhone 3G and second generation iPod touch is 4.2.1.
The maximum iOS version for the third generation iPod touch and original iPad is 5.1.1.
The maximum iOS version for the fourth generation iPod touch is 6.1.5.

  • I would like to downgrade the ios

Before a couple of weeks I have upgraded my ipad 2 to ios 6.1.3 , and I am not pleased with the performance and I would like to downgrade to ios 6.1 , but when I restore the ipad, an error pops up "ipad could not be restored . an unknown error occured (3194)"
I have asked some expert, and it appears to be something to do with "shsh blobs"....????
Why apple is complicated! If some would like to downgrade, he should have the ability to do it easily, insted of jumping from discussion blog to another! trying to find an answer for simple problems!!!

i've heard you can put your ipod into DFU mode by holding the power button for 3 seconds then keep holding the power button but press the home button and hold it for another 10 seconds then let go of power button and hold the home button for 15 seconds. itunes will pop up saying it has discoverd an ipad 2 on recovery mode and must be restored right click restore and pick your ios version that you need to download ( i will put link) and then hit restore and it should work.

  • I just purchased a IMac Power PC G4 which has the Tiger 10.4.11 OS. I would like to upgrade to Lion OS. How can I upgrade the OS?

I just purchased a Power Mac PC G4. The system has OS Tiger 10.4.11. I would like to upgrade it to Lion.
    How can I do It?
    Thank You
    Hubert

PPC (PowerPC) is the processor architecture of all G3, G4 and G5 Power Mac computers.
PPC Macs cannot run any OS greater than Leopard, 10.5.8 because after that, Apple quit developing for PPC processors and limited support for the Intel processor line only.
As for upgrade to Leopard, Yes, if your machine meets the minimum requirements of 867 MHz or faster processor, 512 MB or greater of RAM and has a DVD reader it can have Leopard installed.
To install Leopard, one must first purchase a RETAIL (black with X on it) disc.
After install of 10.5, 10.5.1,10.5.4 or 10.5.6 retail version, free updates to 10.5.8 are available from Apple.
    Check eBay for discs:
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=mac+os+x+leopard+retail+10.5
If your machine is slower than 867 MHz, Google "Unsupported Leopard Installation".
Tiger is lthe best choice for slower PPC Macs.

Since your Mac probably came with 10.4, there is no longer a way to get 10.5 Leopard install media. IF it has the requirements, you may be able to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard by buying the boxed install media at the Apple Store for $30.

    From what I read here:
    http://www.tuaw.com/2011/06/06/lion-...u-2-gb-of-ram/
s long as they already have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed in it.All a person needs to do with that type of iMac is to upgrade/max out their Ram. They claim that an Interl iMac with Core 2 Duo is all that is needed, as long as it has OS 10.6.8 installed. They say you don`t need  the "Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor"
But I wonder about the RAM speed, the iMac 2.33Ghz uses DDR2 SDRAM,  which I believe is rated at 667Mhz. Lion maybe installed but it might be problems running smoothly or not?
Did some quick checking and the iMacs apple is selling this year use 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM.
The only thing to do is to make sure you have a good back-up, Install your RAM and install Snow Leo, then wait a couple of hours and install Lion.
    Good Luck

    Hi, you need 10.6.8 first...
First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

  • I would like to upgrade my Imac 8,1 from 1 Gb to 4Gb RAM. Apple does not have memory for this Imac but recommended Crucial, Kingston or Ramjet. I have noticed a difference in pricing and would like to know if there are differences in their chips?

I would like to upgrade my Imac 8,1 (20 inch early 2008) from 1Gb RAM to 4 Gb. Apple no longer provides 800Mhz2DDR2 SDRAM but recommended Crucial, Kingston or RAMjet.
Are there any difference in these vendors chips as the price range is from $51-$99?
    Thanks, Johng

I'm coming late to this string because I now have the same issue as gillnfly and you have all solved virtually all of my questions - thanks!  My only other question to add to what you've already said is - I currently have 1 G of memory installed.  Can I ADD a 2G card to get to 3G (probably more than I need), or should cards match if you have more than 1 - i.e., 2 1G cards or replace existing 1G with a 2G, or even 2 2G cards (way more than I need).
Thanks for your spot-on comments!  I already found the OWC website and you've confirmed that's the best place to go.

  • I would like to upgrade my itunes but have a macbook 10.8.5. How can I do this?

I would like to upgrade my itunes but have a macbook 10.8.5. How can I do this?

Do you have 10.8.5 or 10.5.8?  It's listed as the latter on your equipment setting, but you stated that you have 10.8.5?  If you have 10.8.5 you have the most recent version and you should be able to update iTunes by checking for updates.  However, if you have 10.5.8 you need to first update to 10.6 so that you can download the new version of iTunes.  To upgrade to 10.6 (Snow Leopard) you need to get a hold of Apple so that they can send you the install DVD which will allow you to update your computer, after that, you can then download updates and get access to the App Store right from your desktop where you can then download Lion or Mountain Lion should you choose to move on further.
