I7 3770K vs i7 3820 - Video Card suggestion?

My use : 90% Photoshop / LightRoom , 5% Premiere , 5% other, do NOT game at all.
Hi Guys,
My Budget for CPU is around $300-350 , what do you guys recommend? 2011 socket or 1155 that can be over clocked?
I have another problem with Graphic card, I want to have 2 monitors and a TV (3 total) now from what i understand Nvidia cards only support 2 out and ATI cards dont play nice with Premiere, considering my budget on Video card is around 250$ , do you guys suggest, i go with Nvidia and 1 monitor + TV, ATI and since i dont use Premiere  TOO MUCH its ok? or any other option i am missing? for nVidia i was thinking GTX 570, good choice?  ATI i got no idea ! any recommendation is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your help.

I'm going with the 2011 socket for my own build, but I've noticed that the costs involved with that platform are higher overall, as it is considered a higher "bracket." Be warned that Ivy Bridge processers (which all go on LGA 1155) such as the 3770k you are considering don't overclock nearly as well as Sandy Bridge does/did. Despite this, I hear that the 3770k is still a nice CPU, and will likely give you quality performance even without overclocking. The 3830 is currently the only 2011 socket processor in your price range; the next step up leaps both in performance and cost - the $500+ range.
5xx (Fermi) series cards can only run 2 monitors, correct. However, the 6xx series Kepler architecture cards can simultanously run up to 4 displays (3 if in 3D).
With a $250 budget, I would recommend looking at the GTX 660. Performance wise, it will sit a little lower than the GTX 570, but it has the advantages I mentioned above. Otherwise, if you are willing to stretch the wallet a little bit, the GTX 660 Ti is a fantastic performer for $275-300 and is arguably better than the 570, plus improvements in power consumption and heat dissipation.. (Note that the cards I linked to are not recommendations for a specific card per se, I just grabbed the currently top rated card from each model at Newegg).
Hope that helps,
Kristofor

  • AE video card suggestion

Okay, so I've seen the list on Adobe's site giving 'supported' video cards.
But I'm looking for performance upgrade:
    -Windows XP SP2
    -Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4ghz
    -4gb DDR2 800 RAM
-2 TB 7200RPM HDDs (no raid)
    -Cineform software codec for HDV
    and...
-GeForce 7900GTX 512mb SLI video card.
I want my after effects to scream, right now, it's too slow for my tastes. At work, the macs seem to blaze through it. What can I do to really gain speed?
    Thanks

Indeed, I nearly peed myself when I first ran AE under the
multiprocessor settings on a Mac Pro. I could actually see the particles
move during a preview!!! My renders used a clock instead of a calendar!

  • Video card suggestions for Mac Pro early 2007 (Rev a)

    Hello,
I have a Mac Pro Dual Quad Core. I bought it in March of 2007 so it is a certain type of Mac Pro. I think they call it Rev A.
I want to put in a more up to date video card that is really nice and works with 3d and after effects.
What are my choices for video cards? Am I limited to certain cards because of the year I bought my Mac Pro? I don't have the money to go up to the really nice $1000 dollar cards but I'd like a real nice ATI card. I think I'm done with Nvidia. They keep burning up.
    Thanks!
    spiral

    Hey Stephan,
One more question and this will be solved. I'll rep you again of course . I know that nVidia cards cannot do SLI in OS X. I have two and was super disappointed when I bought my first mac (this one) to learn that this option is not available.
Are ATI cards any different? They have the Crossfire capability and since they seem more supportive of Apple products, I was wondering if they also can support the Crossfire capability.
    Thanks,

  • Video Card Suggestions

First of all, to the folks who respond to our many mundane, redundant and/or silly questions, thanks, and how on earth did you learn all this stuff??
I was sold on Aperture when I purchased my new MacPro. As I don't play video games, the rep (same guy who sold me on Aperture) told me I didn't need any upgrades to the basic graphics card, the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT. I've read here that Aperture is a heavy load on graphics, so should I have upgraded? If so, what can I add to speed up performance now that I own the box?
I have 2G of memory, I know more will make everything faster, but what is the best bang for my limited buck--better graphics, save up for more ram?????
Thanks as always for your suggestions!
    Steve

yes, you should have upgraded to the ati x1900xt ... it is, from what i hear, a fantastic vid card for aperture ... i think that you can get it for your computer ... search around the internet for it ... this will be the biggest bang for your buck, imho ...
    then start adding RAM ...

  • New video card for HP Pavillion Elite HPE-170t

Hi, I'm starting to get some screen artifacts sporadically, Ithink my video card is starting to go bad. i want to get a new one, but I am not sure what will fit. My computer  HP Pavillion Elite HPE-170t:
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-860 quad-core processor [2.8GHz, 1MB L2 + 8MB shared L3 cache]
    8GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM
    1TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive
1GB ATI Radeon HD 4850 [2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters]
    Lightscribe SuperMulti DVD burner
15-in-1 memory card reader, 1 USB, 1394, audio
    No TV Tuner
    Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium
I see by some other questions here several video cards suggested, but those replies were a few years old and those video cards are no longer available.
So, any suggestions on newer video cards under $200 that will pretty much fit and work as easily as possible? Thanks!
    This question was solved.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I don't have another monitor to try, but the artifacts seem to sometimes move along with the mouse cursor. Sometimes I can scrill the artifacts away, other times the screen freezes.
I do have room for a double width card,  but I was looking at the XFX R7 250E 800MHz 1GB DDR5 DP HDMI DVI Graphics Card, which seems to be a newer model of the XFX AMD Radeon HD 7750 1GB GDDR5 . Both are single wide and don't need an extra power connection.

  • G5 Video card upgrade to use PSCS4?

I have a G5 a Dual 2.0 GHz PowerPC with four RAM slots, and a ATI Radeon 9600 card. I just upgraded to PSCS4 Standard, and want to take advantage of the OpenGL technology. I'm having trouble finding the PPC nVidia 7800 256MB tested by Adobe. Is there any other video cards suggestions or a source to find the PPC nVidia 7800 256MB?
    Thanks...

    I'm using a 2003 G5 with a Radeon 9650 and have no problems using the optional AllowOldGPUS.plugin.
Your mileage may vary but it might tide you over until you can upgrade.

  • MB 915/G Combo MS-7058 video card options or suggestions on the new market

First off my apologies. I wasn't sure which forum to place my question under,
    Retired Motherboards or Video Cards.
Quick summary I'm looking to upgrade my video card on an older mother board and have run into problems with a new board working. I think the problem is a backwards compatibility issue.  I need help  with a list of what video cards I can buy that are available new preferably if not a list of where to go and what to watch for. I would like to increase the speed/ram. My skill level is around, open the case swap out the item and insert the disk. With a search forums and try to find the answer/follow directions or suggestions.
    In more detail,
I'm looking to upgrade my video card from NVIDIA GeForce 6 Series  NX-6600  256mb card on a an MSI 915P/G combo. The install/instruction manual lists under the above combo name MS-7058 (v1.X) ATX Motherboard and  below the image of the board there is also the text of G52-M7058x1.
The video card option for placement is in the sole PCI Express X16 slot (no on motherboard graphics and/or connection options I know of)   and I assuming from what I've tried researching that the PCI Express x1(mentioned elsewhere but all suggestions were cards no longer for sale) is some sort of standard of limit and my motherboard is too old despite newer cards fitting into the slot and claiming backwards compatibility to the "PCI Express or Pci Express 2.0".
Part of that possible assumption of my issue comes from the fact the mother board can have ether DDR1 or DDR2 ram for memory  but a video card with DDR3 ram would not work. Also the software from the included disk and from the from the website install correctly for the card to function other than the basic windows drivers leaving the card unable to run any games.   For reference the video card purchased and tried was a  EVGA Geforce GT 610 SC9super clocked) with 2 GB of DDR3 Memory. Which i hopefully will have returned for a refund soon.  I spent most of the day trying to install the software by their program , by launching from disk directly, from downloading the most current version from the manufacturer's website and checking with Microsoft for possible system change updates.
My original invoice August 2005 lists the  pre order lists the Item VGMS-NX6600/256E   then under description MSI NX6600-TD256E/PCIEX/256MB for the grand price of $169.00  deleviery receipt lists the card as item VGXM-X66DHEJTZ1   Description XMEDIA 6600 256MB PCIE DVI/TV
Power Supply 630 watts installed July 2008 I can not get the full listings of voltage and amps per connectors without taking the powers supply loose from the case(which requires shutting the system off, so I hoping I won't need to but will if the information will help). I do not feel power is an issue due to the size and the power supply was unneeded upgrade,  that I just wanted to replace when swapping out a motherboards damaged from a lighting hit or power surge. System was running fine for years.
    General system information
Windows XP professional SP3 All updates current.
    Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz
2.00 GB of Ram DDR 1
    Videocard  NVIDA 6600   Driver 6.14.12.9573
3 hard drives of varying sizes 500GB,1TB and 2TB  Plus one external  with external power supply 1.5TB drive
If more information is needed please let me know.
The best advice and help would be a list of currently for sale video cards that will work with links to places (and the actual model even better) like New Egg,  or if there is such a card at the local Best Buy(outstanding advice on this non compatible/working card....I won't digress into my own mistake of buying there). I'm way out of date on information and standards about computers and hardware and need help  figuring out what Video Cards to look at for purchasing.   Preferably new, then re manufactured with warranty then used...  The main game I play that strains my system but is playable is call of duty modern warfare 2 and would like to run 3 if possible. Although better rates with COD MW2 and COD 4 MW.

100% correct on the mother board
The card I had tried was EVGA---GeForce-GT-610 2GB DDR3 I can't post external links but it was from Best Buy. The  box claimed requirements are that it needs PCI Express or PCI Express 2.0 compliant motherboards with one open graphic slot.  The best I could get out of it was slightly working with Windows XP basic driver which no games would run. No selecting drivers helped from the Add Hardware program.
So I should make sure it lists "PCI Express X16" and  " version 1 " "1MB(in reference to what part?)" or words to that effect?  I was mislead by the box above for capability and "NVIDIA" on it, am I correct in assuming it was a generic whore knock off which bought the rights to stick NVIDIA name on the outside for a standard or software?  Especially since the actual video card says EVGA and not NVIDIA on it....  I won't make that mistake hopefully again.
Due to age I was buying a cheap fill in card,(old one was working fine but I figured a good training/practice exercise and to see how much better the games looked  to encourage me going forward on my first build) until I can start ordering and building to  the current upgradeable standards.   I'm trying to catch up on standards and not  have a firewire or zipdrive experience. Although I might put a 5 1/4 disk drive in unused bay for show    I would prefer not to buy another per-assembled option and decent computer part stores near me are lacking. Or I lack knowledge of their locations. If it matters I'm in Charlotte, NC USA
My budget is up to about $200 although I would like to stay around $100.00 (usa dollars) if possible. I think that gives me realistic options even with places like Best Buy. If I'm not, please correct me. I'm aware best Buy will give me a special 30-50% price increase  but my local options for shops are hurting, the "best place for reputation" is a story of shame.

When I try to update my iMovie to be Maverick compatible, this is what I get " Your computer’s video card does not meet the minimum system requirements."  Any suggestions?  Thanks

I have a Mac Pro earley 2008 with 16gb ram and the original ATI Radeon 2600 XT 256mb ram card.
After searching everywhere and finding no helpful info I just went to amazon and serched video cards for Mac Pro. The Asus HD 6450 silent and others came up. They all show PC compatibatily but since Mac is now PC structure I think allmost any card will work that is PCI-e.
I purchased the Asus HD 6450  for $39.00 with $10 rebate and it worked great, ( plug and play ).
My startup is way faster than before and graphics are way better.
The DVI works great with my Viewsonic and if you need to connect more than one monitor the DVI and VGA are secondary. If your main monitor is HDMI than you will have no problems using more than 2 screens in sharing mode.

  • I need a new video card any suggestions?

Okay people I am in the market for a new video card and I need to choose between ATI and Nvidia. I plan to get either something in the X800 series or in the 6800 series. My budget is $400.

I cant complain with mine. I got it on sale for 245$ @ Compusa.  Its quiet, never goes above 63C(? I havent seen it that high anyhow).  However there is that problem with the vpu( full cpu usage or something when watching some media formats???). I would go X800 if you want to spend it all, or 6600gt AGP and something else like an mP3 player.

  • New Member / Video Card Choice Question

New CS4 Production Premium User Here.
I am building a computer system specifically for Video Editing and production for use with Premier CS4 & Sony Vegas.. Have been doing my usual amount of Over Research here and other places but have a series of issues I am having a little trouble coming to grips with.
I have been into computer editing game for a long time but strictly in the Audio Recording /Mixing area /..
Video is a new interest which has me hooked / Im also a Gear Junkie so I have to watch it. 
I will probably be back with a couple more topics but to keep this thread simple /
My first post question is the topic of Video cards: Adobes Hardware compatibility list seems a little out dated. ?
The system does not have to be an ultimate gaming rig as I am not into that / just SD & HD Video editing & 3d effects.. I need a card which will do what is needed / works well with Premier CS4 / Is not too loud fan wise / can run 24/5 and not overheat.
    I also will need the ability to monitor on a HD TV with a good sound monitoring system / Midas / Bryston / Dynaudio etc;
I was considering either of the following / from lowest price to highest.
    ASUS GeForce 9600GT Silent 650MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out
    ASUS GeForce 9800GT Matrix 612MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out
    ASUS GeForce 9800GTX+ Dk 740MHZ 512MB 2.3GHZ DDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out
    Questions:
    Is a 512mb card sufficient?
Will all of the above do what is needed for my purpose?
What about noise of heat issues.
My system could be running close to 24/5 at times.
Have not made a final decision on all components but will probably basically start of like this.
    Vista 64 Bit/OS
    Core I7 940
Asus Rampage 2 Extreme or a plain P6T
Antec 1200 Case / For now I will leave out the hard drives and other things on my list.
My builder suggests to stick with ASUS Video Cards because he has the fastest warranty replacement service on his end for ASUS products / plus I am a total ASUS Motherboard guy with years satisfied experiences.. (in Audio setups).
Any feedback or comments on the above will be appreciated.
    Thanks / Orion

    Thanks Members for the Feedback:
I am trying to stick just to the Video Card Issues so the topic does not get all over the map / Raid issues have already been researched & I might have a question about that later in another thread.
Witha the video card issue I am just trying to see if I can get a reply which the majority of users agree upon / not an easy task & that is were my confused state of topic started.
    b Keith
It seems what you have said about QUADRO cards is the most agreed upon overall from my last three months of research at various locations / The cost is extreme for these cards & I was just trying to determime if I realy needed to go that far : >$2,000.00 and up.
    just for the Graphics card..
Perhaps I should start of with one of the cards I first mentioned which are dirt cheep compared to the Quadro series and replace it when I have arrived at the point where my shills are beyond my hardware limitations.
    b Charles & Jim.
Thanks for the reference to the . >ASUS GeForce 9800GTX+ Dk 740MHZ 512MB 2.3GHZ DDR3< I was thinking this might be the best to start with / except for the reported could be problems of / Noise / card size and Heat issues if running 24/5?
Other issues you have stated also seem to be agreed upon from mny sources as well / which is why I am considering perhaps not going Raid "o" from the start / perhaps Raid 5.. / or No Raid until I see If realy need it for my own personal use level.
b conclusion to this point in the game:
Looks like If I do a top notch system following all the higher end recomendations it will cost me over $10,000.00 (if I include a capture card / raid card (Areca 1220 or 1240(don't want to get into that topic just yet)& all the extras... This is about double the investment I had planned as this is basically a serious hobby not a business venture. Plus we have not included another $6,000.00 for a half decent peosumer HD camera with a few extras. I was trying to keep the entire setup to 8 to 10 grand total.. Not including the software / so this looks like wishfull thinking at best / Ho Ho.
b remember / unfortunately my pricing reflects Canadian $$ which includes a 25% hike in pricing because our government wants the loonie (Good Name) low valued so businesses can export our products at built in 25% Sale Pricing.
Perhaps,we wont get into that topic/please, but I just couldn't resist / when I start thinking about government issues (anywhere in this world) I tend to go off the deep end as part of why I am going into this video thing is to document the destruction of our environment & the entire democratic process, which is a total farce in my neck of the woods. Nuff Said..
Again Thanks for the input and I will keep watching and perhaps cover another topic later / my goal is to place an order for a build within the next 10 days of so.

  • MSI NEW P.E. Series Video Card - GTX670 Power Edition 2GD5/OC with Twin Frozr 4

Glad to be back in the forum and I was been busy for awhile. By this time lots of PC hardware already came out especially from Nvidia. Just like today my share would be MSI's N670GTX PE 2GD5/OC video card.
First of all lets talk about the GTX670 GPU chip. This GPU is the younger sibling of GTX680 which uses the same 28nm GK104 chip but with one disabled shader cluster/core.The reference or standard GPU clock is 915Mhz with a turbo boost of 980 and as for the memory is concerned, it has a 256bit memory bus connected to a 2GB GDDR5 memory with speed of 6008Mhz. Just like with any Kepler based architecture, the card would also have all the goodies like "Adaptive V-Sync", "AA TXAA (Temporal Super Sampling)", supports "DX11.1" and improved 3D Vision Surround.
Moving on, let's check out now what MSI did with their GTX670 SKU based video card. The card is under a new Series named "Power Edition" (series comparison table below) and it comes factory overclocked from GPU clock of 915MHz to 1020MHz and Turbo boost of 980Mhz to 1080Mhz. It also comes with the 4th version of Twin Frozr Thermal Cooling design with a theme color of Black and Blue which matches the color of MSI's midrange to high-end motherboards as well. The dual 8cm PWM fan based cooler are equipped with Propeller Fan Blades which draws air better and now has the so called "Dust Removal Technology", basically as you startup your PC the fan will rotate counter clockwise for 30 seconds clearing the dust from the cooling heatsink. Adding a finishing touch, MSI equipped the video card with their Military Class III components ensuring the best performance, efficiency, higher overclocks and durability.
Additional Box Shots of the N670GTX PE OC
    MSI Series Comparison Table
New Power Edition Series which is a notch higher than the basic Twin Frozr Series.
Below are some other basic specs of the card which not been mentioned above.

  • Upgrade Video Card for HP Pavilion a6228x Desktop PC

I'm wanting to upgrade the video card and was wondering if there were any suggestions as to a good card for under $60. I just need something equivalient to  "NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT or ATI Radeon X1950 Pro" or better. I just got Star Wars the Old Republic and my factory istalled graphics card is not powerful enough. I'm a bit confused on what type of graphics card my desktop takes. I did read that it has
PCI Two (One available) PCI Express x16 One (One available) PCI Express x1 One (One available)
Would a PCI Express 2.0 fit in one of these?
One of the cards I am considering is:

Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

    Hi,
You might want to google Stars Wars Old Republic system requirements and see what others are suggesting.  Game performance is also tied to the game quality settings and monitor resolution that you want to use.

On startup Mac Pro I get a blue screen and a cursor on the upper left. The mouse cursor shows up independently. Is it likely a video card failure?

I managed to boot the computer and get the desktop to show. I now have a "repaired" computer. There are several problems that have cropped up. One is that I can only start up now in Safe Boot mode. Is there a way to turn it off? Also, I do not have a sound list, so I can't access anything requiring audio. Google Chrome only shows up as a white screen. Pictures that loaded before don't load in browsers, etc. Any suggestions? I figure I should reinstall Mac OS Lion for starts, maybe even do a mirror backup and reformat the drive. I think this drive has turned into scrambled eggs...what a headache!

  • Video Card: MATROX MILLENNIUM G200 8MB SDRAM AGP

    Hello,
I have NVIDIA GEFORCE 256 video chip installed in my machine. As there is no driver available for it. I am planning to buy a new video card that is supported by Solaris 8. When I go thru the HCL, I find that MATROX MILLENNIUM G200 (or The other choice that I want to go is Diamond Viper 770.) is supported and thinking of buying that.
    1. Could someone share your experience about this video card?.
    2. Will this work with out giving any problem?.
    3. Or is there any reliable video card that is supported by Sol8?.
The reason I selected these video cards are because they are cheap and tested for all the resolution and color depth.
Please share your experience. Your suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks
    Raj

There is a bug in the Solaris 8 FCS driver for the G400 that causes lines of text to be painted very slowly in an X window. I found this sufficiently annoying when composing mail with Netscape Messenger (the mailtool component of Netscape Communicator) that I purchased the XIG X server (http://www.xig.com), which cured that particular problem and provided noticeably better graphic performance, in general.
I've heard that a driver update for the G400 card will ship with the first Sol8/X86 maintenance release that will resolve this problem.
