I7 920 Core Voltage fluxing issue? yae or nae

Well after reading up on useful info on the forum and grabbing some nifty item's I tried CPU-Z and notices my Core Voltage fluxes from 1.080 v ~ 1.112~1.232 off and on ... is this normal or some thing I need to worry about?
also NB Frequency @ 2812.9~28214.4 Mhz , Dram Freq - 703.2~703.5 Mhz

The fluctuations in CPU-Z are not all that uncommon. Many times, it is caused by the action of the power saving features in the system.

MSI KT3V low maximum core voltage

Hey guys
I'm very angry,because my kt3v have max. core voltage at 1,7V.Where i can find unofficial or beta bios for higer voltages? 1,7V is too low for good overclocking. I use at xp 1700+ (t-bred) and i have stable only 171 x 11.5.I heard that this cpu can run at higer speeds than 1974 mhz.
Where i can find any solution for this voltage?

I had the same problem. Not enough voltage to get my 1700+ past 1907 without stability issues. I used a defogger kit and closed all the L11 bridges on the processor which basically set the default voltage for the CPU at 1.85. Now when I go in to BIOS, the voltage is already set to 1.85, which I think is the max on most newer MSI boards. I never found a beta BIOS anywhere that got around that +/- .1 volt thing. There are also some guides out there about modifying the processor socket with small wires to jumper different pins together to alter the Vcore, but I didn't want to risk putting the wires in the wrong holes...heh. I only had to close 2 L11 bridges on my processor to get the default Vcore to 1.85 and they weren't that close together so it only took about 5 minutes to do it and it works like a champ. Good luck!

ON the first card everything is available but not on the second .

Don't have that issue any windows utility shows total vcore as core voltage + (VId % x core Voltage)
Not often i quote core centre as being correct but on mine CPU voltage is shown exactly as bios. Vcore @top left shows total vcore
whilst opening the left wing vcore shows the core voltage.
Agreed thereis always an issue with the accuracy of the sensor readings.

Lenovo H420 Core Voltage!

Hi Everyone. New user here. So I got a H420 system with an i3 2120 cpu. Using CPUZ, the core voltage is extremely high around 2.064 V.
Surely if that's the case, then the CPU would have been fried by now? The cpu temp at idle never goes above 32-33 so I am a bit confused here and been using the pc for 9 months now!!
Has anyone got the same issue? any suggestion how to get it fixed? Thanks

K8NGM2-FID CPU core voltage Fluctuations and instabilities-- Bad caps!!?

I Have K8NGM2-FID bought 6 months ago and started having stability issues since last month.
Here is my configuration
K8NGM2-FID ver 2.0 Bios 3.73 now, used to be 3.5, experimented both, but did not help
Onboard video, Onboard Lan, firewire
Memory : 512 x 2 Corsair DDR400 in dual channel mode at 2.65v 64MB to Video
CPU: AMD64 X2 3800+
HDD WD 160GB SATA150
Winfast TV2000 Expert Tv Tuner
Drivers, tried many version ( currently using latest Nvidia Video, MB drivers)
Now, the description of the problem.
System suddenly hangs with or without load, intermittenly. Nothing to do what we are working on. Even when System is idle.
Hangs means, it could happend two ways,
1. simply it would not respond, screen simply freezes,
2. sometimes, you simply see horizantal lines on monitor( Typically happens when cpu core voltage drops below it can handle). I know this because
I am using RMClock on my Turion laptop, and when we try to find lowest stable voltage we see this behaviour.
Now, some other observation, from the day one CPU core voltage has been fluctuating a lot. Used to fluctuate anywhere between 1.37v to 1.304v( at default 1.35v). But still has been stable. Ran 24hour prime95, so no problems.
Recently I am seeing voltage fluctuations is more, as low as 1.28v to 1.39v at default 1.35v, so I tried RMCLock and raised the voltage to 1.4v, but it seems that did not help much.
Now, As per the MSI PCALert4 voltage is changing anywhere from 1.28v to 1.38v, but also I get core voltage field empty( that is right no CPU core voltage shown) and alarm sounds. It seems, CPU does not get voltage at all and gets very low voltage for a second or so.
Things I tried, Changed the powersupply, changed the Memory, but no use. I am lucky enough to have exact same configuration I built for a friend. So, I checked voltages on his PC and I do not see this behaviour.
Now, I ran out of options.... any idea anyone had similar problem, and if they solved?

Also, another weird behaviour with Bios, even when I change setting in bios, they did not take effect, even loading default does not help, so I have to press CMOS reset button.

First to clarify, these things has been developed a monrh ago only. It has been fine for more than 5 months.
1). Yes Memory is insalled in closest DIMM sockets to CPU,
2). I think you mean mem voltage. The memory I have is Corsair Value series and it even runs fine DDR400 at 2.55v, but I bumped it to 2.65v and also tried 2.75v ( 2.65v is typical I have been using with this MB).
3). Memory has been tested with Memtest for 24 hours and ran Dual Prime95 for 24 hours when system is assembled.
Also swapped from another PC I built for my friend with same components( same corsair value series memory) Also tested my memory on his PC, no probs. BTW I also tested my memory at 333, freezing even happens even at that speed.
4). PSU has nothing to do, because I have been monitoring all PSU rails with SPeedFan none of of the rail voltages moved at all. I even monitored with Digital Multimeter to ensure. Anyways I even tried 3 psus, one ANtec 350W smart power supply, ThemalTake 420W, Ultra 400 Watts. All have more than enough juice to power this setup. (onboard Graphics card).
5). Yes, freezing happens in simply desktop too. Nothing to do with CPU load or graphics load. It could happen even when just idling.
6). I use stock CPU cooler in Antec 1650B case with 120MM Fan running in the back( approx 50cfm) and CPU temp never exceeded 47c and MB temp typically around 28c and NB temp around 50-60c using a digital probe and 55-70c using Nvidia Monitor based on load vs no load.
7). As per Dual core patches, I applied AMD Dual Core optimizer quite a while ago. As per the MS Patch, No I have not applied( But I doubt it helps because it has been stable without that for all these months). I may try that.
Now, what I am trying, I disabled CNQ, and logging Core voltage fluctuation with speedfan( no monitoring).
as of yesterday night the core voltage was varying from 1.28v to 1.39v( I think that is insane 110mv fluctuation in CPU core voltage!!?) at default CPU voltage of 1.35v. BTW it has nothing to with CPU load, all these logs generated when it was idle. I remember fluctuation even when MB was new, but lowest I observed was 1.304v.
SOmehow, I suspect VRM is pretty bad on this MB.
Anyways, see the response and let me know if you think I am missing somethings. Appreciate your help.

Core voltage stability on 865PE Neo2 PFS

I've just installed one of the new P-series NEO-2 MOBO's. Nice piece of work, although it seems there is still some work left to be done. Definite problems (although not serious) in Core center (althoug other posts indicate this may be indiginous to core center itself..)
More serious though is a reading of the processor core voltage.
I'm using a Celery 2.6, OC'd to 3.25G, FSB 125. Had to raise core voltage to 1.6V to get there, lower voltage led to crashes as low as FSB 104...
Recently, I looked at a scan of the core voltage (provided by Speedfan):
The problem lies in the fact that during disk access and/or high processor load, the core voltage drops as much as 90 mV, bringing it back to its default setting (spikes in graph, longer drop was writing DVD, CPU benchmark has similar result).
If it does this at 1.5V, I can understand the crashes.
I get the impression this board could do MUCH better with more stable voltage regulation.
Anyone seeing similar behaviour in other Neo2-boards? Am I missing a setting?(core-cell may be intervening) It's hard to imagine the PSU can't hack it.. 12V level is rock solid.

I'm not worrying. Just a bit surprised we all make a bug fuzz about overclocking, increasing core voltage by 25 mV at a time, and suddenly ignoring it all and "accepting" 70 mV drops if we need processing power...
If the voltage regulator would be more robust, it would be able to maintain the Vcore to (much?) higher power ratings.
This board drops by roughly 70 mV, constituting 3 notches on the voltage setting tab.
I went up to 1.6V, and what I actually get is 1.52.....
To have 1.6 available under all conditions, I'd need to set to 1.7 (yes, I've tried), which is over the top for "normal" overclocking (not to mention considerably higher temperatures).
Anyway, I'd like to know what other boards are doing regarding Vcore stability. Anyone out there with additional data?
Maybe a new target for modifications? (if it's worth it...)

Z97 G45 i7 4790K Core Voltage

i just got my new z97 g45. is it possible to set the core voltage to a fixed value? im using a dark rock advanced c1 and my core temps are in idle mode around 40 °C. seems kinda high to me so id try to lower the cpu core voltage. (i got 2 sysfans and the temperature in the case are about 25 to 30 °C.)
if its possible where and how can i change that?

70 °C with aftermarket cooler? Either you got bad CPU (with bad thermal solution between the chip and lid itself) or the cooler is completely screwed..
1.25V is quite a lot. For my i5 4670 on 3.6GHz I use fixed 1.050V and it's all good and pretty cool, though it also was getting around 1.15 (or above, can't remember) on default settings.
So what you can do is set 3.8GHz fixed on your CPU, run Intel Burn Test together with CPU-Z and see the max V you get then. And for example if you get around 1.15V, try to use 1.08V. If all good (Intel Burn Test it then), try even lower 1.07V until you reach the point where it will BSOD (I believe) or not boot properly.
But getting the right cooler is the most important and you shouldn't be hitting these temps with aftermarket one.

2000+ palamino core voltage setting

trying to overclock 2000+ prossesor have gotten the system to boot at 1.89ghz then crashes loading programs. i have the core voltage set at 1.775(i think).what is the maximum safe voltage that i can push this processor to without meltdown? have thermalTake volcano 9+ running at maximum speed(what a brick) plus 11 case fans. thanks for any help in advance ?(

AMD has the datasheets for Athlon Model 6, 8, 10 available publicly from amd.com. You can download and inside should have the maximum voltage stated.

Z77a-GD80 core voltage won't increase

I can't seem to get my core voltage past 1.272. I recently updated my bios and my overclock has become unstable and after checking Cpu-z I believe this is the reason. Any ideas?

Live Update is the worst method to use. The ME FW probably didn't get properly installed. Yes, after a flash, the newest ME driver should be re-installed. This board is already EOL and listed in the archive section of MSI's Websites. Here is a thread that might be of help;

MSI Afterburner - 2.2.0 Beta 3 Core Voltage 0+ (Question)

Sup guys,
I installed the MSI Afterburner - 2.2.0 Beta 3, i read the manual and some sites etc. one thing i do not understand and that is how this version's Core Voltage works. As i've seen on youtube and various forums that the Core Voltage is displayed as the volts are set to exp: 0.0950V, but mine is displayed as a "+0". It never displays the Volts at which you are currently at, like the Core Clock or Memory clock etc. Any ideas?

So i switched to "Performance Mode" and kind of almost freaked out when i booted back up, because my pc took a while to start up "longer than normal", when it entered Windows it changed to 800x600 Res and said my Hardware was not supported, but a min or 2 after that it said "New Device Installed and ready for use" and asked to restart, so i restarted and....... kapish

However, I have seen in some reviews that e7300 core voltage is 1.168V.

There can be slight differences between different CPU exemplars, that is why Intel cannot tell you the precise default VCore for its different processors and if Intel cannot tell you that, nobody else can.

KT4V overclocking - Core voltage

Hi,
I have a TBred Athlon XP 1700+ (DLT3C 0308RPMW) and KT4V mobo. The board can supply 1.85V core voltage. But my CPUs default is 1.5V. My problem: Vcore settings in the BIOS are limited up to 1.6V only. The CPU can safely handle much more in fact.
I don't want to solder anything on the mobo or fiddle on bridges on my CPU (HSF so hard to take out) so Ive found an idea. I am reverse engineering the CMOS contents to find where the Core Voltage is stored. I found that locations 63 and 85 on the CMOS control Vcore. I could obtain 1.625V by manually altering the contents. But when I try one higher setting (that should be 1.65V), the mobo just doest not post at all. So probably I am missing something on the CMOS contents.
Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

BOGEYMAN1 CGA, you should be talking about L11 unlocking. That is very delicate stuff for me. I can barely see the bridge, I am sure I can't unlock it successfully ;(
I am working on the dump program. But it does not run on Win2K and XP (it accesses the ports directly). So I'll have to write a fresh one for the command prompt (again the old friend Borland Pascal compiler )
Up to now I obtained the following info:
CMOS memory locations 63 and 85 do control the core voltage, that is for sure. To increase Vcore by 0.025V, increment the contents of loc. 63 and 85 by one.
But there are other parameters affecting loc.63 too. It is pretty complicated. The FSB, DDR voltage etc. Nearly all the parameters seem to have something on location 63 ?( So in the final program probably I will have to make all the adjustments available, like the BIOS, or it won't work. We'll see.
Now, can you tell me how the put the dump program on the internet? Some free web server or so?

Z68A-G43 core voltage setting?

Hey everyone, I'm new to the boards and have just one question: Where is the optional to manually set the core voltage on this motherboard? I submitted a ticket asking the same, and support said I'd find it in the OC tab of the newest BIOS (4.1), but I'm still unable to locate it after updating it. Either it's not there, or I'm somehow missing it.
Any help would be much appreciated, and feel free to chastise me if the option is right in front of my face
As it stands my 2500k is at 4.0ghz but cpuz shows the volts at 1.336

After looking in the downloadable pdf manual, there is no adjustment available for the CPU voltage. It is not an available feature on your series of mainboard that I can see. To confirm this, you might contact MSI Tech Support here; http://support.msi.com
