Merci

  • MSI 875 Pro Neo FIS2R - HDD-LED doesn`t work

    Hello,
yesterday I got my new MSI 875 Pro Neo FIS2R.
Installation of motherboard and Windows XP went without any problem. So I`m very satisfied with this Board.
But now I noticed, that the HDD-LED doesn`t show any activity.
Then I turned around the HDD-LED plug of the Case with again no success: The HDD-LED doesn`t shine...
    My (IDE-)storage-components are:
    Primary Master: NEC DVD-ROM
    Primary Slave: NEC DVD-RW
    2 x WD Raptor (SATA) as RAID0 (ICH5R)
Is there anything wrong ? What can I do ??

I already tried turning around the cable, but it didn`t help.
Therefore I was asking myself, why the HDD-LED didn`t show any LED activities at all (DVD-ROM should work)...

I truly wonder have you read my reply?
    Hello Maesus,
yes, I read your reply. But it didn`t answer my question, why HDD-LED don`t show any DVD-ROM activities (remember, DVD-ROM is IDE-primary master and DVD-RW is primary slave)...

  • 875 NEO-FIS2R Setup.

I am new to the scene and have just purchased a 875P Neo-FIS2R motherboard.  This was my plan, please give me any suggestions you may have.  I need memory and a new set of serial ata hd's.  I want to put an serial ata array with the XP os.  I want to overclock the system from 2.4 to 3.0 by overclocking the bus to 250mhz.  I have a Cambridge Soundworks 4.1 sound as well.  I have a Nvidia G-Force FX 5200.  Is this a good configuration?  If so how do I set up the bios to accomadate this setup?
One more question. I have read alot of posts with problems to this board.  Should I return it and get the Asus 875 board instead?
Thank you for your help and attention to my issues.
    Groundzero

If you go to other board forums you'll here the same thing about their boards - I think alot of people initially have some problems and thenm tend to work them out.  I'm happy with what I got - I wish I would have researched on RAM more though - look at the RAM posts in this forum and you will get an idea of what works best with the 875.

  • 875 Neo-FIS2R Can't detect keyboard controller

Am running the 875 Neo-FIS2R with a P4 2.4GHz. Can't even get to bios. The D-Bracket 2 stops with LEDs 1,2 and 4 red and LED 3 green. The book tells me that the boeard is initializing the keyboard controller but it just hangs there.
I had a friend look at it who just setup an identical confoguration but he could not get it to work (His was already running Windows XP).
Has anyone elese had this problem?

Are you getting any kind of Post? or just a blank screen with beeps or no beeps?

  • 875 Neo FIS2R

I have 875 Neo FIS2R, PIV 2,8GHz @800MHz and 2* Kingston PC 3200 400MHz CL3 256MB DDR RAM. I tuned my CPU up using Windows Core Center, it's now running on 215MHz x14.0 (3013MHz), Vcore voltage is 1.5625, memory voltage is 2.60 and AGP voltage is 1.6. Core Center hanged at something about 3300 MHz.
I have a question: How should I set voltages, memory, FSB and things like that to get best performance??

Sorry, but there is not any answer to this question. Overclocking is a matter og trying, failing, testing, trying and failing over and over again. You have to have top notch components and a good cooling system to go to the top as well.

  • Need help finding a 875 Neo FIS2R

The tech guys say we don't sell them to the public try e-bay.  Nothing on e-bay.  I've spent the last two hours searching the web for an 875P Neo FIS2R and haven't found more than a review.  I used to think I was good at finding the impossible but not this time.  The Promise chipset on mine is dead.  If I can't find exactly the same board with the same bios version I will lose all of my data.  Not again!  >:( >:(  Anybody know where I can fine one?
    thanks

  • 875P Neo-FIS2R File Copy errors loading Win XP Pro

While installing WinXP Pro SP 1 I get file copy failures on random files two or three times during  the install. Retry succeeds on the file, but errors keep coming up after install randomly. Explorer crashes on logon, files are corrupt, etc. Tried two different MBs, two different CPUs, two different PSUs, two different sets of RAM, different IDE cables, booting from both DVD Drives, different Win XP CDs. I also tried the same with a Gigabyte 875 board and had exactly the same problem. With the Gigabyte board, if I ran the bus with a setting of 190 or 195 instead of 200MHz, the system ran fine, but then my 2.8GHz CPU is running at 2.66GHz. I can't go slower than 200MHz (but I did try 201 and 202; same errors) on the Neo-FIS2R so I can't find a setting that is stable and that's the board I'd like to be running. Any ideas about what's causing all of these combinations from running stable at a stock setting of 2.8GHz?
    Thanks.

I am also having trouble with this on xp pro. When fully installed I get many random errors. New at this but have read that if you install a partition more than 137 gb data corruption may occur. So I partitioned the drive 20, 70, 70, and installed xp pro on the 20 gb partition. Per mb and hdd manuals I installed xp sp1. I am still getting random errors. This is the only hdd. Maxtor 160 gb ata 133 on ide1. Is it impossible to run the system this way? It gives me random crashes and stop requests. It also at one point gave me erros saying the cdrom memory is corrupt. Is the hdd drive sze possibly the problem?

  • Difference between K8T Neo-FIS2R & FSR

Might be a daft question but whats the difference between K8T Neo-FIS2R and K8T Neo-FSR????

I though the SAME thing But was told Otherwise by a Mod. Because with the PENTIUM Based Boards "2" Does Mean Two Different Types of RAID Not JUST the Difference in the Southbridge and the Onboard Controller, Because the (2) in the i875PE-FIS2R means that Both the ICH5-R and And the Promise Controller support BOTH S-ATA RAID, and P-ATA IDE RAID, as there is a P-ATA IDE Controller on The Onboard Promise Chip also, as it is IDE-3 .....So I Imagine we are BOTH Correct, But this WILL Teach me to Open my Mouth in the AMD Side of the Forum ...Just Kidding......Sean

  • Opinion: MSI875P NEO-FIS2R is/was a :censored: board

I purchased my first and what will now be my last MSI motherboard in the MSI875P NEO-FIS2R.  My original board crapped out for no good reason and was replaced under warranty, with the replacement board crapping out just over a week later - without overclocking or anything else.  The box had a 520W PSU, ran 7 x HDDs, 1 x DVD, 1 x CD-R and 8 fans incl. (PSU fans).  The 2nd board crapped out for no good reason when I placed the Prescott 3.4E CPU under load doing video rendering (the CPU and PSU are fine and dandy - running in another rig now).
Guess there'll be many here who disagree, but after many years of building and running my own systems using a range of other boards, this has most definitely been my worst experience.  Time to go back to ABIT boards.  MSI's support is so good I've yet to get a response (over a month later) as to what alternatives I have to get my data off my striped drives cofigured via the on-board Promise 20378 chipset.
Adios MSI,  I'm tired of , the  out -- your 875 boards and I've no reason to believe any of your later boards are any better.

Personally, I think these are fine boards--they're just a bit, well, demanding might be the word.  They tend to confound the end-user who expects to just plug everything in and go. However, if you take the time to learn their ins and outs, they can really, really scream. Moreover, so long as one exercises the slightest bit of caution (and let me suggest that when it comes to me, the slightest bit is slight indeed), they can even be quite forgiving on a hardware level. Behold the fact that I have managed to not fry a single component on this board. I've also found that often the problem doesn't actually lie with the board, though it may appear so at first blush.
As regards tech support: well, I can't really comment here. I operate under the assumption that the tech support people will, should I call them, have drastically less idea what's going on than I do.  I've found this to be true about 99% of the time over the last seven years or so. Moreover, if you were running RAID0 without a backup, well, I have a hard time seeing how that's anyone's fault other than your own. It's a commonly know fact that if a 0 array goes south in any way, your data is basically screwed.  Ten seconds on google will tell you that.
I wish people would actually find out what they mean before they complain. There are certain things one can fault these boards for, but I've never seen any of them mentioned in a post such as this.

  • Probems with msi 875p neo Fis2r and network controller driver

Hi guys just wondering if anyone could help me with my msi 875p neo FIS2R and problems with the network controller driver/network card.
I'm running xp on a computer my nextdoor neighbour gave me. I got it working fine  with service pack 3 installed but then installed a bunch of windows updates last night and the computer would switch itself off before windows could start. Now I reinstalled xp and unfortunately it does not recognise the network controller/card at all now. I tried installing the intel network controller drivers but it stopped because it said no intel adapter/card was installed/present. Could anyone please help with suggestions? I tried running everest and under newtwork it doesnt list intel network adapters but I'm pretty certain it is. Again any suggestions?

  • 875P Neo-FIS2R boot problem

    Hello,
Just built a new machine with the following parts. Sometimes it boots fine, but mostly when you turn it on nothing happens, no beeps, no visual, no nothing. Also, once in awhile it takes 15 - 20 seconds before it beeps and visuals come on screen. It's using bios version 1.2 with all default settings by shorting out jumpers. (It gives different voltage settings when reset by jumpers vrs utility.) Once it boots it runs fine, even though memory timings are 2-4-4-6 SPD instead of 2-2-2-6 SPD that my memory modules are suppose to be. However when I manually change to 2-2-2-6 the bios shows that but CPU-Z still shows 2-4-4-6, thats a different story though which a bios update would probally fix. Right now all I want is for it to boot consistently, every time. Ive tried a different power switch and a different power supply. Neither helped and this is driving me crazy, somebody please assist or post any information you might feel would help.

    Hey,
I have /had same problem with Neo 875 and corsair TWINX512-3200LL and bios V1.2 It has something to do with mem settings and/or Vdimm voltage. At this moment it boots fine but I can't explain way. It seems that this kind of memory is very sensitive for the Vdimm voltage. 2.5V is to low and some systems refuse to post. (see the bios 1.4 flash problems) Must user use 2.6v; 2.65v or 2.7v. Check out if you can find a stable setting. Bios v1.2 uses default SPD settings. you can't change them. Although after bios reset (removed battery) I get some different values with cpu-z. 2-2-2-6 I don't understand why I get those values in CPU-Z. I don't believe that my system is running with those settings. I think it's running with default bios 1.2 settings 2,5-4-4-6 but who knows?
A lot of users had dead MOBO's when they flashed to v1.4. The reason isn't found. Some moderators say the didn't wait for the DOS prompt after flashing (Could be) Some users can confirm they did. Maybe it has to do with the corsair memory. If you do a search you will find a lot of usefull information (bios v1.4 and/or MOBO hangs on keyboard initialisation)

  • 875P NEO FIS2R board

I've recently tried to purchase the 875P NEO FIS2R motherboard but when the board arrived it was the FISR version not the FIS2R version which I ordered.  I promptly returned it to the supplier as the FISR is in my opinion a lower specification as it doesn't have the same Raid capability and is not what I ordered.  However, the supplier is telling me that MSI no longer make the FIS2R board and the FISR he supplied is the model that MSI has replaced the FIS2R with.  I find this difficult to believe and suspect the supplier is trying to rip me off.  Can anyone shed any light on this?  When I check the MSI website the FIS2R is still featured but I'm having great difficulty sourcing one.

I wouldn't buy this board... many people are having serious issues with it.
This is not true. You can't base your opinions on a board by what you read in a forum. Remember that the majority of people come to a forum because they have a problem. Sometimes it is the board, but as often as not it is because of something else. Most people posting are do it yourselfers and need a forum to learn how things go together and don't go together. Most shops assembling computers have the luxury of spare components for testing and lots of past experience.
MSI sell millions of boards annually. The forum doesn't get hundreds of thousands of new users, so I think it is more appropriate to say a few people have issues, not many.

  • 875P NEO FIS2R problems with booting at power-up

Having problems with booting at power-up.
Recently, with no apparent modification to system - at power up the system will often not boot.  About 80% of time systems seems to go into a loop with CD/DVD drive light blinking a few times, then the floppy drive light comes on and can hear the FDD run – within 30 seconds or so, this process starts over again.  Power switch LED is on and HDD LED is on (continuously).  All fans are running (power supply fan, case fan, CPU fan and Intel Canterwood 875 fan ).
Monitor power on light is in power save mode (amber) when system does not boot.  When boot is successful the monitor power light turns green immediately.
After pressing the reset button several times (varies between pressing reset button 1 time to 30 or more times) system will then boot OK or go into set up.
Once running there is no apparent problem.
This mainboard comes with D Bracket containing 2 USB 2.0 ports, and 4 diagnostics LEDs - when boot problem occurs the diagnostic LEDs, give a code that in the MSI mainboard manual states “Initializing Keyboard Controller” and diagnostic LEDs stays in this mode until via reset button provides a successful boot and start up.

No, second 40GB HDD was installed months before this issue started and is jumpered as slave drive.  Also, no other additional hardware installed for several months before issue.

  • Tweekin Neo FIS2R

I am trying to find out the best way to tweek my new 875 Neo FIS2R :D  Board for best performance. ( through Bios and/or Windows XP HE ) Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do?? Any info will be helpfully!!
Below is what I currently have:

You should be a little faster than rambus.  Even with DDR 400 it will only run at DDR 333 unless you have 800 FSB CPU.  533 FSB CPU has a bandwidth of 4.2GB/SEC.  Single Channel DDR 333 has a band width of 2.7GB/SEC.  Dual channel DDR 333 memory has a band width of 5.4GB/Sec.  As long as memory has at least the band width of CPU FSB more bandwidth will not improve performance.  The fact that you increased the amount of ram from 512MB to 1GB does not effect the benchmark because it does not use that much ram in its tests.
