IA64 JDK 6u25 installer broken on Win2K3 SP2

The current JDK installer on the download site (jdk-6u25-windows-ia64.exe) will not run on a 64 bit IA machine running Windows 2003 SP 2. Running the exe results in an error popup with message "The image file jdk-6u25-windows-ia64.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine." At least two of the archive JDK installers (jdk-6u7-windows-ia64.exe and jdk-6u21-windows-ia64.exe available from http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/6u21/index.html) do not have this error on the same system and install successfully. I wonder did Sun test this installer?

The error seems to occur on 32bit system trying to execute a 64bit executable.
As you have said you are already executed the the u21 and u7 64bit version already without any issues, can you check weather you have changed any properties of the u25 version like "compatibility mode" ( right click on the setup file and select properties and see "Compatibility" tab).

I noticed later an error says java version is incorrect,
I installed java 1.6 before I installed oracle apps is this correct?Rapid Install installs the Java 2 Standard Edition 1.4.2 automatically for systems running on Solaris, Linux, or Windows operating systems. So, you do not have to install any JDK/J2SE before starting the installation.
Also, make sure you have a valid entry in the hosts file and you can ping the IP address as well as the hostname.

there is no command line installation option for wls on windows, unfortunately.
Have you searched the archives of this newsgroup for answers? There have been numerous

  • JDK 6 installation on Win XP on AMD 64 platform

    Dear All,
When I try to install JDK 6 on my new labtop which has Windows XP (AMD Athlon 64 platform) it is giving the following error:
"This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Please contact product vendor."
The size of the exe package is around 34 MB.
Can anyone let me know what exactly is the problem.
    Thanks & Regards
    Kishore

I'm pretty sure you only use the 64 bit version of Java if you're using a 64 bit OS. If you're using the normal windows XP, get the normal Windows version, not the 64 bit windows version. It's not about the architecture, it's about the operating system.

  • JDK issues with Windows Server 2003 SP2 Standard Edition

    Hi,
We are running an ETL (Extracts-Transform-Load) Jar file which reads data from MS Commerce Server 2002, AS400 and SQL Server 2000 database and populates a SQL Server 2000 database. The jar was running fine on Windows Server 2000 but started to stall when we are running it from our newly acquired Windows Server 2003 SP2 server class machine. The JDK version is 1.4 on Windows 2000 and 1.6 on Windows Server 2003. Interestingly, the jar is running fine via JDK 1.6 on another Windows Server 2003 dev machine.
The jar does not throw any error and we have to manually shutdown the execution of the jar.
Can anyone please suggest some solutions here?
    Thank you!

Um, does this have anything to do with JavaMail? If not, you might try a more appropriate forum.

  • JDK\JRE installation

    Hi,
I hope somebody can clear something up for me, it's something that has been bugging me and I cant find the answer.
When I installed the jdk and jre I believe that I got 2 folders, one for each (if this is wrong then please correct me) as the installation times for the folders are 2 minutes apart.
However when I look in the jdk folder it has a jre folder within in it, that looks to contain all the items from the jre installation.
Can somebody tell me what is the standard jre you would be using from an installation? The one in the jdk folder or the one in jre folder?
    Is one redundant?
    Thanks

    PaulOckleford wrote:
By 'the one' in the jre folder do you mean the bin folder? As I dont have a jdk folder in the jre installation directory. There is no jdk folder in the jre installation directory. A jre is intended to provide an execution environment for classes.
I find this even more strange and I am even more confused now because there is no javac in the bin folder of the jre.javac is available in a JDK and not a JRE. A JRE is intended to be used with classes - those are already compiled and there is no need to have a compiler in there. The JDK is meant for developers and it will have a javac executable.
I guess then those people can only compile classes from inside their IDE and not from the command line?huh?

  • Unsupported JDK during installation

I need to install Netweaver AS Java 7.0 SR3 and It seems that I need to install Solution Manager. I have a problem when running sapinst with the JDK version which is not supported. It requires also only 64 bit jdk.
My machine is Intel Xeon running Windows 2008 64 bit and there is no suiteable jdk in SUN.
According to installation guides, it should be minimum 1.4.2_09 and release 5 and 6 are not supported.
    What should I do ?
    Thanks,
    Haim Beyhan

    Hi Haim Beyhan,
Pls download the j2sdk-1_4_2_17-windows-i586-p.exe from the Link:
I am sure that, this will be supported for the Windows Server2008 ^4 Bit Version as well.
Kindly check this out and let me know the response.
As well as ensure that you have set the Java Path in the Environment Variables of User Variable as --> JAVA_HOME = <Drive Letter>:\<j2sdk1.4.2_17>
and add it in the System Path as well like under Path= <Drive Letter>:\<j2sdk1.4.2_17>\bin then Click on OK OK.
Go to the Command Prompt and Check the Java Version is Displaying or Not:
c:>Java -version and Click on Enter.
Then you come to know , the installed JAVA Version is working or not.
And ensure that if you have installed any previous versions Uninstall the same thro the Control Panel First.
At the same time Uncheck the Boxes in the IE or Firfox versions of JRE or JAVA VM.
Check it out and let me know the response.
    Cheers!!

  • 5.0 JDK + Netbeans installer doesn't work

    Hi All,
I'm running Windows XP and have just downloaded the 5.0 JDK with the netbeans beta. When I execute the .exe file, the installShield app runs and says "loading virtual machine". i then get a window with the license agreement (which I agree to) and am then asked to specify the folders I want to install Java and Netbeans into.
The window then confirms that installation will proceed, but when I click "next", the window just closes - and that's it. The new (empty) folders are created on my disk, but nothing else happens.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Mike.

Thanks for the advice - I tried the default directories but it made no difference.
Anyway, I've finally figured it out. I run the StyleXP windows skinning program by TGTsoft. On a hunch, I disabled it temporarily and returned to the basic "blue" windows XP theme. Guess what - installer ran fine. Looks like the Java Virtual Machine that is used during the install process can't handle the StyleXp themes and chokes.
Bizarre eh? I've been using StyleXp for a year and have never had any other compatibility issues.
    Hope this helps someone else.
    Cheers,
    Mike.

    Hi,
Recently, we have been facing problem with Crystal Reports 10 developer edition on Windows Server 2003 R2 Service Pack2.
The user function library concept doesnu2019t seem to be working on Windows Server 2003. We had installed CR10 Service Pack 6.

  • Publisher 6.4 Installation broken

    Hi,
I am trying to setup Aqualogic G6 6.1 on a Windows 2003 server.
So far I have had no issues installing Aqualogic Interaction and I was able to get some initial communities setup. However when I then tried to install Publisher 6.4 I started experiencing some strange issues.
If I try to view the Publisher Administration portal I receive an messaging advising the database could not be contacted.
I checked the DB settings and as far as I can tell everything looks okay, I am able to connect with the user credentials I setup during Publisher installation and I can view the tables the Publisher installation created. I also did not experience any issues when importing the Publisher package into the portal.
I checked the log files for Publisher and found something very strange in there, Publisher is trying to connect to the database with a username that is the same as the database name!
It is completely ignoring the information that was provided during installation, instead there are numerous errors in the log file all indicating Publisher and then subsequently, Workflow were unable to connect to the database using a user id <same_as_database>.
This is obviously wrong, I have no idea why this has happened on a fresh build and I am now concerned the whole Aqualogic Installation process seems to random and inconsistent from machine to machine!
    Any ideas?
    Tahir

    Did you get this fixed?
Is this a clean Publisher install or an upgrade? I was able to get Publisher running ok on 6.1 MP1. If this is still not working, I would uninstall Publisher and reinstall it with the same db info as before. Maybe the db settings in the config file got corrupted somehow. If the Pub diag page checks out, everything should be setup ok.

  • JDK 6 Installer Hangs on Applying Patches

I'm having difficulty installing JDK6 Update 3 on a Windows XP box. The installer hangs forever on the applying java patches step and after a few hours I've had to kill the process. I've also tried the Update 2 installer and even a 1.5 installer, and these end up hanging as well. I've searched around the web and been unable to find any help on this, so I'm hoping someone might be able to provide some insight before I resort to reinstalling XP on the machine. Thanks in advance.

    3. Installed MS VC++ Standard Edition (In a folder named "VC6" with "Register Environment Variables" checked and it contains two folders then named as "Common" and "VC98") and copied link.exe to C:\system32
    4. Added DNS Suffix in Computer\Properties\Computer Name\Change\More"

    Hi,
its just a package i have with the name MS visual C++ 6.0 standard edition You should not use Microsoft VC++ 6.0 as it is NOT supported with R12.
and i didn't installed MS visual studio separately...You can either go with MKS or Cygwin, so if you have installed latter it should be OK.
this error appears in a command prompt window which just shows up for a very little time and on the gui , there comes up a pop up window which states something like "error running external process" and it has only two options "Abort" and "Retry" and after retry the problem is the same....Please post the complete error message from the installation log file.
are the cygwin files correct that i am replacing and deleting?what do you mean by replacing and deleting?
....I hope you will help me to get out of this problem...and i read your post and you told to install loopback adapter and i previously tried installation with the steps told by you and it also generated the same error so i didn't installed the loopback adapter this time...I believe the error is irrelevant to the loopback adapter. Anyway, please post the complete error message from the log file so we can suggest something to resolve the issue.
