IAb of iAS 6.0 sp2 cannt be start on Intel P4 platform!
i have installed the IWS4.1 in winNT4.0 , updated the JVM to 1.2.2_10 version, IWS 4.1 can be started.
but when i finished to install the iAS 6.0 sp2, the iAb cannt be started.
any ideas will be appreciated.
I gotta admit, I'm a bit ashamed right now.
Thank you, Mr. Gimbel. The problem was indeed an incorrect password. While we did indeed enter the new password into the PSE, we did not delete the entries first. Instead we simply tried to update the keytab entries with sappsegen -p SAPSNCSKERB.pse -nopsegen -a [email protected]
Should anyone find this post: Delete the keytab entries before entering an entry with an updated password.

IAS 6.0 SP2 - IPS 3.0 SP2 integration
Hi
I am faced with a problem related to IAS 6.0 SP2 and iPlanet Portal
Server 3.0 SP2. I have deployed the beans on IAS and can access it from
a rich client.
I've servlets running in IPS and from these, I want to access the beans
on IAS. I'm getting an unsatisfied link error. Theexception thrown is as
follows :

I've set classpaths for the rich client in kjs and also in jvm12.conf of
IPS 3.0. But going by the rich client examples given with IAS, like the
converter client example, we have to set
a LD_LIBRARY_PATH as in runclient.sh. There is no place in IPS where we
can set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Is that the reason ?
I would appreciate your thoughts on this issue.
Thanks
ParthaOne work around for this is to have only one copy in the system class path and have it loaded one only once and one copy. Then both the applications A and B can have access to this library, with out any ambiguity.
So, put the library in the application server's system class path.
I am little confused with your statements in 4th and 5th paragraphs, that shared library has been modified and packed in Application B and then deployed. So, you have two libraries alomost the same in Application A as well as Application B.
According to my understanding, since the library in App B is superset to the library (shared library??, as you call. Is this really a shared library now?) in Application A, we can only have one only one library in the Application Server System class path. Am I correct?
If this answer does not answer your question accurately, please get back. And please let me know about the answer.

Is it possible to install Two iAS 6.5 SP2 instances on a single solaris box
Hi,
I have iPlanet Application server 6.0 SP2 installed on sun solaris 2.7.
Now, I want to install one more instance of iAS (same version) on the same solaris box. Just wondering, is it possible, because i think in case of Sun One Apps Server 7 its not possible.
If its possible, is there any specific configuration I have to make ?
Thanks in advance,
PrakashHello,
I think it is possible to have two instances of IAS 6.5 on one machine because last year I had similar situation with IAS 6.5 Enterprise - I instaled it twice and put them in cluster. Things were just fine.
Each creation of instance of app server meant new installation of IAS software in different install folder, where second one used Directory Server installed durring the first installation.
I remember that I had only one Directory Server installation where each IAS instance had its own space for configuration data (by specifying diferent name for "IAS global config params" during the installation) and different set of port numbers for IAS processes. Finnaly, I put these two instances in a cluster...
IAS 7.0 (Sun One App server 7.0) has different approach regarding creating and configuring several app server instances, because creating one more instance of app server doesn't mean another installation of software...

Random SP2 error when starting oracle process through SHELL script
Hi All,
I am trying to process data in n-Number of tables through a package. The package is called through a shell script to create start data processing. All calls to the package are in a sql script which is basically exec calls-
exec package.process ('T1','some param');
exec package.process ('T1','some param');
exec package.process ('T..n','some param');
I have a shell script which I use to execute commands from the sql script. There is a reason behind using shell script. For some strange reason, I keep on getting -
ERROR: logon denied - check for valid user with valid privileges
SP2-0640: Not connected
SP2-0641: "EXECUTE" requires connection to server
SP2-0640: Not connected
for some EXEC calls. Problem is, errors are generated at random. So in one run, I get error for T10,T11 and then in next run I might get for some other tables.
However, when I am running the sql script from the sql prompt, all calls to the package are executed without any problem.
This makes me think, it is something to do with the way database connection being initiated through UNIX.
Has anyone faced similar issue? Your help/gudence is much appreciated.
DB: Oracle 10.2.0.5
OS: SUN Solaris 10
Thanks in advance.Login credentials are provided inside the shell script.
I did put a sleep(10) after EOF but no help. As mentioned if I run script file from sql promt, it runs without any hiccup. So it is the connection through the UNIX that is causing issue.
As pointed out by Sybrand, I agree that it does not make a sense to connect and commit after every sql statement. So decided to change the shell script and so far, the result from my initial tests on a sample data is quite encouraging. Hopefully I will have a solution.
But it will be nice to know why SHELL is doing what it is doing!!
Legacy prog are sometime big time eye-openers..;) -
SP2-1503 when starting sqlplus (privilege problem)
System: windows 2003 terminal server
Oracle db: 10gr2
After i installing the database everything works perfect as administrator user, but when i start sqlplus as a "normal" user without administrator rights, the following error message apears:
SP2-1503: Oracle aanroepinterface kan niet
SP2-0152: ORACLE functioneert mogelijk niet
Please help...Hi,
We had this issue on one of our 11.1.0.6 database running on IBM AIX whereby no oracle user was trying to access the database. We followed the metalink note 417067.1 to resolve it.
For those who don't have access to metalink, this is the solution from the note that worked for us:
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
1. Manually change the privileges for the $ORACLE_HOME/oracore/zoneinfo directory and files.
chmod o+r oracore
chmod o+r oracore/zoneinfo/timezone.dat
or just type from $ORACLE_HOME directory:
2. SQL*Plus should be working now.
$sqlplus usr/password@dbalias
See if that helps.

EP6.0 SP2: Error while starting Testclient
Hi,
i tried to start the testclient from the Java Development -> Component Starter -> com.sap.portal.pdk.srv.connectorframework.
But i get this Error.
>Portal Runtime Error
>
>An exception occurred while processing a request for :
>iView : N/A
>Component Name : N/A
>
>iView not found: >com.sap.portal.connectors.testwebservice.TestClient.
>Exception id: 10:28_26/08/04_0001
>See the details for the exception ID in the log file
Has anybody an answer, while this iView is not found?
Stephan BorchertTry firstly to see if in the code sample the name TestClient is equal to the XML file.
2nd u should also check if the path in the XML its pointing to the package where u have TestClient
oh.. one more thing:
In the XML file try to check this:
<application>
<application-config>
<property name="startup" value="true"/>
<property name="SharingReference" value="htmlb,com.sap.portal.ivs.connectorservice,landscape,urlgenerator,com.sap.km.cm"/>
<property name="releasable" value="false"/>
</application-config>
<components>
in this case try to see if it was com.sap.portal.ivs.connectorservice, so that it can run
i hope it helps -
Add Mouse - Cannt move start point
Captivate v5.5
A work colleague using v5.5 is unable to move the start point of the mouse pointer trail they add to a slide using Insert/Standard Object/Mouse or the insert mouse tool bar.
They can move the pointer end to place they want it to finish but unable to grab and drop the start point and place it where they want the mouse to start from.
I have tried it on my v5.5 and it works OK for me.
Any ideas please as to what she needs to do - or why this might be ?
NoelHi Noel,
If you are using mouse pointers in more that one slide, then the end point of the mouse pointer on the first slide, becomes the start point on the second and so on.
This is done to keep the continuation of the mouse pointer across the slides. -

I have installed Iplanet6.0sp2 on solaris 8(JDK1.3.1) and Iam running admin server under root.
Any Help is Appreciated
RajHi,
Did you installed iWS6.0sp2 recently. If it's so have you given (JDK path,JDK lib path,JDK classpath) while installation. Please remove JDK path in admin server and try to start the server.
OR
1. Try to do fresh installation at the time don't give your jdk path(while installation).
2. Start the Admin server & try to hit admin page.
3. Now configure JDK & start the iWS. i hope now you will able to hit the admin page.
Still, you face problem let me know the output of below.
#/<server root>/https-admserv/start -configtest
#/<server root>/https-admserv/start -e
Thanks,

Is IAS 6.5 compatible with IBM z/OS 1.4
I am currently running IAS 6.5 SP2 on Solaris that is using the CICS Connector to communicate with CICS v1.3 on an IBM mainframe. We are upgrading from IBM OS/390 to IBM z/OS 1.4. Are there any compatibility issues?
the docs says that it supports the following :
Supported Versions of CICS
The iPlanet Application Server Enterprise Connector for CICS supports IBM CICS running on OS/390. The required releases are MVS 5.2.2 and CICS ESA 4.1 and above with current APARS. iPlanet Application Server Enterprise Connector for CICS includes installation and
configuration for both TCP/IP and SNA (APPC) protocols.
Check with their support folks... -

2. Does cxs engine crash after you start and kas keeps restarting the cxs

Moved to iAS SP3 and IIOP to secure app fails
Hello,
I have just moved to iAS SP3 from SP2 and our rich client nolonger asks
me to log in?! In SP2 it did as required by the security roles in the
deployment descriptors. In the CXS log I get the following:

[21/Sep/2001 15:12:13:4] info: PROT-006: new connection established
I'm wondering about the second last line with the error. Anyone have any
comments/thoughts?
Anyone else using SP3 with an IIOP client to a secure app?
Thanks, JeffHello,
More info. I think it is my deployment descriptor that is the issue.
Somehow SP2 determined what secure application an EJB belonged to and asked
my IIOP client to ask for the user/password. Now I think I need to include
the role information etc within the descriptors for the EJBs. I did this as
described in the DTDs but still nothing. Does anyone have a working secure
IIOP client running with SP3?
Thanks , Jeff

I'm wondering about the second last line with the error. Anyone have any
comments/thoughts?
Anyone else using SP3 with an IIOP client to a secure app?
Thanks, Jeff -
Has anyone tried to install IAS on a Pentium 4 with Windows 2000?. I
know that iPlanet does not support W2K but we have it running on P3s now
when we ignore the warning. The only difference is the chip. On the P4
the server will not load and I get the following errors:
- The application, httpd.exe generated and application error. The
error occurred (date and time). The exception generated was c0000005 at
address 500BF974.
- httpd.exe has generated errors and will be close by windows
- httpps4.0 failed. The error code is DWORD 0 of the record data.
ThanksI had the same problem a few weeks ago when installing iAS 6.0 SP2 on Win NT
4.0 running on P4 chip. The problem is caused by the JRE version 1.2.2-001
which is bundled with the iPlanet Enterprise Web Server version 4.11. You
need at least JRE version 1.2.2-007 due to a bug in Symantec JIT
(more info about the Java 2 update for P4 chips can be found at
http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.2/jre/download-windows.html)
I downloaded the latest Java 2 JRE (1.2.2-008) and replaced
<iPlanetWebServer>\bin\https\jre directory with the new version. After
rebooting the box http service came up fine. The rest of the iAS
installation went smoothly...

The exception thrown is :

I've set classpaths for the rich client in kjs and also in jvm12.conf of
IPS 3.0. But going by the rich client examples given with IAS, like the
converter client example, we have to set
a LD_LIBRARY_PATH as in runclient.sh. There is no place in IPS where we
can set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Is that the reason ?
I would appreciate your thoughts on this issue.
ThanksHi Aslam
You will use class maps to divert the traffic to the module. Here are some basic steps.
!Identify the traffic that needs to be diverted to the IPS SSP.
access-list IPS permit ip any any
!Classify the traffic using a class map.
class-map IPS
match access-list IPS
!Specify the action to be taken on the traffic using a policy map. !Since there is already a policy map attached globally in the FW, !the class-map defined above will be added here !only.
policy-map global_policy
class IPS
ips promiscuous fail-close (or fail-open)
Once that is done, the rest of the configuration needs to be done on the IPS using CLI or preferrably the IDM.
HTH. Please rate if useful.

Deleting Mac Combo Update 10.2.8?
I upgraded my Clamshell yesterday to 10.3 with disks from AppleRescue. I also put it an Airport card, realizing I'll need to d'load the 10.3.9 update to have full use of Panther; having dial-up makes these large d'loads impossible. My question is whe
