You should be able to call the iPad using your Apple ID from the iPhone. When calling from iPad use the iPhone's phone number to initiate the call.

I think the title says it all really. I am looking to buy my brother in the UK an ipod touch so we can have a good chat via facetime as I find it better than Skype BUT I want to have the conversation on the tv rather than all the family trying to cram around an ipod touch or the ipad. I avidly use facetime DAILY and for about 3-4 days now, whenever I try and send or receive facetime request it hangs up immediately without ever picking up. For purchasing from the iTunes and App stores, you will probably want to share the same Apple ID. But for other services such as iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud, you should use separate IDs. For example, if you use the same ID for iMessage you'll start getting each other's text messages. If you use the same ID for FaceTime you may get each other's FaceTime calls. If you set up the same iCloud account with the same ID, and data you sync with the account will be merged and the merged data will appear on all devices (i.e., you'll end up with each other's contacts and calendar events). You would also be sharing the same 5GB of free iCloud storage rather than each having your own 5GB of space.

It sounds like you are trying to make a call with FaceTime, it never finishes connecting to the person you are trying to reach. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps from this article named:

If you encounter issues making or receiving FaceTime calls, try the following:

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

I just wanted to follow this up by saying that you were entirely correct in your diagnosis of the situation. My computer did have the faulty part you linked to. I brought my laptop in and specifically told them to run that test, had it fail and then argued with the person at the genius bar and the manager. Eventually they offered to have it sent out and have everything replaced for free of charge. They did so mainly because I had complained about graphical issues almost every other time I had come in with problems and no one ran the test. They should have caught this problem during my warranty, but they didn't, even though I mentioned the problem.
Anyhow, after having the part replaced, I haven't had my computer crash a single time since, or had many of the issues mentioned above. I've never had this experience before. Even brand new, I got occasional crashes. Hopefully this new trend continues.
I do find that web browsing is still incredibly slow. Web browsers just chug along at a slow pace, even though I have great internet speed. Maybe I'll try just deleting my web browsers and reinstalling them...

My FaceTime has worked fine for years, but as of yesterday (4/16/14), when I try to FaceTime my girlfriend, it connects; however, ends up saying the call was missed even though we both answer. Our iMessage works, and facetime has worked until yesterday. She has an iPhone 4S, I have a 5S, yet there has never been a problem in the past.

We have 2 iphone 5 running ios 6.1.4 as of 4-16-2014 neither of them could facetime anyone. We also have a 4th gen ipod touch that was running 6.1.5 that also could not facetime anything. After reading a bunch of posts here, I updated the ipod to 6.1.6 and it could now facetime our friends and family, but could not facetime either of our phones. Looks like apple might be forcing us to update to ios7 if we want to facetime.

You might just have to contact Apple and ask them to remove it (losing it). Usually people clear a balance by buying one song and having the exact remainder charged to their credit card, but if you don't have a US credit card you cannot do that.

You can connect the iPad to your Mac's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, that should copy it over to the Movies part of your library.
Depending upon what country that you are in, and whether the film studio allows it, you might also be able to re-download it on your Mac via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page.
