  • Forms 6i and developer 10g on the same machine

    Can i have forms 6i and developer 10g on the same machine

    Jacob,
    Were you installing any patches to the Forms 6i?? I think your problem was a mix up in the environmental variables.
    multiple versions of the same Oracle product CAN* be installed successfully on the same machine, it has been done by many.
    Do not generalize one experience, since you are working on VMware, try them on one, it's easy to revert to a snapshot ;)
    Install Forms 6i first patch it configure it and restart your machine and install DS 10g, On this machine I have Forms 6i and DS 10g installed at this same moment, and it's been working fine for that last 2 years.

  • Develoer 2000 and developer suit 10g

    hello:
    i am new to oracle what i want to ask is that
    how developer 2000 and developer suit 10 g are different from each other.
    when developer suit 10g was realesed
    thanks

    Developer Suite 10g has newer version of the products with new features.
    And by the way if you are specifically looking for JDeveloper then the 10.1.3 version that you can download stand-alone from OTN is even newer.

  • IAS 10g rel 2 BI and Forms services

    I have the IAS 10g rel 2 infrastructure on a RH v3 server and, as we need Discoverer, plan on installing BI on the same server. We also need Forms and Reports services as well.
    As I don't see Forms services in BI (although the documentation says it is) the following questions arise:
    - If I install BI without Reports services, is it possible to install Forms and Reports services from the stand-a-lone version into the BI $OH? Or, would it require another separate $OH for the Forms and Reports services?
    - If I install BI with Reports services, is it possible to install just the Forms services into the BI $OH? Or, again, is a separate $OH required for just the Forms services?
    Your responses are much appreciated!!

    There are three installation types that are pertinent to this question:
    From Oracle Application Server 10g CDs, you can install BI and Forms Services and configure Discoverer, Reports, Forms (and even Portal). This has dependency on Infrastructure.
    From Forms and Reports Services CDs, you can install Forms and Reports (in a seperate Oracle Home, never into BI and Forms install O_H). This has no dependency on Infrastructure.
    From BI Cds, you can install Discoverer and Reports with no Infra dependency. It has to be in its own Oracle Home only.
    So if your need is to run Discoverer, Reports, Forms in one Oracle Home but have no infrastructure dependency, it is not possible.

  • Response.sendRedirect doesn't work with IAS 10g

    Hello,
    I'm moving my application to JDK 1.4 and IAS 10g.
    It's alright, but I noticed one problem.
    For long operation I created my way to display my "Working in progress..." page.
    I create an HTML file into a cache folder and I redirect to that file that reload itself every five seconds.
    Once the operation is terminated it change a session variable that is loaded by the HTML page and it ends the "Working in progress..." message.
    The problem is that in IAS 10g it doesn't redirect to the HTML file immediately, it seems that "wait" the operation is almost finished: il redirect to the HTML file, and after 5 seconds it loads the end message of the operation.
    This is the part of the code:
    [WRITE FILE IN c:\application\tools\template\cache as tempxyz.html]
    String urlToLoad = "/myApp/tools/template/cache/tempxyz.html";
    response.sendRedirect(urlToLoad);
    [OPERATIONS]
    [CHANGE SESSION VALUE]
    -END-
    The "response.sendRedirect(urlToLoad);" instruction pass without errors.
    I hope I explained my situation.
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
    EP

    Thanks Qiang,
    Ive done exactly as youve said and it must be a rewriting problem as you suggested. Here is the header from accessing the servlet on the Linux host machine (IP 192.168.5.121 called 'BEAST')
    --10:12:27-- http://192.168.5.121:7780/webapp/test

    4 Content-Length: 183

    7 Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=100

    Location: http://BEAST:7779/webapp/testJ.jsp [following]
    --10:12:27-- http://beast:7779/webapp/testJ.jsp
    => `testJ.jsp.3'
    Resolving beast... done.
    Connecting to beast[127.0.0.1]:7779... connected.
    That worked fine. Here is the header on my windows machine on the network ( IP 192.168.5.120) :
    HTTP/1.1 302 Moved Temporarily
    Date: Wed, 11 May 2005 09:03:21 GMT
    Server: Oracle-Application-Server-10g/10.1.2.0.0 Oracle-HTTP-Server
    Content-Length: 183
    Cache-Control: private
    Location: http://BEAST:7779/webapp/testJ.jsp
    Keep-Alive: timeout=15, max=100
    Connection: Keep-Alive
    Content-Type: application/octet-stream
    I think the problem must be that the response is telling it to redirect to BEAST (which is the name of the server) but the windows box cant resolve the name. Must be why i get the page cannot be displayed.
    The code in the servlet 'test' to redirect is just:
    response.sendRedirect("testJ.jsp");
    Any ideas would be much appreciated on how I can fix this other than setting up a local DNS server?!
    Cheers,
    Rob.

  • Oracle Application Server 10g Forms and Reports Services

    Hi there,
    I want to install Oracle Application Server 10g Forms and Reports Services. What must I download? The installation guide says that "Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4) Forms and Reports Services allows you to install and configure Forms and Reports Services without the need to install and configure all of Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4)" but it does not clearly state what exactly to download.

  • Get Client IP working in IAS 10g

    Hello,
    I need obtain the request ip of client machine. I am working with JSP on IAS 10g.
    using request.getRemoteAddr() function, but it send me the server ip address not the client ip.
    someone can help me?
    Jo

    Hi Jo,
    The getRemoteAddr() method returns the IP Address of the System that called the resource. If a request is made to a servlet / JSP, the request is routed to OC4J and the reuqest is analyzed by OC4J - thus, the IP address seen by OC4J belongs to the HTTP Server and not the client/
    You can have a look at Metalink Note:189317.1 :- Subject: getremoteaddr Returns Wrong IP Address With mod_oroxy and OC4J. You might find the workaround suggested in this note useful.

  • BIB-14820 Calling BI Beans JSP deployed to iAS 10g

    Hello,
    I have deployed a jsp-bi beans application to iAS 10g Release 2.
    When I try to access the jsp page I get this error:
    javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: BIB-14122: The specified StorageManager could not be created.
    BIB-14820 The root path does not exists.
    Is there something that needs to be set up so that my xml config file for bi beans connection
    can be accessed properly?
    This jsp works from jdeveloper.
    The .xml file with the bi beans connection configuration has a root path that I am pretty sure
    needs to be changed. How do I change that (my application is not based on OLAP and does not contain a BI Designer object) ? And what does it need to be changed to in order to work from my iAS?
    Thanks in advance.

    There are three scripts provided with BI Beans for managing the catalogue:
    AddGroup.sql
    AddUser.sql
    AddUsertoGroup.sql
    Once you have created the catalog owner and installed the catalog then from SQLPlus execute the above commands as required. Each script prompts you for any arguments it requires. This will allow you to authorise users and setup groups to manage privileges within the catalog.
    The scripts can be found in $ORACLE_JDEV_HOME/bibeans/bin
    You can check the status of the items within the catalog via the Catalog Viewer within the JDev BIBeans project, the option is on the BIDesigner object (I think) which should launch a GUI catalog viewer.
    Hope this helps

  • 10g, JServ and XDK

    I just installed Oracle 10g along with the 10g companion CD for HTTP (Apache) service.
    I want to utilize the XDK components (the XSQL Servlet), but I need to modify jserv.properties file. Can't seem to find it.
    Is JServ only available via Oracle Oracle Application Server?

    Open your Apache httpd.conf file, and search for "jserv.conf"... You should find a commented line in the httpd conf file which includes referance to the jserv.conf file, remove this comment and restart your server OR...
    if you do not find any line in there... find the file jserv.conf in your IAS 10g install directory and include this filename with complete path in the httpd.conf file... and restart your IAS server....
    This should start the Jserv within the IAS framework...

  • Portability between Designer 9i r2 and Designer 10g r2, and deployment?

    I have some questions to ask...
    I have been given the job of adding Oracle to the reportoire of databases available to be used for a commercial Delphi application. The idea is to create a database in 10g that this application can talk to.
    I wish to develop the database, constraints and triggers etc using Oracle Designer (not because I think it's best, but simply I know how to use it, and don't know JDeveloper yet, and time is of the essence).
    Here's where the problem lies: The last application I developed was on 9i r2 and was going to a 9i r2 platform, and I generated DDL for the database tables stuff, and also for the table API, ending up with two sets of script files to run on the target system. Two of the lines of code in the table API script were:
    @ C:\oracle\9iDSHome\cgens72\sql\cdsaper.PKS
    @ C:\oracle\9iDSHome\cgens72\sql\cdsaper.PKB
    Of course the pathnames weren't right, but when I fixed them I managed to get the system installed correctly. However the clients for the application I am working on now should not have to have developer installed... I want them to be able to just run the script files into a 10g database and not worry about designer/developer at all.
    The other issue is just as serious. Although clients shouldn't have to have designer installed, I want the application developer/company owner to be able to fiddle with the designer if he wants to. I have 9i where I work, and he will have 10g. Will I be able to do a repository export/dump from my 9i r2 and import it to his 10g r2? With the previous project I did, I couldn't even import the designer export from my 9i r2 to the 9i r2 at the workplace... it said "Incorrect header file" - it was lucky I had the DDL script files or I would never have got it in the database at all! If they had had a different version of oracle then I don't know what would have happened when trying to run those package files from developer (the comments say something about an error package or some such)!
    Eventually I'm going to upgrade to 10g for database development but I don't want to just yet.
    So my questions are:
    1. Can I develop the system using 9i r2 DB and 9i r2 DS and then create DDL scripts to be run on 10g client databases without having to have developer installed on the client machines? could my "boss" distribute those two developer package files with the DDL scripts to the clients without breaking some kind of copyright?
    2. Will I be able to import a Designer 9i r2 export into a Designer 10g r2 repository for my "boss" to make adjustments and produce refined DDL scripts himself later on?
    If the only thing holding me back is having 10g installed where I work then tell me now and I'll take the plunge. If there's other issues I need to find a way around them.
    I thank you in advance for any advice you can give
    Thanks
    Adam Sawyer

    Hi,
    This issue has been reported with Designer Releases prior to 9.0.4.4 against 10g database.
    Please upgrade to the latest Designer Release 9.0.4.5 the import will work fine.
    HTH,
    Wilson.

  • Oracle 10g - architechture and compatibility

    I want to know that
    - Whether Oracle 10g support 2 tier Architecture Or it is strictly for 3 tier.
    - If it doesn’t support 2 tier then, is Oracle 9i is the latest version for 2 tier system.
    - If Oracle 10g supports 2 tier then ,Is Developer 200 version 5.6 is compatible with Oracle 10g. ?
    Please response my query, as I have to take some urgent decisions based on this asap.

    If Oracle 10g means Database server 10g, then it's independent from Client Architecture ( 2 or 3 tiers refers to Client Architecture), you can use the same DB with both architectures simultaneously.
    Is Developer 200 version 5.6 is compatible with Oracle 10g. ?
    In Metalink Note:207303.1 you can see the official Client / Server / Interoperability support between different Oracle versions, but I have to say that I've already used unsupported combinations, e.g. 8.0.6 Client with 10g DB, and they may work, so the best thing would be to try.....

  • Problem to connect between Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 at Vista sp2

    Introduction
    Hi guys, good day... NEED RESCUE!! SOS!! Hmm.. i have trouble been 1 weeks trying connect between Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 on window vista sp2. Actaully im very new at Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 but i got a project is going to build up system database and i figure out Oracle 10g xe and VB2010 can use free so i just chows these appication to be my project. I been search around internet and there is several things i was found about the connection but i has try and tried still it wont work out.
    Things i found and learned
    Oracle
    1. I have download Oracle 10g XE and installed in my windows vista sp2.
    2. I notice the Oracle Developer Tools is needed for VB2010 (To add reference 'Oracle.DataAccess'). So i was downloaded ODT11beta and installed
    3. I also edit TNSNAMES to following below:
    OraDb =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = shin-PC)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
    4. My sqlnet like following below:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)
    5.I have try tnsping OraDB and its works.
    6. I monitoring task manager and OracleServicesXE is running.
    7. ora_dba is added in Group.
    Problem in SQLPLUS
    When i try connect SQLPLUS in cmd i get ERROR: ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error.
    i . In cmd i type sqlplus and enter then i been ask for username and password.
    ii. After i insert my username and password and enter then i get the error of ORA-12560.
    Visual Basic 2010
    1. First i created my project, drawing label and button for test connection.
    2. Then, i add reference Oracle.DataAccess into my project.
    3. I type following script into my vb form:
    Imports System.Data
    Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Client
    Imports Oracle.DataAccess.Types
    Public Class Logon
    Private Sub cmdLogon_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdLogon.Click
    Dim oradb As String = "Data Source = OraDb; User Id = system; Password = shin;"
    Dim conn As New OracleConnection(oradb)
    conn.Open()
    Dim cmd As New OracleCommand
    cmd.Connection = conn
    cmd.CommandText = "select SName from Staff where SName = shin"
    cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text
    Dim dr As OracleDataReader = cmd.ExecuteReader()
    dr.Read()
    lblOra.Text = dr.Item("SName")
    conn.Dispose()
    End Sub
    End Class
    Problem in VB2010
    When i run my project and press the button i get error message ORA-12514: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified at conn.Open()
    Extra Question*
    1. Im notice in my netbook xp home sp2, before i install ODT11beta my sqlplus look fine thought cmd but after i installed ODT11beta its same problem with my Vista sp2 now. Get error ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error :( I tried uninstall ODT11beta again and restart its work fine again. Which i really dun understand. Izzit the version ODT11 is not suitable for 10g xe? And i dunno this problem is related with my connection between oracle 10g xe and vb2010 or not. So confuse@@
    2. I wish to know more about connect between Oracle and VB, is there still a things i miss?(I mean steps or configuration that should i done)
    3. Or i just lower my VB version could make more easy? If yes, what version VB should i use that could work out with oracle 10g xe?
    4. Sorry for too bad my english but i really wish somebody could help me. Please try to understand my written or you could ask me mean if dont understand. Im stuck!! Stuck feel not really that good.....

    Izzit ok? I notice there is no listed OraDb. but tnsping OraDb seem fine.
