IAS 10g R2 on Windows 32 bit & on 64 bit environment

Hi ,
Can you please confirm whether IAS 10g R2 on Windows 32 bit will work on the 64 bit environment with the same performance?
I’m really wonder why Oracle is not releasing 64 bit windows media pack since now almost all the servers are on 64 bit architecture.
And please confirm whether we can download 64 bit windows media pack from OTN?
Regards,
Noman

This is a WebLogic AS forum, no Oracle AS. If you are using WL let us know, if not and you are using Oracle AS then you should post this question there. Hope it helps....

  • Oracle gateway for Oracle 10g DB on Windows 64 bit server

Is there any place that I can find Oracle dateway for Oracle 10g DB on Windows 64 bit server? I can only find Gateway for Oracle 11g on Windows 32 bit server. Please help me to identify this. Thanks.

    yingkuan:
Thanks a lot. The link tells the details. It seems that Oracle has not release Gateway for Oracle database 10.2.0.x on Windows 64 bit server. Probably they don't do it.
So under this circumstance, if I want to install Gateway (32 bit) on Oracle 10.2.0.3 DB on Windows 64 bit server for Teradata, I probably have to install Gateway software in another Oracle Home, then configure it right. Please give more advice on this. 32 bit Gateway will work for 64 bit database?

    According to
ID 757245.1 Can you Upgrade RDBMS and Convert From 32-bit to 64-bit Binaries Directly on Linux or Windows based Intel Platforms Using the Database Upgrade Assistant (DBUA)oracle does not support upgrading and changing the wordsize at the same time. A workaround is to upgrade it on the same platform and then move it to the new oS and change wordisize.

  • Migration from Windows(32 bit) Oracle 9i db to Linux(X86-64 bit) Oracle 10g

    Hi,
We are planing to Migrate our Oracle 9.2.0.6 version database from Windows(32 bit) to Oracle 10.2.0.1 version database on Linux(64 bit). Can I directly do the Migration using export/import? or What is the procedure to do this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

The directory structure is different...that's why you need to create the tablespaces in Linux. e.g. export dump says create tablespace in D:\..., there is no such thing in Linux. You can just export it, install software, create the db, tablespaces in Linux and import into the 10g in Linux.

Which version of oracle have you installed?According to the dcoumentation,
Do not install Oracle Database on Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 using the media for Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Microsoft Windows. Do not use the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista or the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 media to install on operating systems other than Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.
Oracle Database is supported on Windows Vista with the 10.2.0.3 release. If you used the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista media, then Oracle recommends that you install the 10.2.0.4 patch set. You do not need to use the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 media.
For new installations on Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, use the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 media. This new software is available in the updated media pack

  • HTTP Server for Windows 64 bit not on the companion CD

    Hi,
I cannot find the HTTP Server for Windows 64 bit on the companion CD. Any idea where I can get it from? For the 32bit version the HTTP Server is on the Companion CD.
    Thanks in advance,

If i am correct reason should be : Oracle Application Server 10g will run as a 32-bit application
Following platforms have the same media in either case:
    Microsoft Windows 32-bit and EM64T/AMD64
(Not Itanium-64, which is separate and referred to as "Windows 64-bit")
    Linux x86 and Linux x86-64
Solaris Sparc 32-bit and Solaris Sparc 64-bit
As the Oracle Application Server 10g will be run as a 32-bit application. See the Installation Guide or readme files for any specific steps on these 64-bit platforms.

Basically use for internal web server only. I'm not sure can I use Oracle weblogic 11g instead of OracleAS 10g R2. I'll use some of the components like Oracle HTTP Server, Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE(OC4J), Reports Services, Forms Services, Metadata Repository for Oracle Application Server Middle-Tier and etc.

  • Corrupt Data1.cab in Oracle Express 10g Universal  for Windows

    Hello Oracle Folks,
I downloaded several times Oracle Express 10g Universal for Windows (OracleXEUniv.exe) and tried to install it and I get every time the same error message: "Error 1335. The required file "Data1.cab" is corrupt and cannot be used ...". When I download the Western European Edition (OracleXE.exe) the installation works! I downloaded the file on different local disks to exclude the risk that my disk is damaged.
Can you please check if this download is sane!
Thanks and best regards Thomas Mayr

    Amazing reply Hans.
I have seen some arrogent smart mouth answers in my time. But this really takes the cake. Also judging from the icon you are some kind of employee of oracle. Wow! Now that shows respect for your users.
Sorry to disappoint you - I am not an employee of Oracle. Much of your rant is irrelevant.
I am simply a person who has volunteered enough time to provide over 8,000 repsonses in these forums and many more in other forums.
Many, many, many of the questions are pure repetition due to the extreme laziness, incompetence or inability to do basic thinking by the questioners. There are also a lot of questions by 'newbies' who have obviously made an attempt to research the problem.
My approach to answering questions is simple and two-fold:
    - make the person angry enough, or aware ennough, that they will think a bit when asking the next question;
    - if they ask a question intelligently (http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html) I usually am convinced to help.
(And yes, I do take longer breaks when I find myself being frustrated enough to provide answers like the above.)
The stupid installation program for your stupid database was supposed to check the version of the Operating System. Anyway how does the operating system version matter if a cab file is corrupted? which was incidently packed in that stupid download link which you have happily given to all customers all this time. I was hoping to find that since you guys are too lazy to make the installation file properly you might have atleast bothered to put up a download link for that stupid Data1.cab. But nooo... The 'stupid installation program' is indeed that - a stupid installation program. It does a certain amount of checking, but definitely not enough. In that I do agree with you. It was also released too early - basrely understands how to spell Vista.
Also, there is an assumption by Oracle that the person downloading reads the documentation, especially the installation guide, that is available at the same location as the download. It is amazing and extremely disappointing to note how many people will not even attempt to look at the link.
The real sad part for me is that I frequently download software (and did again in this case) to verify that the user has a legitimate complaint. The 'data1.cab' that I received was not corrupt. Therefore I conclude the original poster made some huge assumption that is likely invalid. Now, I did install into an XP machine, and that could make a difference.
As for the 'you guys' statement - perhaps you should take that up with Oracle or an Oracle employee. Directing at me is an unsubstantiated assumption on your part. <g>
    >
I wasted some time thinking I would check out the db for development, got the same error and after seeing your mealy mouthed response to that poor guy who was asking a valid question, I think I won't bother anymore. You see, there is this amazing thing called Linux and MySQL..
Yup. You could easily go there. Shows yet another assumption. (In fact, my company is centered around Linux and Oracle. And I have made a conscious decision, based on 3 decades of experience, to toss MySQL and stick with Oracle. And now that Sun, which owns MySQL, seems to be on the auction block, the future of MySQL is definitely up in the air.)
However, given how many assumptions you make and how valid they are, you may find it easier to stick with MySQL. Oracle Express edition potentially could save huge buckets of time and effort in the long run, but it does require reading, research and other skills to get up to speed.
    Now, as to your problem
    1) This is not the forum to discuss issues with installation. (If the problem is traced to the download source, then this is the right spot.)
    2) There is a dedicated forum for Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Express Edition (Oracle Database Express Edition (XE)
    3) You are absolutely correct that the installer should be smart enough to check the OS. It does not.
    4) Since it does not, and since there are differences, knowing which version AND edition of Windows (or which Linux distro and release) is critical to troubleshooting.

  • Install Oracle Forms 10g R2 in Windows 7

    Hi,
does anyone has ever succeeded to install Oracle Form 10g R2 in Windows 7 Home Premium?
How to overcome the Jinit issue in there? Friend of mine suggested we can download the Jinit for Vista version and replace the current Jinit with it.
Do I need to change anything too in Formsweb.cfg? Windows 7 works with IE 8.
Is the Forms can work with Oracle 11g R1 client 64 bit for Windows?
    thanks in advance.

Why bother with JInit? It's long desupported. Just replace it with the latest Java Plugin, and you'll be fine.

  • Issues using 11.1.1.7.0 demo material on Windows 64 bit env

I use ODI 10g - so downloaded 11gR1 version 11.1.1.7.0 and worked through demo to find out more about 11g functionality.  I installed 11gR1 on Windows 7.   I have found an issue with the SRC_SALES_PERSON datastore in the "Parameters - FILE" folder under Models.  When I right click this datastore and choose "View Data" - I see that this datastore contains no rows, it is empty.  The other datastore in this folder (SRC_AGE_GROUP) looks good i.e. I can view its data.
I checked the source file "SRC_SALES_PERSON.txt".  There appears to be an issue with it.  The first field in the file (SALES_PERS_ID) is actually 11 characters long - and not 10 characters as per the data store definition.  This means that the start value for the remaining 3 fields in out by 1.
Also date format for HIRE_DATE appears to be incorrect.  The date format is defined as "dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm:ss" - however I think it should be "dd/MM/yyyy HH:mm:ss".  I read that ODI manages dates using the java format.  In java format hh represents hour in format 1-12.  Actual data contains 00 in hour field.  The java format HH represents hour in format 0-23.
I copied the original SRC_SALES_PERSON datastore and made the above changes - I can now view the file data correctly in ODI.
Has anybody else tried the 11gR1 demo on windows 64 bit and noticed issues with the demo relating to SRC_SALES_PERSON datastore

    Hi Lex,
you cannot use the SAP DB (=old name of SAP MaxDB) package you found on the old SAP DB site for your PI installation for various reasons:
    a) SAP DB version 7.4 is VERY old, it is no longer supported since the end of 2006 !
    b) typically, a SAP application and its DBMS are installed using SAPinst
Try checking the SAP Software Distribution Center (incl. PAM: Product Availability Matrix) on the SAP Support Portal. You can also get the correct software there (when you're an official SAP customer).

  • Need to download oracle 11.1.0.7 for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)

    Hi all,
I am using Repository Creation Utility (RCU) to create schema and load repository in Oracle database for Fusion Middleware components. In order to create schema and load repository to an Oracle database,Oracle strongly recommends using AL32UTF8 as the database character set.
Hence I need to install database version 10.2.0.4.0 in 10g or version equal to higher than 11.1.0.7.0 with the database character set AL32UTF8. But the Oracle Database Software Download url available through OTN do not list
oracle 10.2.0.4.0 or oracle 11.1.0.7 for Microsoft Windows (32-bit).
Appreciate if anyone can provide me any other alternate location, from where I can download oracle 10.2.0.4.0 or oracle 11.1.0.7 for Microsoft Windows (32-bit).
    Thanks
    Sanil.M

10.2.0.4 and 11.1.0.7 are patchsets, available on MOS/metalink only (you need a valid support contract). There's only the exception for Windows 2008,here you can get this versions on OTN.
But who did you tell characterset AL32UTF8 is not available in the basis versions?
