IAS Cloning

We are cloning development portal env from Production environment (10gr2)
There is also OID to AD synchronization.
Production is on seperate domain and test env is on seperate domain.
OID and AD is seperate for both the domains
After cloning oid and portal we are unable to synchronize oid with AD.
Anybody faced such issues

did u get ant answer for this issue?

did u check all the pre-requisites on the clone server before cloning. Please post contents of logfile here.

Cloning Suport on Oracle 10.1.2

I'm trying to clone an Oracle iAS 10.1.2.
My Oracle iAS enviroment don't have any clone dir. So, I downloaded the patch for linux Platform to add the cloning support files in the enviroment.
When I try to apply the patch I get this error:
MISSING_COMPONENT : oracle.sysman.common, 10.1.0.2.0 (found a component with higher version)
So I have two questions on cloning:
This p3734924_10102_GENERIC.zip is the correct patch to include clone support on Oracle iAS 10.1.2 ?
How can I add the cloning support files on my Oracle iAS 10.1.2 ?

I'm having the same problem. It doesn't matter whether the report has an image or not. It crashes intermittently....!
O/S : Windows 2003
Application Server : 10.1.2.0.2
Database: 10g Rel.2
I don't think its load issue.....! Once in a while randomly reports server will time out and crashes:
Ex:Terminated with error: REP-56109: Job 2738 is terminated due to connection timeout
If I don't set the TimeOut Parameter it will hang the server......!
I think its a bug in ORacle Reports...! We started to have this problem since 10g Rel 1 and carried to Release 2.
I never had this problem before 10g. I tried making all kinds of changes but no luck......!

Cloning EBS 11i from RHEL4.6 to OEL5.6

I succeeded cloning in the dbTier.
But in the appsTier I got this error:

Yes, I got it going that step and i was struck in perl adcfgclone.pl appsTier.

But the LASRX database is up and running and listener port is 1525 and listener is running.

Getting error when cloning 11.5.9 from PROD to DEV:
ERROR: OUI files not found at their expected location. Please make sure that the pre-requisit OUI patch was applied correctly: patch should be unzipped directly at the ORACLE_HOME root level so that
<iAS ORACLE_HOME>/oui21/oui/lib/OraInstaller.jar exists.
Restart adclone.pl after performing required corrections.
I applied the patch 5035661 also but still the error exists.
Please let me know the fix.

Cloning EBS 11i AIX 5L

Hi Friends,
I am cloning EBS 11i AIX 5L on the same server.
Currently we have EBS 11i PROD on the server, @user oracle.
I want to clone it to EBS 11i TEST on the same server, @user oracle2.
Things I did:
1. run autoconfig
2. run preclone programs
3. copy appl and db file to new location for user oracle2.
4. run cloning at user oracle2.
But I got the following error:

Migrate INFRA and iAS to new servers

We are in the process of moving our services to a new location. The process to migrate the DB and APPS server is pretty straight forward with cloning. From different things I have read there are options to clone the iAS(MIDT) as well but what I can't seem to find is anything on moving and/or cloing the INFRA server. Do you just install new for that or is there a method or best practice for doing this? Thanks in advance.

You may have to stage a new server, meaning, install another one and move data and objects that you can move.

Cloning Error Part 12

I been unluckly today :( , I did a lot of cloning and re-cloning but I still hits weird errors.
I clone our PROD instance to DEV instance to test some patch and fuctional data update proces
I successfully cloned the intance and started all server processes with status “0”.
When I login to the webpage , I got “ internal server error”.

Actually this what happened ( actual scenario)
1. We had PROD instance (on PROD server)
2. We clone it on the DEV instance (on DEV server), a separate server.
3. We got issue, and need to apply PATCH-A
4. We apply PATCH-A on DEV at in was successful.
5. Then apply PATCH-A on PROD and in was successful.
6. ....Note...that I did not run any preclone after the patch, because I am not aware that it must be done.
7. We perform PROD backup daily at midnyt (cold backup)...so we have DAY 1 backup (after the patch)
8. Day2 Backup....and so on.
9. Now, here comes a time that we need the transaction for testing from Day1 backup.
10. So I copied the Day1 Backup (apps and DB tiers) on DEV server and perform and run postclone.
11. But the error I mentioned above appeared, my suspesion is that I did not run preclone after the patch.
12. My question is...HOw can I run preclone to a backup? to its original state?
Or how can I restore a backup of PROD to DEV server without running postclone?
What I mean is just start it up on DEV to its original state like its source on PROD server?
13. I can not restore it in PROD because the current prod is there.

Advaced Cloning using Application Manager

Hello All,
I am doing advanced cloning of Oracle Apps instance 11.5.10.2 on Linux R-4.
I am using Application Manger (web based) utility.
I am through with "Task 1: Establish Cloning Parameters"
but now I am stuck at "Task 2: Prepare the Source System"
Following are detail which i can see for Task 2.
Database Tier
Execute the following commands to prepare the source system database tier for cloning:
Host apps
Log on to host apps as the oravis user and type the following commands:
cd /home/oravis/visdb/9.2.0/appsutil/scripts/VIS_apps
perl adpreclone.pl pwd=<apps-pwd> jobid=2_VIS
Application Tier
Click the "Prepare Source System" button to begin source system preparation on the Application tier.
You must prepare the source system Database tier before preparing the Application tier.

Cloning and s_hostname

We have used the cloning product for years, and it is great! Our 11.5.9 environment consists of two nodes - Web/Forms on W2000, and everything else on HPUX. When we run the adcfgclone.pl script on the HPUX apps tier, the clone completes successfully, but the autocfg.sh fails. We always have to edit one file, then re-run autocfg.sh, and it works fine.
The file that we have to amend is the Path.pm file, located in:
..testora/iAS/Apache/Perl/lib/5.00503/file/Path.pm
There are two spots in this file that have this syntax: "...$%s_hostname%..."
We have to replace the %s_hostname% with the name of the server, then re-run autocfg.sh, and everything is fine.
Has anybody run across this similar issue? I must note that when we clone on the HPUX end - we are cloning onto the same HPUX server.

I have never encountered this issue, and I did not find any Metalink document which could be relevant to this issue (maybe Oracle has logged this as an internal bug).

Cloning EBS 11i Bug

I have been cloning our EBS 11i for many times before at it was good. Lately I applied set of patches. Then what happened is every time I clone, I have to edit the http.conf
The patches have affected the public access of the system, in a way that it seems “disabling” the public IP access. This was caused by the patch updating the “httpd.conf” file.
HTTPD.conf is a server configuration file which typically contains directives that affect how the server runs, such as user and group IDs it should use, and location of other files. Because the server configuration file is the main file that the server starts with, Oracle HTTP Server does not include any directive that says where to locate it. The location is passed on command line when the server starts.
This file is located at:
TRNG
/uo1/oracle/oatrngora/iAS/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf
PROD
/u02/oracle/oaprodora/iAS/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf
To resolve the public IP access problem, edit the httpd.conf file and find the following lines:

The above patches were test applied at the test sever OATRNG, and after checking that it solved the issues it was then carried out to the Production (PROD)
