IAS Infrastructure and BI on one machine

Hi All,
I have installed 9iAS Infrastructure and Busniess Intelligence and Forms on the same machine with different homes.
I then started all components of infrastructure and all components of BI & Forms, through the web based interface.
Now I want to run the test form for demo, but it says "page not found". I looked into url, it asks for servlet i.e. f90servlet. But in my case, theres no f90servlet in any of oracle home. What should I do ?

Now I am stuck at another place :-(
I installed the DB, patched it to 10.2.0.3. Then installed Metadata Repository Assistant. Now when I run repca, it asks for the Internet Directory Hostname and port number. Till this time, I haven't installed the Internet directory as it is part of Identity management. Repca doesn't allow me to leave this information blank as it tries to communicate with the given host.
Please help again.

For NT here are the steps.
First you install 817 database say in home orahome1. Your database should be up and runningbefore insatlling iAS
See that you pagesize(swapfile) is >= 500MB
Then install iAS in a different home. iAs 10220 will list two homes (default is 806 and iSuites)
Give the required parameters when prompted.
If you give me more info as to which version of ias platform and what is your requirement then I can be more clear

OAS 10.1.2.3, changing the ip and domain on one machine

We are changing the ip and domain of the hardware (hostname remains the same). We have OAS 10.1.2.3 infra, metadata repository (created with MRCA), middle tier on one and the same machine on Aix 5300-10 (I know you are wondering at this). Middle tier is of the Business Intelligence and Forms type. I'm not sure of the procedure. Also the new metadata repository which has to be created, because changing the domain name of identity management with metadata repository according to administrator's guide is not supported, will be on the same machine.
Should I follow this procedure:
(1) Deregister the metadata repository from OID with MRCA.
(2) Change the domain dame and the ip of the identity management.
(3) Create a new metadata repository and register it with OID.
(4) Upgrade the metadata repository to 10.1.2.3.
(5) Install a new middle tier 10.1.0.2 to use the identity management which is on 10.1.2.3
(6) Upgrade the middle tier to 10.1.2.3.
Or is there a simpler supported way of changing the ip&domain when everything is all the time only on one machine. If not, is there something not mentioned here which should be taken into account when following the procedure above.

For midtier is script chgiphost.sh for infra this one doesn'w work cause only let you change IP I belive.
I think you can try to make a new installation backing up your users from ldap (SSO-OID) and import them to the new installation and try to re-assign the midtiers to the new infra.

Installing AS and Database on one machine

Hi all
I want to install Oracle Database 10.2.0.3 and Oracle AS 10.1.2.0.2 (Business Intelligence and Forms Developer Topology) on one linux machine (AS 4). I can install the database and the AS as suggested in the installation guides. But now my machine has 3 ORACLE_HOME, 2 physical databases with different SIDs. To start the services I have to startup both databases and their listeners :-(
What I want to do is to install DB 10.2.0.3 first and then the AS. Application server Infrastructure should use the already available and running database and should not create a new database. I think this will create a neater installation structure and will be easy to start/stop the service and machine.

What would cause a program to compile and run on one machine and not anothe

Ok, I have an rmi application that uses the ClassFileServer provided by sun as the codebase argument to the server class I use to bind a remote data object to the rmiregistry. On my machine all parts of the program work as expected. However, when I distribued my java source hierarchy and the text file containing the commands to run and execute it to three different machines, I received the infamous unmarshalling exception when the server tried to bind a remote data object. For the life of me, I can't figure out the root of this problem. I'm only distributing the source, no classes, and the commands entered to build and run the application are exactly the same. I've tried running this on different drives of my system and had no issues. I should also indicate that I tried setting the codebase=file:///classes/ instead of using the ClassFileSever and it still didn't work on these three other machines.
All of the machines are running java 1.4.2_0x.

Strange error you semms to have.
What about port 2001?
If your codebase is .....localhost:2001 then you are using port 2001 and not 1099.
Is 2001 open?
Does the machines on the other subnet (the ones that fails) try to contact a mchine on another subnet?
Ex.
Failing machine IP: 15.10.2.3
Other machine IP: 16.23.4.6
Then you might have a problem!
I don't know why but here at my work some have 15 as subnet and some has 16 as subnet and we can NOT ping or contect eachother computers.
Must be something in the firewalls that blocks it.

Problem with 10g and 9i in one machine

I installed 10g in a pc where 9i is already installed. It was installed in its own home directory. My problem is that when I try to access it using Enterprise Manager, or Sql*Plus, or Developer, I get either the service name could not be resolved, or cannot allocate a dedicated server. The service is up and running.
The curious thing is that I can access it with the command from a command window:
sqlplus
'scott/tiger@(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=CAC403JN.EBOT.CA)(PO
RT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(ORACLE_SID=ANEC)))'
Both the 9i and 10g have the same HOST and PORT but different SID.
How do I fix my configuration so I can access 10g using the using tools?

If you are using local naming (tnsnames.ora file) and you have multiple Oracle Homes, one of two things has to happen
1) Every TNS entry has to be duplicated in each tnsnames.ora file.
2) You need to create a TNS_ADMIN environment variables that points at the location of the single tnsnames.ora file that all applications should use.
My personal preference is to go with option 2.

Duplication problems loading 9i and 9iAS on one machine

On Windows 2000pro: ...installing enterprise version
If I install 9iAS on the same server, then many of the services get duplicated.
The machine is for demo purposes only.
I only want one copy of each service on the machine if possible.
Can I overwrite the current 9i orahome to achieve this?
Does anyone have a step by step install procedure to prevent duplicate installs
or remove them after installation?

IPhone AND iPod on one machine

Hi! I've searched around, but can't find the answer to this. I already have an 80 gb iPod, and I was going to get an iPhone today. Will I be able to sync my iPhone and keep using my iPod on the same machine (same iTunes account)?
I have 40gbs of music and stuff, and would prefer to only sync my pictures to my iPhone (and of course contacts, calendar, mail), but ALL my ipod stuff to the ipod...

the iPhone and iPod appear as separate devices on iTunes.
You choose what to sync your iPhone with on iTunes (music, pics, podcasts, videos). When you run iPhone on Itunes, it runs completely independent from the iPod.
Right now, I have both connected to my PB.

AS10gR2 + AS10R3 on one machine

I have installed AS10gR2 infrastructure, AS10gR2 middleware and AS10gR3 on one machine with Windows 2000.
So now I have 1 database instance, 3 opmns and 3 enterprise managers running, which consumes pretty much sources and it's quite slow.
Since I have only 1 AS license (per processor) but I need Reports, Portal as well as J2EE 1.4 compatible AS (ADF Faces applications), I am looking for some way how to lighten this configuration.
Any recommendation or links appreciated

Exe built on one machine won't work correctly on another.

Hello list!
I have two identical PC's. Both run Windows 2000. Both have two NIC cards, one on the motherboard, the other in physical PCI slot 3. The 2nd NIC on both machines is the same make & model. The NIC on the motherboard on each is configured for DHCP to talk to the company network. The other has a fixed I.P. address to talk to my Fieldpoint and instrumentation. The Fixed I.P. NIC of each PC is connected to a FP2010, an Keithley 2701 and a Tektronix TDS-3012. Both FP controllers have the same address, both DMMs have the same address and both scopes have the same address. Each PC has Labview 7 installed.
In short, all of the hardware is identical between the two installs.
My source code for my application is on the company network. My IAK file for the Fieldpoint is on the network, and the source code points to it's location. Both machines log into the network, but with different login names. Both machines are local admins of their logins. Both machines map the same network drives to the same drive letters.
If I run the source code (from the network) in either machine, it works fine and talks to all of the ethernet I/O just fine.
If I build an EXE in machine A and try to run that EXE in machine A, it works fine and talks to the ethernet I/O, but if I try to run that EXE in machine B, it will run but won't talk to the ethernet I/O .
If I build an EXE in machine B and try to run that EXE in machine B, it works fine and talks to the ethernet, but if I try to run that EXE in machine B, it will run fine but won't talk to the ethernet I/O .
The only thing different between the two machines is this minor configuration difference...
If you do a START->Settings->Network and Dialup Connections->Select the 2nd NIC, then Properties->Configure. In the "General" tab is the name of the card (3Com....), the "Device type" (Network Adapters), "Manufacturer" (3Com), and "Location:"
On one machine the "Location:" is PCI Slot 4 (PCI bus 1, device 13, function 0).
On the other machine, the "Location" is PCI Slot 5 (PCI bus 2, device 13, function 0).
I'm pretty sure this is the issue, but how do I fix it? Is there some way to get Labview to find the ethernet card no matter what PCI Slot or bus it's using? Is there something I should be including in the build that I'm missing?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

hmm, ok, sounds like a similar problem i once had with more than one NICs in my system. In my case the app searched for a device with a given IP address, but it wasn't found because the device was connected to the second NIC in the systems list of NICs and the first NIC gave a timo error.
You could try to connect both networks with a single NIC. You can set the NIC to default DHCP (automatically retrieve IP address from your company network) and give it an "Alternative network settings" (sorry, i have german Win, so i don't know the english expression). By doing so ONE single NIC can connect to TWO IP addresses from different sub-Networks (i know that this works with XP, don't know about Win2000).
Then there'll be no conflicts in the search orders (but be aware that one NIC has to handle all the traffic).

How do I properly transfer CS from one machine to another

I want to remove my apps and license from one machine and move to another. I uninstalled CC, but the apps are still on the machine and functioning? Will I be able to move to a new machine without trouble?

There might not be a need to depending on your preferences. You are allowed to have two working installations, so you could keep the original as a backup if you like. If not, then you need to sign out of the original thru the manager. As far as getting the software on a new machine, you need to install them using installation files the same way you installed originally... moving software from one machine to another does not work.

How to connect to an Oracle database on one machine from another client machine?

I installed oracle database 11g (server and client) on one machine. It works perfectly. Then I installed oracle client (ODTwithODAC1120320) in another machine. Now I want to connect to the database of the previous machine. I tried to connect but It failed. I think .ORA files should be configured. What should I do to fulfill this.

Mail on more than one machine

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion our mail is erratic, but also, because we have no secrets, my husband and I share the iMac and Macbook Pro. If mail is read and deleted on one machine, it deletes on the others. How do I switch this off as it's very annoying. Also it shows new mail is being 'collected' but it never appears.

You can't really turn it off as it's how an IMAP email account works and why (in most cases, anyway) it's the best way for managing email on multiple devices as it keeps everything in synch.
The solution is going to require some coordination between you and your husband with regard to when and which messages should be deleted.

Hi,
Yes you can install Oracle9iAS Infrastructure and Middletier on same m/c. However you need to install both of these in different oracle home and install infrastructure prior to middletier.
Regarding to your problem...
During middletier installation you will be prompted for infrastructure hostname and port number. Ensure that you enter just the 'hostname' and NOT 'http://host'
Also check that 'host' file on the server machine is updated. This file is located at C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc. You have to make entry for ip address and hostname in this file.
Another note: Oracle9iAS installation needs 'fully qualified hostname'. i.e. just 'myhost' won't work. try myhost.mycompany.com
Your host file entry will look like
80.81.82.83 myhost.mycompany.com
Refer to http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/install-faq.html for further details. especially point # 11 and 15

HT201250 Can I partition my external hard drive and use one partion for time machine and the other one for data that i may want to use in different computers?

I have this doubt. I've just bought an external drive, especifically a Seagate GoFlex Desk 3 tb.
I want to know if it is recomendable to make a partion exclusively for time machine and let another one so I can put there music, photos, videos, etc that I should need to use or copy to another computer.
May half and half, 1.5 tb for time machine and 1.5 tb for data.
I have an internal hard drive of 500 GB (499.25 GB) in my macbook pro.
Any recommendation?

As I said, yes. Be sure your Time Machine partition has at least 1 TB for backups.
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to two (2). Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
