IBase and Serial Number

Question

Hi All expert:
We are using IBase in CRM 5.0 alone. No downlaoding from ECC.
In this case, how can we maintain the serial number for IBase?
Any special configuration or development needs to be down?

Hi,
Set types are defined for use in product and object maintenance. A set type is only permitted for a product or individual object if it assigned to the category that you subsequently assign the product or individual object to. To assign a set type to a category, use the function Maintain Categories and Hierarchies(COMMPR01)
For any Individual object to be defined, it needs an object catgory. This object category need to be defined in <b>Maintain Categories and Hierarchies</b>.
Go to this transaction COMMPR01 and create an object category( Through 'New Category' Button) under R3PRODSTYP hierarchy (IF you have downloaded materials from R/3) or any other hierarchy. Enter the product type as 'Material' and object family that you have created in respective fields under category tab page. Now in set types tab page assign the set types that you created for the corresponding object family and save the category.
Also plese check attribute type(Integer) and Length before entering the serial number.
Now you check whether you are able to enter the serial number.
