IBM AIX power 6 on UCS servers

Hi,
There is a DC environment, hosted on IBM blade servers, they have different OS's, one of the OS's is IBM AIX Power 6 which is hosting an Oracle Database.
We would like to provide a DC recovery site using Cisco UCS servers, before doing so, I want to be certain  about below points:
IBM AIX power 6 compatibility with CISCO UCS servers?
If we decided to choose CISCO UCS blade servers, what are the limitations toward the virtaulization?
If we virtualize both environments, the current  DC and the new DR, what kind of limitations we may face in terms of virtuatization features?
Regards,
Karwan

 Please have a look at
http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/interoperability/matrix/r_hcl_B_rel2-21.pdf
Under OS support, you don't see any support for AIX !
Power 6 is the IBM hardware chip archtitecture; UCS is 100% based on Intel chip set.

    HI EBSDBA,
    Thanks .There was no /etc/oraInst.loc.
Saw you also faced similar issue long back ,can you pls let me know is that problem with media or something else..
-RajFirst please create oraInst.loc in /etc as per "verify oraInst.loc" in
Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 [ID 798258.1]
    Also, please see
How to fix Incorrect Soft Links And Oracle_home In 10.1.2 & 10.1.3 Homes [ID 849821.1].
You must also do md5sum checksum for the installation media you have.
The problem could be with media and also with oraInst.loc. Please make sure you have all the pre-requisites installed as per

  • Is there a group that is porting the firefox, thunderbird and/or seamonkey to IBM AIX(5.3, 6.1 and/or 7.1)?

Just trying to find a newer version of firefox, thunderbird and seamonkey for my
IBM AIX (5.3 and 7.1) systems.
Wondering if anyone in this forum knows of anyone trying to port one of the
latest version to AIX. (I am using firefox 3.6.28, thunderbird 3.1.20 and seamonkey 1.1.18)
Really need to update these products. Unable to fully access a lot of sites.
Would appreciate help locating a never version that runs on my system.

Sorry, the situation hasn't changed ([https://support.mozilla.org/questions/935325 935325], [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/959919 959919]). I suggest you direct this question either at IBM support, or at the AIX forum.

    * IBM only makes mention of [http://www.ibm.com/systems/power/software/aix/browsers/ Firefox 3.6.25].

  • Oracle 10.2.0.5 om AIX Power series 64 bit

    Hi
i need to install oracle Database 10.2.0.5 on AIX Power Series 64 bit.
I have checked on oracle.com but there is only 10.2.0.1 available for my requirement.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
So what i need to do?? Please direct me to proper docs .
    Regards

    Hi;
You need to install first 10.2.0.1 setup than you should apply 10.2.0.5 patch. For patch you need metalink account

For your issue i suggest below steps
    1. Use 10.2.0.1 setup and install Oracle software only

  • What is the latest version of firefox for IBM AIX

I am trying to update firefox and thunderbird and seamonkey on my
    IBM AIX 5.3/7.1 systems.
Trying to find the latest version that works on my system.
    Environment:
IBM pSeries hardware (Power 4 and Power 6) running AIX 5.3 and AIX 7.1.
IBM latest version is 3.6.26. Really need a newer version. Having problems
at a number of web sites.
Anyone know where I can find a newer executable binary?
Or the latest source with the instruction on how to build firefox on my system using
    gcc 4.7.2?

I do not understand the comment.
I am currently using firefox 3.6.28 (Third Party).
    IBM has released firefox 3.6.26.
"There will be no newer firefox for AIX"
I did not realize the mozilla.org has created firefox just
for non-Unix systems. I used to download the source tree
and compile and install it on my system. Stopped doing that
when I could get it from a third party and/or IBM.
Is it mozilla.org policy to NOT SUPPORT IBM AIX, HP HP/UX and
Oracle/Sun Solaris (aka - Standard compliant UNIX)?
What a change in direction. From a browser created for the
UNIX environment to one that NO LONGER SUPPORTs the
UNIX environment. So SAD... SInce the IBM, HP and Oracle/Sun
has no other borwser to compete with firefox and/or seamonkey.

  • FRM-92102: A network error has occured [IBM AIX 5.3]

    Hi All,
I have deployed my oracle forms application on Oracle 10g(10.1.2.0.2) Application Server installed on IBM AIX 5.3 Server. Forms developed on Developer Suite 10g.
When I login to the application and start working, The FRM-92102 Error pops up and I have to quit, without any other option
Soon, when I check the opmnctl status, I see OC4J_BI_Forms moved into "init" state. After sometime the state gets into "Alive”. Then i run my application again only to get the same pop again.
The pop up occurs randomly. Neither specific form nor operation invokes it! I don’t know why the Status of OC4J_BI_Forms suddenly gets into "init" state? Since it’s in "init" state the Application is loosing a connection to forms service and popping up the above error.
Pls find the detailed logs in below link
    http://www.mediafire.com/?ywnyid4xhr5
I have a dead line to meet in Next weekend. Any help is highly appreciated.
    Humble Regards,
    SAM

    Hi All,
I resolved this by editing opmn.xml file.
    Change
    <data id="/reports/rwservlet/pingserver?start=auto" value="20000"/>
    to
    <data id="/reports/rwservlet/" value="20000"/>

  • Need Help on Configurations of Data Services on IBM AIX Platform

    Hi All,
We are in the process of installing Data Services XI 3.2 on IBM AIX platform. We are having some showstoppers which we are not able to resolve.
It would be of great help to us if anyone can give some inputs.
    Lanscape:
    Data services server: Server A
    OS - AIBM AIX
    DB2 Database: Server B
    OS - AIBM AIX
Activities Performed till now on DB2 Side:
    Multi user development:
    1.       Created 2 DBu2019s on Server B
    ·          REPO_CR (Central Repository u2013 Which is used for multi-user environment).
    ·          REPO_LR (Local Repository u2013 Which is used for actual development like login and build   jobs).
    2.       Created multiple schemas under REPO_LR(One Schema for each user).
    ·          User1, User2, User3, etcu2026 (These schemas can hold metadata of Data Services XI which can be used for reference).
Each and every schema should have itu2019s their own user name and password
Activities Performed till now on Data Services Side:
    1.Installed Dataservices
Activities Yet to be done on Data Services Side:
1.Configure Repository manager (Create central repository REPO_CR of type sucure using repository manager)
2.Configure Job Server(Create a Job server and assign the local repository REPO_LR to the same)
    Issues:
While creating the central repository usning the below command:
    ./repoman -UCRREP -Ppassword -SServer B -NDB2 -QREPO_CR -tcentral -c -a -d
an error ocurred as :"Error while creating the Local Repository"
I think we are getting this error because of some connectivity issue between DB2 server and Data services Server.
Please share all of your valuable thoughts.
Note:Our DB2 admin said we cannot create any ODBC connections on AIX platform
    Thanks,
    Muni

the arguments that you are passing to repoman are not correct, if your server name has space then you should enclose that in quotes, else it will be treated as 2 arguments, you are passing -SServer B it should be -S"Server B"
    -SServer B
I don't think you need to pass -Q option for DB2, its required only for Sybase Repo
for DB2 you will have to install the DB2 Client, and create a Node and Catalog the database on that node
if you are able to open DB2 command prompt form the unix and use that database, then try using the following args to create DB2 Repo
    -Uusername -Ppassword -NDB2 -SDBName -tcentral -c -a -d
or better use Repository Manager from Windows to create repos
