  • Dell printer and Mac OS

Hi, we just switched over to Mac and am trying to get my Dell 2130cn printer to work with these computers. Many thanks to the help in this forum, i was able to find and download the recommended pxlmono driver and can now print in color. However, i'm not able to use the duplexer, second tray, and printing photos takes forever. We are using the comps/printer in a business application, and printing newsletters, envelopes/graphics etc is a necessary daily event. Does Mac offer a translating software that will allow me to install the Dell drivers to run the printer as I did on our PCs, or should I buy a new printer?? Many thanks

Thanks for the replies guys. Just to double check--would it work if I installed Windows with a Mac program that allowed me to run Windows parallel to the Mac os (i'm sick of windows) just to run the printer? I know it seems like an easier solution to just buy a new printer, but frankly I'm not excited about the options out there--really like this printer and have $500 of toners we just bought for it. But i don't really want to compromise--I'd like it to work like it did on a PC. Thanks again

  • HT3500 I cannot connect Macbook (OS 10.6.8) to Epson XP 400 wirelessly. It works when connected to a USB cable. Both printer and Mac are on the same network and Norton/symantic is OFF. The Epson will not show up in "add printer". is off.

I cannot connect my Macbook to Epson printer XP 400. Both are on the same network and Symantic anti virus is disconneted.
Add printer does not find the Epson. All works when I use the USB cable.

Further information on my question about the epson wireless printer and macbook.
It seems that the epson xp-400 works wirelessly only with 802.11n wireless network not with 802.11g or earlier.
Does anyone else know about this. I read it on the epson support site for epson xp-400.
Also epson xp-400 will not work wirelessly if it is already connected to a computer with a USB cable.

  • Network Attached Storage Recommendation for PC and Mac compatability

    Hi Everyone,
I am about to purchase a MacBook and am looking to also by an NAS drive on which I can store all of my music (and maybe my movies as well). I want to be able to store and retrieve files from both my windows machine and the mac.
I have been researching the drives and can't decide whether to go with a LaCie, Maxtor, or Western Digital. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Also, I am not clear on how I would be able to store both Windows and Mac Files on an NAS but I have gathered that it should be no problem to do this. Can anybody here explain this to me? My goal is to have one partition on this drive so that I have a central media library.
Thanks for any input. These forums have been a great source of information for making the decision to buy a mac.
    Steve
(I am posting this in multiple places in hopes of getting a response.)

You might want to look into the ReadyNAS from Infrant:
    http://infrant.com/
The models have essentially the same features in different form factors. It's more expensive than a bare bones NAS, but it's very capable. Briefly:
-- you can use 1-4 drives, for massive capacity
-- it implements RAID 5 in hardware, allowing you to get redundancy without much wasted space. Other NAS that provide RAID 5 generally do it in software which is really too slow to be usable
-- provides smb, afp, ftp, http access, will work with pretty much any OS
-- when using their proprietary X-RAID you can sequentially replace disks with larger ones (allowing a rebuild in between) and when you are done the extra space is automatically incorporated into the volume
It's really a very capable unit, allowing you to have massive space and redundancy at home for storage, backup, etc.... You can get going with only two drives and then add more as you need the space/have the money (X-RAID automatically moves from RAID 1 to RAID 5 as you have extra drives).
They also have a very active user forum, so you can get a good view of how it works and hear from the developers directly.
    Good luck.

  • HP psc 1210 all-in-one printer and Mac OS 10.9 (Mavericks)

I just installed the new OS X (Mavericks) on my mac yesterday, and now my printer, an old but reliable HP psc 1210 all-in-one, will not install.  I was previously running OS 10.6 (Snow Leopord) and had no problems with the printer.  Is there anything I can do to install my printer on the new OS?  My computer doesn't even recognize that there is a printer connected via USB when I try to install it... is there anything I can do?

    Hello,
Here is a link to a support document on hp.com on how to install on OS X Mavericks.

  • Solaris Express 11 and Mac compatibility

    Hi all,
I would want to use Solaris with my Mac so I tried to boot on the DVD and install the Developer version, the Mac boot on it correctly and started to install Solaris. But I have a problem with the screen (APPLE 23' with a NVidia 7300GT) when it wants to switch in the window mode, my screen freeze and the system returns to the console mode...
I tried with another screen (samsung 17') and the installation in a window mode worked !
So the problem is the compatibility with the screeen or my graphic card ? (it seems that the 7300GT is not yet supported, it doesn't appear in the listed supported devices report)
how can I do to work with my Apple screen with the high resolution (1920*1200) ?
    thanks a lot...

    Cindy,
Thanks for the quick reply. If I'm understanding correctly, the SCSI unmap command was implemented in last November's Solaris 11.1 release but has since been disabled due to performance problems. I'm running the original November release with no updates so can I assume that SCSI unmap is enabled on my system? If so, do I run any risk of data corruption by staying with my current version? I'm currently running Solaris 11.1 from a SATA SSD.

  • Wireless printing and Mac OS 10.6.8

I have recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.6.8 (Software Update) and it appears to have removed my wireless connection to my HP Printer All in One C8180.  Computer instructions do not feed into the printer. It was fine before the upgrade. I have a Mac OS X (10.6.8), Mac 2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Can anyone suggest what to do?

Unless you've tried this already, before you roll back to 10.6.7 it may be worth re-installing the 10.6.8 update using the combo updater: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
The combo has all the updates since 10.6. Sometimes on this forum people report issues after doing the latest point update to the OS. Using the combo often, though not always, fixes things.
It's worth repairing disk permissions before and after updating.

  • Idle printer and Mac

I havephotosmark a 2009 Macbook OSX system and a photosmart 6380. I get the printer idle message, too. Have followed instructions to no avail. The printer prints out blank sheets, but the printer message says that it is idle. It has new HP Idcartridges.

    Hi Krypton,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Photosmart 6380 is idle and printing out blank sheets.
I have a few questions for you:
1.) What version of Mac are you using? OS X: Finding your OS version and build information
2.) How is the printer connected? Wireless or USB?
3.) Can you make copies with the printer?
In The meantime, please take a look at this guide. Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages.
Hope to hear back from you, and have a great day!

  • HP Photosmart e-station printer and Mac 250 Pro

I am having problems printing 3 x 5 photos because the error code says that the paper tray is not loaded. It is loaded and I think I just do not have everything set correctly from my Mac. Any suggestions???  j-9

    Hi,
First try a forced shutdown of the "Zeen". Hold in the power button until the Zeen completely powers off. Not just the screen. Usually, the Zeen will make a small sound from the speaker when the Zeen is completely off.
Turn the printer off as well. leave it off for about 30 seconds.
Power the printer on. Power the Zeen on. Wait until all is completely powered on and connected to each other.
You can tell this from the home screen of the Zeen.
Also ensure that the Zeen is loaded with the latest Android version for the Zeen. That is Version 2.11
visit this link to find out how:

  • Problems with Epson R2400 printer and Mac

I'm a photographer and I switched to an imac a while ago. When I tried out my Epson R2400 printer, it worked really awful, comparing to when I used it with PC. I still haven't managed to fix these prolems. The printer menu is diminished (less options, many inaccessible in grey), there are problems with print density, with color adjustment, what I see on my screen is not what I get on my print (a black and white photo in grayscale mode can appear almost light blue when printed), there are even alignment problems (centred photos appear closer to the left edge of the paper). And I don't have a clue why all this is happening. The printer driver I installed is apparently the latest one. So I don't know where to go from here. I have installed and I use the profiles of the specific papers I'm using, but the results are NASTY. Please help.

By the way, I have read the links under "More like this", but those threads don't seem to clarify my question. Originally I had installed my Epson driver from the original (old) Epson CD. When that didn't work I uninstalled and installed the newer Epson driver from the Epson's site. Doesn't work and the problems I'm having are the ones I mentioned above.

  • LEXMARK PRINTER and MAC

    Hello,
I have a Lexmark all-in-1, S400 Series. Has worked fine up to a few days ago. Nothing is printing. I am getting the message: "There is a problem communicating with the printer" although the MBP printer window also indicates "printer ready"
I've not changed any settings/preferences. I've checked the addresses (SSID are the same, i.e., computer name and printer name), pinged; . All appear fine.
By the way, I print wirelessly (or had been up to now).
    Please help.
    Thank you,
    FMW

I have a different Lexmark (x5410) but here are a few trouble-shooting hints...
Open System Preferences, go to Printers, select the printer, click on "Open Printer". This will show you the print queue. Sometimes a wonky job will fail and back up everything behind it.
Go to /Applications/Utilities/Console and run it right after the printer misbehaves. Look for messages with time stamps that line up with when you had the problem.
If the message is something about trying to write to a freed object, there is a bug in the driver for the printer. What probably happened is that somewhere along the line you got a software update for the printer drivers -- or should we call that a "software downgrade"! You can try going to the lexmark site and downloading the driver from there, and if the old driver works, then whenever software update offers to "update" your driver just refuse!

  • Belkin print server/Mac compatability

    Hi everyone,
I recently set up my iBook for wireless broadband, and wanted to add wireless printing too. I ended up buying a Belkin wireless modem/router, and set it up to link with airport without a hitch. However, I can't get the Belkin F1UP0001 wireless print server to link up with my home network. Now, it does state on the box that it is only compatible with a PC, but when I asked abut this in PC World I was told that it should link up with the Belkin router regardless. The print server CD with set up wizard only contains .exe files, so I can't get them to run on my iBook. My set up is as follows:
    iBook G4, OSX 10.3.9
    Belkin F5D8632 adsl router
    Belkin F1UP0001 wireless print server
    HP Officejet 6110 USB printer
Does anyone know of a way to get the print server to work with OSX? Or should I just get a refund?
    Thanks,
    John

I suggest you rethink this plan. To use the OfficeJet 6110 with a third-party ethernet print server device like the Belkin F1UP0001 you will need to (a) get the print server set up to work with your existing wireless network, which is not an easy task if you don't know much about network design and configuration, (b) use the third party CUPS printer driver called HPIJS because the OS X printer drivers provided by HP for this printer won't work when the printer is connected via a print server, and (c) once you do get it to work, all you will be able to do is print (the scanning feature won't work).
If you really badly want wireless printing, buy an Airport Express and configure it to join your existing network, then cable this printer to the Airport Express. You will then be able to use HP's own drivers for OS X, and configuring the Airport Express will be a fair bit easier to explain to you. You will, however, still only be able to print to this multifunction printer.
