Hi Experts,
So, IBM is having their own specification for SOA and SAP is also having its own specification for SOA. What is the main difference between IBM's and SAP's specifications and their implementations side. IBM has its own stack for SOA is SAP has its own stack for SOA?

I have read the article on SDN called "How to Set Up SSO Between IBM WebSphere and SAP EP Using JAAS", which is also the name of my posting.
The reason why I post this is that I've tried to follow the links in the PDF to get the file WebsphereEpSsoLib.zip but I get an error 403, which tells me that the file is not there.
Does anybody know where this file went or can somebody tell me an alternative place to get this file?

Dear Experts!!!!
While searching and exploring SDN to solve above mentioned error "NoClassDefFoundError: com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Provider " found out in some posts to check for classpath. So, we have set the environment variable classpath with jsse.jar file location. After that when we tried, we are getting the same error.
Can anyone please suggest where to check or set the classpath for jar files to overcome the above issue.

OS/ Applications details
1) Windows 2003 enterprise edition 32 bit
2) MS SQL Server 2005
3) SAP ECC 6.0
Sever details
1)     IBM x3650 dual Xeon server 5120@ 1.86 GHz,
2)     RAID level I
3)     RAM 8 GB
I want to go for Symantec database backup software. What information I have is, to take SAP systems database backup through Symantec you need to have.
1) SQL Agent of Symantec
2) SAP Agent of Symantec
                Given these information can you please help me out in putting the backup system in place.?

Lotus Notes 7.0.1/7.0.2 and SAP Business Workflow

Hi Everyone!
Please help me on this.
My client has received an email from IBM that they could have their SAP Connector free of charge if they are to upgrade their current Lotus connector ver5 to version 7.0.2. This version has included Workflow Integration as part of IBM's integration points with SAP.
Does anyone have an experience on integrating the two? Please share documents or procedures on how to integrate them.
My current configuration is intended for a 1-way communication integration.
I used the report RSWUWFML2 for sending notifications (though in my case, it only sends a message that there were workitems present in the recipient's SAP inbox). The SMTP configuration works fine. The client has not yet purchased the SAP connector.
If the SAP Connector is now available, the 2-way communication will be imposed.
I am planning to configure a 1-way communication integration where it could work either on a 1-way or 2-way communication. Is this possible?
Can I have a configuration (for sending of workitems to Lotus mail or internet mail) which could have a link that connects the recipient to the transaction for approval or workitem execution?

1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.

Both the roles are more likely the same, In consulting companies like IBM, Deloitte , TCS and others SAP functional anlayst is a more popular term but if you work directly with a SAP client - SAP Business Analyst is what they refer to a functional anlayst. Most of the responsibilities are same but they are some roles which require more of ANALYST person who can gather requirements, GAP Analysis, IS - TO BE and etc and less of configuration or customization in SAP therefore they sometimes call it SAP Business Analyst but in both cases the configuration knowledge and experience about specific modules is required.

many thanks for you help. But the problem still persists.
1. We don't have $ODBCINI. There are no conection issues at all. Connection is performed by IBM Data Server Client (db2client) db2 connect to ...
2. For which stored procedures do we need to apply these Grants? We manually exported the available historical data from the TrendingDB to CSV files, connected to the database server with db2 connect... (on the app server), imported these CSV with the same user, it all went smoothly. We granted some DML's to the database user. also granted DBADM and SECADM to the database user as well, just to be sure there are no permission issues.
The Error message seems to indicate There is a problem finding the correct driver for monitoring database, since it says,
      networkLayer    "ODBC"
        DBMS    "DB2"
com.sap.connectivity.cs.core.CSError: Specified RDBMS is invalid : DB2.
- Maby IBM Data Server Client (db2client) is not supported for monitoring database at all?
- Do we have to install additional DB2 clients like DB2 CLI driver or ODBC client instead?

SAP R/3 is the central enterprise version. It is not specifically designed for any inducstry sectors and it can cater many of the industry types.
Is is developed for specific industries an for SMB's (small and medium business). It will have components specifically for the industry.
The SAP Mill Products component adds sector-specific functionality to an ERP system to satisfy the complex requirements of mill industries (e.g. metal, wood, paper, textiles, construction materials, and cable sectors).
These industry segments differ from others primarily in that the materials used have a large number of characteristics and variants. The materials in the segments listed above are also predominantly area-based (e.g. paper, textiles, plastic film) or length-based (e.g. cables, piping). Account must be taken of these material characteristics throughout the entire supply chain.
To cater for the particularities of these industry segments, SAP Mill Products features processes and functions that cover the entire supply-chain cycle from product design and configuration, through planning, order processing, capacity planning and production, to final delivery. Application Link Enabling (ALE)
1.You distribute data using ALE if you want to communicate from one system to one or more other (mostly internal) systems.
2.ALE transfers data in IDoc format and uses the methods of tRFC for data transfer.
3.ALE enables the integration of business processes across several SAP or non-SAP systems.
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
1.You use EDI if you want to exchange business application documents with an (external) partner system (for example, a customer or vendor).
2. The SAP system sends EDI messages in IDoc format to an EDI subsystem, where they are converted to a universal EDI standard (UN/EDIFACT or ANSI/X12).
3. This enables communication with non-SAP systems.
By definition, two partners are involved in the process in an EDI application scenario: The sender and the recipient of an EDI message

Using the Open Catalog Interface (OCI) between SAP-ECC 6.0 and SAP-MDM

Hello ASUG Community.
I'm working on an SAP-MDM project where we will configure the OCI interface between SAP-ECC 6.0 and SAP-MDM. The business requirement will be to punch out to SAP-MDM's catalog from SAP-ECC for expensed items (e.g., no material master record exists in SAP-ECC).
The data that will be returned to SAP-ECC will be purchase price info, material group, short text, & our global SAP-MDM item number.
The question I've been trying to design around is "where to store the SAP-MDM item number"?
I've looked into creating a custom filed on EKPO but now feel that a configured text field will be the best solution from an SAP-ECC point of view (less effort on the SAP-ECC side from a development perspective, no need to regenerate the EKPO table, etc.).
The question I'd like to pose to ASUG is.... Does anyone have experience or an opinion to offer using this functionality? It seems that I will have to code in a user exit or BAdi to insure that the SAP-MDM item numbers are returned to the appropriate text field on my POu2019s. Or can this be done using the standard OCI functionality?
I found OSS note 1347656 which references BADI "ME_CATALOG_INTERFACE" but I'm not sure if this right path to go down or if this would be the correct place to code non-conforming OCI mapping requiremetns.
Any insight would be most appreciated.

I would suggest you create a new field for this as you may require thois going forward for reporting as well. Text fields are difficult to report.

I am having an issue with an IBM site and it was suggested by customer service that I need to install version 3 of Firefox. I cannot find a site to do this.

I need to download a copy of FireFox 3.o to be able to post updates in an IBM repository. The current 4.0 version doesn't allow me to post or open files in this repository.

If you just need it for that one site, I believe a better option than replacing Firefox 4 is to install the portable version of Firefox 3 on your hard drive. You can use the portable version for the IBM site and Firefox 4 for other sites. You can get the portable version from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable - Firefox 3 is listed in the legacy versions section.
It is best not to use Firefox 3 for all browsing as it is no longer supported with security updates.
