IBM's Multiple Systems Networking Facility ( MSNF )

I have 2 mainframes. Each mainframe is part of a different logical SNA/VTAm network. Each mainframe has a front end processor ( FEP ). The mainframes communicate with each other through MSNF via a TIC on each front end processor. The communication consist of the transferring of batch jobs and RJE traffic.
I cannot go directly between channels on the mainframe because of IBM's limitations on traffic that passes through different networks.
I would like to get rid of the FEP's. I have CIP interfaces connected to both mainframes. Does any one know how to accomplish MSNF via CIP's?

Hi Phil,
The best approach is to take it to APPN, using Border node if the VTAMs have different NETIDs. Use Enterprise Extender (EE) if at all possible. Getting to IP transport removes all media and gateway issues. You could stop just short of EE, and use LLC protocols, and then bridge between the machines, using DLSw (or DLSw with FST for high bandwidth links) if they're geographically separated.

Thanks in advance for helping! I am trying to setup an OS X server to provide a DHCP address to systems using multiple DHCP networks.
I have previously only had to provide DHCP services for a single simple network like:   192.168.14.xx      (192.168.14.50 - 192.168.14.199)
Now that I need to provide DHCP for multiple networks like:    192.168.14.xx,   192.168.15.xx, and etc.
I am not sure how to make sure that the IP address provided is for the correct network.

There are two ways to do this. If you have a network at 192.168.14.0/24 and you want to add another class C 192.168.15.0/24 you can simply expand your network to a /23. This would give you a contiguous block of addresses from 192.168.14.1 through 192.168.15.254. Now technically, you are using a class C range but applying class b subnet. Regardless, it should work. If you need to expand beyond this then you end up with trouble. If your base network is 192.168.14.0 and you go to a /22 then the base is shifted down to 192.168.12.0/22. This may cause issues if you have a log of devices in the center of your 14 network.
The second option is to define VLans and tag them. This will require work on the switches, the creation of virtual interfaces on OS X and then the creation of DHCP ranges based on the VLan.
In this case, your 10.8 server can span the VLans and then server devices on each of them.

Fiori: incorrect alias used when multiple system aliases assigned

I'm implementing SAP Fiori PO/PR/Contract approval.
There is only 1 gateway system currently in order to support 4 ECC systems.
(Sandbox, development, quality and production)
Everything is working correctly when assigning only one (Sandbox) SAP system alias to the gateway service of PO approval for example.
However when we assign multiple system aliases and set the sandbox system alias as default things go wrong.
(Currently IW_BEP is not yet installed on the development; Quality and productive system)
And we noticed the service is resulting in an error message because these BEP function modules can not be found on the target system.
However the issue is that it should not call these systems as we have flagged Sandbox system as default.
Anyone has an idea or note for this?
(We temporary fixed this by assigning only a single alias to the services).
But in a later phase we want to add all in order to be able to test on all systems and run production as default.

I don't want to use the MOC.
I want the behaviour like mentioned in the note:
The default system is used whenever the service is not called as MOC. If you have defined more than one default system alias, the first system is used as the default.
How can I achieve this?
According to my understanding now I should make sure ";m"o is not added to the URL, but how can this be achieved?

How can I create manual Y-axis labels in a multiple system report?

A similar question was asked by Lutz1410 on 3/30/07, but it doesn't seem that this was finally resolved. I'll try to ask the question in a different way.
I created a graph in View with 3 axis systems in the "multiple systems" mode, then transferred this to Report. I would like to apply manual scaling and text to each of the 3 axis systems, however if I change either of these parameters they are applied to all 3 Y-axes. In other words, I end up with 3 axes having exactly the same text labels and scaling.
1. For the axis text, is there a delimiter that can be used in the axis text field to tell Report that the first text value is for the first Y-axis, the 2nd value is for the next axis, etc?
2. For the scaling, is it possible to have separate scales for each Y-axis?
Of course, a workaround is to create 3 independent graphs in Report, but this is less convenient.

Hi Craig,
If you want to apply different manual scaling parameters to each of the stacked Y axes, then you need to use 3 separate Y axes. If you want to display a curve-specific text to each of the stacked graphs, this you can do with a DIAdem expression:
@ChnName(CCN)@@         channel name of each curve
@ChnDim(CCN)@@            channel unit of each curve
@ChnComment(CCN)@@   channel description of each curve
The corresponding value for each curve will automatically display at the correct vertical spot next to its curve.

Different manual y-axis in multiple systems

Hallo,
i "ve some problmes to generate a report in Diadem. I have measured values, 600.000 datapoints in 2 channels, current and pressure. The measured values are in a wide range, but i have to lock for the small signal behaviour, so i have to zoom in small x/y areas. The founded points of interest must documented, so i use the function "transfer to report". While i look the data in n-systems i get a report with lines in multiple systems. The problem is the Y-scaling, the scaling is automatically to the whole range of the data, but i want the Y-scalling of the small y area. If i want to rescale manually i found only 1 y-axis, but i see two different y-axis. After rescale manually the scaling is for both axis the same. If i go back to automatically scalling the scaling is different but the same porblem like before, scaling to whole datarange.
How is it possible to have two different manual y-scallings in a multiple systems diagramm with two data-tracks.

I sort of understand what you're talking about, and this sounds like something we should be able to configure correctly in REPORT. I won't fully know what you mean until you send me a data set and the TDR layout file that you're struggling with.

I have installed 11g instant client on windows machine and when I do a tnsping from cmd I get

I have already copied all the files over from mesg folder. Also when I do tnsping on something which is not in tnsnames.ora file I get

Copied from where to where, and why? there should be no reason to be copying these files at all.
C:\Users\xxx>tnsping abc
And to add to the confusion, as has already pointed up, instant client doesn't come with tnsping, so your use of tnsping contradicts your statement that you are working with instant client.

Multiple system maintenance cycles are not shown in pop up for selection

Hi,
In change manager, when we create a change document from a change request, we dont get a pop up for selection of maintenance cycles with multiple systems in it.
The change document is getting created by taking the only available maintenance cycle with only that system.
Is there any configuration for this?

I know the pop up will come only when there is more than one maintenance cycles for that production system.
I have done configuration for Normal correction.( SDMJ) and customized it (ZDMJ).
When I try to create a CD* from CR* for a particular production system ( CCP) , it just takes up a maintenance cycle for CCP system and doesnt show up any pop for selection of maint cycles whereas I have created 5 maintenance cycles for this system CCP.
The other 4 maintenance cycles have multiple landscapes (CCP and EAP )in it whereas this one (which gets selected by default) just has CCP landscape in it.
The strange part is that when I try to create a stand alone CD ( without CR ) , it will give that pop up showing all 5 maint cycles. But this is not happening when I create a CD from a CR.
I have never done/ seen configuration for the pop up of selecting maint cycles in ChaRM.

On a 3 system network and utilizing a network harddrive to store the profiles, 2 systems work fine, the 3rd indicates 'file being used' and wants to use another profile.

On a 3 system network, utilizing a network harddrive to store the 'profile folder', 2 systems work fine as long as only one is used at a time, but the 3rd system shows a 'profile in use' error all the time and wants to use another profile. 2 of the systems are running Win7 64-bit and 1 is running XP 32-bit. One of the Win 7 systems and the XP system work fine utilizing the same profile on the network harddrive. The two working systems have been shutdown and the error continues for the third system. All 3 systems are running Firefox 3.6.6. What is the problem? Please note that the same setup was used for Thunderbird and ALL 3 systems worked as planned.

netsh winhttp show proxy revealed that proxy settings were set to a test proxy without bypassing local addresses.
I used netsh winhttp set proxy proxy-server="http=proxy.mydomain.net:8080" bypass-list="*.mydomain.net;<local>"
to set the correct proxy settings, restarted the server and updates started coming in.

RAR - SU24 Config Updates - Multiple Systems

I was in the process of updating the SU24 data within RAR and was wondering how GRC differentiates between a transaction that exists in multiple systems. Typically only technical transactions would exist across systems, but this may not always be the case.
I can't say with 100% certainty that a tcd that exists across systems will be maintained with the same SU24 data. Nor can I say that it "ALWAYS" should have the same SU24 data.
When you upload the SU24 data from multiple systems and the same tcd/auth object/auth values exist, will the values be overwritten as you upload the text files for each system? I'm assuming yes? If this is the case, you would have to be cautious to the order in which you upload the text files per system.
We use SRM, BI, PI, and ECC. Any comments would be appreciated.

yes the text files do not have the SID but when you upload those files in RAR you specify for which system you are uploding it. By selecting the system from drop down you tell GRC for which system the SU24 data is for.

My wife’s 2012 Macbook Pro has Yosemite and is using Wi Fi for the internet connection.
Every time, both on startup and awaking from sleep, a window appears on the desktop with a locked icon saying, “Networksetup is trying to modify this system. Type your password in to allow this”.
The window (which can’t be moved or dragged) shows the computer’s user name. The password has to be repeatedly typed in as many as 10 times and the highlighted ‘modify configuration’ box clicked before the window disappears and the computer then functions normally.
Needless to say, this is driving my wife up the wall… I would certainly appreciate information on how to get rid of this troublesome window!

Failover Cluster Validation Report Error with IBM USB Remote NDIS Network device

We are setting up Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Failover Cluster on IBM X3850 X5 and get errors in the Failover cluster Validation Report due to the IBM USB Remote NDIS Network Device is using APIPA adresses and both servers are using same APIPA-adresse.
How should I configure the Server and OS for the Failover cluster to be MS approved?
IBM don't recommend that i disable the Network device, but it is a possible solution!?!

What I did was use ipconfig /all to see the settings it is using and then when and set the ip setting on the NDIS driver to be that except I increment the last value by 1 for each node so that they do not have the same IP address. I ran the
cluster validation again and it came up clean and I have not experienced any issues yet. It does give warnings about it being an Automatic Private IP Address and should not be used, which is ok because we are not going to use it anyways.

If you right click on the deployment in the monitoring node and select rerun deployment you will get something like the below from the right click tools by Now Micro
You can then select the group you want and hit Start.
Another option would be to set the deployment properties to Always run the program, but this would make all devices always rerun the deployment.
If you wanted to be able to select specific devices then you will probably need to script yourself something unless someone has already done it.
You could start by looking at Deployment - Rerun Deployment.ps1 that's installed by the right click tools.

To stop the pop-up, Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.

This is perfectly possible when you use a distribution model for your message types in BD64.
Per message type you can indicate multiple destination systems in BD64.
Of course you need to maintain all the partner profiles.
