IBook and ICloud

Will my iBook (no Intel chip) be able to use new iCloud?

Since you say that you are running Mac OS X 10.5.8, that means you have an iBook G4, then it probably will work.
From the iCloud page:
Some music features of iCloud are available in beta now in the U.S. only and require iOS 4.3.3 on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 (GSM model), iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2, or a Mac or PC with iTunes 10.3 or later.
From the iTunes 10.3.1 page:
System Requirements
Software:
Mac OS X version 10.5 or later
And:
Hardware:
Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5 or G4 processor
1.0GHz PowerPC G4 or faster processor is required to play Standard Definition video from the iTunes Store
So, it looks like it will work with an iBook G4 with some limits on capabilities.

  • Ibooks and icloud drive

if i create a folder in icloud drive with some ebooks, can i go on my ipad, open ibooks and import ebooks from icloud drive??

I have done this and I too would like to know if I can transfer some of the books that don't show up on my iPhone to iBooks (on my iPhone).
Anyone have an answer for this yet?

  • Help with iBook and iCloud

    Hi!
I saved a PDF file to iCloud. Can I read this file in iBooks on my iPhone? I can't see it.
Or I have to use iTunes to move my PDF to iBooks only?

I don't think so. I was in error when i said " use iCloud to sync it to your iphone or ipad". I checked my PDF files on my iPad vs iPhone and even though I have the settings for iBook to sync collections, I found the books sync but not the PDF files. To test it I made a quick PDF file from a Pages document on my iPad and emailed it to myself. I opened the attachement on my iPad to iBooks PDF. Then I waited a few minutes and checked my PDF files on my iPhone. The newly created PDF was not there. I would have believed all files associated with iBooks would be synced since when I look at the categories of the syncing under the Settings app for iBooks it says "Sync Bookmarks, Sync Collections, Show All Purchases".
Then I made a Collection and added PDF files to it. This again was done on my iPad. I then checked my iPhone and the Collection file name I had created was there but no files were showing. So then I added a book to the same collection on my iPhone and checked that same collection on my iPad. Same result. Title of the collection shows but no book shows.
I don't have any problems of book purchase syncing to my iPad or iPhone but the Collection function does not cross devices. While this is somewhat frustrating it doesn't stop you from manually adding PDF files to your devices and reading them when you choose.

  • IS THERE A WAY TO DELETE A PURCHASE FROM IBOOKS FROM THE LIBRARY AND ICLOUD, OR AT LEAST A WAY TO HIDE WHAT YOU'VE PURCHASED IN THIS NEW APP?

Dear Apple, my name is Jack, and I recently upgraded my computer to the new OSX 10.9, which included among many other apps the iBooks one, in this new iBooks app for Mac I accidentally downloaded by mistake a sort of obscene japanese comic book, since the moment that this happened I've been trying to remove this content from my iBooks library, which is being impossible due to the fact that even if a successfully delete the book with the backspace key it still appears but with an iCloud symbol, and if I go to my iCloud settings theres no options to stop iBooks form sharing this on iCloud for there is no "iBooks" option on iCloud settings, I even followed a Tutorial on the apple web page about hiding your purchases that explains how to, but in this new version of iTunes there is no such option as "connect" under the Store menu of iTunes, or even if I make my way to my iTunes purchases this new iBook purchases does not appear. I just want to be able to open my new iBooks app without having to see this obscene japanese comic book all over the app. My request is for you people to add an option to completely remove books from the library and from iCloud, please, so far these new OSX was amazing and this is the very first time I have something to complain about.

Well as a matter of fact, I already found the solution. The option is a little bit hidden, and this will remove your purchases completely from the library and iCloud. What you have to do is this: 1.- Open iBooks app, and the first thing you will get it's your library, then at the top left corner of the window click on iBooks Store. Once iBooks store is open you will have four options at the top: "Featured", "Top Charts", "Categories" and "Top Authors", you have to click on "Featured" or "Categories" it's the same but you have to be on any of those two.
2.- Once you are in "Featured" or "Categories" at the right side of the window there's going to be your email address that you use as your apple id, and in "Categories"  you will see at the right side the topic "All Categories"  and bellow that you will see your email address again. Doesn't matter if you are on categories or featured the option bellow your apple id is going to be QUICK LINKS, and bellow that there's gonna be four options: Account. Purchased, Redeem and Support. Click on Purchased.
3.-Once you clicked on purchased and the Purchased window is open you will see in the middle of the window two options : "All" and "Not in my Library", click on "All", then you will have all your purchases, there you will only have to put the cursor on the book you want to completely delete, but without clicking on it, just putting the cursor in the book and a black cross will appear at the top left corner of the book, click on the cross, if it ask you are sure you want to hide or delete the content just click the affirmative option.
4.- In the top left corner click library again, once in your library you have to find the options that are at the very top of your screen, the ones that are in the same bar as your computer name, date and time, volume and in the case of macbooks the wifi signal and the battery. Those options are: iBooks, File, Edit, View, Go, Store, Window and Help. Click on "View" , when you get all the options of "View" you'll have to find the one that says "Show Purchases in iCloud" and most likely would have a check mark, if it does not have a check mark close it and skip to step 5, if it does have a check mark just click on this option so the check mark disappears.
5.- Last step. Now you just have to close the app, completely, so go to your dock and give a secondary click on iBooks app and on the secondary click options click Quit. Just open iBooks again and there will be there no more.
Hope this is of some help to any of you, and sorry if this was tricky or if I'm not very good at explaining. I figured this by myself so if any of you does not get this explanation just send me an email, I'll be happy to help you with it.

  • After downloading Ios500 and iCloud, my saved iBook disappeared with my saved books? Any assistance ?

After downloading Ios5.1.1, and iCloud, my iBook disappeared from home screen with my saved books,,, has any one experience the same or can help? Please

They should show in the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app for re-downloading (re-downloading). If you updated to iOS 5.1.1 via your computer's iTunes were the books in your computer's iTunes library (did you do File > Transfer Purchases before updating) ? If the books weren't on your computer's iTunes then the update process wouldn't have been able to copy them back to your iPad after installing 5.1.1 on it.

  • Can't delete and Ibook with iCloud icon

    Hi,
Delete is not available as an option for an Ibook in the Cloud, where/how do I delete it? I tried downloading it and deleting it. It's showing on my Mac and my Ipad, but not available to delete in either location, as it is apparently "in the cloud". Just upgraded to Mavericks and accessing Ibooks in new format.
    Thanks!
OK - nevermind! Went to account/purchased in Ibooks and selected "Hide". This activated the "delete" option on the Ipad and "delete for all accounts". Hopefully it doesn't come back as a "walker" lol.

If the usage shows no data, then there is nothing on your device to delete.  Videos with the cloud icon are technically not on your device.  Sometimes they may appear with the cloud but still be on the device, in which case the Usage section in settings should show them there as deletable.
If they aren't in there, and they have the cloud icon, then they are in the cloud and are not taking up space on your device so there is nothing to delete.
You cannot delete items from the cloud.
Do the Episodes "downloaded" to the iPad appear in the Videos App?
You can try a Reset of the iPad to see if that makes it recalculate the used space.  Hold down on the Home and power/sleep buttons until the iPad restarts.  No data should be lost.

  • How can I delete iBooks from iCloud?

I downloaded some free iBooks.  After I read them, I clicked "delete" and a dialog box said they are deleted from my computer but remain in iCloud and can be downloaded later.  But I want to delete them from iCloud as well as from my computer.  How can I delete iBooks from iCloud?

You cannot delete them form icloud.
Icloud is a service that allows redownloading of past purchases.  That is the point.

  • The Tug of War Between iTunes and iCloud

I'm still pretty confused about the apparent power struggle between iTunes and iCloud.  I would naturally think that iTunes takes care of backing up or at least keeping an index of all my purchased songs, movies, tv shows, podcasts, and even ibooks.  And iCloud likewise would take care of backing up my calendar, contacts, any iWork documents I have, and anything else not coverd by iTunes.  The point where it starts to get a little muddy is the apps.  Who stores them?  I can see them in iTunes, but it seems that iCloud will back them up, too.  I even hear that iCloud will back up the multimedia stuff just like iTunes has been doing for a while.
Is there anyone that knows what the clear delineation of responsibility as to which service backs up what?  Or if not, who can point me in the right direction?  I've been googling this for a while, and I've yet to come up with a satisfactory answer.
I would think that I'm not the only one who has scratched their head over this.  Thanks in advance for any thoughtful replies on this topic!

  • IBooks and background mic use - a warning

I like iBooks - I prefer the way it works, in general, to kindle, with more options for how the text is handled.
I also like the inception app (the app from the film), which plays gentle ambient music and plays with the sounds around you using the mic. However, when it runs in the background, a red bar appears at the top of the page - this is an apple insistence, presumably so you know the mic's being used, but this pushes everything else down a bit. It's a bit clumsy just shoving everything down the page, but not generally an issue.
However, in iBooks, the footer stays where it is andthe app chops off the bottom of the last line of each page, or, in some circumstances, the entire line.
As you can imagine, it makes the two apps incompatible and unusuable.
i like to read while using the inception app in the background; but that's not possible using iBooks and means i will never buy from apple ibooks again while this bug exists.
I've sent feedback to Apple; but if lots of million people asking them to fix the alarm bug falls on deaf ears, I can't imagine my feedback email will even be read by anyone.

King_Penguin, I'm a bit confused as to this process. I have two macbooks with an epub saved and loaded in iBooks library of macbook-A. I can see an ebook that I previously purchased, with the 'cloud' badge in the corner of the ebook, on macbook-A and macbook-B which means that  iCloud has synced the ebook and is available for download on either machine. Should it not work the same for an ebook I've loaded onto my library on macbook-A. In other words, shouldn't iCloud sync my new ebook, which i installed on macbook-A, across macbook-B? and for that matter, any other iCloud enabled device?
I suppose I could transfer the file onto the other machine and load it onto that library as well, but I dont see why it won't sync. Thanks for any help!
    Background:
    - Both macbooks devices are signed into same apple ID. I verified this through iTunes and iBooks.
    - Both devices are running Mavericks OS. iBooks vers. 1.0.1
    - In system preferences>iCloud both devices are logged into same apple ID. However, I don't see an option for
iBooks content to be synced in iCloud.
    - Both macbook-A and B have 'Show Purchases in iCloud' option checked under iBooks>View menu

  • ITunes and iCloud accounts

I was excited about iCloud for storage but I'm really confused about my "stuff."  I was told when I transferred content from my 1st gen iPad I could just do it on my new iPad.  But that's turning out not true and it's really confusing.  I thought when I got the update with iCloud, ALL my content went to iCloud.  But now I'm having to download everything separate.
I also had to hook up to my iMac and do a sync with iTunes for most of my content.  It's a good thing I could do that because the rest of my apps and content I'm having to install separately.
I'm in the middle of this now and I don't mean to just rant.  My question is, do I have 2 accounts now that I have to keep up with?  One iTunes and one iCloud with different e-mails and passwords.  It seems that way because with my 1st iPad, I kept getting my e-mails randomly with purchases and updates.  Did this happen with everyone?  Should I delete one of the accounts or something to keep it more simple and organized?
Now I'm having to go to iBooks and download all my books again too.  I must be doing something wrong!
    Thanks...

    Thanks...
I think this is what happened.  I thought my old iPad was completely backed up with iTunes and the Cloud.  But I guess I didn't have iCloud backed up.  I still have to check my contacts but I know I don't have any of my photos on the new one.  That part is okay as I wanted to redo that anyway.
What happened was I took both iPads into the Apple store and they immediately swiped my old iPad.  When he went to do the iCloud part, he asked if I'd backed it up and I thought I had but guess I only did iTunes.  So he sent me home and said to just choose "purchased" and download my apps.  I'm doing my books now from iBooks, all separately.
I know this is all my fault and I really appreciate your answers/questions.
    Thanks!

  • I updated my iPad to iOS 6 I face a problem to retrieve  my books in the iBooks and the videos as well all the other apps are fine , I am sure I did back up, the books appear for a second in the iBook then disappear? Thanks

I updated my iPad2 to iOS 6 I face a problem to retrieve  my books in the iBooks and the videos as well . All the other apps are fine with full data. I am sure I did back up to my friend's mac book pro .The books appear for a second in the iBook then disappear? Thanks

They gave me a brand new phone and I logged into all of my iCloud stuff, etc...
When I try to go onto the Internet it will say its loading, loading, loading, then give up. Pandora has given up after one song. All other apps that need to connect to Internet or networks load and load and then give up. I will double tap the one button and close out all the apps and it may work for a second but no more. Then I will turn the phone off and the same thing happens.
I have run out of ideas.

  • FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls.

FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls.
This is the error message I receive when I try to add my phone to my Mac for proximity / FaceTime audio calling.  This feature worked until I changed my Apple ID.  I have updated my Apple ID everywhere I can think of updating it.  I've signed out of Apple ID on my Mac, deleted EVERYTHING (calendars, contacts, etc.), signed back in, etc.  I've done the same with my phone, and even done a power-down / reboot and nada.  I keep getting this message from the Mac.
I can't figure out where else I should look for my old Apple ID to be logged into anything or creating problems.  I've gone over my iPhone and Mac and I'm at a loss.  As an aside (and yes, wrong forum), have lost the ability to do SMS forwarding since the Mac no longer receives the code from my iPhone to allow this feature to work.  This was lost after signing out of the Apple ID on my Mac this afternoon.
Bluetooth is turned on for both devices.  Both devices are on the same WiFi network.  Both devices otherwise appear to be working correctly with the exception of the problems I'm having with FaceTime and iCloud being signed into the same Apple ID (which they are).
    Thanks in advance,

(By the way, I should have pointed out in my earlier posting that I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 on my Mac). I Just installed latest Yosemite update while my iPhone was switched off, and when my Mac restarted, the 'iPhone Cellular Calls' checkbox in the FaceTime preferences was checked and the problem was therefore solved. Switched on my iPhone, still fine. Relief.

  • We have multiple devices in our family.  On each iPad/iPhone each user has their own apple id for iMessage, Facetime and icloud, but we all sign in to the same apple id for itunes.  When one of my kids comments on my shared photostream, it shows my name??

    CREATE A NEW USER
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Users & Groups
Decide on whether to setup as Admin or Standard User.
Switch to the New User by logging out under the Apple in the Menu Bar or use Fast User Switching
Fast User Switching allows other users to leave current applications and windows open. Depending on RAM, you might need to log out rather than use FUS.

  • I found My iPhone contacts on my friends Iphone we both have 4s! But we use the same apple ID and ICloud ID! How can undo what happened? all my private stuff is now on his phone!!! help me plz!!?

I found My iPhone contacts on my friends Iphone we both have 4s! But we use the same apple ID and ICloud ID! How can undo what happened? all my private stuff is now on his phone!!! help me plz!!?

Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
    1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
    2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
    3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
    4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
    5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
    6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this.
