IBook coming to the end of its life

Well I think my ibook has now come to the end of its life, I would be running an application (maybe 2) and then the whole system freezes over, yup I can't even move the mouse...
So I have to go ctrl+command+power to reset the ibook and have to reset the smc every time this happens (take out battery sources and other stuff hold power for 15 secs, re attach blah blah blah) then zap the pram (wow so much stuff)
Now the system is SNAIL Slow, turned it on... I herd the infamous tone (doooong) went to a greyish sorta screen (looks like system software background) then the apple logo! But no spinner....
Anyone reckon its hard drive failure for sure?
Oh wait just my luck, kernal panic when I moved it slightly...
So what do you think?

i just completed my end of life ibook g4 restore to life. i installed a 40g harddrive (that was dying issue) from http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Toshiba/MHW2040AT/.
and buy the tool set at $5-

i idif not do steps 24, 25 or 26, just pry the top case over that part. at step 30 be really careful when lifting top case off. make sure that the trackpad connector comes out of the socket without unglueing itself from the topcase. it is very very tricky to plug it back in. next, be careful with step 32 and 33. i left them attached and moved the top case up and taped it the screen, when you get to step 34 top shield, no need to take it off. just remove the screws from the lower left side and bend the shield up and out of the way to get to the hard drive below. be sure to check that out before screwing everything back. if you have an airport card, do not attach it until after loading all your software. mine gave me a kernel panic with airport card in.
this is typed from the newly resurrected ibook g4 with airport card!!

Can an AS1/2 swf loaded via Loader class tell the main movie (AS3) that it has run to the end of its timeline?

If I load an external swf:
my_loader.load(new URLRequest("abc.swf"));
addChild(my_loader);
abc.swf starts playing - how do I get it to tell the main movie that it reached the end of its timeline and finished playing? Added bonus: the loaded swf is AS1 and the main movie is AS3. I'm not sure if I could convert the loaded swf to AS3.

Blank Spaces not coming in the end

All,
We have a report where we need to show some blank spaces in the end of report o/p. Let's say 10 Blank Spaces.
But in o/p Spaces are being trimmed. If we place some charcater in the end then it shows 10 spaces before the character, but if we remove the chracter then it removes the blank space also.
We need to send the report o/p to some feeder system where these 10 bkank spaces are mandatory.
Please suggest how to achieve this.

The way report is hiding the blank spaces from the last its normal report bahavior and as you said if you put some character then it shows. yeah, it will show then. Instead of placing some character place one simple line in the last with white color. So, it will create the spaces in report and user will not feel any difference/change.

When i make a classic tween in flash all the object does is appear at the start of its course then suddenly appear at the end of its course

so i am trying to create the usual basic balll bounce and for it to follow a motion path; i have followed everything the tutorial does exactly but when i click play the ball appears at the start of the guide then in the nothing until the last frame where it appears at the end of the guide

Without seeing anything of what you did there is not much to go on except to say that when you create a classic tween you use a library-based object and it has to exist at both ends of the tween. When motion guides come into play you usually have to fiddle around when making the link between the object and the motion guide to get the object to lock to it.

450 MHz G4 Approaching the end of its Line... or Not?

450 MHz is not fast by any stretch I know, but for 5 years this machine has served me well and been 100% reliable. My G4 Cube is stock except for a 120GB HD, maxxed out RAM and Panther 10.3.9. Some common Photoshop chores on my very large files (200 to 700MB) do require a wait but it has never been unbearable. That is to say, while waiting, I could jump to another app or 2 and do something while photoshop did it's job. The extra RAM has certainly kept my machine useful and snappy in this regard. But yesterday is seems I finally hit the wall.
I was trying to run a DVD training video (via external firewire drive) and installed training app while following along in the application I want to learn. The video displays fine on its own but once I try to run all 3 items (the video, training app and the app. I'm learning) everything just slows down terribly. For instance toggling between an app dialog box and the video takes measureable time... i'm talking 10-15 seconds. Opening a pallet, causes it to disappear for a moment. Sometimes, the video instructs you to open a 4th app. Doing so takes over a minute just to get the app up not to mention loading the dialog box (another 20 seconds) and grabbing the file you need file... another 20+ seconds.
The training app suggests a 1.0 GHz processor but minumum required is 450MHz and if I recall correctly, when I installed I saw 16MB VRAM required... right where I'm at with a stock Cube.
Sounds like a no brainer... the computer is too slow. BUT WAIT... this is where I could really use some advice.
In the interest of keeping my system clean from unnecessary programs I opted to load both the Application and Training App onto one of my EXTERNAL FIREWIRE HDs which contains OS 10.3.9. I reasoned that the training app would not need to be a permanent installation so why clutter my main system. Up 'til now whenever I've booted from this external disc (which is pretty often), I really sense no loss in speed or performance of the system even when working in apps like photoshop. The firewire bus seems as fast as the installed ATA HD in real world uses. So, in the situation I just described both my firewire ports are busy.. one with an external system HD and the 2nd with the optical drive.
Could the bottlenecking be the result of running off 2 firewires rather than the internal drives?
Or could it be the marginal amount VRAM?
Or is the stock processor just too slow to handle my need?
Activity monitor shows CPU user usage in the upper 80s to mid 90s with the 3 programs running and just one user logged in.
This computer has a 100MHz system bus and I think 66MBps data bus.
BTW, I do perform regular maintenance on both my imac and cube. Each run flawlessly and most certainly would meet their bechmarks. I repair permissions before and after any installation, rebuild the directories every month, empty caches etc.

You're absolutely right... the Cube is limited. Not just in expandability but cooling and everytime I've looked at processor upgrades, I shy away because
I don't want to hack the case and of course a meltdown is not on my wishlist either. Plenty have upgraded cubes with DP, big video cards etc. For me, I've always considered the risk and the fact that I can never get USB 2.0... researched that one a year ago and no dice. If only I could talk my dad into parting with his G4 quicksilver. He uses his PCs for work duties and the mac basically sits there to go online because he doesn't want to invest in software for it.

I am doing a file to file tunneling in which from a file server I am picking the file and putting it into SAP application server nothing is done in IR .However when the file is reaching in application server its end seprator is coming as # .I am surprised from where the #is coming at the end of every line.When i am dowloading the same file to my local directory in that file # is not there.
Please help me as my client is not accepting the file with endsepeartor as # .
Might be # is coming as the apllication server is in uniq env . But how to get rid of it .Please guide me with whatever input you have in this regard.

I think you do not have to do anything because see you said on saving the file locally, you are not able to see the # character at the end of line..........but when you are seeing in SAP window, then this # character is displayed..............so your SAP server can be a UNIX server and it is displaying the End of Line and Carriage Return ASCII characters as # because these are non-displayable characters.....
But still if you do not want this # character to be displayed, then you can try Binary and no character encoding........then see if your file is displayed without # character.

will find them.
Then the keystroke to delete depends on which version of iPhoto you have. All the keyboard shortcuts are under the Help menu.

End of Useful life for an asset

Hello,
Does anyone know if there is any standard report which states when the asset's useful life is going to end? Even if there is no standard report, does anyone know if this information is stored in any tables from which it can be extracted. Basically, my user has a requirement to know when a certain chunk of his assets are going to fully depreciate. I know this information is available in the asset explorer (comparision tab) but there are some 500 assets and it would be helpful if there is some sort of list available.

Thanks for your reply. My question is not to get a list of assets which are fully depreciating this year. I want to know the end of useful life for certain assets that I will select. What you told, would show the assets expiring this year.

Empty lines at the end of the payload generated in FTP server

I am facing an issue in one of the use cases that I am trying to implement.
I am getting a purchase order from one of the trading partners through Oracle B2B.
B2B forwards this B2BM (B2B message ) to AIAB2BInterface. From AIAB2BInterface my BPEL process gets invoked, which in turn invokes the AdapterComposite which has a FTP adapter that writes the purchase order to a FTP server. PFB the end to end flow.
PurchaseOrder from ABC trading pertner--> Oracle B2B --> AIAB2BInterface --> TestInputProvABCS --> TestInputAdapter -> Host trading partner picks up the file from FTP location
In the ProvABCS I retrieve the actual payload from the B2BM and convert it into a string using ora:getContentasString. I am then invoking the adapter composite and sending the string as the input to FTP adapter. At the adapter composite I use a simple native schema (for validation of the input string) which has only one element PO_Info of the type string. But when the file gets generated in the FTP server there are empty lines and junk characters at the end of the file.
Need some advice on this. Why are the empty lines coming in the end of the file? Please help!

OK, I cannot figure out a way to modify the JTable (in an extended class) directly.
So, what I did was to add a wrapper around the TreeTableModel which shows an empty row at the end.
For those of you who are in a similar situation, the methods that I had to modify are

public Object getChild(Object node, int i);
These other methods are required if you are using a TreeTable instead of just a table (see http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/treetable2/index.html)

The signature of above methods is slightly different than the ones at: http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/treetable2/src/TreeTableModel.java
This is due to the fact that, if you want to display the serial no. (as in row number), then getValue() can just return the row number. IndexedTreeTableModel is another wrapper around the TreeTableModel which can add an extra column to display the serial number.

Can I sell books made with iBooks Author in the UK iTunes store?

I'm a UK-based musician who publishes a range of tuition books on playing the bass guitar. I've spent the last few months devleoping one of these books in iBooks Author, and the end results are really impressive. I submitted the book to the iTunes store last week (after setting up a US Tax ID etc) and it was approved in the US store yesterday. Here's a link to the relevant page:

My question is, is there any way I can make this book available to customers in all countries? I filled in all the info/pricing etc for all countries when I uploaded the book, but it's only approved for sale in the United States so far. Is there just a delay in the other stores being approved or can it only be the US for textbooks? I notice that the UK iTunes store does not have a textbooks category. Am getting worried now that I shouldn't have put it in the Textbooks category, although I don't remember being able to choose another option.

It is possible to publish books created in iBooks Author outside of the US. They will just not be able to appear in the Textbooks category as it's currently a US only category.
I can see in the UK store that you've got two editions of the same book for sale. One has screen grabs and is clearly filled with iBA features for £9.99 and the other at £6.49 with no preview images which I assume is in standard ePub format - both are in the Arts & Entertainment -> Music category.

It is not possible to create a new iCloud account using a Windows machine. You must create the account using a Mac (10.7.5 or more) or an IOS device (iPhone etc). Once that is done you can sign into and use the account on your Windows machine.
