Ibook g3 getting aol broardband

I have only just got my ibook g3 and i wanted the internet for it but the connection i had with my windows pc is a usb ADSL modem from AOL and BT. I have the broardband disc but my ibook does not auto run it and so it does not install the drivers that i need to access my modem so i can not get broardband for it. so all i wanted to know was is there a way that i can install AOL broardband on to my laptop.

you can go to the bt voyger website (im assumeing youve got that aol modem) they have mac drivers for the modems , then you can plug you modem into your mac and in expert set up you can change your dial number to 0,38 this allows you onto the broadband network i used to have my ibook connected this way only prob i found was it did drop connection a fair bit on the first connection but when you resign in no probs (sometimes issues of disconection when clicking on mail button as well but in general was worth some grief to get broadband on my ibook (aol uk dont support broadband on macs so no helpline though

I am currently deployed over seas.. I recently purchased a book that im pretty stoked about. but when i open it in ibooks i get ( incorrectly formatted or not formatted for ibooks to recognize) the file is an .epub so i dont see how it could be a format issue.. I tried emailing apple but because of the situation they want me to call. I have very limited telecomminications at my location .. somebody please help

The Report a Problem link can also be found in iTunes/Store/View Account/Purchase History.
Before asking for a refund, also try deleting the book and redownloading it.
If you find that the iBookstore is does not meet your needs, you can try one of the others like Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Googlebooks, or Sony.

My app is stuck on one page of the ibook I was reading. How do I close the ibook and get back to the main library?

A number of extensions can cause that problem, you'll need to do a little troubleshooting to find out which extension is causing that to happen for you.

What media was it recorded on? If it's a VHS tape, look into a "capture card" like the Dazzle series. If you recorded on DVD, use Handbrake or a similar program to compress it into an mpeg4 or other video file compatible with iTunes.

  • I have seen all the early responses to how to fix AOL mail issues on Iphones, however no mater how many smpt servers I set up or on .... I can not get AOL mail to send from my Iphone 5, running IOS 6.  I have an Iphone 4 running IOS6 and it works fine...

I can not get the Iphone 5 to send out aol mail.  I have added the extra smtp server as suggested and it still will not send mail.

I am having the same problem. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I called apple restored my phone to its original and it did not work :-( Now it seems like it worked for a bit than stopped again. Now I have to contact Apple again to set up an appointment at an Apple store because it may be an issue with my phone. I have only had it for a week and half!

  • After reinstall of OS on iBook G4, getting an AirPort error when trying to connect to wireless network

Just erased and reinstalled the OS (Tiger OS X v10.4) on my old iBook G4 so I could give a wiped clean laptop to my young son. At the point in the reinstall process where I Select a Wireless Service. When I enter the correct password for my correctly selected home wireless network, it responds with a message box that says, "AirPort error. There was an error joining the selected network." What now? Should I just select "My computer does not connect to the Internet" so I can get past this point? But the fact is, connecting to the internet is about the only thing he's going to use it for. Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh! Please help! All advice welcome...

Thanks for your response, but the initial problem is that I'm still stuck in the set-up process. I can't move past this screen to get to anything else unless I can get it to accept my wireless network password, or I suppose I could go back one screen to the "How Do You Connect?" screen and select "My computer does not connect to the Internet." I presume that might get me past this set-up phase into an area where I could futz around with settings. But I was concerned about disabling something I couldn't fix later (me, not a techie!) by selecting that. What's the consensus? Should I just do that so I can get out of the set-up process? Will I be able to reactivate my AirPort once I'm just in operating mode? I really should be more technically proficient than this...

  • IBook G4 Gets only so far on StartUp then goes to blank blue screen

I've been trying to trouble shoot this, following Apples recommendations but so far, no help.
When I turned on the computer the screen was all blue with the cursor. There weren't any graphics or icons.
I inserted Software restore disk, Force Shut it down, and started it up, holding down the C button. The screen showed some progress, eg; (can't remember exact words) checking ...software, checking ....network, etc. and then it just goes all blue again.
I wanted to try the Hardware Test disc but now the Software restore disck it won't eject. Help!
I let my son use the laptop for a while and he may have downloaded a whole bunch of jpegs of cartoon art--might that be the source of the problem? I hope I don't have to take it to Apple because it's a Fall 2003 ibook, and I'm sure I'll have to pay $$$. Is it even work repairing in since it's "so old"?
    Thanks

To eject the disc, start the computer and hold the mouse key down when you hear the start up chime. The install disc should eject.
It sounds like several things may be going on here. Your son may have downloaded so many cartoons that it used up the free space on the hard drive and now there isn't enough. This could very easily happen if you have the 30GB hard drive, as it's really small. Computers will do strange things when the hard drive is too full. So that might be a problem.
The Software Restore disc is for restoring the software after you have done a clean install of the OS. It's not something you want to put into what might be a full computer. So this might have caused some problems.
If you can get the software disc out and boot off the Apple Hardware Test, by all means run it and see if anything shows up in the form of an error code. However, I suspect your problem is not hardware, but software, and that should be possible to fix without costing anything but some time and effort.
Do you have any important data on the iBook? If so, you need to try and rescue it. If you have another Mac you can use, you can use Target Disk Mode and get your data off the hard drive that way.
Once your important data has been rescued, the next thing to do would be to insert Install Disc #1 and navigate to Disk Utility. You will see two hard drive icons on the left--choose the one that names the manufacturer and go to "First Aid". Verify and repair if necessary both permissions and the disk. Repeat until both are verified.
Then you can choose to do either an erase and install or an archive and install. If the problem was a too full hard drive and all the data has been saved, you might as well do an erase and install. This option will erase everything that is on the hard drive, so you want to be sure you have saved everything you want.
You probably have the same sort of CD set that I do--3 Install Discs, 1 Apple Hardware Test, and 8 Software Restore discs. If you upgraded to Tiger, you might also have the black retail Tiger disc.
If so, you can reinstall the OS by just using the Tiger disc. If you want to save a little hard drive space, you can do a custom install and remove all the languages and printer drivers you won't need. If you are still running Panther, you can use the three Install discs that came with the iBook.
Once you have restored the OS, you can use the 8 Software Restore discs to reinstall the software that came with the iBook. If you have any other software like a later version of iPhoto, you can install that too.
This will make it like a brand new computer. You will need to set up your internet access and everything just like you did when it was new. And you will have to update all your software. It's definitely a lot of trouble, but it could well fix the problems you are having.
If you have access to an Apple Store, the genius bar could probably walk you through saving your data and how to do the erase and install. If not, please post back with more questions and we will try to help.
    Good luck!

  • IBook G3 getting very bad signal when near the router

Hi my iBook G3 has been giving me problems. when i'm next to my server which is an iBook G4 that has an ethernet cable going to it because it gets the internet off the wire and sends a unsecure connection for my 802.11.b iBook G3. which it gets about 1-2 bars when it is about 3 feet away. I've tried unplugging the antenna and taking out the card then blowing the contacts  on the G3's contacts in the computer and card. Can this be a problem with the G3 or the G4? Sorry for writing a book for the question.

3 feet within range of the router for wireless interference is about right.  You have to remember signals go out all directions causing overlapping interference near the router.  If you are within 150 feet/450 meters of civilization, I strongly recommend an 802.11g or better WiFi ethernet bridge.   That way you can secure your connection, and ensure you have faster speeds.  The G4 of course only supports 802.11g.  Most newer Macs support 802.11n as well.  802.11g is the oldest that supports WPA2 encryption which is industry standard.

  • Ibook drops airport signal, have to reboot iBook to get AE signal back,

my powerbook is working fine and the AE light is always green, but my iBook drops the AE signal whenever it goes to sleep. upon wakeup the airport is on but no signal and I have to reboot the computer to get the signal back strong even though it's fine on the powerbook. all updates, firmware etc. done. any ideas?

You might want to try resetting the PMU. It has some control over sleep and wake issues.
Read about the nightly maintenance routines that run if a Mac running OS X is not shut down or allowed to sleep in this Apple Knowledge Base article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107388
If you set the iBook (in Energy Saver Preferences) to just sleep the display (and leave it plugged in at night and open), these routines can run and she won't lose the AirPort signal, either.
I only close mine when I'm going to put it in its bag and take it somewhere (in that case, it would lose the AirPort signal anyway).
Maybe the PMU reset will do the trick for you and she won't have to use it the way I use mine (if she doesn't want to).

  • When I open a new tab I get AOL instead of the tiles. How do I fix this?

I made the mistake of downloading the "new" Firefox with AOL toolbar. I did not like it, and deleted the toolbar per instructions. However, whenever I open a new tab, it comes up as AOL instead of as the tile history. How do I get my tiles back? I don't see that little gear all the help pages talk about......

Worked perfectly, just needed to reset my preferences. Excellent. Thank you!
