  • How long does it take to get approved to sell iBooks through iTunes Connect?

    Hi,
I have applied to sell iBooks through iTunes Connect. After asking for my Legal Entity, Tax ID, etc, it said my application was sent and is being processed. That was about 3 weeks ago. I haven't heard anything since. I'm wondering if there's a status page or something to see if it's still processing. I tried to email [email protected] to ask what was taking so long and haven't had any response. I'm just hoping I get something worked out by the end of two more weeks. I have a show I'm going to and I really wanted to advertise this iBook.

I finally received an email saying I'm activated! (after 4 months!). I guess it's just when they've gotten around to it
    Hello,
Thank you for contacting iBookstore Application.  We sincerely apologize for the long delay in our response.
Your Paid Books account with the legal entity name ------ has been activated.  An email was sent out to the email address provided on the iBookstore application, which was ---------.  Note this is the contact email address for your Paid Books account.
Please log in to iTunes Connect (itunesconnect.apple.com) with the Apple ID/username ------------------- to begin selling books on the iBookstore.

    Hey there,
I've tried to create an iTunes connect account through our business ------- with my ---------- apple ID and I haven't heard anything back. On April 4th, I received an email saying my Tax I.D. was invalid and that I should try to correct it. I corrected it that day and am still waiting. Can you please help me get this resolved or tell me what more I need to do to qualify to distribute iBooks on the market?

  • WEP Connection iBook Won't Connect if Password Active

Just got a new iBook today.
Currently running a Linksys Router (802.11b) with WEP. My G5 is direct connected to it.
When I activate my WEP password my iBook will not connect.
I've tried creating/entering a variety of passwords. (Exactly 13 character) As demonstrated in this document:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=108058
If I disable the WEP I connect without a problem. I'd like to have some password protection.
Does anyone have any suggestions what the problem could be?
    thanks.
    --Kevin

]I just moved into a household w/ a linksys WEP router. Everyone in the house uses PC except for me. I have an ibook. My airport can detect the network. However, when I tried to join the network by using the WEP key as the password, it didn't work. Is a WEP key different from a WEP password? I talked to the linksys tech support people but they knew nothing about apple so they told me to ask the apple people.
One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.

  • IBook No Longer Connects to the Internet

Arrrgh. Everything has been fine for the 6 months I have owned this. Just last week, it would not connect to the internet via Airport at a local internet cafe that I use daily. Nothing has been changed to my knowledge with their settings and I went and tested the machine at 3 other places where it would always connect. Now, all I get is a signal (4 bars), but it will not connect. It says that Airport is connected to the Network, "XXX", and gets a self-assigned IP address, but nothing more. It says that I am connected to the internet via Airport. Using 10.4.4.
    iBook G4 1.33   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Hey boys. This is what we suspect. The iBook wasn't picking up the right IP address. It was set to DHCP, but my IP was 172.16.31.100. That made me raise an eyebrow. At the "n" test sites I tried it on, it seemed that the latter IP was the one being picked up. Now I have connected successfully, but the IP is 172.16.31.233. I am thinking that the IP was either bunk or it was the same as another on the network, thereby not allowing me to connect.
Network Diagnostics did say that, "You have a self-assigned IP address and you may not be able to connect to the internet." So I guess the IP was the problem. To all those having Airport troubles, check it out, your IP might not be right. Since all this is usually auto without the user intervention, it was tough to troubleshoot it.

  • IBook has stopped connecting automatically to wireless network

I just got my iBook back from repair at Apple (a display problem), and now I have two minor, but annoying, problems. First, the computer no longer automatically connects to the wireless network at my work, but every time the computer goes to sleep or I restart it I have to pull down the AirPort menu and select the network to join. I don't have to enter a password, I just have to select the network on the menu.
The second problem is that I used to have the computer log me out whenever the screen saver came on (after 15 minutes) so if I left my office for a while nobody would be able to access it without the password. This isn't working now and I don't know how to change it.

Hi, I have tacked on to this thread as I have the same problem... I can't connect and have get the spinny ball when I try to open internet connect.
This happens every time I update, and I too usually fix it by updating the keychain. However, this time the box only popped up as I was restarting and i couldn;t click it in time, and it hasn;t reappeared since.
    How can I fix this?

  • Powerbook & iBook can't connect simultaeneously with D-link 300-t modem

    Please help
After much pulling of hair I finaly got my G4 Powerbook to connect to the internet via my airport express through a d-link 300-t modem. This I achieved by changing the default ip address of the modem from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.234 and configuring the airport express manually to be 192.168.1.233.
My problem is that my son now has an iBook which he can connect to the internet through the same modem, but we can't connect at the same time. I keep getting the message " 81.178.76.171 in use by 00:11:24:24:25:7d,DHCP Server 192.168.1.234" ( modem ip). Both machines configure IPv4 using DHCP.
I don't want to configure his iBook manually if I don't have to as he doesn't live here and I don't want to muck up his settings for other places he may wish to use it.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
    David Moore

Is the Airport Express distributing IP addresses?
    Probably no
You can set up a new location on his iBook which will not conflict or change his current settings.

  • IBook won't connect to USB External Hard Drives

I'm having a very strange issue with my ibook.
I have three external hard drives (two of the three can use usb and firewire). If I connect them with firewire they work fine. Same thing goes for usb flash drives and usb devices (mouse, keyboards, ect.), but if I connect a usb external hard drive it refuses to read it. It gets power but it will not appear on my mac .....
Now, I don't know if this has anything to do with it but a few years ago I was dj'ing with one of the hard drives that uses usb and firewire (it was connect using usb at the time). Something happened and the hard drive just stopped working. I thought it crashed at first. Its a western digital and every dj I know who has had a western digital has had it crash on them. I took it home and hooked it up to my pc just to make sure it was dead and it ran fine. Matter of fact I can still use it on my mac, firewire only though. Now no matter what type of external hard drive it is, if I am using usb it refuses to load on my mac.
Any ideas on why this would happen?
Also, the other two hard drives are both verbatim

The best idea I have is that the USB bus in your computer isn't supplying enough power to your devices. You could try picking up a powered USB hub and using that to see if that helps.
Alternatively, reset the PRAM, as outlined here:

  • IBook can't connect!

My old iBook has OS 10.4 - 700 MHz Power PC G3. I have the AirPort card 9.52. Why can't I get on the internet. All our other computer connect but not this one. We have WAP2 security on the main computer. Somewhere I read that might be the problem. We have a Netgear Wireless Router WNR2000
if that helps. Our main computer is a PC not a Mac but I have two other Mac that will connect, a G5 and a new MacBook Pro. Please someone help me.

The problem is likely WPA2, the original 802.11b Airport card can do WPA at the very most.

  • IBook G3 Internet Connection Issues

Hello, and thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
I am running a G3 iBook Dual USB. I just installed Tiger and the machine is in good working condition, post install.
When I try to connect to my router, it tells me 'there was an error connecting to <my network.>'
I looked over the forums for this problem and acknowledge that this is an older machine that uses B. I figured maybe the WPA2 is too much for it, and it is, so I removed all protection from the router to see if I could connect that way to no avail. So with the router OPEN, I still am unable to connect to it. I see it, but no connection. I get the same error as stated above.
In addition to trying that; I tried to connect it directly with an Ethernet cable. That also did not work.
    Am I overlooking something simple?
Forgive me as I have been out of the Mac loop for some time. I am a hardcore pc person because of my profession; certainly not by choice! I always loved Macs but my last machine was a 603e Performa 6400. So I'm not a stranger but I must say X is a great deal different!
Again, thank you for any help you can offer.
    Jim

    Hello,
    First you will need to connect to the Internet using the Ethernet, do the following;
    1. Turn on your computer.
    2. From the Apple Menu, select System Preferences, and select the Network icon. Click on the Built-in Ethernet connection, and then click Configure.
    3. The Show drop-down menu should be set to Built-in Ethernet.
    4. Click on the TCP/IP tab.
The Configure: pop-up menu should be set to Using DHCP
The DHCP Client ID should be left blank
Search Domains should be left blank
DNS Servers should be left blank
All other fields will be filled in automatically by the DHCP Server. Click Apply Now when you are done.
You should note the Ethernet Address for future reference. To do so, click on the Ethernet tab, and then write down the Ethernet ID. You may need this if it is not filled in automatically when you register your computer.
    Close the Network preference pane.
You should be able to get online with Safari.
Once you have a connection, do the following,
Click the Apple Logo top left.
    Go to 'Software Update'
Apply all software updates including Airport firmware update.
This will take your Mac OS X 10.4 version to Mac OS X 10.4.11
Your Airport wireless should  then connect to the Internet, provided your security is set to WEP.
    To setup your Airport follow;
Click the Apple icon to open your system's menu. From this menu, click "System Properties" and then "Network."
Click "Show" to bring up a pop-up menu. Click "Network Port Configurations."
Click the box next to the AirPort option in the configuration window.
Click the "Assist Me" button on the bottom of the configuration window.
Click the "AirPort" option from the next pop-up window. Click the "TCP/IP" tab.
Click the black arrow next to the "Configure IPv4" to open a drop-down menu.
Select the "Using DHCP" option and your Internet settings will be automatically detected.
Click the "AirPort" tab and then choose your desired AirPort Extreme settings.
Click the "Apply Now" button on the bottom right side of the configurations window to apply your changes. Close this window.
Click the AirPort connection icon from your desktop menu bar to check that your connection is active. Click "Turn AirPort On" to activate if necessary.
    Best of luck

  • IBook losing wireless connection intermittently

System is an iBook Dual USB that was purchased new a few years ago along with the original Airport card.
Just yesterday, the machine started intermittently losing connection to my access point (a belkin model) which had caused no problems for over a year.
Symptom is that all the "bars" go grey within a couple of minutes of boot, then sometimes come back to all black. But then again, sometimes it never comes back. In the Networks panel in System prefs, it shows airport as on, but not connected to a network.
The only other notable event, was that I loaded the two security updates for 2007 yesterday before the trouble started.
Removed and reseated the airport card a couple of times. Apple Hardware diagnostics show no problems even when run looping for over an hour. Ran disk utility to fix all permissions.
Per some webpostings, it was suggested that some system updates can mess up some .plist files related to networking -- Have deleted those, and still suffering from the same problem.
Other computers in the household have no problems connecting to the wireless access point, so the problem is localized to the iBook.
How do I know if I have a hardware problem (bad card), or some software corruption that is mimicing a hardware problem ?
    Thanks,
    Roger

  • Linksys WAG54GS Router - iBook G4 Cannot Connect When Encryption Enabled

Hi - I have a HP laptop and Apple iBook G4 with a wireless connection transmitted through a Linksys Wireless router. When encryption is disabled, the iBook can pick up a signal and I can browse the internet, when WEP encryption is enabled, it cannot. The HP works fine. I add the WEP key to the iBook but it cannot connect. I've tried the two 128bit encryption options and the standard option, but none of them allow a connection. Is there a specific way to secure your internet connection/router when using an Apple? Any ideas/comments appreciated.

Flames1977, Welcome to the discussion area!
Hopefully the information in KB 106250, Mac OS X, AirPort: Connecting to Third-Party Base Stations will help.
Also if the Linksys has several locations for keys, make sure that your WEP key is in location #1. Apple does not support any other location.

  • I am an iBooks author. Connect shows book management tools. I need app management tools.

As an iBooks author I already have my iTunes Connect account set up to manage my book content. Now that I'm ready to publish an app for the iPhone, however, I cannot find any app management tools. I have a paid membership to Apple's Developer program, and my Apple ID is linked up to XCode. Help?
Message was edited by: J Michael K

Problem solved on the phone with Apple. One Apple ID cannot be associated with both iTunes Connect for iBooks and iTunes Conect for the App Store. They issued a refund on my newly purchased developer membership and had me create a second Apple ID under which to enroll in the App Store side of things. Not perfect, but a quick and easy solution.

  • Airport card on ibook won't connect to D-Link router

    Greetings:
Just bought an airport card to put in my iBook. This replaces a MacSense Aeropad Mini (external wireless card) that has been hanging off the computer and working fine all over the house.
Although I get the iBook to see the airport card (filled-in icon in menu bar) and it tells me there's a signal, I can't get my browser to go to any sites ("Firefox can't find the server at....")
Router is a D-Link DI-514, connected to a Qwest DSL line. I've made sure the WEP hex password # is the same, and I THINK the "network name" is the same (when inputting it in the airport drop-down menu option.
Any ideas on what to do next? Ditch the D-Link and buy an airport base station that'll speak the same language?
    Thanks,
    Carlos Alden

    Okay, some progress:
After hours of googling and fussing with settings on the D-Link and Airport card, I discovered that this problem has a history with Apple/D-Link users, and one must set the "preamble length" in the router setup to "long." The default setting is "short."
Did that, and I was able to get through, but noticed that the signal range is very short, maybe 30 feet. Totally goes out in the other room. This never happened with the MacSense external card. I tried fooling around with the D-Link antennae and now have cut the signal altogether again and can't get back in.
I think it's time to buy an Airport base station, whatever the latest incarnation of it is. It's pretty frustrating know that there's probably some solution but it's buried deeply. Any ideas on how to get this operating more smoothly would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Carlos Alden

  • IBook and iPod connection through Firewire

I looked for a thread on this all over, but couldn't find one, so I'll just post and see what comes out of it. Maybe someone has some idea what is wrong.
I'll try to connect my iPod to my iBook with the Firewire cable that came with it. It won't connect to my iBook. The iPod will charge, but not show up on the desktop or in iTunes. Through USB it's just fine. I know I could just use USB and be fine with it, but my iPod doesn't charge through USB since it's a Third Generation iPod. Any ideas why this is happening would be much appreciated.

I did try connecting my iPod with another Firewire cable. It still didn't work. I also have a Pocketdrive that didn't connect to my computer through Firewire. I do, however, have an external Firewire HD that has it's own power source that connected without any problems.
I found an article at Macfixit that said to reinstall 10.4.3 with the combo updater and then repair permissions. I just tried it and it didn't do any good.

  • IBook G3 cannot connect to WPA (Panther 10.3.9)

    Hi there...
My iBook G3 366Mhz Clamshell with Airport and Mac OS X 10.3.9 cannot connect to my WPA wireless network.
I believe I am all set to connect to wireless WPA, but whenever i try and connect to my wireless it asks for the password and then after a few seconds says that it is unable to join the network.
My router is an ADSL / Wireless router. Its a Thomson B/G/N and is set for mixed WPA/WPA2 mode. I also tried WPA (not WPA2) non mixed mode but either way it still refuses to join.
Afaik Panther should be fine to connect to WPA and i have no problems connecting my other devices (iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, Powerbook G4, Macbook Air and iMac).
The Airport card should be ok too because it connects fine when my network is unsecured, it also connects fine to my neighbours unsecured network and also to their WPA network.
Please please help. I would really like to fix this problem. I can't rely on my neighbours network because it is slightly out of range and slow and i dont want to use those horrible wirless dongles.

    etresoft says:
It is pretty hard to bridge generations like that. Panther could connect to an older router using WPA. But that new B/G/N router just may not be compatible.
If a router has a b/g mode only, resetting it to that can help. The iBook's original AirPort Card is 802.11b.

  • IBooks unable to connect to iCloud/bookstore

After installing Mavericks on a MacBookPro late 2008 everything goes fine but iBooks:
After opening iBooks my fulll iTunes library has been moved (approx. 300 books). but i’m unable to connect to my Apple-account. Clicking the menu-item ( .../Store/..) nothing happens. rudlab
Re: Cannot Connect to the iBooks Store
11.11.2013 15:50 (in response to rudlab)
    Solved for me!
    Here is how it goes:
    1. Make a change to any one of the 10 setting that can be manipulated under the "Get info" window for the "VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority - G5" certificate but leave the "When using this certificate: Always Trust"-setting unchanged.
    2. Close the "Get info" window (password required).
    3. Again open the "Get info" window for ""VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority - G5" certificate.
    4. Now change the setting of  "When using this certificate: ..." to "Use System Defaults" (the 10 other setting should all show "no value specified").
    5. Close the "Get info" window (password required).
Bingo! - Now it should be possible to log into iBookstore right away!
