IBook G4 + Bluetooth headsets... is it possible?

Hi there.
Has anybody with an iBook G4 successfully paired it with a bluetooth headset? I've been scouring the forums for a couple of days, and read about people with PowerBooks and MBPs successfully using bluetooth headsets, but I haven't actually seen an iBook user say that they have been able to do the same.
I have an iBook G4 purchased in December 2004, and a D-Link DBT-120 Bluetooth adapter (i.e. the one recommended by Apple).
I would greatly appreciate any anecdotal confirmation that iBook users are able to use bluetooth headsets with their iBooks (either via internal Bluetooth or via a USB Bluetooth adapter).
Many thanks!

I'm using a Nokia HS-36W and no problems... Just a bit of delay in sound.
Using with Skype and work fine.

  • Apple Bluetooth Headset Update Possible?

Just got to thinking about a possible firmware update to the Apple Bluetooth Headset.
I thought originally the 4 pins on the headset were power only. However, the fact that the charging status is displayed on the iPhone LCD, tells me it could be passing data.
In any case, I wonder how feasible an update would be (either through the pins, or Bluetooth itself)?
Is there any precedent for other BT headsets getting updates somehow?

Charge status could be done by current draw, but it's worth noting that the headset already has to know the charge status internally, so it would make more sense to feed a data connection instead of adding a second ADC into the iPhone which would duplicate what the headset has.
More importantly, though, is the fact that the headset actually has a USB interface. Plug the headset in to the charger on its own, and it appears on the USB bus on your Mac. When you plug in the iPhone, the headset disappears and the iPhone appears on the bus.

  • Is it possible to use an aux cable to listen to music in your car stereo, but answer incoming calls with the bluetooth headset?

I can't figure it out.  I have to unplug the aux cable, turn off my bluetooth headset and then turn it back on to answer the call.

Yes... simply select the appropriate audio output when answering the call.
See pages 58 and 59 of the User's Guide.

  • Can i connect to bluetooth headsets to a mac mini?

I am trying to connect two motorola H730 bluetooth headsets two a mac mini for video presentations.  Basically what i am doing is teaching two different groups of people in two places using one computer. Is this possible?  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
My back up plan was to connect each motorola H730 to a mac mini and an i mac, and treat them as two seperate computers for each location.
Hopefully i was able to articulate what i am trying to do as i am barely able to understand it myself.
    Thanks.

Ahum... You will have client again and it is much easier than you think it is.
I did want to upgrade to OS X Server (Mountain Lion), but that does mean I first had to install Mountain Lion. At this point there was no server application any longer as everything from Lion Server will be archived.
If you do not want to upgrade to OS X Server, just follow my upgrade path, but stop before downloading the Server app from the App Store... Simple...

  • Is there anyway to use the ipad2 as a bluetooth headset?

Well that is my initial question.
i have well searched the internet for the answer but haven't found anything really relevant to my search.
i have a few tablets in my house for my kids, visitors, and for my wife and me. This question arose when i connected my iphone 4s to my hp touchpad.
Webos has a feature to connect my phone to the touchpad and use it as a secondary dialer and receiver for phone calls as the tablet itself has a mic, and speakers. ( Basically for those who have used a bluetooth headset, hands-free receiver in car, it is just that).
The neat feature of this is, when my kids are running around playing with my phone, or my phone is lost somewhere in the house or in my jacket, the tablet can be connected to the phone wherever it is in the house, and still receive the calls from my tablet.
Now for the people who will ask, why are you going to put a tablet to your face. No that is not the case. it's like using your bluetooth receiver in your car. i will listen through the speakers and speak to the mic of the hp touchpad. like a speaker phone. *i know for a fact that tablets in korea are made to make and receive calls just like a phone, But america just wants to limit everything for their people. you may really think how stupid is it to use a tablet as a phone but it really isn't. like i said before they either use a headset or use it like a speaker phone.
THIS comes VERY handy as while i am working on my car in my workshop, browsing the internet or looking through my FSM on my ipad, i can receive a call and not miss it. Sometimes i will miss the call because i am using my ipad2 to listen to pandora through my sound system and won't even hear my phone, or even my phone may be on vibrate.
For my wife this feature is GREAT, while she is in the kitchen she was able to receive calls easily because she was using it to look through receipes. all she had to see is the number and hit the green call button when a call came with one touch. she didn't have to wash her hands, dry, and then reach for the phone. i mean she was saying that she wanted another touchpad just for this purpose alone. ( also for those who don't know the touchpad has crazy speakers )
The hp touchpad does this and i am wondering WHY the ipad2 cannot. the BT tech is there.
you may also ask, why not use the hp touchpad? ... that is for my kids, and all my info is on the ipad2. also down to earth the ipad2 cost me more.
why not just use a speakerphone or a bluetooth headset? they are so annoying while you are working on your car. a speaker phone might be a good alternative but why buy something when it's something i may be able to do with my ipad2.
so is there a solution? even in the jailbroken community? i am willing to do whatever it may take to accomplish this because then it might be a neat feature.
so please i know this was long but i feel that there might be others who might want to use this type of feature.

ok that is understandable and fully reasonable. but tech is tech. when one is made to do everything it can also be limited through the code.
Would anyone be able to make or program something to override the code and just use it to send/receive through the hardware. like said the bluetooth tether feature was not doable but mywi was able to through jailbreaking.
what i am asking is, would be it possible?
( edit: didn't read the part of the profiles. )
profiles are not editable? ... or even replaceable?
or is it really just too much work ?

  • Can I share a bluetooth headset with my iPhone 4 and my Mac?

Can I share a bluetooth headset with my iPhone 4 and my Mac? I don't mean both at the same time. I just think it's silly to buy a separate headset for each. I'd like to be able to sometimes use the headset with my Mac and other times use it with my iPhone. Is this possible? How hard is it to set up and is it annoying to switch over from one to the other.
The headset would be used 75% of the time with my iPhone.

Contacts can be synced direct with Outlook 2003, 2007, or 2010 via the iTunes sync process along with syncing calendar events, notes, and reminders. This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
If you don't use Outlook for contacts - your Outlook address book is empty, before the first sync for this data enter one contact in the Outlook address book. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data.
Or if your iPhone 4 is running iOS 6, you can create your hotmail account using the hotmail account preset with the iPhone's Mail app per the instructions included with this link. If your iPhone 4 is not running iOS 6, you will need to manually create the account as an Exchange account.
    http://www.wikihow.com/Sync-a-Hotmail-Account-on-an-iPhone
Regardless if you have any contacts available in your hotmail online address book, you should be provided a merge prompt when turning contacts on for over the air syncing with your hotmail account settings on the iPhone, which you want to select. This will merge your existing iPhone contacts with your hotmail online address book and merge your hotmail online address book with your iPhone contacts.
To have the contacts available on the iPhone 5, create your hotmal account with the Mail.app on the iPhone 5 followed by turning contacts on for over the air syncing with the account settings on the iPhone.
Or after syncing your iPhone 4 contacts direct with your Outlook address book, sync your Outlook contacts with the iPhone 5.

  • Apple Bluetooth Headset pair with more than one phone?

    HI there,
Is it possible to pair the Apple Bluetooth Headset to more than one phone, obviously not at the same time. (I have an iphone and Sony ericsson phone and need to use it with both.)
    Thanks in advance for help.
    Regards
    Nick

unlike some of the sony ericssons, the apple headset can only be paired with one phone at a time. that doesn't stop you from repairing it when need be, however...

  • Anyone know how to fix Bluetooth headset not working properly after iOS 8 update?

I have an iPhone 5S and I use a Plantronics PLT M20 model bluetooth headset. I am no longer able to answer calls by pressing the button on the headset, since updating to iOS 8. I also also cannot end calls by pressing the button on the headset. This only happened after iOS 8. The Apple Care rep stated that "this is most likely a problem with the bluetooth manufacturer and they need to update their firmware, so now it's just a waiting game until they do that". Is that correct? Anyone encountering this?

Hi - I'm a student with disabilities and rely heavily on accessibility features that make my life easier. For example, I use a Bluetooth headset to trying answer phone calls and use Siri… I especially use the "Raise to speak" option for accessing Siri. Since updating my iPhone five us and my iPad air, I've been scrambling to access the "raise to speak" option for Siri without success. When I called AppleCare, the representative stated I should have that option to enable in my settings. When I explained to her that the option is not showing, she wanted me to reset my phone to factory settings. When I told her I googled the issue and found that it may have been removed in iOS 8… She put me on hold, Came back and told me I was right.
What's worse is that that my Bluetooth headset is no longer working with my iPhone 5S. She stated that it may being I needed adjustment from the manufacturer of the headset– Plantronics. All I know is that the apple care representatives seem confused and I am extremely disappointed in this really impacts my use of Siri and my phone.
When I asked her to submit feedback to her supervisor or the powers that be… I was simply asked to submit feedback to the Apple.com website. While I understand Apple might read that feedback, I also recognize that they don't reply and I don't feel that is great support to someone like me who has a disability and needs a solution. The"Hey Siri" option is not working for me.
Does anyone have any workarounds for the "Raise to speak" problem or the Bluetooth problem? Specifically, the Bluetooth issue is when I try to hit the button on my Bluetooth headset to answer a call or end the call. It's a Plantronics PLT M20 model.

Follow-up to my earlier post that iPhone 6 Bluetooth not working correctly.  I purchased a Jawbone MiniJambox to use as a speaker phone in my office.  Everyone in our company thinks they are the best.  However, it is experiencing the same issues as with all my other Bluetooth headsets.  Everything works except cannot answer or hang up calls pushing the buttons on the Bluetooth devices.  The Bluetooth patio speakers in our courtyard also have the same issue.  However, my colleagues using iPhone 5 and 5s who did not update to iOS8 are using all Bluetooth devices without any issues.  Apple says it is a problem with my Bluetooth device.  Come on Apple.... This makes 7 different Bluetooth devices with different manufacturers.  You cannot possibly believe the problem is with the Bluetooth devices when iOS7 works perfectly fine...
On another issue, my iPhone 5s worked perfectly fine in my vehicle entertainment center connected via USB.  The vehicle entertainment center had complete control of my iPhone and iTunes.  However, now I plug in my new iPhone 6 and it no longer communicates with my vehicle entertainment center.  Again when I called Apple, they said my vehicle entertainment center needed a firmware update.  Are you kidding me...  That is a bunch of BS...!!!

HM1200, BH99b, JabraBT2045 bluetooth headsets do not play music from ipad, ipod touch 4th generation, although it does pair ok. Your iPad has built-in WiFi. You cannot and don't need to use the USB dongle.
Look in Settings > WiFi. Find the SSID of your wireless router, tap it's name and enter the WiFi password.

  • Audio does not behave correctly when Bluetooth headset disconnects

When a Bluetooth audio receiver disconnects, Windows reverts to another active audio connection.  However, the programs that were previously using the Bluetooth connection do not transfer to the new audio connection and reactivating the Bluetooth connection
does not get the audio from those programs back.
The only way to make them work again is to close the program and reopen it.  As a gamer - this is particularly a problem when batteries die.  Usually I would just swap the batteries in 10 seconds and turn the headphones back on, however it is not
possible due to this issue.  Exiting the game would ruin my team's experience as 5+ minutes is approximately 10% of the game's average total time.

    Hi,
There are 3 reasons I can think out:
    1. Bluetooth driver was not released when it is disconnected suddenly, this can be caused by Bluetooth software.
    2. Audio driver can be corrupted.
    3. There is the problem on the program itself.
I recommend you do following test:
Open Windows media player to play music with Bluetooth headset, and then disconnect Bluetooth headset and see if the headphones can work fine with media player.
If it works fine, the issue is on the program you run with problem. Contacting the program provider would be more helpful.
Otherwise, it's related to Bluetooth driver or software, please try to update them from manufacturer's website to see what's going on.
Also, please check if there is any event related to this issue in Event viewer.

  • How to adjust bluetooth headset volume in mediapla...

    Hi,
I've a problem with lovely E75. I just got a new bluetooth headset (HBH-IS800 SonyEricsson) without any volume control. In a normal call the volume adjust works perfect, but in the mediaplayer the volume is to loud even if I press the lower buttom to it says 10% in the display.
I also have the same problem with systemsounds (lika SMS) that plays in the BT headset, they are to load.
Is it possible to change the output volume from this media applications? I cant find any help in the manual or menusystems.

I beg to differ. If SE implements the basic BT protocol set and Nokia will recognize this, and connects, then Nokia's work is done. Nokia is not required to support SE headset but is required to support the BT standards. The idea is to get you to purchase an SE phone over a Nokia phone and vise versa. To not understand this is to miss out on the basics of business fundamentals.
While it may be a great headset, personally I like the fact that I can use my much better headphones (Shure SE 530's) with the Nokia BH-214. I had the SE HBH-DS220 but got rid of it because it too had a very strange BT protocol that would not allow it to connect until music was streaming from the phone. The guys at the SE shop acknowledged this as normal behavior between manufacturers. If you do not believe this, go to and SE shop, or Nokia, or both and ask them to explain it to you.

  • Has anyone tried to use bluetooth headsets in a school lab setting?

Our K-5 school has a lab of 30 Intel iMacs. We've had problems keeping wired headsets in good working condition and are looking to possibly replace them with bluetooth headsets. I am hoping someone has done this and can give a yes or no to this idea.
    My main concerns are:
linking that many bluetooth devices within a small room (static??)
    keeping them charged
will we have to continually relink them after the machines sleep?
We have no tech teacher in the lab, I am a classroom teacher who also oversees the lab, so I'm looking for an efficient solution.
    Any advice? Any recommendations?
    Thanks! Sharon

I have not done this but did look after Macs in a class room enviroment. I think your concerns are valid, you may be making a difficult situtation worse.
If no one come back with a definite answer, you could try a small number as a pilot, and keep them on machines next to each other. That may give you a better understanding of any likey problems.
What are the the problems with the wired headphones, cable breaks? If so woud headsets with detachable cables be an easier answer?

  • Help help bluetooth headset need developer

    Hello everybody,
I haven't any knowledge in to developing and i am here to find a developer who can help me or develop something for me,
i'm actually using a bluetooth headset (jabra) with my macbook (10.5.2) .
the headset profile works perfect , i can choose in my sound preference panel the headset as input or output, but the thing is that i don't care about the audio part what i am looking for is to use the headset buttons ( volume up/down, on/off) but the headset doesn't have any HID profile...
So what i need is a special driver or little software that keystroke for each buttons or send HID values as a gamepad or mouse do , then it will be easy for me to get the values in the sofware i use (max/msp)..
If i look in the preferences panel/sound with the headset coreaudio choosed i can see the volume bar moving when i use the volume buttons of the headset, maybe its possible to do it with applescript too? ( i will post that message in the Applescript's section too).
    If anyone can help ..
    million of thanks

Ok, there's some strange things happening with bluetooth these days it seems. I had a lot of trouble setting up a connection to my phone, even after following avery bit of advice I found on the net.
But somehow I found a way, and now it works. I had to do some things not documented anywhere, excepte from some obscure places from 2003 etc.
The most significant problem I encountered was that my phone would never find my computer, even though I set pscan and iscan enabled.
Here's a line of code I found that fixed the problem for me. It could work for you too, since your problem looks exactly like the things I saw when the phone couldn't see my computer.
    dbus-send --system --dest=org.bluez /org/bluez/hci0
    org.bluez.Adapter.SetMode string:discoverable
I write this after the bluetooth system has started.
    Hope it helps

  • Why are SMS notifications only audible on my Bluetooth headset?

I am using my iPhone 3GS (v3.1.2) with a Jabra BT530 bluetooth headset.
As most people, I don't wear the headset unless I am actually on a phone call. It is absolutely incomprehensible to me that notifications for new text messages are ONLY audible on the bluetooth headset (in my pant pocket). I keep missing messages ALL THE TIME because I don't hear the sound and (surprisingly) do not happen to be looking at my screen.
Please, please, please, Apple, make it possible to ALSO play the notifications over the iPhone speakers. It seems more than logical to enable this. I am surprised that there are not more people who have an issue with this...

We all have this issue, however possibly regard it as a minor one, compared to other more serious issues we are facing with bluetooth, such as [this one|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1804116&tstart=0]!
