Ibook g4 display won't show but fan boots

I have an ibook g4, when I push the power button on the fan will start blowing but the screen will not turn on, any advice. Would this be a bad mother-board, or bad screen or what??

There are a few ideas which helped some other owners of earlier iBook G4
computers diagnose or at least do a trial and error troubleshooting of theirs

The possibility of a logic board failure is among the top causes of the symptom;
but that may not be the case in all instances. A few things to try are mentioned
and I recall them being discussed a few years ago.
If your iBook G4 is a 2004 model, there may be some similarities between the
ideas and issues in the above thread link and what your computer is doing now.
A few mid-2005 iBook G4s may exhibit a similar kind of issue, and some of the
same tests and trial/error ideas as suggested in the same link may help to be
able to understand the cause of the issue as it presents itself to you.

How do I add my new iPhone4s to iCloud's "Find my iPhone"? I followed the iCloud instructions and turned on Macbook Pros' system prefs to "find my mac", turned on iPhone4s's "location services" and set up iCloud, etc. In the "Find my iphone" tab of my new iCloud account (on my Macbook Pro) my iPhone4s still won't show—but my macbook does show. I had my iPhone4s set up at the phone store (2 days ago) and It receives gmail, my contacts and calender entries, the weather, etc. I installed the "Find iPhone" app from iTunes on the iPhone4s, synched to iTunes, even reset the phone, but the only device that gets located is my Macbook Pro. I can send a "sound" message to my Mac (and the Mac recieves it) but unable to see the iPhone4s from my Mac, let alone send any message. Any suggestions to get the iPhone4s device to appear in iCloud?

OK, I figured it out...I deleted the iCloud account off my iPhone (Settings, iCloud, Delete Account), and then added iCloud back in (Settings, iCloud, SignIn)....and then my email (iCloud) and "Find my phone" features worked! Nice!!!!

If I understand this correctly, you wish to print from the iBook under Mac OS 9.2.x and from the MacBook Pro under Mac OS X 10.6.8 (no AppleTalk support in the latter).
What type of printer did you have in mind? Does it have to be colour? Otherwise, a monochrome laser printer may be the best choice (high print quality and a low per page cost). A networkable PostScript printer may be the most compatible. Additional information would make it easier for someone here to suggest a solution.
If you would be willing to accept some extra work and certain limitations, another way could possibly be to "print" to a PDF file on the iBook via a printer driver called PrintToPDF, and then transfer this file to the MacBook Pro and carry out the "real" printing there.

Camera Display won't show up on Lock Screen after 5.1 update?

I am a sprint iphone user, and I just downloaded the 5.1 update...however the camera display isn't showing up on my lock screen, is this only for AT&T users?

And by show up I mean where it is permanently displayed on the lock screen, not where you double tap the home button. One of my friends did the update and now it is permanently there next to the slide unlock.

Macbook Pro's monitor will not turn on anymore. when i press the power button to turn it on, the hard drive and everything but the monitor turns on. it is just a black screen and it doesnt even look like its trying to turn on . Can anyone tell me how to reset or reboot my laptop? I wanna try to see if that will take care of the issue before i drive an hour to the Apple store and have to pay xxx amount of $$$s for thm to tell me i need a new laptop. Please HELP!!!

try a reset first. Shut down, unplug for at least 15 seconds then plug and wait 5 seconds and restart.

Display won't work and fans racing G5 and Apple display

I have a G5 tower with an Apple display connected using a DVI to ADC adaptor.
I have just moved house and now the display doen't power up. The computer starts up and plays its start sound but no life from the screen. The light in the start button on the display lights up when pressed, but goes out when the button is released.
After a while, the fans in the tower unit start racing.
Help!

Hi, Fans racing is normal if no OS loads to handle them.
I'd open it & carefully reseat the Video card for a start.

External display won't show the mouse pointer (optical)

hi all,
13" display dimming my old eyes . decided to connect to 20" sony monitor. got the adapter > connected> display shows identical to laptop BUT no mouse pointer AND when the external monitor is displaying, the menubar is not longer existent on the powerbook (the trackpad does work on the laptop screen with external connected ) so I cannot get to the display preferences to set anything up to get the mouse pointer to show on the external monitor.

ok folks, fiddled since I wrote this and managed to actually get it going ! so all set.
I'm up and running with the display. and all is dandy !

Is there a way to give permission to access iPhone 5C when you can't through the display? Display is not showing but iPhone 5C is recognized in iTunes through USB.

So display on phone does not show anymore; however, when I plug it into the USB the phone is recognized by iTunes and triggers the permission pop up to access. The only problem is I can't click "Trust" on the iPhone because I don't have a screen that shows it. I can even reset the phone by holding the power and home button. So basically it's give permission with no screen. I have a replacement phone on the way but unfortunately the back up for this phone was deleted during a PC refresh so no backup and that's why I need access to it. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

There is no way to interact with the phone if the screen is not working.
Did you happen to have iCloud backup enabled? If so, you'll be able to restore from an iCloud backup and get at least some of your data back.

ITunes displays my podcast show but no podcast episode?

I was notified that my first podcast was accepted by iTunes a day ago. Here is the URL given in my acceptance email:

I can see my Just Love Walking show description and the first episode from the URL above, but when I click "view in iTunes"
ONLY the Just Love Walking Show description appears but NO podcast episode.
1. Will the episode appear within the next day or so?
Or is there a problem that I need to investigate & remedy?

2. Can I make changes to the iTunes category in the future? Currently it just shows "amateur" when I was hoping it would show "Sports & Recreation" the higher level category. Can I change that in my iTunes podcast description at the feed level in my feed provider's account (Libsyn).

OK, I just did a search for the Just Love Walking Show iTunes on google and was linked to my iTunes podcast show page where I finally DID see and was able to play my first (and only) podcast!! Hurray!!
I viewed it from: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/just-love-walking-show/id733590672 and then linked to iTunes. I also could see the same display of the episode from a search inside of iTunes.
BUT...my podcast cover artwork did NOT show up in iTunes! The cover artwork has been displaying beautifully for several days in iTunes and I have NOT changed anything in Libsyn to effect any changes. My Libsyn feed is: http://justlovewalking.libsyn.com/rss
Also I just checked my own website and the podcast cover art continues to display wonderfully well for my Libsyn Wizard player embeded links on my site: http://www.justlovewalking.com/ . So what could the problem be now? My cover artwork fulfills the iTunes requirements (RGB color, 1400x1400, HD quality, etc) and as I said, has displayed on iTunes for several days!
I hope this will sort itself out soon! I'd like to be able to start promoting my podcast and to be able to tell people that I'm listed on iTunes (with cover art that I've been very careful to create correctly for iTunes).

My 20 Cinema display won't show up after years of pairing perfectly. How do I get it to show up?

I just plugged my cinema display into my MBP13 and I cannot see it. I disconnect and reconnent the display when I travel, and it has worked for years.
In system preferences underr display it does not show up. I tried booting from a differenct drive and it shows up just fine. Unfortunately I don't want to work from a remote USB drive. I've run disk utility just in case there was a permissions issue. I've disconnected and reconnected the DVI adapter as well as display port connection. I've also simply restarted a couple of times. Any ideas about how to get this to work? I know the display is fine because I can see it when I boot from an alternate drive. I don't get it. Please help!!!

I have pc with itunes loaded on seperate hard drive and can't find all music some from ripping in wav files won;t show but any and all i've downloaded from itunes store are there what,s up/ /?

Having trouble getting my music from seperate hard drive. Recently tried to have my new laptop see and play itunes on my wireless server, but not all music showed up, and now my music on my pc doesn't show all music either. Some wav files from ripping off cd, and some I've imported from windows media show up and all mp3 bought from store is there. But more than half is listed at bottom of library as unknown artist, unknown album etc.. WHATS UP!!!!

try backing up the adresses on a different computer.
1) connect iphone to computer
2) in itunes click "enable disk use"
3) locate the files in the iphone hard drive
4) copy and paste them on that computer
if it does wipe out your adress library, just revert to the backup. Although i don't know where the files will be on your iphone hard drive.

24" LED Display won't light but other functions all work

My 24" LED Display suddenly won't light (it flashes the desktop once in a while). The sound, the USB ports, and the Magsafe power all work. It's just the display that isn't functioning. 1) Is there a fix? 2) Will Apple take on the repair for the $400 fixed repair fee? Thanks

I have the same display and mine burned out on the same day as yours. I wonder if our displays were made at the same time and the backlights are all reaching EOL. It is somewhere over four years old (discontinued in 2010); one year after support runs out if it is tied to a computer purchased with Apple Care (I did this for my Airport Time Capsule). I used my display a lot as I work from home. It never occurred to me the backlight would burn out.
My question specifically is the cost of replacing the backlights. How much is it? Is it worth it? The current Dell Ultra Sharp 24" monitor is about $500 and is better resolution and color. If I could afford it, I would buy the Retina iMac, just for the display, although the computer is pretty hot too;-).

Display dies, processes stop, but fan is still running?

I was computing like usual, IMing, listening to music in iTunes, and surfing FireFox, and suddenly the music turned off and my display turned off. I moved my mouse around but nothing happened. I could still hear it making noises. I just pressed the power button and it came back on to a black and white screen. The screen was exactly what I was doing when the display turned off. The loading bar filled, and each process started as the color wheel went around and around.
I became concerned when it happened again 10 minutes later. So I shut down entirely, and it's been OK for the last 20 minutes. Does anyone know what's up? I can't afford to have this baby serviced.

Well, I now can say that that's also what happened to my 8800 GT.
I finally received the ATI Radeon HD 4870 and after I've installed it, I was able to boot the Mac Pro on Windows (I got the PC version of the card so it needs to be flashed before it can be used with Mac OS X) and this time, everything went fine; I tried the games I've had problems with earlier and they all ran perfectly.
I then successfully flashed the Radeon so it's now compatible with Mac OS X and Windows, but I still have a power problem: the card is sold with two Molex-to-PCIe cables whereas only micro PCI-e connectors are available on the Mac Pro. There's the option to use the SuperDrive's Molex connectors but there're only two of them and four are supposedly required (see note below) to sufficiently power the card. This means the picture is scrambled in Mac OS X and when trying to boot on Windows, a blinking power error message is displayed onscreen and booting stops.
Note: in the Radeon manual, it says (with nice illustrations) that the card requires two full PCI-e cables and that Molex-to-PCI-e adapters aren't supported, *although the card is sold with two of these unsupported cables ONLY!* However, before flashing the card, Windows booted successfully with those two cables so I don't quite understand the logic behind all this...
Anyway, I've ordered the missing full PCI-e cable (I already have the one that came with the NVidia card) on eBay (amazingly, this cable is impossible to find in France!) When I receive it, I'll post a final message in this thread to let you know if my problems are now solved.

2012 Macbook won't start but fan maxes out

I cam home today after 4 day travelling. The Macbook was turned off while I was away with no power connected. When I tried to start it today the power light flashes (not slow blink) about every 3 seconds and the fan runs full but nothing starts up.
I have done PRAM, SMC reset, disconnected and reconnected the battery, reseated the ram modules. Nothing has worked. What am I missing?

do a reset, hold down the home/power button until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
