Ibook g4 video capabilities

my video is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 , and i would like to know if it could be improved from 32mb to 128mb. But i got one thing in my mind, i think the video is not shared, its dedicated. Could it be possible to make it shared video memory, because i got 1gb of memory on my laptop.
thank you for reading

Sorry, but the only way to replace the iBook's video sub-system would be to completely replace the logic board. The video chips & RAM are integrated into the logic board. Since Apple has never released an iBook with a video card with 128MB, there won't be anything to replace your current logic board with. It is not possible to share the system RAM with the video RAM on a Mac.

  • ITunes not recognising iPod's video capabilities

When iTunes is up and the iPod is connected and I go into the options for the iPod, the options in the Video tab are shaded out. Whenever I try dragging a video onto the iPod it says they can not be viewed on this iPod. I KNOW this is a 5th Gen iPod with video capabilities.

You need to add the video to iTunes first, and then synch with the iPod. I don' think you can simply drag a video directly to the iPod.

  • Ibook G4 video adapter - wrong one?

I have a ibook G4 (purchased summer 2005) and recently bought the Mini-DVI to Video Adapter (part M9319G/A). The connector does not fit in my ibook's video output port. What adapter should I get? what part number works with my ibook to display my screen onto a TV? I thought I bought the correct adapter but obviously didn't.

You're after a mini-VGA to video adapter, not a mini-DVI (I believe). It should be listed in the Apple Store as "Apple Video Adapter". Just make sure it's mini-VGA.

  • Midrange DSLR Camera with Video Capabilities?

So I'm a soon-to-be graphic design graduate. Up until now I've (1) Used school cameras (2) Commissioned photographers or (3) Used stock photography. However, I'm planning to move abroad to Japan in a few months, and I think I ought to invest in at least a midrange camera (rather than the cheap point-and-shoot that I use for vacation photos.) I'm also quite interested video blogging, and since I'm also investing in the Adobe Master Suite and will have After Effects, I'd like something with decent video capabilities as well.
My design style tends to rely on illustration more than photography, but I'm looking for the best my budget can get me. I could possibly stretch it to $600, but ideally $500 or $550 would be the most I'd spend. Also, perhaps a Sony, Nikon, or Canon would be best since if I ever need repairs, a Japanese repair shop would be familiar with the make/model.
So, what do you guys suggest?

I happily mix video taken with my Canon G1X compact with video taken on an XF300 and 1DMK4.  It also takes amazing stills.  The biggest problem the video is that while it looks great straight out of the camera, it is nowere near as robust as the 50MB/s foot age from the XF300 if it need a lot of post processing.
The Canon 6D looks interesting.  Full frame is big advantage for video, and it is a lot cheaper than the 5D range.  DPReview has a nice review but it mentions moiré artifacts with video in its Conclusions
The thing I like about my G1X is that it is small enough to be always available.  Try Google for Charlie Waite Compact to see what a really good photographer can do with a samll camera.

  • End user ability to disable/enable video capabilities

Customer is using Cisco IP phones (79XX) and CUVA for video.
When they don't want to use video for a specific call, they just turn off video at the beginning of the call, but in this case they still get a black screen.
Is there any way to prevent this black screen from appearing when the call is just an audio call?
If the only way is disabling video capabilities in the device, is there any way in which the end user can do it without contacting administrator?
    Thanks in advance.

I and others answered a similar question only  yesterday.
There are also many other similar posts and it is advised we first check out "our"  problem by doing a search.
I also  suggest you download "iBookstore Asset Guide 5" its a pdf and contains all the  information you  ask for.

  • Have problems to get video capabilities(vendor config) of phone if Override Common Settings not checked

    Hi,
I try to get video capabilities(vendor config) by using following Query:
    CUCM Version 8
    Tables (depands of size):devicexml4k, devicexml8k,  devicexml16k
    Query
    SELECT
         devicexml4k.xml
    FROM
         device, devicexml4k
    WHERE
         device.pkid = devicexml4k.fkdevice
    AND
         device.pkid = "pkid_of_phone';
    Phone Configuration
If the checkbox Override Common Settings next to Video Capabilities is checked, then i get my video capabilities. Otherwise i don't get them.
The method getPhone outputs the same result.
    My Question
-Do you know in which table in the database I can find the default settings for the video capabilities for the phone?
-or any ideas how I can solve the problem?
    Thanks,
    Sergej

I just experienced an issue with a customer, unless I checked in the box to Override Common Settings, the video capabilities on the phone devices was still defaulted to NO.
What is "Override Common Settings"?  It is available to select under "Enterprise Phone Configuration", under "Common Phone Profile, and under the device settings of a phone.  What does it actually do?
    Thanks

  • IBook G4 video out to MacBook video out

Anyone know of a port adaptor so I don't have to toss all my iBook vidya cables and buy all new stuff? The G4 video out port is smaller than the port on my current MacBook and there's nothing in the Apple Store. Customer service said I'd need a small adaptor from someone like Belkin but looking around has been really frustrating. Especially since the dude at Apple said he couldn't tell me how many pins the difference is.
EDIT: The iBook is a mini VGA 13 pin port and the MacBook is a mini DVI 32 pin port.

I tried the store and they told me to try Belkin. The short version is that I want to watch web content on my TV. With my G4, the output was thru a mini-VGA port. The port on my MacBook is a larger mini-DVI port so none of my G4 adaptors and cables work any more.
I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a MacBook to TV adaptor (they usually ship with a new machine but mine is second-hand) and replacing the other Monster cables I bought so I was looking for a cheap way to link my old mini-VGA stuff to the mini-DVI port on my MacBook. It would be a male/female type adaptor.

  • How to send my iBook's video to RCA-in? (Not THAT again!)

Yes, it's the cursed question, asked one too many times! I'm not going to let that stop me, because my situation is very specific, and I haven't been able to find the answer by searching the forums.
I'd like to output video from my iBook G4 to a projector that needs RCA-in (the three little colored plugs).
I have the video adapter that came with my iBook. It plugs into my mini-AV port, but the other end of the adapter cable is... what? I don't know what it's called, but it's 15-pin and will not go into my projector. (Is this called SVGA?)
I'm looking for an adapter that is 15-pin female on one end (to mate with the Apple adapter), and RCA male on the other end (to go into the projector). Can anyone point me in the right direction? (I've been searching RadioShack.com but am losing my mind amidst the dazzling variety of plugs and adapters there.)
I've also heard that I'll need an audio Y-cable (to go from my headphone jack to the projector's audio-in). Your help and advice much appreciated!

You just need a VGA to RCA breakout cable, one like this should work
    http://www.digitalconnection.com/Products/Cables/SCVM3R.asp
or just type in "vga to rca breakout" to get a plethora of results, (you probably want to convert to a X3 RCA not X5)As far as the Y adapter goes it kidof depends on you set-up but that probably would be the easiest and most dynamic solution

  • IBook Clamshell video out modification

I recentley purchased an iBook Clamshell with out video out and I really need video out. I was wondering if I was to replace the sound board in my graphite ibook with the video board from a key lime ibook would it enable me to use video out. Also if I was to take the DVD drive out of my e sytem could I then burn DVD's on my clamshell ibook.

    Highly dubious.
They are fairly inexpensive these days. Why not buy the one that meets your needs?

  • IBook G4 video streaming problem

I wasn't quite sure which forum to post this in, so I chose this one because it's kind of an internet related problem.
Anyway, whenever I stream a video over the internet on my iBook G4 (1.33GHz 12" version) using either Safari or Firefox the processor temperature rapidly increases from around 50 degrees celsius (122 F) to 63.5 C (146.3 F) causing the fan to activate.
When watching a video saved on my hard drive the temperature barely increases, it just seems to be when I stream them online.
Any ideas as to why the processor gets so warm so quickly when streaming a video?

  • Ibook G4 video

What's your best guess? I have an Ibook G4 1.2ghz that has video problems. Sometimes starts up fine then goes to a grey screen. Other times won't start unless I do a pmu reset. Video can hold for awhile then either goes grey or I get the lines. So video cable or chip?

    Den Ho:
My best guess is the soldering on the video chip. The iBook G4 (and G3) are known for logic board issues arising from problems with logic board soldering. One of those is the video chip. Richard (spudnuty) who posts here has extensive experience with logic board issues. Hopefully he will be along.
Your best bet, if, indeed, it is a video chip issue is to have the logic board reballed. Superior Reball has a good reputation in this forum, from those who have had this work done.

  • Is it possible to speed up an iBook's video speed?

    Hiya -
I've got an iBook G4, 1.2 GHz, OS 10.4.11, 125 gb HD, 1.2 GB RAM, usual 32 MB vram.
Thing is, the video speed isn't quite what it used to be. YouTube vids used to run just fine, about 2-3 years ago. Now, of course, it's choppy at best. Ditto Hulu and pretty much any other online video.
I seem to recall something from years and years ago, back in the Classic days, of how you could let the graphics use regular RAM to supplement the vram, something like that - the end result being that it would play smoother than before, kind of a speed bump for the video.
Or maybe I'm thinking of something else.
Anyway, I was wondering if there's a way to do something like that in OSX, artificially increase the capability and speed of the video playback.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

As far as I know, there's nothing you can do.
You may want to try other browsers and see if performance improves.
Hulu is very resource intensive, and even my MacBook and my mother's 6-month old Toshiba notebook sometimes struggle with videos there.
The issue is that these websites use Adobe's Flash plug-in to deliver the audio & video, and Flash is becoming more and more resource hungry as the years pass. Your iBook just isn't up for the task.

  • IBook to video projector

In the past I have connected my iBook G4 to a video projector with the video adapter cable using an RCA cord from the adapter to the "video in" of the projector. The projector automatically recognizes the input and it works.
The past two times I have tried to use the same set up, it will not work. The video is not recognized by the projector. It works fine with the VGA(?) connector, but we are using two laptops and one needs to be plugged in via the Video In port on the projector.
Am running 10.4.6. Don't know if any OSX software updates are the problem or not. (I only need to do this kind of connection occassionaly, so I don't really know when the problem began.)
    Anyone have any ideas???
I've tried using an RCA to S video cord, but the projection is blurry.
    Thanks

    iBook G4, powerbook TiG4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I used to have a similar problem with any mac on my last hospital, it was weird, because the macs (about 25-30% of residents used macs there) didn't worked with the projector, and the Hospital's Vaios did worked on the same setting without a problem.
Finally I was able to track down the problem to a faulty cable that somehow the vaios could use, and the Macs couldn't (it was all twisted and it was very old). When we replaced the cable, every mac (and of course, every other computer) worked again with that projector.
My point is, you should check with another VGA cable, before blaming the video adapter or the videoport of the computer.
    Good luck.
