Ibook no longer recogonizes shuffle
i've been using my shuffle since march of last year without problems, and last week my ibook would no longer recognize my shuffle. is this the end?
before the battery drained completely, the lights on the ipod were still working and i could still listen to music. my ibook acknowledged my other ipod, however, when i plugged my shuffle into my usb it would not charge and itunes did not respond. i tried reinstalling the ipod updater software, but it would not recognize my ipod.
eight months seems like a short battery life. i used it strictly on an average basis. I would let the battery drain completely, then charge fully. this only had to be done about once a week.
should i just accept my loss and move on?
I don't have a specific fix but this generalized fix seems to take care of most problems for me. Download Cocktail, Onyx or MainMenu then run Rebuild Launch Services database, the maintenance (cron) scripts, clean all caches then Repair Permissions and restart.
To test it don't keep restarting, that's extra wear and tear on the computer, just put it to sleep and wake it or log out then back in.
If that doesn't work get Disk Warrior and rebuild the directory.
And if that doesn't work do an archive and install then one big upgrade.
But don't go past running one of those three utilities until you see if someone has a better fix for you. It might be as simple as trashing a preferences file.

The latest version of iBooks in the App Store will not work with iOS 5.1.1.

HT4059 Ibooks no longer works for bookmarks on IPAD 2 since IOS 7 Upgrade
Since upgrading to IOS7 on my Ipad 2, the booksmark feature in IBooks no longer works. If you close the book and reopen it will take you back to the beginning of the book. Very difficult to read a book and keep track of where I left off. Since the upgrade, I have not read a book on my IPad and this has been painful. Starting to wonder if they will fix the issue or if I need to move onto another device such as the Surface or Galaxy 10.
My Iphone 5 (6.1.3) was working perfectly with my Apple tv3, streaming videos, musica...
I have just upgraded both and....No AIRPLAY, Both connected, both with internet conexion but my apple tv somehow does not work properly (my ipad retina does not pick the ATV neither)
I have restarted it three time as well as conected it to itunes to restore it 3 o 4 times now...
Just getting bored...
I have restarted the router too (oddly enough someone, somewhere suggested it) but no luck so far.

IBook no longer asking for a password when waking from sleep or screensaver
My iBook was fine until I installed the Security Update 2006-002 via software update. After the "required" reboot (reboot #1) everything functioned as normal.
On a subsequent reboot (#2) and several other reboots trying to correct the problem (#3-#5) I've found that my iBook no longer asks for a password when coming out of the screensaver, or when waking from sleep.
Yes, I have checked the security pref panel every time and have ensured the checkbox is checked. I even Sudo'd the panel just to be sure.
I downloaded the aforementioned security update and re-applied it. It corrected the problem during the same "required" reboot (#1), but after rebooting the computer a 2nd and 3rd time the problem has came up again.
I wish my iBook wasn't sick! Thanks, I tried searching as best as I could to see if this is a repost.

IBooks no longer sorts my PDF's by Categories
I've been tagging my PDF files for months with Name, Author and Categories.
But since upgrading to IOS5 / iBooks 2.0.1 (804) it seems iBooks no longer recognises my TAG's. Is anyone else noticing this?
I've also noticed that iBooks is now taking the title of the file name rather than the Tagged Name but when it's opened it show's the tagged name.
Very strange.
I've heard that if I re tag these in iTunes this will fix it. i.e. iTunes will now control how the file is tagged.
I've not been able to test this yet.
However this will mean I can't e-mail PDF's to people anymore and they sort correctly, I'd have to attach each iPad to a PC / Mac to sort. This seems to be a step backwards.
Anyone any advice or know of a fix?

DaveYes, the same problem with me. No more recognition of PDF tags by iBooks 2.0.1. Nobody seems to be replying on this issue as well. It has something got to do with iOS5 or iBooks 2.0.1.

IBooks no longer shows cover art
For some reason IBooks no longer shows the cover art for titles on te bookshelf
In fact some of them don't even give the title of the book.
It also takes a long time now to load.
Any help is appreciated.I tried this and it appears to have worked. I made sure that I synced all the books in iTunes then using iTunes I unchecked the iBooks app for syncing and then re-synced with itunes. I then deleted the iBooks app in itunes. I then checked to make sure that there was not any iBooks app in the iTunes/apps folder using finder. I then downloaded the iBooks app for iPad and re-synced my iPad and all the proper covers should up properly.

My iPod Nano no longer randomly shuffles
All of a sudden, my iPod Nano no longer moves randomly to the next song, but repeats the same song over and over. I have to manually "shuffle." The shuffle indicator does not seem to activate. Any advice?

On Music app using Genre option the "Shuffle All" no longer really shuffles all??
Since the newest iOS update while playing music on my iPhone 4S using the Genre option I no longer have the option to Shuffle everything in that genre. The Shuffle option only shuffles each artist's songs in that genre. Same on my iPad now, too! Is it actually now not an option or just hidden somewhere?

In Safari ( & Mail) Prefs > "Advanced" we thought the 2nd checkbox down could enable-disable the ability to use the Tab key to skip around only to Text Fields.
The functionality we were looking for actually resides in Sys Prefs > Keyboard Shortcuts . . . at the radio button at the bottom of the window . . . *Could the functionality be put in the Safari > Prefs > Advanced ??? *
* We couldn't figure this out for about 2 weeks . . . was pretty frustrating; esp. for a long-time user like me who really is into keyboard commands! Safari was tabbing to every single button on the page, which slowed down productivity . . .

Orange light constantly blinking; computer no longer recognizes shuffle
I just purchased an IPod Shuffle, connected it to my MAC, downloaded podcasts and was waiting for it to fully charge. It charged, but I left the Shuffle in the docking station. Now, it has been blinking orange for 24 hours and the device no longer appears in my I Tunes account or on the computer. All the instructions say not to disconnect when it is blinking. I have restarted the computer and did a cold boot. Nothing. Any suggestions. I would like to try the thing out.
Just disconnect and reconnect. If that dosn't work, disconnect, reboot, reconnect.
Or jusr disconnect, play music and then reconnect after a reboot... -
Ibook app no longer works since trying to download the latest update. Just bought a book on Cancer treatments for $10 now l can't finish reading it. What happens now??

My IPod, Nano will no longer shuffle the tunes, instead it simply plays one tune over and over, can anyone help me fix this problem?
It sounds like the repeat setting has been enabled. See page 21 of your iPod's User Guide for instructions on turning it off.

Why does my iPhone 4 no longer display shuffle/loop option in my music?
I can no longer shuffle my music. The icons no longer appear under song title/artist. I don't know why this occurred all of a sudden. It makes it difficult to enjoy my music while driving.
The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

In MM02 I had taken the material T-BBD09,and select views i selected Basic Data1 and executed its taking very long time to open its going to time out after 1 hr,how to rectify the same to open.

1.07Ghz G4 iBook no longer boots...
I've owned my iBook G4 for a year and two months, and never had a problem until two days ago.
The screen scrambled and then went dark, and I tried restarting it with the keyboard (power button, return key in the hopes that it would do a nice reboot), but got nothing. The backlight was still on, but the screen was otherwise dark. Held down the power button to shut down, and rebooted. Everything seemed fine, but then later the screen spontaneously went black again, no visible scramble beforehand. Force shutdown, reboot, and it happened again later, at which point I did a backup of my critical files.
The next day, it ran fine for most of the day actually. At the end of the day, it started happening again.
I tried a standard PRAM clear (command-option-P-R on boot) - still blacked out. Later I went into Open Firmware and did the reset-nvram, set-defaults, reset-all - still blacked out. And then I reset the power manager with control-option-shift power button - still blacked out. I gave up for the night.
Today it won't boot. No chime, just the fan running full speed constantly, nothing on the screen. I can power it off only by removing the power cord and taking out the battery, or (oddly enough) by pressing control-option-shift power button (just holding down the power button does nothing).
Since Apple has no warranty extension on this model of iBook, what are my options at this point, and does anyone have any suggestions? I use this computer every day.Aug 04' is when i bought my ibook. i had the same problem. the Logic Board is toast. send it back to mac pay +/- 300$ for a new board and fan (if you are outta warranty), then expect to send it back a year later when it fails again.
I hope mac will extend the seral numbers to cover later ibooks that have the same logic board issues. there is no reason for a failure after 12-16 months of buying a new computer/laptop. this seems like a common problem..... -

Basic situation is this. I was running 10.5.3 perfectly well on my iBook G4 1.33ghz/1gb RAM. One day it didn't want to wake from sleep so I had to hold the power button down to power it off then back on. It started up as normal except that the menu bar had become translucent again (in 10.5.3 I had chosen to turn that stupid 'feature' off). But now the tick box is missing from the Desktop & Screen Saver pref pane, and even re-installing Leopard and updating to 10.5.3 then 10.5.4 from scratch has not bought the box back. Any idea what on earth has happened and how I can fix this? It passes the Hardware Test CD perfectly. It's as though it now thinks my Mac isn't capable of supporting that setting (when I add a Dashboard widget the ripple still happens for example).

This is a big NONO. You essentially crashed your OS by forcing it off while it was running. Yes, sleeping is running.
Your OS is damaged.

Run the DU and repair your HD and permissions.
If that does not help, boot into the safe mode (hold down shift key on boot) and when you get to the login screen click on restart.
It could simply be a corrupt .plist file.
In the worse case, you can reinstall your OS previous to your forced crash using your TM backup.
