Ibook organization

I have about a thousand or so documents in Ibooks.  I know how to create a Collection and move documents into the collections.  The problem is there is no way to know if you have put all your specific documents into that particular collections, as when you go back to ALL all documents are still listed there.  I know that is why it says ALL but there is no way to tell if you missed putting one of them into a collection without looking in a specif collection, then going back to all, then back.  Way too much work.  I would like a additional button that says something like "only show files not in a collection".  It would be much easier to organize files. If anyone knows of a better solution please let me know.

There should be no need to zero the hard drive.
Using the Restore discs that came with the iBook when it was new, restore the system software using the appropriate instructions which you can find through a link contained in this Apple Knowledge Base article:

Good luck with it.

  • How to edit & organize pdf's in iBooks?

How does one edit title and authors in list view of pdf's in iBooks, and then organize them into catagories, and name catagories?

Actually, you can retitle PDFs from within iBooks on the iPad itself.  See my post at
Can I edit title of PDF in iBooks?
Maybe that will help you or someone else with a similar question.

  • Can I organize my books on iBooks for Yosemite?

    Hi,
I want to know how to organize my books on iBooks for Yosemite editing the details of each book.
I wantt to edit some features like name of the books, genre, collections and other things. In Mountain Lion this was possible but in Mavericks or Yosemite I can't do this anymore.
    Someone can help me?
Thanks and forgive my poor english

When you see the book, does it indicate you have already purchased it? If not, then yes, it is a different edition and you would need to repurchase to get that cover (not sure why you would want to do that, but ok).
If it indicates you already own it, you could try deleting it from iBooks and redownloading, I suppose.

  • HT5544 I want to re-arrange my ibooks collection, on the help menu organize button is not displayed

I looked for some answers about this issue, on the mac forum i found a forum that states that on the help menu, there is an organize books or something button, well, that doesnt appear on my mac, i need some help please.

You can organise books into collections. To create a new collection select File > New Collection (rename it if you wish). Select Books in the Sidebar and select a book Control Click > Add to collection.
I hope this makes sense and that it relates in some way to what you are trying to achieve.

  • How do I organize books into collections in iBooks?

I would like to know how to go about organizing books and pdf documents into Collections on my iPad. The iPad Use Guide i have reviewed gives no explanation. the iBooks support web page merely says it can be done, but does not explain how. Thanks for your help on this.

On the bookshelf in the iBooks app, tap the Edit button at the top right of the screen, then tap the book(s) that you want to put into a collection so that they get a tick on their bottom right corner (tap a book again to deselect it), and then tap the Move button at the top left of the screen - you should then be able to move them into a existing collection, or tap the New button on the pop-up to create a new collection to put them in.
To then view a collection tap the Collections button at the top left of the bookshelf (or you might be able to swipe/drag across the bookshelf to scroll through your collections).

  • PLease walk me through removing ibooks.  I hate what it did to my textbooks and organization on my MACbook pro

Ibooks basically stoe all of my books on my computer and is holding them hostage.  I dislike this app and want the choice of what type of App I use for my purchased books.  Please help me remove this app.
    Thanks

What exactly do you mean by "holding them hostage"?
But in short, no. If you wish to itunes purchased books (at least those that are DRM protected) on a MBP, you will need iBooks. There is no other option. The same basically holds true for any source of DRM protected eBooks, be it Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, etc.

  • How do you use a different form of payment on iBooks than the one on the family sharing account?

With family sharing, the Family Organizer is the only one that can pay for items in iBooks and other stores. Is there a way to use your own individual form of payment instead?

Archive the contacts you have in Address book, then delete them, they will be removed from iCloud as well. Restore the archive

  • How to share an Adobe Organizer collection?

We have a library of standard pdf pages that we need to combine from time to time in different ways and then output as a single pdf document for email or print. This library is constantly being updated.
I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and have been using the Organizer to create collections and then combine for output.  This seems like the ideal tool because the source pdfs can be updated independantly and so at any given time I know my collections will always contain the current files.
However, what we really need is for several users on the network to have access to these same collections.  Is this possible? If not, what would be the correct method?
I'd be grateful for any advice.  Thanks

Unless both ipads were set up with the same Apple ID, there really isn't.
This does depend on the app however. I don't read iBooks, but there are some e-reader apps like Kindle that may allow you to 'loan' the book to someone else. Or, using an e-reader app, the book can be 'checked out' of a library that supports downloaded books. You have an account, 'borrow' the file, use an e-reader app to read it, and have a certain time frame in which to finish reading.

  • How can I import photos from iPhoto '09 to Elements Organizer 10 while keeping the tags attached?

I have spent a ridiculously long time tagging photos in my iPhotos but I would now like to transfer all my photos to Elements Organizer and preserve all the work I had done.
From Adobe's help website (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/elementsorganizer/using/WS73c05ee9864270ea-417df45c129593bfa05 -8000.html) it says I can import the tags along with the photos but does not explain how:
"Elements Organizer 10 supports importing photos, along with their associated captions, tags, and ratings, from iPhoto. You also have the option to import information such as events and albums to maintain the organization of your library"
When I follow the steps outlined on the website my photos are imported but there are no tags attached to them. I am particularly interested in keeping my facial tags but I suppose it would be useful to know how to keep other keyword tags and ratings as well.
There was a previous question put out on the forums similar to this but it was unresolved and the person decided to just leave everything in iPhoto. I really would prefer to transfer all my photos to Elements Organizer. I don't like the way iPhoto organizes photos but I had to deal with it for several years before I bought Elements Photoshop with built-in Organizer.
    Please Please help!
    Many thanks
    D.M.

You don't import one library to another.  Just copy the library from the iBook to the Pictures folder on shout new MacBook Pro. If you have another library already on the MBP rename it so you don't overwrite it with the old library.
Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and select the newly copied library and let iPhoto convert it to the new version.
Do you have photos in the library on the new MacBook Pro that you want to combine with the older library?

  • Can members of a family group use their own credit card or payment method other than the Family Organizer's credit card?

In Family Sharing, is the Family Organizer's credit card the only method of payment for all family members? Or can family members also pay with their own credit card?

    Hello Trisa295,
Family sharing payments are all managed by the Organizer, and only the billing information on that account can be used to pay for an iTunes purchase. Take a look at this info from the following article:
    Family purchases and payments
With Family Sharing, one adult in the family—the family organizer—agrees to pay for any iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases that other family members initiate while they're part of the family group. This also includes ongoing subscription purchases initiated by family members, such as iCloud storage, iTunes Match, and Newsstand subscriptions.
If the members of the Family have credits or have iTunes Gift cards redeemed, that balance gets used first so an option you all have is to apply iTunes credit in some way to these member accounts:
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • How can I create a new folder within IBooks

    Hi,
I want to have two separate folders in IBooks - Books and Papers. However, I am unable to find an option in Itunes to do this. Ideally I would like to organize my files and books within Itunes and sync it with Ipad IBooks. Any ideas?

Just like you would create a new folder anywhere. Open the drive's icon from your desktop or the Finder, and click shift-command-N. (Or use the Finder menu if you prefer - File - New Folder).
If you can't create a folder, your drive may be the wrong format (you can't write to a Windows/NTFS formatted drive, for example). You'll have to back up any files you have on there, and then use Disk Utility to reformat it to Mac Extended (if it will only be used on a Mac) or MS-DOS format (if you want to share it with a PC).

Well where is your library located now if not in the iTunes folder?  See the links below on what your iTunes folder should look like and put it back together:

  • Changes made to a pdf file (i.e. adding a text box) are not visible in iBooks but work OK in other programs like docs to go?

Anyone know why that is or how to correct it?

Thanks, Demo, I'll give that a shot. On the other hand, I really don't want to have some files in iBooks and other ones in Adobe Reader. If Adobe Reader will let me organize them in folders, it might be a great solution.
However, there's no ".pdf management" involved here. It's simply "Read the #%€\#^% .pdf file I gave you" and there is nothing to "manage". Whatever opinions Apple has about Adobe, .pdf is a fact of life and should not require any handstands and backsprings just to read a file. (Are you listening, Apple?) I refinanced my home with .pdf files; print it, sign it, scan it, e-mail it back. (OK, calm down, it'll be all right... Sigh...)
Whatever the result, I'll report back.
    Thanks again.
