  • Cover page on iBook pdf files

How can one set their iBooks to automatically place a cover page on pdf files?  On startup, my iBooks will display my pdf files with a cover page, like the ones used on books, then removes them to display the first page of the pdf. Having the cover page would make identifying the document easier than having to enlarge the file to read the text.

    Hi and welcome.....
. I've NOT upgraded the iOS at all,
You're having problems with iBooks as a result of not updating your iPad software.
    Read here:
iBooks requires 4.2 iBooks: Viewing, syncing, saving, and printing PDFs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
"iBooks 1.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch requires iOS 4.2 or later."
Connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Under the Summary tab click: Check for Update

  • IBooks - PDF Files that a reader can highlight and write notes in?

    Hi,
I would like to create a PDF file in Adobe Acrobat in Windows that a reader can highlight the text in and write notes. Is this possible? I can get it to show bookmarks and such, but the other two things would be great to be able to do.
    THANKS!

The point is to be able to use the iBooks functionality.
iBooks doesn't have the functionality you want. Here is a chart that may be useful.

  • How to recover PDF files from iCloud to iBooks?

After iOs 5.1 upgrade I can't recover my iBooks PDF files. I made a wifi backup to iCloud before the upgrade but I can't recover them. In backup options iBooks says(584MB).I think the 584 MB is proportional to the ammount of PDF files that i had prior iOS 5.1. Please help!!!. People I need your help those files are important. Everything is turned ON in iCloud Settings.
Again when i go to iCloud>Storage & Backup > Manage Storage > My Name iPad --------> It says bellow Next Backup Size iBooks 584 MB

Thanks - I've gone into settings on my iPad for both iCloud and iBooks and can't see any settings that say that these PDF documents are/can be backed up there?
If I go into iBooks on my mac book (yes-running Mavericks) then I can see all the collection titles I've created to file these PDF's but none of the files underneath them?
The purchased ones from the iBooks store naturally show up but my other PDF's don't

  • I have an iPad 2, and I am sending PDF file to my iPad, via a Hotmail email. But, the PDF arrives to the iPad in Mail already opended, as a picture on the bottom of the email. Is there a way to prevent it from auto open, so I can open with iBooks instead?

I have an iPad 2, and I am sending PDF files to my iPad, via a Hotmail account. But, the PDF arrives to the iPad Mail account already opened at the bottom of the email. Is there a way to prevent this auto-opening of the PDF. I've seen screen shots with the box, and PDF listed inside the box, but mine open automatically. I want to get them into iBooks...?

I am having the same problem and it is even bigger.
When opening a 1-page PDF in iBooks and sending it via mail it is sent inline as preview, but the recipient cannot open the file anymore. Also on iPad and iPhone there is no "open in" possible.
Somehow the mail app does destroy the file. What is going wrong?

You should be able to just place them in your Books library in iTunes and check to ensure that your Book library is configured to sync to your iPod when you sync your iPod to iTunes.

  • PDF File in iBooks but all images blank?

Hi - I have imported a PDF file into iBooks (it is a tearsheet from a publisher of some of my photography that is published). I really need to see the images in this PDF, not just the text. I am hoping to use the iPad to show my portfolio - and this tearsheet is an important piece of this.
Any idea why the PDF would show only text, and not the images? Is there a standard format that is missing here - or some incompatibility? When I view the PDF on my mac, it works fine. on the iPad, none of the images are shown.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have had mixed success. In some of my PDFs the images show, in others there are missing. Most have been down loaded from the Web, so there is no information on how they were made. One that was generated by printing a powerpoint to PDF looks great. All of the PDFs that were processed by Acrobat to Reduce the File Size were NOT readable for versions 6 or higher. Only the version "5 and up" had visible images. Other Acrobat operations, such as remove hidden objects, did not mess up the images.
There appears to be a formatting disagreement between Apple and Acrobat for versions 6 and higher.
    good luck

Is ther some limit to the number of books or total storage used in IBooks?  Thanks....

    Hi jybravo70,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you may be experiencing issues on your non iOS 8 devices because iOS 8 is required to set up or join a Family Sharing group.
The following information is located in the print at the bottom of the article.
Apple - iCloud - Family Sharing
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • I am trying to upload my PDF file from my IBooks but its only giving me the option to upload from my pictures/gallery. How do I get it to where I can upload PDF files from my iBook or how do I transfer my PDF files to my pics?

I am trying to upload my PDF file from my iBooks but its only giving me the option to upload from my pictures/gallery. How do I get it so I can upload from my iBooks or move my PDF files to my gallery so I can upload it?

I'm having the same issue. I saved a PDF from an email into iBooks. I'm on apple applying for a job but the only option the upload button has is from the Photos file. How ironic right? Luckily I'm in Logistics and not an IT specialist applying for this job! Lol. Does anyone know the fix?

  • Is there any way to embed the pdf file in the book created in iBooks Author to make it available to be downloaded or sent to email? So that the user can print it out.

Is there any way to embed the pdf file in the book created in iBooks Author to make it available to be downloaded or sent to email?
I'm making the book for children and there is one chapter providing coloring pages. So I wish to attach pdf files that allow users to download it at the end of chapter so that  they can print it out. Been searching through discussion, I've found some advice about taking screen snapshot page-by-page > then send the pics from photo album to email. However, I'm wondering if there's a way that make the process easier.

Warehouse that PDF on your own server, then link to it from your book.

  • Why can't I access the PDF files stored in my iBooks without connecting it to internet ?

    Hi,
I have nearly 2000 PDF file documents which I have synchronized to iBooks from my DELL laptop.
All the PDF files are individually named as to make it easy for myself to search.
I took it outside in my show where i tried to access it, what I am seeing here is there are no documents appearing on my iBooks. I then connected it to my Mobile phone Internet where I could now see all the 2000 PDF files.
My question here is , if all these files are on the hard drive of my iPad, why do I have to always connect it to the internet to access. This is very difficult as some places where I travel are having very low network coverage. Please help me to sort this issue. Many thanks, Amit

  • How do I transfer PDF files from PC to IPAD using Itunes 12.1.2.  Previous versions let me drag file in Itunes to Ipad and files appeared under Ibook but can't get it to work in latest 12.1.2 version.

How do I transfer PDF files from PC (Windows 7) to IPAD using Itunes 12.1.2.  I would like to do files manually rather then auto synch.  Previous versions let me drag file in Itunes to Ipad and files appeared under Ibook and then I could move them to an appropriate collection title.  The interface appears to have changed in the latest ITunes version and I am not sure what the proper procedure is.

King_Penguin - Thanks it worked perfectly.  I had my pdf files copied into ITunes on my PC but when I clicked on a pdf file to copy it I thought the sidebar would appear with my IPAD name and then I would drag it over.  I didn't realize that I needed to click-and start dragging it towards the left-hand side for the sidebar to appear.  It worked like a charm - THANKYOU!!!

  • How do I open a PDF file with Adobe Reader if it is in iBooks

I have a number of PDF files in my iBooks library.  I just downloaded Adobe Reader for the iPad.  I can't see how I can open those PDF files.  The only thing I seem to be able to do with them is to open them from iBooks directly.  Doing that does not provide me with the features that Adobe Reader would provide (such as searching for particular text, etc.).

Use iTunes to save the PDF FROM iBooks, and to add them to Adobe Reader.
Connect your iPad to your computer. Bring up iTunes on your computer.
To save a PDF FROM iBooks, click on "Books" in the Library section on the left. Select the PDF you want to save and right-click and choose Show in Finder (Show in Explorer in Windows). Go up one level in your computer hierarchy and you'll see all the "Books" (PDFs and eBooks) in iBooks.  You can leave them here if you want to view the PDFs in iBooks in the future, or drag them to the Desktop.
To move the PDF TO Adobe Reader:
Return to iTunes. Click on the iPad on the left in Devices. Click on the Apps tab. Scroll down the the File Sharing section as shown below. Click on Adobe Reader. Click the Add button and select the PDFs you identified in the previous step. They'll be added to Adobe Reader
