Ibook PDF problems

Can someone help please. I have upgrade to a new Ipad but my PDF files in iBooks are not showing when I reinstall my profile from Itunes.

You're having problems with iBooks as a result of not updating your iPad software.
Read here:
iBooks requires 4.2 iBooks: Viewing, syncing, saving, and printing PDFs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
"iBooks 1.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch requires iOS 4.2 or later."
Connect your iPad to your computer. Launch iTunes. Under the Summary tab click: Check for Update

IOS4.2 iBooks PDF problem

Ever since I installed the new OS on both my iPad 3G 16GB and iPhone 4 32GB, there's a major problem with the PDF reader on iBooks.
The new PDF reader seems to distort some of the colours in PDFs, my piano certificate supposed to have yellow/gold logo and texts, but it's now all blue and weird. Also it can't render some of the text anymore, I use it as a music sheet, but on a piece "Kiss the rain" the title appears as rectangular blocks, the title is english therefore it's not a language problem.
Not only that, the speed at which iBooks render the PDFs is really really slow now, so if I flick to the next page, it takes about 4 to 5 seconds to get it up to full quality, whereas before it's almost instant, therefore I can't use it as music sheet anymore.
iBooks PDF reader were fine and really quick before I installed iOS4.2.1.
I reformatted my iPad and reinstall the OS but the problem persist, and it's not my iPad's fault since I tried it on my iPhone 4 as well.
Just wondering whether others have the same problem, if you found a solution please tell me.

A friend of mine owns an iPad 2 and has encountered the same problem - i.e., colors not appearing correctly in iBooks on iPad (but looks fine when opened from iTunes) - is there already a fix on this?
I just noticed that this thread ends November 2010. Is there any news or final fix for this particular problem? I've checked other threads about problems with PDFs on iBooks but this is the only thread that describes the actual symptoms my friend is encountering (all other issues talk about PDF files not showing up in the iBooks library on the iPad).

You're asking a lot of ancient Acrobat to work with an Office that never existed when it was made. "Just updated my office suite" is a massive change, and Window 8 didn't exist at that time either...

Can't transfer iBooks pdfs from first gen iPad to new MacBook Pro

I have a bunch of important pdf files on a first gen iPad (iOS 5.1.1) that I want to transfer to iBooks in a 13" MacBook Retina.
In iTunes, choosing Devices >Transfer Purchases from My iPad isn't moving them over. I've been able to transfer all the non iBooks pdfs from GoodReader, etc. In iTunes, I can see them in the Books section of "On This iPad" but can't do anything but view info.
In iBooks, choosing File >Move Books from iTunes isn't doing it either.
Syncing warns me that it's going to delete the iPad files.
I'd rather not pay for 3rd party software if I can avoid it.

No they're not in the iTunes library. Purchased titles transferred and a few other things but a bunch of DRM-free pdfs and DRM-free EPUBS won't Budge.

No. However, if I go a couple tabs further to the right, to "On This iPad" and select Books in the left column, they're all listed. I just can't do anything but view their info or rate them.

PDF problem part 2...

I guess a lot of people are having pdf problems.
When I export a pdf of a Travel Journal doc and view with adobe reader 7.0, the borders on the photos are not there.
What is the word on this?
As you can see I don't have Tiger /PDF-X.

Not certain if this is quite the same thing, but.......
I have found problems when exporting to pdf, not when I open in Preview but when the person I am emailing the file to opens it in Acrobat, as all drop shadows are then lost, this makes professional printing difficult.
Resolved it for the moment by:
1. exporting to pdf as normal
2. using Graphic Converter which comes bundled with OSX to create a PSD file and sending that electronically. Slight problem was that the size of the file increased from 3mb to about 27mb, so had to download a free copy of Cyberduck ftp programme too. In fact saving it to jpeg was just about as good.
3. you do have to do one page at a time but it works.

If you set up your email account(s) as IMAP instead of POP3, then each computer / smart phone can view the mail, but if any of them delete a message (or move it to another folder on the server), the same action will be seen on the other computers.

Quizás te aparezca un mensaje como este, pulsa en la opción que prefieras (en mi caso, renombro, en tu caso quieres combinar o trasladar a la nueva cuenta).
Tambien creo que debes actualizar tu aplicación de Creative Cloud a v. 1.3.0.322, Mira en el icono dentado arriba a la dcha. en Preferencias. Qué versión tienes?

Private, enterprise deployment + updating of iBooks, pdf's ... via app, or Profile Manager

We wrote our own iBooks and PDF's for an internal, enterprise deployment. We need to distribute them to iPad users and then manage them (updates, etc.). Due to the content, there is no need and little desire to make them publically accessible (post on a webpage, use Drobox, Box, etc.). We could put them on smartcard or password controlled site. They are quite large so emailing them is a pain. In these later cases, it then requires the user to manually download the file, then when an update comes along, delete the old and download the new (a big pain). It would be best to do this automatically at night.
We're using MacOS Server Profile Manager for our MDM, which can push self-created apps & webclips but not iBooks and pdfs. It would be great if PM could add/delete/update iBooks & PDFs iOS iBooks app ... like it can with apps & webclips.
Until then, what's the solution to manage senstive iBooks & PDFs?
Create one (or more) apps the we self-publish & distribute that contains the iBooks and PDF files? Then update the very large app?

What about using a WebDav? Download a 3rd party WebDav APP and go to the following URL on your server:
https://subdoamin.yourdomain.com/webdav/
You do have to enable the share for WebDav to do this in server app but it works great. We use it for iWork and pdf documents.

IBook PDF

Why doesn't my IBOOKS PDF library sync for my IPAD and IPHONE, I always have to copy to both?

There isn't an option to automatically copy PDFs or books between devices, you will need to copy them yourself. If you are using the Settings > iBooks > Sync Collections setting then that only keeps the collections on your devices in-line, it won't copy the PDFs or books between them e.g. if you have a PDF on both devices then if you move it into a collection on one device then with that setting 'on' it will into the same collection on the other device, but it won't copy it onto the device if it's not already on it.

Illustrator Save to PDF problems

I have Illustrator CS 14.0.0 and Acrobat Pro 9 (9.1.1 to be specific) extended and I cannot save the pdf format from Illustrator. I try over and over and it just does not work... it just locks up Illustrator forcing me to use the Windows XP task manager to kill Illustrator becuase it is simply frozen and I have no other options. The failure is happening with large and small files of any complexity. I would like to make use of the streamlined workflows in CS4... but his problem is big headache - especially if I would like to include special aspects of Illustrator features in the PDF file. The failure happen with save-as and with the basic save PDF. I was able to open (more or less like an import) the .ai file after saving from within Acrobat and that seems to be a work around for now. Is ther any updates for Acrobat or Illustrator to fix this save as PDF problem inside Illustrator CS4??

I am experiencing exactly the same problem as reported in this thread. I am using AI CS4. When I try to save to PDF the programme freezes making it necessary to use the task manager to kill it. I have been trying to identify the folders where the preferences are held but on this computer running windows xp the folder names do not match those in the thread. Is there a specific file name that I can search for?

Opening pdfs with ibooks ipad: problem

Hi,
I found that many people have this problem: opening a pdf (that's attached to an email) with ibooks, used to work perfectly.
And now it doens't anymore.
Sometimes (1 on 20 tries) it does work. Often the pdf lights up for a second in ibooks, and then disappears again.
I tried doing a reinstall as advised on many fora, but this doesn't help.
Any other ideas why this happens, and a solution?
It's a shame, cos it was such a fast way of working.

I have been experiencing this problem for over a month now. Seems a bug in iBooks. However, if I close the iBooks and then from email try to open the attachment from Email, it works. Having iBooks open gives this problem.

IBooks 3.0 vs 3.0.1 and 3.0.2 - pdf problem - constant indexing

Hello people,
I have recently been having a lot of problems with my iPad 2 and iBooks. I do use the tabet as a reader on a dily basis and I have a lot of scientific and personal documents which I have been storing on my wifi 64gbs iPad.
Everything used to work very well with iBooks version 3.0, in spite of the large quantity of documents on the tablet. Every time I was adding new material (3-4) documents the iPad was responding in a quick way. It would usually detect the new files in a matter of 1- 2 minutes maximum.
I can't say the same thing about iBooks version 3.0.1 or 3.0.2. After the upgrade of the application it starts indexing all the files, which is normal but it takes a very long time to complete the task. At the end of this extremely long procedure,If I add some additional documents (2-3), it seems like the iPad starts once again indexing the whole set of files taking forever to complete the task.
The usage of the battery is unbelivable as well, it started earlier this afternoon and afer hours it's not done yet.
Does anybody have had similar problems?
Any suggestions? I tried to reboot and restart the ipad but doesn't seem to help.
ps I'm using iOs 6.0.1 but it was the same way even before the update - i had problems since they relased the version 3.0.1 of iBooks and never used any jailbreak on this device

Same issue here. Haven't been able to Edit my sections/folders since the upgrade to v3. The 'busy' wheel has been rotating for months. Added a long rant about the problem into the iBooks feedback, but the subsequent revsions didn't fix the problem. Agreed, v2 iBooks was fine.
The problem gets worse as more and more PDF documents are added. What's even more ridiculous is that the 'indexing' process re-starts shortly after the iPad cover is opened. Every time the cover is opened. Every time. If nothing changed, why run the indexing process again? Bizarre. And ridiculous.
I bought the iPad as a book & document reader. This v3 upgrade ruined my experience, and my investment. Whatever cudos Apple held for me evaporated upon the realisation that this untested rubbish could reach global production.
I am so angry, upset, frustrated.

Problems with iPad 3G/32GB with iOS 4.2.1 and iBooks 1.2.1(335); no modifications like "Jailbreaked"
PDFs that shown up already in iBooks aren't anymore accessible after upgraded to the iBooks Ver. shown above. The PDFs still remain checked for Sync in the iTunes Section Books, in the device view.
I use collections to organize, mostly PDFs, in my library.
Interesting thing, most of my Books are PDFs purchased from O'Reilly's SafariOnline - these are still available!
PDFs like downloaded iPad UserManuel are not longer shown up in the Bookshelf (they do in iTunes as described above!).
Also the last three LinuxJournals are gone, the newest one just downloaded today is visible in the library as well as synced properly against iTunes.
So I would say its a strange behavior of the iBooks app.
I completely removed iBooks from iPad as well as iTunes, reinstalled it - issue still remaining the same, this still needed PDFs aren't available anymore.
Did anyone of you filled already a support case having the same issue as described above with Apple?

What version of iOS are you running?
What you are describing typically occurs with single page PDFs (but not always). You should still be able to tap and hold to get the menu that allows you to open the file in other apps, including iBooks.
