IBook say's it's connected to internet but it isn't...

Hi everyone,
I've been using an old iBook running os 9.2.1 and it is able to connect to every other wireless internet but the one in my house! I'm using DSL with a 2wire 2700HG-d router and the thing is, it used to connect fine until we had to reinstall os 9.2.1 and since it won't show up on my router settings page even though it says it is connected. I'm not sure how to really change settings in os 9 and am even less adept at changing router settings. I took it to an app store and the friendly people there installed mozilla and got it working at the store, and it works at my work, just not my house. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
edit: i just remembered that when i first got the computer it had some version of osx 10 on it, but when i recieved it i put my copy of os 9. could that be why it stopped working?

which iBook do you have (G3/xxx or G4/xxx)? Are you saying that the iBook came with OSX and you downgraded to 9 or are you just booting into classic? your signature thing says you are running 10.5, so I'm assuming that is on another machine.
On a side note, you should upgrade to 9.2.2. (I'm pretty sure it's free at this point) but I'm thinking that it might be the type of encryption you have set up on the router. You maybe have WPA and I think you might have to use WEP with OS9, not sure about that though. Have you rebooted router?

Check your router settings and see if you have Wireless QoS (WMM) enabled? If so, diable it. This fixed my problems, and had the benefit of speeding up my wifi in the process.

I was able to update my iPhone 4S to 6.1.1, BUT :: I could not update to 6.1.1. from my iPhone. I received the same message as everyone else saying that my iPhone was not connected to the Internet, which is was. (I was able to access my mail etc. via Internet.)
Instead I connected my iPhone to my computer via ITunes via the cable. I then downloaded the software on my computer and updated the iPhone from the computer. While I was downloading the software on to my computer, which is only connected to the Internet via ethernet, the same message as above appeared on my iPhone about not being connected to the Internet. I pressed cancel. The software continured to download on to the computer and then on the iPhone.

Let's see.... you don't install boot camp to begin with, you may be referring to downloading the Apple drivers.
Known issue and need to check and change proxy and network settings -- yu are still in mac OS X
You are in Windows and cannot connect to the internet ---- you are running Windows
The only time yu install is after Widnows is installed and then install Apple drivers which are
BOOTCAMP.msi or BOOTCAMP64.msi usually just run Setup.exe

I tried to setup Outlook 2007 to use my verizon.net email. Anyway I couldn't get it to work manually. So I downloaded VZ - In-Home Agent. Everytime I use it, it checks everything (network, wireless, router), when it gets to the point where it tries to have the router connect to the internet, the Agent says it can not connect to the internet. I am currently on the internet using that router. I disabled all firewall, virus scans, etc and it keeps saying "You do not have an internet connection."
I select fix it and the agent runs
"Fix my Fios Internet Connection"
It passes Browser health Check, wireless adapter, wired adapter, Checking Lan Connectivity,
Checking for internet connection of Fios Router. That fails and it tells me to reboot my OMT or something, it's the big FIOS box on my wall in the basement. I reboot it and follow the instructions. I then get this error:
A connection could not be established between your computer and the FIOS Router. You can also try the following:
1.Reboot your computer. (Did).
2.Check if you are able to connect to the internet using any other computers. (I can and I can with this one too)
Can someone help me?

Sounds like In Home Agent is bugging out.. I would ignore it and continue manually setting up + troubleshooting your Outlook 2007 account.
As you said, you're setting up your verizon.net email so the settings should be as follows:
incoming server: incoming.verizon.net (incoming.yahoo.verizon.net if you have the Yahoo portal partner)
outgoing server: outgoing.verizon.net (outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net if you're Yahoo)
Outgoing server requires authentication
Username/pass for your Verizon account
Ports are default (110 + 25) ..
Is this how your account is set up in Outlook? What errors are you receiving when you try to send/receive?

I am having a problem with my MacBook Pro and my granddaughter is having the same problem with her MacBook (and she lives in a different state). In the middle of doing something on the internet we get dropped and it says "you are not connected to the Internet" but we have full connection bars and if we go to some other page, we are connected.l Anyone else have this problem? I have a WRT54G v6 and a WUSB54GC. I can connect to the inter just fine and for the most part the linksys wireless network monitor says I'm connected to the access point and internet. The problem is occasionally it will says that I'm connected to the access point but the internet when I really am and I can browse the web just fine. I get the not connected to internet msg for a few minutes then it just goes back to connected. Any ideas?

I think here the issue may be that the utility and the internet connection are not getting synchronised. The operating system on your computer is it win XP? If it is win xp, u can use the windows wireless software to manage to your wireless network. In order to use the windows wireless zero configuration, right click on the linksys icon at the bottom right hand corner of the task bar, select the option that says "use windows wireless ....".
The linksys icon will be grayed and windows will be managing the wireless network. Connect to your wireless network and you should be able to go online.

IMac G4 says it's not connected to Internet but shows it is...

Hi, I'm not even sure I'm in the right place, but I have a few questions.
At first when I connected my iMac G4 to the Internet it kept giving me "there is an error connecting to "XXXXX" network" type thing.
Now, since I pressed Cmd, Option, O & F and did the rest-nvram and reset-all, when it boots it is showing it is connected to the internet but as soon as I've clicked network diagnostics and tried to go through that dialog box it will disconnect me from the wireless connection and go back to the error dialog mentioned above.
I just bought this, though the Airport Card was wacky so I replaced that.
It recognizes it in the "About Mac" "More Info" "Network" thing.
I've troubleshooted this beyond belief, and I need a more in depth help than just a simple "try restarting the computer"

I just bought this, though the Airport Card was wacky so I replaced that.
It recognizes it in the "About Mac" "More Info" "Network" thing.
So, you have tried two Airport Cards? Both have not worked?
I'd turn off encryption for testing. The card is rather slow. 10mhz.
Might be best to pack the cards in and try a usb dongle.

This linksys bridge is the safest solution since it doesn't require any Mac OS drivers.
Airport ExpressAirport Express is an external unit and you can configure it as a bridge. 802.11n ( I bevieve you will need a more modern version of Mac OS X to configure. Sadly, Apple uses a configuration program to configure, not a web browser. )

You better give OWC 1-800-275-4676 a call to verify that these USB dongles will work with 10.3.
You would be better off with the more expensive dongle. The letters n/g/b correspond to the speed of the data transfer. You should match the speed to your existing router. You best match on the highest speed. N is the highest. G is middle. b is lowest.

It sounds like your iTunes is not able to connect to the internet but your other internet programs work just fine. I would start with checking to see if perhaps proxy settings may be preventing the connection with this article named:

To check your web proxy settings, follow these steps:
Open Internet Explorer
In Internet Explorer, choose Tools > Internet Options.

In the Proxy server section of the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window, make sure your proxy settings are correct. If they're not, correct them.

In iTunes, try to access the iTunes Store or another online resource.

I am trying to download the latest software (3.0) for my iphone. Yet when I try to do so in i tunes, it says that I am not connected to the internet. However, I am connected to the internet (i just bought something in the i tunes store, so i must be!)
Anyone else seen this? if so, any tips on fixing it?

Same issue here. Updated Itunes 8.2 so i could move my iphone to os3.0 and now it none of the internet bits working in itunes but fine on internet explorer.
Ran diagnostics and it said "secure link to itunes store failed"

The internet icon shows as connected but when I go to iTunes, App Store or Maps it says I am not connected

What is the IP in Settings/Wi-Fi? Tap the arrow on the right of the name of your network. If it is 169... than you are not really connected to the Internet.
