Hi,
It is not clear what process you followed here, but if you cannot find your hard drive to boot from, you very likely have a failed hard drive. One thing to try is to use the Startup Manager at bootup. This shows you all available startup volumes. If your harddrive does not show up, that is a bad sign. Instructions are here: Startup Manager: How to Select a Startup Volume. Another thing that you can do is to boot up from your install CD and attempt to use Disk Utility, as described here:
Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption. See the section on Repair Disk. If your hard drive is not listed as one that you can repair, that is also a bad sign. We have had an iBook with these symptoms and the hard drive had to be replaced.
You might check out the following: Diagnose hard-drive disaster.

iBooks updated to 3.2 on iPhone 5. Now I have a red 1 indicator by the word purchased. But it doesn't do anything. I've shut down the phone and restarted to no avail. Any suggestions?

I am having a similar problem. Running Xp.
    Latest revision of firefox.
After using firefox for a while if I exit, parent.lock is locked and i have to reboot to reload firefox.
I have killed all firefox applications from task manager (usually there are none). and I have tried 3 different "file unlock" programs including unlocker to no avail.
I also recently installed a program that shows -all- open files, and parent.lock is not listed, and thus not closable/unlockable from there.

Check your trash can on the desktop. The old version is automatically moved to the trashcan. You should be able to move it from the trashcan back to the Apps folder within the iTunes folder. The update that was pushed out was for iBooks to work with iOS 7 not iPhone 5. iOS 7 was released today.

  • How do I submit iBook updated version to iBooks store?

I have an iBook already in the store (free). I have an updated version ready to upload. Best way to do this?
    Thanks, JD

The easiest way for me was to use the same .itmsp file that iTunes Producer originally made, make the changes to that file (update the assets, metadata, whatever) and re-deliver from that. No idea if this is the most efficiant, but so far everything seems to be working fine.

  • Once my iBook updated it take a long time to downloaded it

    From iTunes store
My free iBook has just 13 mo and it took more than 10 minutes to get it frome iBook store
Is there a way to get it faster as it used to be before the update?

There are a couple reasons it may be taking a long time to start:
    * Extensions may be slowing it down. Some, including antivirus toolbars, Browser Highlighter, and Skype extension are known to cause delays. See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
    * If you are getting delays where the status bar says "Waiting for site" or "Connecting to", make sure Firefox is fully allowed in all firewall software. See [[Firewalls]]

  • IBook update fails on iPhone and iPad

Has anyone else had difficulty with downloading updates for the iBook app? The download has failed for both iPad and iPad each time I've tried (multiple times each, close app, reboot phone, etc.). Thank you.

  • IBooks update indicator?

Attached is an image of my iBooks library on my iPad (with the titles covered).  At the bottom right on the screen, the digit 1 appears in a red circle.  The "1 in red circle" does not appear on any individual book.  Does anyone know what this is, and how to make it go away?
I thought it might indicate that an upgrade is available for one of my books.  But I don't know how to upgrade iBooks titles on my iPad.  I do know how to upgrade iBooks titles on my Mac, and I have done this.  I use the same iCloud account on my Mac and my iPad, so I expected the little red circle on my iPad to disappear, but it's still there.  I also re-synced my iPad to my Mac via iTunes, but the red circle still appears.
I know this is a trivial issue, but if anyone knows how to get rid of the red circle, pls let me know.  Thx

Thanks Brenden.  Appreciate the help.  I am running iBooks 4.1.1 on iOS 8.1.3.  The instructions you attached say to "tap Update ....".  I must be missing something, because I do not see an Update button anywhere on the screen ...

  • HT4059 Problems installing ibook update

I can longer access ibook on my ipad.  I went through the normal process of installing an update in App store, then clicked install and that app jammed. I cant even access ibook anymore. Need advice on how i can fix problem.

Here's what happened in safe boot mode.
I click on apple logo > software update > see's that Super Drive 3.0 is checked > click install
I wait for the install to go through.
First pop up says " There was a problem installing this update" Quit all apps before installing bla bla bla... I noticed a sound when this pop up appeared. It's the sound of when you restart the macbok. There is another popup behind this saying that software update has been sucessfully installed.
So what I did first was click "quit" on the popup saying "There was a problem installing this update".
then I clicked "ok" where it said that the software installation update was successfully installed.
I get another pop up which is the Software Update window. I let it look for any updates and it then says that my software is up to date. I noticed that Super Drive 3.0 is listed and cannot be checked [x]. There's a Check mark with a green circle around it.
I quit the software update window and click on apple logo > software update and let it do its thing. Next thing you know, It says that Super Drive 3.0 needs to be updated. I also checked the SERIAL ATA and still shows rev. CP06.
I just recently installed this mac os X so there is no "important" data on this laptop. I don't have any money for OS Lion or Mavrick nor meet the system req to run it. 2gb to 4gb is expensive for a ddr2 800 200 pin ram

  • IBook updates--keep previous notes and highlights?

If I update a book I published on iBooks, will readers who have downloaded and marked up (added notes and highlights) the previous version be able to keep those markings once they update to the new version?

  • Ibooks update keeps reseting

I update today the ibook app to the feb 9 update and the app does not work!, it shows my book for a moment and then reset to the main screen. I reset my ipad, power off, resync and still not work, any idea what could be happening?
    Thanks in advance
    Daniel

    Hi and welcome Daniel...
Open iTunes. On the left side of the iTunes window under Library select Apps. Right or control click the iBooks icon then click Delete.
On your iPad. Press and hold the iBooks icon then tap the circle with an x in it. Tap delete.
Click here to download and install a new iBooks app.
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ibooks/id364709193?mt=8
From the iTunes menu bar click Store / Check for available downloads.
When the installation is finished connect the iPad to your computer. Select Apps in the iTunes menu (just to the right of Summary and Info) then click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window. That will sync a new copy of the iBooks app to your iPad.

  • ITunes Connect doesn't recognize iBooks update

    Hi,
I'm trying to update an eBook (created with iBooks Author, .iba format) to the 1.2 version.
I follow all the steps correctly with iTunes Producer, it finished uploading and I hear the signal and see the window saying that everything went good.
But after that, nothing happens, iTunes Connect doesn't recognize any update so it turns out I have a book out of control.
It's very strange, as 3 weeks ago I updated another different book and I didn't have any problem.
Is there is something wrong with Apple Servers? Am I doing anything wrong?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
I've contacted Apple by phone yesterday and they told me ther was a problem when creating the EIN.
In fact, we gave them the name of our company with spaces while they wrote them without spaces.
So Apple didn't understand why it wasn't the same.
They told me it surely be good in a few days.
Just have a look at it first.
    Thanks

  • IBooks update - big fail again for PDF

So Apple released a new version of iBooks yesterday and everytime when there is an update I hope there is support for text-selection/mark for PDF-files. There are alot of apps that supports this function, so this can't be very hard to implement right?
On college I have alot pdf-sheets that I can't convert to .epub. So I need text-selection! It's ridiculous Apple can't seem to implement this!

    Hi,
You can provide feedback to Apple here.

  • PDFs capped 34 pages after iBooks update

My entire PDF collection lost their front covers and are all capped to 34 pages after the update.
    Any fixes for this yet?

Solved this way: Start up iTunes, de-select all the PDFs on the device, hit synchronize. Re-select all the PDFs again on the device and hit synchronize. Books will be removed then re-added to the device with front covers and correct no of pages.
