IBook won't start up at all - nothing happens when I push start

Not a thing is happening when I press the start button, and the battery is full. Same thing when i plug it in. Is there some kind of override? ( I remember an old Apple that had a small hole where you put a pin if the regular start-up button didn't work...

Hello Sally, welcome to Apple Discussions. One thing you can try is to remove the battery, put it back in, than try and start up your book. If that doesn't work, you can try to reset the PMU, using this method: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=95037
Hope this helps.
I had a problem similar to this with my iBook G3, only it involved sleep mode. If I slept it plugged in, it was fine, but if I slept it unplugged, it was DOA a while later-apparently a logic board problem. Battery full, but no chime, no sound at all when I attempted to start up. Randomly pressing the start button again and again would finally cause it to start up. Was the only fix for that book as only video logic board problems were covered and I couldn't afford the repair. "Bob the Book" now lives a plugged in life with my daughter in CA, where he otherwise functions flawlessly.
