IBooks App 2.1.1 on i4S cannot read .ibooks format

I bought a file / iBook named as OSLionhints.ibooks on a DVD
I was able to import this file into iTunes
But
- it is still not possible to play this .ibooks with a OSX SW / App
- it is not possible to play it in iTunes / on a MAC although this file is feasible in Mediathek -> books
What confused me fully:
- in the readme file on the DVD it is mentioned that I have to sync this file from iTunes to iPad and than I would be able to play it with App iBooks 2.0
I have no iPad, only a iPhone 4S
- I am not able to sync the iTunes book .ibooks from iTunes to the i4S !?!?
- .ibooks is feasible in Meadiathek -> books, but not feasible in the iTunes Device i4S folder !?!?!?!?
=> it seems to me that the iPad App iBooks 2.0 has a higher perfomance in reading more formats than the iPhone iBooks 2.1.1 format
==> it seems to be crazy that also the file / iBook .ibooks is nowhere feasible in iTunes Device iPhone sync folder !?!?!?!
===> After diskussions with 3 different Apple hotline "experts" I got different answers, but no solution to get the file.ibooks played on MAC or iPhone !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I think there is a pdf reader listed here:

  • Aperture 2.1.2 cannot read date format in new iPhoto '09

I've noticed that when I import photos from iPhoto '09 to Aperture, the image dates all change to 12/31/00 from the dates input in iPhoto. This was not the case in iPhoto '08, so I assume iPhoto '09 uses a new date format that Aperture cannot read.
Has anyone else experienced this and is there an update to Aperture in the works that will correct this?

For anyone else trying to import photos from iPhoto '09 into Aperture while retaining creation dates and comments added in iPhoto, I wanted to post the steps that worked for me.
    I am using Aperture v2.1.2, iPhoto 09 v8.01 (397), and System 10.5.6.
    1. In iPhoto, add date created and comments in lower left Information box for photo.
    2. In iPhoto, select all photos then choose Adjust Date and Time... in menu - change date by 1 second and select 'modify original files'. This will add the date you entered above in the Original Date in the photo EXIF data.
    3. Select all photos you want to export from iPhoto to Aperture and export as JPEG, Maximum JPEG Quality, Full Size, and select 'Title and Keywords' - export to a folder
    4. Open Aperture and import photos exported from iPhoto retaining All IPTC data.
Your photos in Aperture will now have the correct metadata in Aperture for original date and comments.
There may be a better way of doing this, but since iPhoto was updated to '09, this is the only way I have found to do what was straightforward in iPhoto '08.

  • Cannot read ibooks imported from iPad on macbook air

I can't read my ibooks imported from iPad on MacBook Air. Library is installed. how can I open the books for reading?

OOPS! I got it sorted out by installing from Brother CD (as distinct from download as tried previously). I hope I have not wasted anybody's time.

  • Will my books that i have bought and are in the ibook app will can i transfer them to an apple laptop

the books that iv'e bought that are on the ibook app can they be transfer to an apple laptop

You can copy them to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the iPad and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, or if they are still in your country's store then you should be able to redownload them on your Mac's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage.
If you have OS X Mavericks on your laptop then you should have a built-in iBooks app on it so that you can read them on your Mac - in which case you can either do File > Move Books From iTunes in it after copying them from your iPad or redownloading them in iTunes, or go into the iBooks Store in the iBooks app (top left of the bookshelf) and redownload them directly in the app via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the Featured homepage

  • IBook app in Canada.

Any one know when the iBook app will be up and running in Canada.

    Hi,
I am a new,(canadian), owner of an iPad. I wish to follow up on this subject. How can I find out when the iBooks app will be available in Canada ?

  • HT5544 Can you read ibooks on mac pro laptop?

If I download the ibooks app to my mac pro laptop, and then purchase an ibook through itunes, can I read it from my mac pro laptop or do I need an iPad, iPod or iPhone?

    Hi rosemaryfromdelta,
No, you cannot read iBooks on a Mac. However, you can read Kindle books on a Mac. Download the free Kindle application, set up a Kindle account on Amazon, and purchase your e-books through the Kindle store on Amazon.
P.S. - if you do ever get an iPad, iPhone, or iPod, you can also download the Kindle app to them, and you will be able to read any books you have purchased on those devices as well....
    Hope that helps!
    Cheers,

    Hi,
the settings are gone, i guess. But even worse, I cannot get the iPad2 to play Full HD thru the Apple digital AV adaptor using apps that support  (and advertise this), like AVPlayer HD. This definiteley used to work before one of the last iOS upgrades. (I am now at 5.1.1).

  • I have an IPad 1. I went to download 2 iBooks. I cannot down the load the latest version of the iBooks app. How do I get my money back cancel the purchase or get the book?

I have an ipad1. I went to download 2 iBooks. They failed to download. I cannot an download the latestv version of the iBooks app. How do I cancel the purchase get the book or get the latestest versionoff the app without an upgrade.?

Try downloading the current version of the iBooks app on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your account's purchase history. Then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and you should be able to download an older compatible version of the app.

  • Authoring a book made with iBook app cannot be sold anywhere else?

Is it true that books made with the iBook Author app and sold through the iBook store can't be sold anywhere else? If so, I sure hope people in here are aware of that. Just an FYI
    I found this on http://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-absolute-worst-thinks-owns-221600501.html
Dan Wineman pointed out on his blog that Apple's End User License Agreement (EULA) states that books made with the iBook Author app and sold through the iBook store can't be sold anywhere else.
However, if you offer your book for free in the iBooks store, then you can distribute it for free anywhere else you want. Wow, how generous of apple... Just because you use their software??? What a joke

Part of Apple's licensing agreement states that if you sell your .ibook generated file, that it must be done through the iBookstore.
You can distribute free copies anywhere you please without issue.
If export the content from an iBooks Author file (.iba) into another format (say via copy and paste, pdf export, etc...), you are free to do that; you own the rights to your own content.

I just watched a pod-cast about iBook app. They talked about the licensing for the iBook app. Exporting an iBook to a PDF (or to another format) can't be sold outside the iBook store.

  • Ibooks crashes on one pdf but I cannot delete this from the ipad (?)

I am experienceing constant crashes when I switch to PDF's in Ibooks. After very few seconds it just terminates.
This started when I chose to open a pdf sent in email with Ibooks (this has worked before).
Ipad is upgraded to lates iOS w/ patches.
Now I cannot seem to delete the pdf file from the ipad which I suspect is the reson for these crashes.
I have tried to delete it from itunes.
I have tried to de-select it from sync.
I have tried to delete ibooks and reinstall it both directly from iStore to the app and from iTunes.
    Still the same problem.
The pdf file re-appears in iBooks every time.....
It seems that the only option is to delete the pdf from within iBooks.
But this I cannot do while it crashes.
How can I get this pdf file out of the ipad ?
Need help as now the iBooks app is totally useles.
    -Bernt

Yes, that is what I decided on as well.
First I made sure I had a recent backup of the iPad.
Then I went to the iPad's configuration menu and selected to reset and delete all content.
Then I moved the suspected pdf's out of the itune folder, removed them from itune "Books" and is currently in the prosess of restoring the ipad from a previous backup.
I will post here if this "solved" the problem.

  • How to put a doc file in the iBook app on an iPhone

I have been successful moving PDF onto the iBook app on my iPhone 3GS but the same procedure does not with with a Doc.  There is a "DOC" category listed within the iBook app itself so I should be able to do it.
Dragging the file from "finder" into the ebook section within iTunes is how I get PDFs into iBook.  Is there a different way for Docs?
I am on a Macbook Pro using Lion  10.7.3.
    IPhone is a 3GS

It appears that doc files cannot be put on the iBook App....only PDFs and ePub files.

  • Where did my IBook app go?

I cannot find the IBook app button.
I know this is such a silly question, however after I downloaded the IBook app I assumed it would be on the home page with the other apps. I do see it listed when I click the settings app button in the left side panel.
Could someone please explain what I'm doing right, wrong, or indifferent?
    Thank's so very much.

No, I don,t. In fact none of my apps are showing. The home page is only showing the apps that came with the IPad. I have the IPhone and assumed the home page on the IPad would fill up with apps as I added them just like it, however I can't find any photos showing that.

  • How to I update to a 7.0 so that I can add the iBook app to my ipad

How do I update to a 7.0 so that I can add the iBook app to my iPad

What generation iPad do you have?
The First generation iPad cannot be updated past iOS 5.1.1
However you should be able to get the last compatible version of the iBooks App by tapping on the install button.
You might need to download first to a computer running itunes or a device that can take the newest version before you will get the option for the last compatible version.
