IBooks Author do not open my book file: help me!!!

Hi, iBooks does not open my file: I already tried with the various ways explained in the forum, as the makeup of the Zip extension, but I have not solved.
Let me explain:
I worked on my book directly onto a USB stick on a macbook, then I went home and I overwrote the file on my iMac with one of the key: result!?
The file in question does not open, and even that on the stick!
Have you any suggestions please?
My partner has recovered files on your computer with DiskDrill, but iBooks does not open them. He remembers reading that there is someone who is able to send the file to open it, but has not found the message (where there was the email).
Important to me is because I retrieve the text written to the file and the backup I have now is an old version and miss him so much written material (pictures and filming them have).
Can you help me, please?!?

The file in usb is definitely damaged because it is 200 MB compared to around 1 GB it should be.
When I worked with the MacBook directly on usb I think that once the file is damaged during the last save (I did not realize this before).
In iMac I overwrite the original file with that of USB. Result: I have two files of about 200 MB (one in usb and one in iMac) that do not open.
Now I have only an older version that opens but I lack the important text that I wrote later. I retrieved other files previous Iba with the software diskdrill including one from a GB or so and very recently (4 days before) but it does not open.
I'm interested to recover all the possible text from the file iba that I have.
I know the possibility to send at someone to Apple the file groped for a recovery or at least extrapolation of data (I am interested only written texts).
Can you give me please an email to send the file (I send the link to download it)?

IBooks Author does not open existing ibook

I updated iBooks Author yesterday and saved an existing ibook on my Mac and USB drive. Today morning, the book is refusing to open, displaying a "invalid format" message. The file also apprears to have shrunk in size, from 250mb to 8kb.
Any idea of what happened and how I can resolve this? Or would I have to re-do the whole thing?

The short answer is that iBooks Author does not output a format that supports iPhone. Use Pages to generate an ePub file that supports iPhone, etc.

My Ibooks author will not open a file

I have an Ibooks author file that will not open. How can I open the file to edit it?

In that case, if the file isn't locked and/or owned by another user, and you don't see any errors when trying to access it, all I can imagine is that it is somehow broken/corrupted.
If you don't have a backup to try instead, you may want to contact Apple for iBA support and see if they can help....that, or walk your MB into the nearest Apple Store and see what they think.

HT4059 Some books shown on my ibooks library will not open. Error message states that they are incorrecrtly formatted.

Try opening the problem library on the HD, if you still have it, by launching iPhoto with the Option key depressed and, when asked, navigate to the external HD and select it. If it opens then you might be able to get it recognized by iPB. If you don't have the one on the external try the one in the Documents folder.
Does iPhoto Buddy create its own plist file in each of the library folders? If so then maybe it the problem. Remove it from the problem library and try relinking it.
I used to use iPB but changed to iPLM (although I like iPB's interface better) as it was compatible with V6 before iPB was.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

I can open a .book file but not a .fm file with FM 10.0.2

I can open FrameMaker 10 through the EXE.
I can open FrameMaker 10 through a .book file.
I can open a .book file from FrameMaker 10.
I cannot open FrameMaker 10 through a .fm file.
I cannot open a .fm file from Framemaker 10.
I've tried multiple .fm files, so this isn't isolated to s sngle corrupted file.
I was using FrameMaker 10 yesterday, but it doesn't work today.
I updated Flash this morning, but have not installed any other programs.

I'm not sure which actions resolved this issue:
I went to: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Adobe\FrameMaker\10
I moved all files with today's date to another folder on my desktop.
I also contunued to \WorkSpaces\Structured and moved the Structured Authoring.cfws file.
The .fm file opened with no hitches.

I can not open the book samples acquired in the iBooks Store

I can not open the book samples acquired in the iBooks Store on my MacBook Pro with the latest version of Mavericks, I can only open these samples on my ipad or iphone.

Hold both power on and home button together and ignore the red slider until you see the apple logo. Then let go of both buttons and wait for the phone to reset itself.

IBooks Author won't open a .ibooks file?

I've been messing around creating a textbook, and saved the file to a folder on my hard drive. The extension of the file is .ibooks and I can see that the file is nearly 40 MB, so I know it's right (I put videos and pictures in it).
But now when I go to open the file, I get a dialogue box that says iBooks Author can't open the file?

Hi there - I have a question about file type and size, and maybe others might want to know about this too:
I'm finishing an ebook I've made using iBooks Author and when I check the file size of the iba file (using Get Info), it says it's 2.14GB, which has me worried as I know the iBookstore accepts only files under 2GB (as well as 2GB being slow to download).
But after reading some comments online I tried saving the file as ibooks, and in this format it's only about 240MB. Which one is the true file size as it will appear on the iBookstore?
I can't seem to open the file with the ibooks extension - is that understandable because, as you said, it's for viewing on the iPad, right?
I really want to hit "publish" this week. Thanks in advance for any replies!

IBooks will not open any books after relocating home folder

I added an SSD to my MacPro running 10.9. Because my home folder is too large for this disk, I relocated it to a large conventional HD. Now, iBooks.app will not open any of my ePub or multi-touch eBooks. PDFs are opened in Adobe Reader, just as before. I've booted into the Recovery disk and corrected permissions but that didn't help.
How can I straighten this mess out. MacOS X will not allow me to delete the iBooks app.

My daughter created and published a book using iBooks Author but it only shows up in the iPad and Mac version of iBooks.
Is there a way to get it to work on the iPhone iBooks store as well?

Well, yes, in the sense that simplicity has a price: it comes at the cost of reduced functionality. (If all the functionality were still there, things wouldn't be as simple; it's an inevitable trade-off.) It looks like IBA was designed with the iWeb philosophy: make simple things really simple, and leave out the stuff that's too complex to control for non-experts. The upside of course is that non-experts can use the tool really easily.

Sure. But almost all that effort went towards creation of the content, not towards laying it out with IBA (which was remarkably easy). So, in that sense, IBA more than met my expectations. The things it does do, it by and large does really well, and without much expertise needed on my part. The only thing that was complex was the HTML widget, which took some programming. But that's entirely my own fault, not IBA's
