IBooks Author: Open store links without leaving app?

I am trying to link from within a book (created in iBooks Author) without leaving the iBooks app.
I can add the iTunes link, but it opens the iTunes app.
I want it to stay within the iBooks app.
There are other ebooks, including ones created in iBooks Author, that load the mini iTunes store pop-up panel when, and stay within the book that it open. Like in the Led Zeppelin Sound and Fury ibook.
Help would be much appreciated!

If are sure your machine is within the conditions set by Apple, have you tried opening the Applications folder
A- to see if the app is actually installed and B- clicking the iBA app to open it?
If the iBA app is showing in your app folder and does not open, I would suggest contact support for either Mac or iBA or both for advice.

IBooks or iBook Author opening page setting

During the testing phase the book has been installed on the iPad using 'Preview'. In this mode the book always opens on the iPad with the page that was open in iBooks Author when starting the 'Preview' process.
I am exporting the book with the 'Book Title' as the active selection on the assumption that you want this to be the startup page.
The book has an Intro Media Video mp4v format plays in Preview mode without any issues.
In iBooks on the iPad [first generation] I am deleting all versions of the book and previews before installing the actual exported *.ibook version.
The issue is for what ever reason the book does not open with the Intro Media Video perhaps it has some memory as to the last page that was opened
for that book.
Is this issue resolved with a setting and if so what is the magic? Cheers Ant..

Worked on this problem for the best part of half a day. It was only resolved after I restored the iPad to factory settings and re-installed iBooks which in the scheme of things appears to be a bit drastic. Cheers Ant..

How do I open a link in an app not in Safari?

I would like to open a link in a stand alone app, like Pinterest, in the Pinterest app, not by opening Pinterest in Safari on my iPhone and iPad. How do I do that?

Your form is a special type of form called a "static XFA form" (typically authored with Adobe LiveCycle Designer).
The "links" in the static XFA form are actually buttons (form fields) that act like hyperlinks.
Unfortunately, Adobe Reader mobile products (including Adobe Reader for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support static (or dynamic) XFA forms. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The static XFA buttons for web links did not work with any of the non-Adobe PDF viewers that I tried on my iPad, either. So the users who receive the static XFA form will experience the same problem on mobile devices.

Opening links without leaving your site

I have multiple links to outside websites in my website. I would like to have those sites open and still leave my site open, to avoid leaving my site. I do not recollect how to do this. Please help.

If your doctype is HTML 4.01 Transitional, you can use the target attribute for the anchor tags with a value of "_blank". If your doctype is XHTML or Strict, you can use the method described here -

Can't open App Store links in Safari

The problem is, basically, whenever I (using my iPhone/Safari) try to click a link to the App store; I get:
Cannot Open Page
Safari cannot open the page because too many redirects occurred.
How to solve it?

I've got exactly the same problem. I have this with all App store links in Safari and all app store links on other apps. Even Apples own 12 days - I haven't been able to download any of the free gifts, as it opens Safari and then gives the message
"Cannot Open Page
Safari cannot open the page because too many redirects occurred."
I'm using 3GS, Version 3.1.2.
I've also tried rebooting, and tried going to Settings>>Safari and Clear History, Clear Cache, Clear Cookies. But still the same problem.

IBook Author - does it produce iBooks, Apps or both?

iBooks Author creates a .iBooks file, which is used with the iOS app iBooks 2 on an iPad.
Apps are built using Xcode.
I have an app in the store that is in the Books category...the trick is to not call it a 'book' when submitting - mine is actually a user manual for a product. If you submit an app and call it a book, the review team tends to tell you to draft a book instead, rather than making an app, and submit to that part of the store.
You can't put an iBook (file/product) in the App Store as an iOS app, sorry.

Sorry, I cannot remember all teh many options of category and sub categories offered during the delivery process.
A very simple solution for you is to use Google Translate to convert the category titles to French
Another option is to use the iBooks store - search for books made with iBooks Author open a few preview / sample books to look at the information page and check which categories are used the most... and use the same!

Authoreware Book into ibooks author

I am in the process of converting my book which was made in authorware to ibooks author. I need some info to be given to the graphic artist for layout, images and 3d animation work.
1. What should be the size and resolution for the layout (for cover page, content page)
2. What should be the format of images and maximum size of the images
3. What should be the format of 3D animation and 2D animation.
4. Is there any other information required other than the above mentioned?

I am using 3D graphics for my book too. I am almost finished and I might as well share some of my discoveries using iBooks Author.
1. So far I have read that you should make your images larger than the ratio of the ipad. Since the iPad 3 has a retina display (2048x1536) render images at this resolution, since iPad 2 will downsize it anyway. The cover image is 600x800. Since no one can actually zoom in on this image, it doesn't have to be HD like the other pages. (If you see a real ibook, it shows the cover for about 2 seconds and then opens the book).
2. I have read that JPG is the best image file to use since you can reduce the file size and keep the resolution while PNG you can't.
3. WIth the 3D widget, I think .OBJ is the file you can use.
4. All you need is iBooks author, assuming you have updated your mac to 10.7.2. You must have MAC OSX lion, ibooks author and download iTunes Producer (an app to send your book to itunes) iBooks 2 reader app and an ipad with iOS 5.1. Assuming you are going to make an interactibe book, you may need iWorks 09 to make Keynote stuff to add it. You will need an audio editor and a ePub compatible text editor to edit the code (XML) to add read aloud features. (Assuming you don't know what the next steps are, you will need an ISBN number first soon after you finished the book, second you need your tax id to enter into itunes account, bank account, and then you can submit book. I heard it takes from 2 weeks to 2 months to find out if it has been accepted or rejected. It can be rejected by simply having the word "iBooks" in your text, as an example).

You will have to learn them yourself or talk to someone who has already finished an ibook and get tips from many sources. No one source will have all the info you need, yet. Transfer ibook author file between Macs

Recently changed model of Mac and although I carried out Migrate Assistant routine (yes wifi takes days, ethernet is faster, I found that out the hard way) along with iPhoto files iBook Author failed to transfer across leaving my sizzling novel on the Mac now in my sons room.
My question is do I have to bring the old Mac down and go through MA allover again or is there a quicker way?
foreseeing that MA may not completely bring my files over i have ensured my original profile remains on old Mac

I have iba app on both computers but the book remains on the old one. I have tried to transfer via portable hard drive but this has its problems too

Using Media Widgets in iBooks Author

I'm writing an eBook in iBooks Author (which is a great Mac App!). I am adding audio widgets from time to time, and want to place them in the text next to a specific paragraph. However, I have discovered that if I try to include a second audio widget on the same page as another audio widget, the first one disappears. In other words, it only seems to allow one audio widget per page. But this means I can't alsways place the audio next to the apprpriate para. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a workaround?

iOS (and OS X) comes with two Gujarati fonts, Gujarati MT and Gujarati Sangam MN. So the easiest thing to do is to use one of those.   Other platforms will probably have their own default Gujarati fonts with different names.
If you want to embed a different Gujarati font in your .ibooks format book, then you will indeed have to convert that font from OpenType to AAT before iBooks will display it correctly. To convert an Opentype Indic font to an AAT Indic font I think someone will have to add a morx table along the lines of what is contained in Gujarati MT.
Bear in mind that iBooks Author creates a format that can only be read on an iPad (unless you want to export to PDF). If you want to produce books for all platforms and readers, then you need to use .epub format and a different app, like Pages or Indesign.   With epub format you would probably not normally try to embed fonts but just rely on the reader to supply whatever Gujarati font is already on the device.

Hello iBooks Author & iBookstore Colleagues, Can you include a link to an external server in a revenue generating iBook Author app that is distributed via iBookstore? In other words, can you have a url link on a page of a "for sale" IBA app to a survey or questionnaire that is hosted on a secured external server?
