IBooks disappeared

Have a new iPad 2. Went to the App Store and downloaded iBooks. The process started, the pad moved a screen to the right and the icon showed up and the blue downloading bar was present, then it disappeared. There's nothing on the second home page, no iBooks icon on the main home page, but when I synced with iTunes it copied it to my laptop. I see iBooks on the settings page, but it's not accessible since there is no icon. The App Store won't let me redownload it because it says it's installed.
I'm perplexed!

Hi,
Try restarting your iPad.
Press and hold the Sleep / Wake button until the red slider appears then swipe the slider to right. Wait until the iPad turns off completely then press and hold down the Sleep / Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.
See if your iBooks app is installed.

  • After downloading Ios500 and iCloud, my saved iBook disappeared with my saved books? Any assistance ?

After downloading Ios5.1.1, and iCloud, my iBook disappeared from home screen with my saved books,,, has any one experience the same or can help? Please

They should show in the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks app for re-downloading (re-downloading). If you updated to iOS 5.1.1 via your computer's iTunes were the books in your computer's iTunes library (did you do File > Transfer Purchases before updating) ? If the books weren't on your computer's iTunes then the update process wouldn't have been able to copy them back to your iPad after installing 5.1.1 on it.

  • After installing iOS 8 for my iPad all my PDF files in iBooks disappeared.

After installing iOS 8 for my iPad Air, all my PDF files in iBooks disappeared.

Did you back these books up to your computer before updating to iOS 8? It is always suggested that you back everything up before updating, so if something goes wrong, you can easily put them back on.
You should just be able to plug the device into the computer you sync to and they should sync as long as you have "Sync Books" ticked in the books section.

  • Books on iBooks Disappear!

Every 3 or 4 days the 50+ books I have on my iBooks "Collections" shelves (which I have neatly arranged by Author and Date Published) simply disappear! Yes they are in some weird random order on the "Purchased" section (with the little cloud icon on the upper right hand corner) so I can download them AGAIN and AGAIN but it is just a nuisance to have to do this. My iPad is 3rd Gen running iOS 6.1.3......Any idea what could be causing this? I have tried shutting everything down (I usually just put it to sleep) and have even tried deleting and re-installing the iBooks app...All to no avail...At least I don't have to pay for the books again, but it is getting frustrating having to keep downloading them from "the cloud." Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions. Tom

On the iPad tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores
Switch Books off then back on.
Sometimes iCloud needs a kick start to sync data.

  • Ibooks disappeared from my iPhone -- here we go again?

I know that this problem has come up and had been resolved in the past, but I just purchased and downloaded an ibook to itunes on my Macbook Pro, synced it to my iphone via USB --I'm away from wifi in a foreign land for the moment-- and the rest of my ibook library disappeared. The new purchase is there, but the old ones are gone.

The books remain in my MacBook library. Just gone from the iPhone.

  • IBooks disappeared on iPad

About 20 purchased books disappeared from iBooks. How do I get them back? They were on my iPad.

No they are never permanently lost because they are associated with your apple id.you can redownload them without re-purchasing.if you activate automatic downloads, they would be downloaded automatically.if you don't activate that option, you can manually download them again from the store

  • IBooks disappeared after upgrading to iOS6

I had about 25 PDF's in iBooks and all but 2 disappeared after updating to iOS6, where should I look for them?

Hello, unfortunately I can't find where my iTunes stored the back-up. In the article the path which is described -
Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\, doesn't exist. In the folder /Program Files/Itunes/ doesn't exist a folder backup or something similar. I forgot to mention that my device is an Ipad and the pdf. files are all collected from different sites, none of them is purchased.

  • IBook disappears from network when using Airport

Hi there. Until recently my wife and her iBook have happily shared files back and forth with my Mini, and she has been able to use my shared printer. Now, when she's connected to the internet through our Airport Graphite, our computers no longer show up on each other's network, and she can't find my shared printer.
I'm not sure if I have a software or hardware problem, but I can't figure it out on my own.
We have two desktops (a Mini and an eMac) connected to a cable modem through an ethernet hub. The Airport Graphite is also connected to the hub. The Airport is configured to distribute IP addresses, and ethernet client computers also share a single IP address (using NAT).
If we unplug the ethernet cable from our eMac and plug it into my wife's iBook, the iBook and Mini can once again "see" each other, and my wife can access my shared printer. When we unplug the ethernet from the iBook and go back to using the Airport, the iBook can still access the Internet, but it disappears from the local network.
I'm hoping there's a simple explanation that I'm missing. I'd be grateful for some help!
Mac Mini 1.2 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Thanks so much for responding, Tesserax.
My hub is a "Linksys 5-Port Workgroup Hub," model EW5HUB.
The cable modem is plugged into the port called "Uplink." The Mini is plugged into port 1, the eMac into port 2, and the Airport into port 3.
The network has functioned properly in the past (the iBook used the printer plugged into the Mini, and we shared files back and forth). Recently, I had to reset the Airport, but I thought I had reconfigured it correctly. In short, Airport configuration would be my main suspect here.
I'm afraid I don't know what (if anything) is supplying NAT service. I assumed it was something the Airport does -- allowing it to sort out the flow of data to the various computers. The question is beyond my expertise level because I don't really understand what NAT service is. Is the problem in my Airport's Network configuration?
My ISP assigns IP addresses dynamically, so my Airport doesn't have a static IP address. However, my ISP allows for only two IP addresses, so I need my ethernet computers to also share the Airport's address.
I hope that, somewhere during my ramblings, a light has gone off in your more enlightened mind. Thanks again for your help!

  • Purchased iBook disappeared after upgrading iPad to iOS 8.  Unable to re-download.

A student at my school recently lost an iBook after upgrading his iPad to iOS 8.  After the upgrade, the book was just no longer on his bookshelf.  Now, when trying to re-download from his Purchased list, the book just appears grayed out and does not download. He can download the book on his iPhone, which is iOS 7.  We've tried:  closing/re-opening iBooks, signing out/in of his Apple ID, Home button-Power button resetting the iPad, signing out of iTunes, checking storage despite not getting any errors (has 3GB available, book is under 10MB).  No luck with any of that.. just a grayed out book that won't download.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks

Thank you SO much Stephaniefromlancaster -
I tried your solution and you're not nuts   It worked!!!

  • HT4539 PDF files in iBook disappeared

Download PDF from computer iTunes. Viewed transfer look at files.
Next day open iBook viewed PDF and then they disappeared

    Hi Hartsough,
The article below may shed a little more light on working with PDF files in iBooks:
iBooks: Viewing, syncing, saving, and printing PDFs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
    Syncing and saving PDFs
To add PDFs to your iTunes library on your computer, simply drag and drop the PDF into your iTunes Book library.
To sync a PDF to iBooks on your device:
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in the Devices list on the left in iTunes 10.1 or later.
Click the Books tab in the resulting window.
Ensure that the Sync Books checkbox is enabled.
If iTunes is set to only sync selected books, be sure to enable the checkbox next to the PDF you want to sync.
    Click Sync.
iTunes can backup your PDF files so they are restored to your iOS device after a software restore, update, or to transfer information to a different device. When you use iTunes 10.1 or later to sync your PDF files to iBooks 1.2 or later on your iOS device, a backup of your PDF will be automatically created. A copy of the PDF will be added to your iTunes Books library.
    Hope this information helps!

  • How to sync PDF files in iBooks?

When I synced only photos, all of the PDF files I had saved in iBooks disappeared.  I had chased to only sync photos, because I am not yet comfortable and confident with the sync process, and I did not want to risk losing anything else.

When I don't have my computer available, I do this by emailing the PDF to myself then open it from whichever device I need (open in iBooks)
