IBooks Mac has stolen all of my books

I have (had) quite a few books in my iBook on my iPad. After synching it to my new Mavericks system, it appears that iBooks for Mac has taken control of my book collection and I can find no way to resync my collection with iBooks on my iPad.
If this is documented somewhere, it's very well hidden.
I've got a trip coming up and really need to get my reference books back onto my iPad.
Drag and drop in iTynes was so much easier...
What's the magic and where is it documented?

Resolved this through a convoluted reset of iTunes...
Close iBooks on Mac
Close iTunes on Mac
Copy ~/Music/iTunes Music Library.xml to the desktop
Delete the iTunes Library.itl file from that same folder
Open iTunes
Select "Add to Library -> Import Playlist" from the File menu
Select the xml file that you copied to your desktop
(Wait...)
Once completed, open iBooks on your Mac
Select "Move Books from iTunes..." from the File menu
(that step may not be necessary, but just in case...)
Attach iPad
Open iPad and select Books from the tab bar
Check "Sync Books"
The same books in your iBooks library on your Mac will now show up on your iPad's sync list
Click Sync
My books. PDFs and epubs are now back on my iPad.

IGNORE the last post: he thought you are using Lion or Mountain Lion.
Since you are using Snow Leopard, you need to install Rosetta. It can be found on your Snow Leopard Install DVD in the Options section.
Once installed all should be well again.
Also, if your computer is connected to the internet when the Dialog Box about PowerPC applications comes up, it MIGHT allow you to download Rosetta from the internet. There has been some discussion that Apple has discontined internet download of Rosetta into Snow Leopard.
Someone else will have to address your lost files problem.

Mail Mac has deleted all my emails from the server..how to get them back?

Mistakenly, I've changed the options in Mail app in Mac, which says "Remove copy from server after retrieving a massage" Immediately, and it deleted all my emails from the server. Is there anyway to return all my 3000 emails back to the server? cuz I want to access them from anywhere :S it's a hotmail account.

You can create a new IMAP account in Apple Mail, and move all the messages to the IMAP folders. They are synced with the server.
I don't know if hotmail supports imap though, I would prefer Gmail.

IBooks on Mavericks lost all my PDFs! Help!

I used to keep all my manuals and tech notes as PDFs in iBooks through iTunes. All were neatly organized. Now they're gone!!! Give me back the old iTunes, please!!!

First of all you have to see your Library folder, in your home (Your name)
If you have not done it yet, open your home folder, than select the menu
View in Finder,
select
Show view options: it will open a prefs window
At the bottom you will check Show Library Folder, to be able to se the Library and follow the path
and get to the folder of ibooks
User-home-library-containers-com.apple.BKAgentService-Data-Documents-iBooks-book s

I hope yours will be full. But in the case it is not, you could always add from a backup all your pdfs and books,
like I did.
In iBooks app you have in the File menu
Add to library.
In case you see all your books and pdfs there but you don't see them in ibooks
just select them all but the Books.plist, and transfer them in another folder on your desktop.
Then select to import with Add to library , all the books and pdfs you would like reinstated in ibooks
I hope it will work for you as well!
P.s. Don't be disappointed though, your books will loose their names-changed to numbers,
the pdfs still have their correct name

I have the same problem. I've tried to restart my Ipad and downloaded the book again several times but nothing has changed. There aren't any reviews on the book with that problem and I've got the latest version of iBook so I don't know what else I can do to get the book which I've paid for. Does anyone have another idea what I could do? (maybe one of the above might help you, Paul)

My laptop was stolen but "Find My Mac" has located it. Now how do I get it back?

Early this morning, a friend of mine called me to tell me her laptop was stolen. She asked me to help her track it using iCloud find my mac. The theives also stole her wallet and other things from her car so this isn't something that was just misplaced and an innocent person came across it. My question is, now that I know where it is (within a couple hundred feet vicinity) what is the best approach I can use to get this back for my friend? She's got years of family pictures and does not have the laptop backed up so this is very important to her. Any ideas?
It shows the laptop around 4200 S Wade Way (about 3260 w), West Valley City, Ut

Well, I did contact the police with all this information. They actually went to one of the houses with me (the one on the corner) and it was an old man who was very polite who lived at home alone and didn't seem like the type. Instead of knocking on the other doors with me, the police said, "Your locating program is probably just wrong and it's not here." he wouldn't knock on any other doors so I plan on going tomorrow morning and knocking but the chances of anyone confessing are slim so I don't know what approach to go at with them. I don't know why find my mac doesn't let you leave a message like find my iPhone because I would leave a message saying "this mac has been misplaced. If you return it, the owner will reward you with $500 without pressing charges or asking how you came across the laptop. Please call -------, but, no. All I can do is knock. lol

Has anyone created a COLORING BOOK in iBooks Author?

I've seen several coloring books on the iBook store and would like to know if anyone has created one using iBooks Author?
If so, which and how?
If not but have a coloring book, how?
How does one make the interactive colore pallette to work from? Is it a widget and if so where can I get one?
I first thought that all the coloring books were App's until I found actual coloring books outside of the apps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

iAd Producer 4.0 has a drawing widget as one of its templates. You could start with that and put a transparent image in the layer stack to get a coloring book effect.

Someone else in the forum told me how to do this. If you have Onyx on your system then select Parameters, iTunes and turn off high contrast mode. If you don't have Onyx, I'd suggest getting it. It is freeware and used to help maintain your system. Good luck

Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.
In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.
In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."
Navigate to the Music folder. On my 'pod, the full path is
Portable Media Devices\NAME of IPOD (F:)\iPod_Control\Music
Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.
And you're done! The iPod music folder structure is strange and inexplicable, but once you move your files into iTunes you can set it to automatically organize your folder by artist and album to clean that up. (To do this, in iTunes Edit menu, choose Preferences and in the Advanced tab, check "Keep iTunes Music Folder organized."

Shouldn't the IP address be on the box you bought the machine in? If you have the box, take it to the police as evidence that it's your machine. If I were you, I would set the firmware password when you get it back, but make sure you have the password written down in a safe place. If you forget it, there's only two ways to reset it. Either pay $400+ for the tool that can do it, or pay almost nothing for Apple to do it, I think it depends on where you live. The firmware password is this encrypted password and it can't be hacked either. The password prevents anyone from booting the machine into recovery mode, thus preventing them from restoring the computer to factory settings or performing any other functions. It's not stored in the hard drive so replacing that will be of no use either.
