IBooks - missing a purchase after corruption problems HELP!!

I'm not an expert, but I'm not a dummy either.
After upgrading my Dad's iPad to 5.0.1 and upgrading the iBooks app we encountered what I would call iBooks databse corruption. Whenever we ran a backup with iTunes we would get an error. When we would start iBooks you'd see the empty shelf and then crash. I tried the normal stuff like reinstalling the app, restoring, etc. The only way I could fix the problem was to delete all of the iBooks in iTunes and perform a restore on the iPad. With no iBooks databse in iTunes we were finally able to clear out the corruption. We then went to the purchased section of the iBooks store and downloaded all of his books. We found that one was missing, and of course it's the one he's half way through. Is there anything we can do to get it back? I don't think it's fair that he should have to pay for it again.

Whenever I have something not in the purchased section, I search for the book and then select download. So I pretend to buy it again, but it is free since i already paid for it. And if that doesn't work, use the express lane online http://bit.ly/sH2ZHA

Synching Purchased HD Content Problems HELP!!!!!

I have a 30 gig video iPod that got kicked over to my son for his Yo Gabba Gabba episodes which he loves to watch on the fly with the help of some traveling speakers. WonderfuI setup. We purchased the Season 3 Pass and had downloaded the 10 episodes that were and currently are available and I had transfered them to the iPod and everything was wonderful. For christmas we got a 25 dollar gift card for iTunes and used it to purchased the 2nd season (19 HD and SD episodes) and a couple of 1st season episodes (which were only available in SD).
Today, we are going on a road trip and I decided that I'd throw the 2nd season on the iPod and it not only didn't allow me to synch the HD episodes, when I went to restore the iPod and start the entire synching process over with all Yo Gabba Gabba shows, it didn't allow the 3rd season to synch either. Even though it had just been on that very iPod in HD quality with no problems before. The only episodes it did synch were the 2nd seasons SD quality episodes. I also believe that my purchases included the SD quality when I bought the HD quality versions, so to not be able to synch even the SD quality episodes is very confusing at best.
Please, can anyone help? This is very frustrating.

High Definition content is NOT supported on the iPod Classic. Make sure you are only sync Standard Definition.
There was recently an update to iTunes that has caused a bit of issue for people trying to sync even SD content from iTunes.

Problem with iBook powering on... Need help diagnosing please

So for awhile my iBook G3 (dual USB, 700 mhz, 12" display) when the power is pressed the computer chimes and the hard drive will start spinning and then nothing happens. After a few seconds I can hear the drive stop spinning and the only sign of power is that the keyboard will light at the caps lock key.
I tried doing a PMU/PRAM reset and the iBook did a long beep noise, then the hardrive started spinning, then power light started flickering, and than it chimed and that's it.
Not sure what to do with it. I love this computer, and all though it's older and well out of date, it's ultra compact and worked great for wireless internet surfing when away from home. I'd appreciate any help to help figure out what this problem is and if it's worth paying to get it fixed or to replace it.

First, check out the Apple Knowledge Base article on troubleshooting portables that won't turn on or start up to see if something there helps.
It sounds like you may be having logic board problems. Enough Dual USB G3 iBooks suffered from the logic board problem that Apple began the iBook Logic Board Repair Extension Program in January of 2004. Check out the FAQ page and if the symptoms look familiar and it is not past the three-year time limit, give Apple a call.
You can find the original purchase date of the iBook, by entering its serial number into the box at the bottom of Apple's main support page under "About Your Support Coverage."
If it is past the three-year time limit (and it probably is), you may want to consider trying the shim fix suggested by John Sawyer in the Apple Discussions iBook G3 (Dual USB) Displays Forum:
[Y]ou can often fix this yourself by removing the iBook's bottom housing, and placing a shim of any sort, about 1mm to 1.5mm thick, onto the raised square on the bottom shield. I use a Scotch mounting square--you can get them in hardware stores and many grocery stores. When you reinstall the bottom case, it will press against this shim, which will press against the graphics chip, and may allow the chip to come into better contact with the logic board.

If the shim fix doesn't work (or you're leery of trying it), DT & T Computer Services in Fremont, California offers the cheapest repair I've found. They have a six-month warranty on the repair.
Once you get it fixed, try never to pick it up by the left front corner alone. The theory is that picking it up by the left front corner alone can contribute to logic board failure when the case flexes, causing the graphics chip to come loose from the logic board. If you're picking it up in your left hand (as I often do mine), pick it up in the center under the trackpad.
If you can't manage to get it fixed free or on your own with the shim fix, I almost think it's a better idea to put the money you would spend on a repair toward a new MacBook. They are such a spectacular upgrade over the iBook G3. Hard drive specs, USB 2.0, RAM, processor, Tiger, the newest version of iLife, built-in AirPort Extreme, Bluetooth capabilities, and built-in iSight camera. If you can afford it, that may be the way to go. With a new MacBook, you have the option of using Migration Assistant to transfer your data to the new computer, but that likely won't work if you can't get the iBook to start up at all. However, with a new Mac, you may be able to retrieve some of your data using FireWire Target Disk Mode.

MSVCR is Microsoft Virtual Creator. It's an MS dirivitive of Java.

Missing video purchase tab in itunes. Please help

On both my ipad mini and netbook, in itunes i have no video tab in the purchased section. The purchased section only shows the music i have bought and none of my movies (on both devices). On my ipad mini despite having the "show purchased videos" setting being activated in settings, itunes also only shows purchased music and there isnt even a movie tab in the purchased section. Please help.

hey
so my ibook g3 was beginning to have problems. many programs such as ichat,safari or adium would shut down and error messages would come up saying it closed ect. so i decide to restart since it usally solves the problem but this time it didnt. so i go and restart the login window pops up i log in and the black command promt like screen pops up its darwin ask me to log in ect and i have to use coding and im not familar with the coding so i dont know what to do im getting kinda mad since ihave many papers due this week since im graduating highschool i just want to get it back up and dont want to resort to buying a new machine so please post info or help me thanks

Whenever something starts going wrong with the computer I suggest you first boot from the installer disk, run Disk Utility and repair the preferences on your computer and verify (and repair if necessary) the drive. You can also repair preferences from DU on your main drive while booted, but to properly verify and repair your drive you have to run it from a drive other than the boot drive. A limited repair is also performed as part of a Safe Mode boot.

If safe mode won't boot you can try using single user mode and then run fsk:

After that you're looking at getting [Diskwarrior|http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior> to try and repair directory, and then maybe [Data Rescue II|http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php] or [FileSalvage|http://subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?mainpage=product_info&productsid=1]. The two latter ones have free trial versions that let you see if the software will help before you decide to buy but you have to have an empty hard drive to dump the results. Diskwarrior does repair in-situ.
However, if you're getting a boot error perhaps you can paste some of the message here because it may be that something else (potentially simple like a single missing file) may be wrong and would save you the $100-$200 of all the software purchases.

I'm having the exact same problem. Unfortunately, I can't tell you what is causing it, but I can tell you what it isn't(at least in my case). I made an in app purchase yesterday using a MasterCard I had linked to my account with no problems. This morning, my card from my new bank came in so I switched it over(American Express), and all of a sudden can't make IAP. I thought maybe there was an issue with the card, so I tried it out on a .99 app, and it worked no problem. So I got with tech support and they had me reset all of my phone settings -_-, then my network settings. No change. I tried restarting the phone obviously, closing the App and trying again, no luck. They suggested I call my bank and make sure the address I had on file for the card matched what I supplied for my Apple account, and that didn't fix it either. I tried IAP on two different apps and it was the same, could not connect to App Store error. I'm still trying to figure it out, and I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but I hope I at least save you some trouble of trying these things. If I find anything out I'll let you know.

Major File Corruption Problem...

In the past week I suddenly have a file corruption problem that is destroying everything I'm working on. It first showed up when I converted a 16 bit file to 8 bit, but it now is happening if I add a layer and apply the High Pass filter, or add some Shadow & Highlight detail, then the layers begun to almost 'dissolve' and become more transparent…or they take on a block-like transparency. I'm attaching a couple of shots that show the kind of thing that is happening...
This was a fairly simple image with 5 separate image layers. When I added a layer and applied the High Pass, it corrupted the background layer to give me this...
You can see the icon in the Layers palate clearly shows the corrupted Background layer. There is also a bit showing on the Hi Pass Layer icon...
Next is a much larger (almost 2 GB) file with tons of layers that looked fine...
…but when the High Pass layer is isolated you can see the corruption clearly...
Shortly after taking these screen caps, the rest of the layers all got corrupted, and all the layer mask icons looked like checkerboards with the blocky transparency. Deleting the affected layers and adding them back in didn't help…they would just get corrupted again. Deleting the corrupted layers, saving the remaining file and quitting didn't help…opening the file again and attempting to add the layers back would result in still more corruption. I found some success in starting from scratch, doing one or two things, saving, then quitting Photoshop. Then I would duplicate the file, reopen Photoshop and do one or two things, save again, then quit Photoshop again…repeat a hundred times! Not exactly a workflow I can live with...
And the really messed up thing is that this is happening with both CS6 and the CC version. I'm working on a MacPro 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 24 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC, ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB card, on OS X 10.8.5
Any help will be greeted with loads of praise!

Warranty is valid only in country of original purchase. You have to return
the iPhone to the US for evaluation. Either you return it personally or send
it to a friend/relative/co-worker in the US to take into Apple. Apple will not
accept international shipments for evaluation nor will Apple ship out of the
country after repair/replacement.
Have you tried the standard trouble shooting steps: restart, restore, restore
as new iPhone?

Hi there Im after a little help.
Yesterday I installed a program called partition magic. The install went without any errors or problems but then when I start the program for the 1st time I got a blue screen and my laptop shut down. I restarted the laptop and uninstalled partition magic but now I noticed that the data partition is missing. Ive tried doing a restore back to before I installed partition magic but that does not help.
Any help would be great. Thanks

Hi Lee,
May I ask you why you have installed partition magic? Installation of such programs is always a little bit risky and should only be done if you really want to change some partitions or something else.
Have you already checked disk management of Windows? Navigate to control panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Computer Management.
Can you see the second partition and is it maybe hidden or something else?
