IBooks on iOS5.1.1

The current version of iBooks in the iTunes App Store will not install on iOS 5.1.1 you get a message to the effect that you need a later operating system.
The problem is that I have a first generation iPad and the last update to the iOS for that device was iOS 5.1.1. So where do I get a compatible version of the software as it does not appear to be supported by Apple?

I have solved my own problem. On the iPad in the App Store application you search for iBooks then from the display you select iBooks Install and the system automatically invites you to download the compatible version. This appears to be the solution with any other program which needs an earlier version.

Ibooks not working on iphone4 after ios5 upgrade

Hi folks,
the ibook application is not working anymore after upgrading to ios5.
It all appears to be ok but no book can be open. The books appears correctly, others may be downloaded but still none of them can be open.
It looks like lacking a kind of authentication.
I removed it , restarted the phone, installed it again and it still does not work.
Am I alone with this problem or someone else also got it?

Hi.. I have problem wth hotspot too. But i still use it via wifi. I cant use cable as medium anymore. My experience, hotspot connection vis wifi sometime need to resert the connection several time before stable. Just try this: unplug the phone from usb connection. let your wifi turn off. Then set the personel hotspot on via usb only. After that back to the wifi setting. Turn it on. Again back to the personel hotspot setting. Turn it off, on it back (wifi connection automaticly selected when usb cable unplug). Now you can search your phone from ur wifi service on pc. Hope it works..

Ever since I installed iOS5 on ITouch, I can't see ibooks. Tried to re-download but showed it was already downloaded. What should I do now?

It has moved to the top right, next to the search bar. An icon appears when there is a download in progress. When you click on it a small pop-up window appears with all the progress bars.

I have the original iPad A1337 with 64GB. I have IOS5.1.1 installed. It has wifi and 3G. Applications constantly crash the device. For example; I turn on iBooks, browse for books and it crashes. Games crash too. Any suggestions?

You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.

Why are several Apple apps crashing after update to IOS5? Safari, Appstore and iBooks all crash Frequently :-(

Sine I updated to IOS 5.0.1 my iPad(version 1) crashes quite often.
Especially when using Safari, Ibooks and Appstore.
It is quite frustrating and I have feeling that there are memory leaks.
Would be good to know if Apple are working on these problems.

Well, I have an iPad 2 3G 32GB end I can say ios 5 is PERFECT, really never seen an appstore app crashing!(200 apps + games installed), the only system app crashing sometimes is Safari, very rarely.
Os works very fast, notification center is awsome, the battery is good.
Its perfect!

I guess what I'm trying to say is, the old ipad its slow end crashes, and so, if you want better, you upgrade.

Same problem here, Bookmark always worked properly before iOS 5. I too noticed this while reading Steve's biography, ironic??
I have noticed that besides it appearing on previous page, that if I turn to lanscape and chose the bookmark it is appearing on the right of the second page of the two that appears as should be. So I wonder if this is some problem of formating between landscape 2 page view and the single page portrait view?
My two cents but this is sure annoying! I have not seen it jump back like some noticed however, just previous page in portrait view!

IBooks do not show pictures since upgrading to iOS5

Hey mikejoy, I also got the dotted circle and googled somemore and found out that my ring tone was too long. The time length for custom iphone 5 ringtones can be no longer than 30 seconds which *****. There are programs that will extend the length like iskysoft.com which I may try. good luck!

New collection causes ibooks crash with ios5

Hi,
My iBooks shelves are nice, with different collections.
Since I did the upgrade to Ios 5, it's impossible to create a new collection: it crashes the app.
The previously installed ones work perfectly, but no new folder is allowed!!
Do someone have an idea??

Using iOS5 on multiple devices

Is there a view on how to use iOS5 on multiple devices when multiple devices are owned by differing family members? i have an iPhone, my partner has an iPhone, and together we have an iPad. [i have a MBP as well but havent updated to Lion yet, dont knwo if this is part of this question]. iOS5 can sync to multiple devices so can we sync all apps and musc between the mobile devices? do they have to be on the same apple user ID? of have i got that wrong?
also contacts and photos wise, we both have our own photos, contacts, calendar and mail. can any/all of these be syncd between us all? i guess the one that would be syncd would be photos as youd want to see that on the ipad.

The iTunes account and iCloud accounts are not linked on your devices.
So you can each have an iCloud account that works on your iDevices nd all be logged into the same iTunes account in the iTunes Store, App Store, IBooks, etc.
You do really need your iMac to be on 10.7.2 as it was a requirement before you moved to iCloud, did you lie when asked the question "are all your devices ready for iCloud".

How to change the "home" computer for a iPod touch 3G (iOS 4.2.1) and an iPad 2(iOS5)? Music library has been already moved to iTunes on the new computer.

I have a iPod Touch (3rd gen) that has not upgraded it's OS beyond iOS4.2.1 even if I have tried connecting it into iTiunes I have a iPad2 which has been recently upgraded to iOS5 . Both were connected to a laptop computer that my husband will take with him when he moves to a different city. I will most probably buy a second laptop sometime, but meanwhile I want to tether my iPod touch and iPad 2 to my desktop PC for now. Before I took the plunge, I had a few questions which I am hoping this forum will help me answer
1. How to switch the Home PC for these devices? I have already transfered my Music library on to my Home PC and then downloaded and reorganised with iTunes. Since I am reorganising the library anyway I don't minding removing all my music from the iTouch and set it up from scratch for the music. However, I removed all musci from theiTouch, changed it to manual mode and connected it to the desktop- It's detecting it fine- but it still is not the home computer for the iTouch- everytime I try to put new music in it- it is deleting everything old- I can't see the same controls as I see from the laptop at all- how to rectify this? To I need to set this up as a new iPod (restore route)?
on the touch I have very few apps and don't care about them. on the iPad I do have a couple of valuable apps that I want to hold on to- so have n't tinkered with it at all- what is the smoothest way for thsi transition? The iPad doesn't have any music on it at this time, but what to do if I want to transfer some?
2. Is there a way I can store the organised iTunes info in any way- like I said I might buy a new laptop in a few months but do not want to reorganise my iTunes over agaoin- it' a fairly large collection most of which is n't purchased from the iTunes store.
3. Why sin't my iTouch 3G upgrading- it's stuck on iOS4.2.1 but iTunes doesn't show any updates- even with chck updates button iTunes show that it is a current version.

The recent release of iBooks 1.2.1 has corrected the problem of the missing Dutton edition of Winnie-the-Pooh. It may have been there with the previous install of iBooks but it would never display in the bookshelf. After updating iBooks to 1.2.1, the Dutton version (the one included with iBooks) suddenly appeared on the bookshelf. So it was a software glitch after all and not a fix Apple chose to document explicitly in the update.
